Tropical Sno Kansas City

Delicious perfect treat on a hot summer day! And it’s cheap too. The main guy working there was very friendly and the cashier was pretty nice too.
The atmosphere is really cute, bright and clean. I’m not sure why they use a microphone/​speaker for orders since it’s such a small space and relatively quiet even with a line inside, but it works with their atmosphere.
I had the vanilla cream silver fox. The cashier said to try it with chocolate cream, so if you like chocolate, that would be a good bet.

This place is great! The shaved ice is so thin, and they had TONS of flavors. The workers were super nice and were honest about their favorite combinations and ones they didn’t care for. We had the Georgia Peach (peach and strawberry) and the Silver Fox (coconut and vanilla cream). Loved them both, but I would get literally any flavor combination that has the vanilla cream in it.

If I could give the place 10 stars, I would.
Because Tropical Sno isn’t like any frozen treat I’ve ever had before. The ice (made from filtered water) is shaved SO fine that holding it is like holding… well…not-ice. It’s honest-​to-​God fluffy. And that’s when you hold it in your HAND.
In your MOUTH, it’s another story. Because the ice is shaved and thoroughly packed into a cone-​like structure (shaped a lot like the Sankara Stones from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom!) and then infused with one of dozens of flavors. And not just single flavors. Combinations unlock amazing awesomeness. Drop the 50 cents for vanilla cream as a bonus. Except it’s NOT a bonus because you’re going to get it every time just like I do. Because it’s so, so good.
So…now you know that Tropical Sno is an incredibly delicious icy treat completely different from any you’ve ever tried before. NOW you need to know where to get it.
The shop is JUST east of Wornall on 85^th. It’s easy to get to when you know how. The interior is bright and cheery with exceptionally cool light fixtures and tiling.
Since each Tropical Sno cone is hand made While-​U-​Wait, you have 60 seconds or so to talk to the person making it, and Tropical Sno has outstanding employees. Cheery, smart, and happy to explain the secrets of their fiendishly delicious product, they make buying the cone almost as much fun as eating it.

Great shop, great sno cones, fun people behind the counter. Each cone is hand crafted so it might be a short wait when busy, but really worth it!
