I wish I knew their hours… but then again, maybe it’s good that I don’t know! Sometimes this Food Truck is at the parking lot of Windward Mall at the corner of Haiku Road and Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe(the Windward side of Oahu)…and sometimes it’s not there. For sure, the truck is here for Fat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras(the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent). It has the same quality malasadas as the original location on Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu. I like Leonard’s malasadas(Portuguese doughnuts) better than the competition because these are light and fluffy when they are hot and fresh. It’s best to be eaten right away when the sugar isn’t melted yet. That crisp, brown outer layer and the warm, soft inner goodness doesn’t have the yeasty flavor like the competition. I noticed that the taste is consistent and doesn’t have the oily feel like other malasadas. Recently, Dear Daniel, my lunch buddy, brought a dozen Leonard’s malasadas to our UYE picnic at the beach. I gobbled one up right away! There were 6 left at the end of the event, so I scored and took them home! I warmed three of them up in the microwave for about 10 seconds… almost as good as fresh, but still YUM! That was my breakfast! I took the remaining 3 to work. My coworker had one and I had two — YAY for me! haha! That’s how good they are! Yesterday — I saw the truck right after I bought a quart of gelato at the supermarket. ARG! I let the gelato melt in the car while I feasted on 2 of those hot & fresh malasadas in the parking lot! They didn’t even make it home! Haha! Every time I see this Food Truck, I want to stop by and get a malasada… but I know that I shouldn’t because one is not enough… you know what I’m talking about! The truck doesn’t have the Flavor of the Day filling, but they do have Custard, Dobash(chocolate), and Haupia(coconut) filled ones for $ 1.65 plus tax. The Original, Li Hing, and Cinnamon flavored ones are currently $ 1.25 each plus tax. These are rolled in sugar. The filled ones are injected with pudding. To me, the Original ones are the best! So — if you haven’t had one yet, go get one(or 2)! There’s also a Malasadamobile at the Waikele Outlet. For regular hours(but limited parking), go to the shop at Kapahulu Avenue. YUMYUM!!!

Doughnuts? Good. Crème Puffs? Good. Cinnamon Sugar anything? Good. Hot Doughnuts? Really Good. Hot Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts; Amazingly Good. Hot Sugared Doughnuts Filled with Bavarian Crème??? MINDBLOWINGLYGOOD. This household name on Oahu is on virtually every to-do list you’ll find when searching Pinterest on what to do on the island, and for good reason. This particular one is a spin off of the original in the food truck format, and we were lucky enough to find them outside the Windward mall while we were there for the Farmer’s Market. The mouth feel of these doughnuts is unreal. The outside has a skin like a bagel, thicker than the average doughnut, but inside it’s impossibly chewy, and perfectly sweet. Stuffed with crème and rolled in sugar, these bad boys make you sing the song of a woman in love, and forget all about that healthy kick you were trying for. There’s always time to start a new years resolution later, for now, eat the doughnut.

Holy moly. Fresh malasadas with a variety of fillings, super good. I really liked the haupia(coconut cream) filling while my fiancée liked the chocolate. The one con is trying to figure out if it’s sand or sugar at the end of a beach day.

These are the best type of dessert. When I come to Oahu, it is a must that I stop here before continuing my vacation and I must get one before I leave home. These tasty puffs of heaven melt in your mouth as you eat them freshly made… All I can say is YumYum!!!

Malasadas suck now, have had malasadas with a nice raw doughy center from both mobile trucks(waikele, and windward mall), the waimalu location, and the original kapahulu bakery location. Will stick to the original flavor and taste from champion malasada.

The Honest Truth: If you want malasadas, how can you not come to leonards? Definitely a standard for malasadas in Hawaii and the truck is nice because its right by my grandma’s house! Make sure you check to make sure if actually is at windward mall though, they change locations every couple weeks! The Details: I enjoy malasadas a lot. Whenever I come to visit my relatives, I pretty much get malasadas every other day. Leonard’s is nice and soft and sweet, but not too sweet! Definitely a must get if you’re in Hawaii. The only reason its not 5 stars, is because the actual leonard’s has more selection!

I found their truck at Windward Mall in Kaneohe and the quality of the malasadas were as good as if you went to the bakery on Kapahulu. The only difference is they didn’t have the flavor of the month, but I was looking to fulfill my chocolate crave anyways. The service was very fast and as I looked behind me the line was growing. Needless to say, everyone got their malasadas quickly and mine was gone pretty quick. The chocolate filling is rich and filled perfectly. I just happened to be driving and saw the red and white truck and had to stop.

Personally I would not say these the best malasadas, but they are really good. Leonard Jr’s is a mobile truck that goes all over the islands. Now Leonard Bakery has more than one of these trucks. This one is parked at Windward Mall almost everyday. Most times they are not to busy. They only time I ever see a line is on Fat Tuesday aka Malasada Day. Even then they keep the line moving and the fresh hot Malasadas never lose quality on a busy day. It’s nice now that they take credit and debit cards as well. The price is very reasonable. The malasadas are yummy, fluffy and best when ate fresh. For those that don’t know a malasadas is a Portuguese yeast donut deep fried and then coated in sugar. Traditional malasadas are plain. Leonard’s offers custard, haupia and chocolate filled malasadas. I prefer the plain ones. Unilocal 31 Review Challenge #28/31

It’s often parked at Windward mall, on the ewa&makai side of the mall in the corner of the parking lot(at the intersection of Kam Hwy and Lilipuna/Haiku road). If you see it, catch it when you can! Hot, fresh, pillows of dough sparkling with little crystals of sugary goodness. Sadly, they don’t carry the flavor of the month on the go, so you’re going to have to go to the bakery itself on Kapahulu if you want a taste of this months(DELICIOUS) lilikoi custard. They do have the regulars – sugar, cinnamon sugar, li hing sugar(all 90cents), and 3 filled: regular custard, chocolate, and haupia(all 1.25 I think). There is a little bit of a wait for them to make your malasada hot ‘n fresh, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My personal fave is the cinnamon sugar. mmm.

YUMMY!!! Service is fast. Sometimes, it would be a long line here sometimes not. I wish they engage with us more but they’re too busy making the malasadas, can you imagine if they burned all the malasadas in that boiling hot oil? Yikes! Love itttt! I come down from San Diego once a year to visit my family and this is so convenient for me to get because the one in Honolulu is way to far to drive. My boyfriend loved it and he will try it again.

delicious… but you’d be better suited to find a krispy kreme somewhere… probably not going to happen on the island, so its a close second.
