History

Established in 2011.

We opened July of 2011 for breakfast and lunch. Angie Woodring purchased the Café in February of 2015, and current owners Terry, Zach, and Maggie Falk took ownership in February of 2016.

Terry, father of Zach and father-​in-​law of Maggie, moved to the Flathead Valley over 35 years ago. Zach and Maggie recently got married and both grew up in Kalispell. They have stayed here ever since! So, it’s very safe to say that we are family owned and operated, and it’s our mission to keep it that way.

This was a big ol’ bucket of suck and it started as soon as I walked in. Three waitresses staring at me as I stand patiently at the «wait to be seated» sign. Not even a «someone will be with you». Finally the one who apparently pulled the short straw sat me at the bar.
Ordered the Split Rock which was a hard biscuits+cold gravy semblance of a breakfast staple. Never got checked on — remember I’m at the bar and waitresses are passing by constantly — and never got a coffee refill.
Skip it.

Visiting from out of town and used Unilocal to find a breakfast place before returning home to Helena. The historic details still easily seen creates a great atmosphere. The staff was attentive and friendly; and the food was plentiful with a fresh array of organic flavors.

First time visiting, my sister and I both ordered half sandwiches with sides for just under $ 7 each. The food was delicious (turkey, swiss, and carmalized onion, with a heap of lettuce for the side), and took all of 7 minutes from ordering to being placed on my table. I’m hoping this is typical, and will definitely be coming back to try thier breakfast.

I have been in here a couple of times. Each time was for lunch. Each time I had a sandwich. Today, I ordered a BLT. The tomato had flavor and the bacon was not burnt. All in all, it was a good sandwich. Too often the bread is toasted too much; this was a light toast, just right. The French onion soup had the right flavor, but no croutons. Missed them. Another good meal; I assume I will be back.

Sweet local spot. Great atmosphere. Better to order stuff exactly as it’s listed on the menu. No special requests — they seem to get messed up pretty fast. Steak salad is fabulous, daily soup is always good, and huge bowls of mocha or lattes will certainly make this he perfect spot for coffee dates. Enjoy!

Split Rock has been under new ownership since February 2015. Prior to the new ownership, we had a bad experience and then a good one, but we still had not put Split Rock on our breakfast and lunch rounds because the bad experience was just so bad. We went again yesterday and Split Rock has officially redeemed themselves. Thank you to the new owners for taking over, because this is such a beautiful spot for a restaurant.
We were in and out in 45 minutes with a California Beni and Soup and Salad Combo. All for 16.70. Crazy good prices, fast service, high quality ingredients, and beautiful location are going to make this one of our top 3 places to eat American breakfast in Kali (Knead No 1, Sykes No 2, Split Rock No 3).

We came for Sunday brunch, and I ordered the California Benedict eggs and they were delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The service was friendly and attentive, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I would gladly come back here.

Hope you’re not in a hurry. Waited over 40 minutes for our food and the burger was charred the Ruben was ok. No beer or wine available. Bummer.

Loved the service. It was prompt with a smile and always eager to please. I asked for something off the menu and they excelled at adjusting. Pretty good espresso. Loved the food. And best of all, very reasonably priced. Around $ 20 for a breakfast for two.

Ok, so I’m really late to the party on this one, but we just went for the first time and we were completely impressed. The food was amazing and pretty cheap, service was good, atmosphere was good and everything was nice and clean. We will absolutely be returning as often as possible. We decided to try it based on the other Unilocal reviews and I’m glad we did.

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Kalispell.
It has a gorgeous interior that really shows the history of the building.
And the food is all fresh and you can tell it’s made fresh for each customer.

Delicious. I ordered the chicken pesto. It was excellent as was the Chardonnay. I needed to let it warm up a little… Maybe their fridge is too cold? Totally worth the wait. Chicken was moist and flavorful, pasta was perfectly cooked, artichokes were perfect. Service was impeccable. Servers were knowledgable and competent. I never waited on anything. What a delightful dining experience! So glad I stopped here… Definitely rivals a NYC eatery! Keep it up!

First off this spot has a lovely interior. Definitely gives you a great feel for the town if you are just rolling through.
Very good prices and high quality food! Our server was quick, kind, and attentive.
We settled for their classic breakfast plates and were impressed by their tea and coffee. Their menu items are not adventurous but that’s not a deterrent. If you are looking for a bite in this town I think you will be happily sated.
