Calvin & Susie Kailua

What a great place! Friendly service, beautiful store, remarkably well-​stocked for a smaller space (compared to their Honolulu store), convenient parking in the back. But its the friendly service that will keep me coming back every time!

So glad they opened up a shop here in Kailua! Loved their store in Kapahulu. While this location is quite a bit smaller. they still offer great service and items for dogs and small section for cats too. Kailua is Such a great dog friendly area so having this shop is perfect. I can’t wait to bring my dog in next time. I love to support local shops so I’m excited to get my dog’s food from here.

This is a great little independently owned pet store in Kailua town. It’s not easy to spot from the main street, but if you go down from Boots and Kimo or Kimo & Boots (whatever that popular restaurant with Japanese tourists is called), it’s on that side of the street and before you come to Crepes No Ka Oi or Foodland. There’s free parking on the street or behind the pet store. Added bonus you get to see the wild chickens in Kailua walking around the area. I even saw several Japanese tourists photographing the chickens.
Calvin & Susie has wonderful customer service. I can’t say enough about the staff. They don’t avoid eye contact in the hopes you won’t ask them a question. The salesperson who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable without overselling anything. The store has high quality kibble of all kinds including the ever popular grain-​free varieties. There are all sorts of leashes, pet toys, pet odor neutralizers, pet supplements and cutesy pet related items. Depending on the dog food manufacturer, you can get a free bag of dog food if you buy x number of bags. The leash I bought has a lifetime guarantee so if it deteriorates badly, the salesperson told me I could come in for a new one. This is a store worth checking out if you’re in Kailua. They even give you a decent size sample bag of the kibble to make sure your dog likes it and does ok on it. The salesperson told me to try the sample first with my dog (I was switching brands) to see if it was ok with my dog. Of course the first thing I did when I got home was to forget all that and give my dog the food straight from the main bag, but luckily she loved the taste of her new kibble.

This place is absolutely perfect for our new member of our family! Our Puppy Nickie loved it there! The sales woman who helped my husband and I was not only very kind but also helped out us clueless new dog owners! This place is perfect!

I love this place! They have a huge selection of food for your pets! One of our dogs suffers from corn allergy and we make sure we give her the best of the best and you can find it here. They even carry raw pet food. They have a great selection of leashes and even those cute dog hiking bags your dog can wear, really cool water filter dog bowls… They have it all and the women who works there is so friendly. Top notch great service and great products! We will be filling all of our dogs stockings this year with goodies from here.

Great customer service. The staff is very knowledgable. They go out of their way to make sure you and your dog have a pleasurable shopping experience.
My poodle, Oreo, goes with me almost always. They ask before giving treats and make sure you know the ingredients before your dog woofs any down. Oreo gets spoiled and gets to practice his manners in a safe and welcoming environment.
They allow you to try different harnesses on prior to purchase to make sure of the fit. They also carry trial size bags of dog food for a nominal fee so you don’t get stuck with a huge bag that your dog won’t eat.
There is ample free parking around back. The store is a bit hidden but there are signs to help you find it. It is usually not very crowed so you get plenty of personalized service.

I normally visit the Calvin & Susie on Kapahulu to buy dog food, treats & accessories but go to this location when I’m visiting Kailua. We visited here a few weeks ago to buy some treats for our dog before we went to the beach. I ended up buying more than treats for my fur baby.
I’ve read that some dogs don’t like the sound of metal bowls so they will take their food and eat away from their bowl. My little Yorkie seemed to do this too so I was looking for some new ceramic or glass bowls. I found these lovely ceramic bowls from Emanuele Bianchi Design that were functional and stylish. The bowls are angled where the front edge is lower than the back edge so your pet can easily access his/​her food or water. The bowl comes with a plastic stand with little rubber feet & handy side tabs
so they are easy to carry. My dog loves his new bowls and no longer leaves his bowl when he’s eating.
