It appears that MWL is planning to close its doors.

Bought one chocolate chunk cookie and it was the «crumbiest» cookie I ever had. I was tempted to take it back because it was so hard but didn’t want to waste my time. And the cookie costed me $ 2. Should have bought a pack of Famous Amos cookies from the corner store.

I love their vegan chili. Its very difficult to get it right, and being from a spicy eating place, I really miss having spicy soups. But they got it just right.
Even their cookies are fresh. Sure stuff might be on the pricier side, but people dont complain about the prices when they aare paying the 4 $ for a starbucks coffee. Why single out local establishments?
As for the cell phone charging, its really their own rule. You cant force your phone battery on shop owners. They have a business to run.

Downgrade! Not only are they still expensive and their food hasn’t gotten any better, in a time when most of Jersey City has come together and tried to help others in the community in the face of a horrible hurricane, they’re charging people $ 1 to sit in their small crappy restaurant and charge their phone? People are stringing together extension cords outside THEIR OWN HOMES so random people can charge what they need, and you have the nerve, as a business owner in this community, to charge people? Shame on you.

Been here once before the coffee isn’t the best, Dunkin Donuts is better. Their cookies are okay here that’s about it.
Also, how dare you charge people money at a time like this to charge their cell phone, SHAME ON YOU! You should be ashamed of yourself.

(Un)fortunately, I’ve only tried the Sweet & Salty Sables. They are unbelievably delicious. I can’t order anything else because my brain just shuts down when I have them in sight. If you’re a fan of chocolate, this is a must try. The sable is chocolate decadence, not too sweet, perfectly balanced by just enough salt and full of rich chocolate flavors.
I really should try the other items. As far as prices are concerned, I agree that they are high but dammit these are THAT good that I keep going back for more.

Celeste and her team at Made with Love made our wedding cupcakes/​cake. It was delicious! As we have had one of her cakes for all our big life events (engagement party, birthdays, holidays, etc.) we couldn’t think of any other place we’d rather have our wedding cake from than Made With Love. It was not only beautiful but also tasty, made with the best ingredients, and most of all… love! A true hit with all friends and family!!! Post-​wedding, I took a cupcake 101 class with girlfriends to learn Celeste’s «tricks of the trade» which turned out to be a fun evening with the gals and a great way to know Celeste more. This bakery is a neighborhood favorite!

I’ll preface this review by saying that I really, really want to like this place, and I’ve been here pretty often. I like the focus on quality, organic ingredients, and I don’t mind paying more for that kind of thing.
However, this place is very hit or miss — sometimes they have fresh donuts that are amazing (I especially love the cinnamon-​sugar ones). Other times there’s hardly any pastries to choose from and the one I end up with is stale. My bf and I have gone there several times in the morning for a scone, donut, or croissant, only to find nothing out on the counter but a few cupcakes and some cookies. We’ve had to walk out empty-​handed and go elsewhere. If they’re going to be a café that serves coffee and breakfast pastries, it might be a good idea to have those pastries ready to go when the store opens in the morning.
The staff also often seems disorganized and like they don’t know what’s going on — sometimes they’re super helpful and offer to warm up your scone, and other times it’s like you’re interrupting some kind of kitchen crisis by ordering things. Again, I really like the idea of this place, and if the quality and availability of their baked goods were more consistent and the staff a bit more professional, I would go here all the time.

I love healthy. I am all about healthy, organic, natural, wholesome. But this should be renamed to Made with Cardboard, not love.
I got the chocolate chunk cookie and it felt like I was chewing on gravel. Very bland and difficult texture to get over. I also had a bite of my friend’s brownie and it was equally bland and not ooey-​gooey like a brownie should be.
I am still on the search for a great bakery in JC. Open to suggestions.

The first time I had cookies from Made with Love, they were really good, pretty fresh and full of chocolate chunks. Because of that, I got a Groupon or LivingSocial and bought things to bring to a family dinner. It was a weekend, so you would think everything would’ve been fresh, but the cookies and brownies I got seemed kind of stale. Or maybe they’re not supposed to be chewy, and I just prefer chewy baked goods. I thought the items would’ve been overpriced without the deal certificate. The organic-​ness isn’t really important to me, so I probably wouldn’t go back.
I got cookies from Sassy Sweet Treats at the Van Vorst Farmer’s Market shortly after, and I liked them a lot better. Much more flavorful and fresh, and less expensive.

What I had wasn’t as good as I was expecting. Will try other things and review in the near future.
Scone: smells great. texture is soft, not as crumbly as i like scones to be. taste is a little bland.
Coffee: not very good place for coffee.

My past last few experiences at this bakery prompted me to write a review on Unilocal.
I was looking for a nice study spot and figured I would try this cute place because Starbucks is always packed. It was warm, empty and smelled amazing. I took a seat even though no one seemed to be working the front counter. No big deal, they are in back baking.
Unfortunately the radio was blasting a top 40 station which I thought was strange, especially when there was opera blasting from the kitchen where everyone was working. No reading was going to get done here. I got a coffee anyway, and it was cold, the last bit from the pot. I had a baked treat, and much like the other cookies and treats there, it was OK. For that price I expect a bit more. Maybe I just don’t like hard cookies.
I have since tried this spot a few more times hoping it would work, but the dueling radio stations, lackluster treats, and coffee just didn’t cut it. Now I realize why everyone ends up at Starbucks.

Judging by the huge variation in reviews, I believe it’s fair to say that Made with Love has huge potential but still has some things to work on. I went there for the first time today. First off, the place is charming. There is limited seating space, but the artwork, café music, and counter display with cakes and pastries create an inviting atmosphere. I was disappointed to see that there weren’t many options for one-​person servings of pie or cake. I gathered that cakes are generally preordered.
I ordered the mac n’ cheese ($ 6) and a slice of the tres leche cake ($ 6) for lunch. The mac n’ cheese was an EPIC FAIL. I complain about how hard it is to find good mac n’ cheese, but this was served like a piece of lasagna. I want my mac to be swimming in cheesy goodness, with a sharp cheesy taste. This mac n’ cheese lacked both creaminess and cheesiness. It honestly tasted like someone boiled some macaroni, sprinkled mozzarella on it, and microwaved it. DON’T GET THE MAC N CHEESE!
Now the tres leche cake: $ 6 for a piece of cake is pricey, and the cost will likely keep me away except for special occasions. The other disclosure I have to make is that I don’t have a reference point for what a good tres leche cake should taste like. However, the piece of cake that I had was delicious. It was moist, with a light vanilla (?) frosting, and a slight cinnamony taste. I want to say that there might be a little rum, but I have no idea — it sort of has that yummy feel. Overall, I thought this was a high quality desert and is the reason why I choose to overlook the mac n cheese fiasco and give the place 4 stars based on the cake.

My bf bought my organic birthday cake from here back in March… I’m finally finishing my review today.
Although his customer service experience while there was not a happy one (they didn’t provide him with a bag to put the cake box in and it was raining outside! and they also had no one available to write a birthday message on the cake for him. poor him ended up stopping and getting a frosting pen and writing a message on the cake himself and he has skills! I couldn’t tell it wasn’t done at the bakery :)…now, while those are definitely negatives — and the reason I took off a star for that (maybe should have taken off 2) — the actual cake, however, was DELICIOUS! Absolutely delectable so much so that I’m still thinking about it months later.
Cake was pricey, but worth every penny that was spent… that said, I hope they got their customer service in order since then.

A super-​cute little bakery/​café.
This was my second visit. I was there for an art opening, and really enjoyed the vibrant paintings and the vibrant people!
I got the mini strawberry pie — sure, at $ 7.50 it was a bit pricy, but it was also super-​delicious — obviously made with all fresh ingredients. And the cost was more than balanced out by the fact that the art opening boasted free drinks! Not to mention that the counter staff were super-​nice, and the owner came out to greet us personally, and to offer us free rosemary-​flavored breadstick things! Can’t get much cooler than that.
Oh, and did I mention that the art kicks ass? Go check it out!

Cute little shop with lots of baked good. I paid $ 7 for an organic lemonade and dulce de leche donut. Both were good but $ 7???

Made With Love is a little slice of delicious literally steps from my front door. I love the empanadas and organic iced coffees. Sometimes at events at their location, Celeste will whip up the best little gourmet pizzas you ever did have. The sense of community when you visit Made With Love is evident, with local artists featuring art on the walls and area musicians regularly showcased. Yes, it is a little more to spend than, oh, a commercial chain such as Dunkin’ stupid Donuts.
Supporting a local business that values their customers and works to build our community’s arts and music scene is well worth a few more dollars for delicious noms and knowing that money goes back into our local economy. Just saying.

In the past two years Made With Love has grown into the community and after a pessimistic review then I now find it to be a great part of the neighborhood.
While it is still on the expensive side, the food is almost always top notch. Almost always? Yes, a few times we got something stale, which was a monster of a surprise for us. Forgivable, of course.
There are interesting cooking classes and family style dinners there, though they are sometimes advertised confusingly. Once it said to bring your own booze, then it seemed like there was a charge for it. I’m sure this is of the best intentions, but I don’t have time to be confused.

Yo so maybe the past 3 times I have come here its just been bad luck but this place hasn’t been the best experience.
The food that I have eaten here has just not been great. I have come for brunch, lunch, empanadas and I who rarely cooks could have made alot of what was served better.
Prices? It’s expensive. The farmer’s breakfast consisted of cold scrambled eggs, one measly rip off of bread, microwaved spinach, and some old carrots. The pancakes were not light and fluffy as pancakes should be but hard and crispy on the edges. Wanna talk about the Huevos? They were not good. Emapanadas? Not the best.
The décor is cute. Maybe come here for a coffee and a scone. I haven’t touched the baked goods because they are quite expensive.
This place needs to step up its game. The staff never knows what is going on and it takes an incredibly long time to get your food.
I do love the fact that this place supports the community and I will definitely return to give MWL another chance.

We hosted my friend’s son’s 1^st birthday party here. I tried the Farmer’s breakfast, and that was light and delicious. Paired with a scone or an empanada, it’s a worthy meal. Their CocoVelvet cake alone is worth the PATH ride in. Fluffy cake, not too dense, and just the right amount of sweet, even the frosting was perfect.
Celeste and her staff were very attentive and asked us if we needed coffee, more food, or anything else. They even let us use the sound system so I hooked up my iPod and let the tunes roll. The space is a little on the narrow side but it was all okay after a little maneuvering. Family and friends enjoyed their time and the birthday boy had a smile on his face, which made it all worth while.
Definitely definitely worth a stop-​in. I also tried their apple and cheddar scone on another occasion and that was really good too. A great addition to the downtown Jersey city community!
