Alterations To Go

My husband and I have been coming here for about 5 years without any issues or concerns. They pick up and drop off at our apartment building. After years of coming here with dry cleaning, hand bag repair, shoe repair and alterations I felt comfortable trusting them with my wedding dress. It came out beautifully and they had two tailors at my fitting to make sure it would be perfect. I’m so thankful for that.
The owners are very nice and welcoming, and we will miss having a dry cleaners we can trust when we move from Jersey City. Highly recommend!

My husband has been using Alterations to go for about 5yrs. They pick up and drop off to our building. The dry cleaning service is top notch, speedy, precise and fairly priced. This week I happened to call about a missing bag of laundry and Mr Yung, the owner, was sooo helpful. Apparently, I not only forgot to label the bag with my name but I also gave a completely incorrect description of what was in the missing bag. After 2 days of searching my building, his own facility and calling me back several times the mystery was finally solved. Seems I really should pay closer attention to what my husband wears. Lol. Mr Yung was so patient through the whole ordeal. He was eager to help locate the missing items and stayed cheery and in good humor the entire time. I really appreciated his professionalism and sincere wish to help solve the missing bag mystery. I highly recommend alterations to go. Check them out!

Alterations To Go is, in my opinion, the premier dry cleaning business in Jersey City. I used its services for 3 years while I lived in the Exchange Place area and have nothing but kind words to say about the owners and staff.
Alterations To Go offers convenient pickup and delivery and always dropped off my clothing earlier than quoted. My occasional expedite requests were always met and I was never left unsatisfied with the service.
Now that I have moved into Manhattan, I sure hope I am able to find a dry cleaning service that is as pleasant, professional, and worry free as Alterations To Go.

great place to get your clothes cleaned. my girlfriend had a few dresses altered and they came out great. I had a few times where I needed something cleaned urgently and it they came through for me without having to pay anything extra which I would’ve been fine with. I’ve been a loyal customer for 5 years now since we moved in the area.

The ATG has taken care of our laundry while we were living in Jersey City. Initially recommend by a friend, we were very happy with the service provided. The cleaning was done in a quick and good fashion, you could easily ask for some favors (eg putting back buttons); all in all nothing to worry about. Thanks Young and Michelle and all the best.

The staff is very friendly. Quick and reliable service. Never makes you wait for more than two days. They also communication via text messages which is very convenient. Definitely recommend this business to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

DO NOT GO there with anything that isn’t simple. They will do a half-​assed job and try to charge you an inflated price for the job. Took some cargos there to have waist taken-​in and got them back in an embarassing form, I could have sewed them better. AVOID!

I brought in an evening gown and a cocktail dress to be taken in and they both came out great. One of the dresses had rhinestones all over and I had to go back to have it taken in a little more, which they did and were so nice about it too!
This will definately be my go to place. My husband has had his laundry done here for over a year and likes them very much.

This place really came through for me on a last minute alteration I needed on a dress for a wedding! Great service I would definitely recommend!

So I just moved to Jersey City little over three months ago and I came across this gem because of Unilocal.I’ve taken numerous pants and a suit jacket to have altered and the results were amazing. I thought $ 75 to have a suit jacket altered was a bit on the high side, but I’m not totally sure about this. I will definitely continue to use them as my primary dry cleaner!

I thought my white Alice and Olivia pencil skirt was ruined. I accidentally spilt red clam sauce all over the entire skirt! I went to 2 other places and they told me it was ruined and they couldn’t help me. A friend told me to try Alterations to Go and they got the entire stain out and the skirt looks perfect! This business is amazing. They are always friendly and timely with all my dry cleaning. Since the skirt incident I have also brought numerous articles of clothing for alterations and they always do a great job. I would not think of bringing my business anywhere else!

So apparently I gave my bridesmaid’s dress measurements wrong to the bride because it came to me 3 inches too small. I was definitely in a state of panic as I do not want to walk down the aisle with it bursting at the seams or the possibility of having no dress.
I brought my dress to Alterations to Go hoping for a miracle. They took out the seams and then I had to return to them for them to take it in again. It now fits perfectly. I am very happy with their work — very professional and courteous. It was $ 55 and well worth it.
I will definitely bring clothes to alter or for dry cleaning in the future.

Fantastic service. They were able to help me out with an emergency alteration and pressing of a full suit in less than a day. Perfect results, and very friendly. I had a great experience, and would highly recommend their services.

Alright — I’m ready to update my thoughts on the owners.
Maybe they just take time to warm up because they’ve finally stopped looking at me with disdain. Of course, maybe some of the disdain was from my refusal over the last year to take down my previous review despite the fact that they do now charge me the same for my shirts as my fiancé’s. And my issue with the sexism in pricing stands… but I’m glad that I’m not being charged 3x as much for my shirts I have a nasty button down shirt habit and wear one nearly daily — we’d go broke if we had to pay ladies’ prices for them.
Anyway, they’ve been a little friendlier lately. And our shirts are perfectly crispy and done on time. So I guess that’s deserving of more stars and a burying of the hatchet.

Honestly, the best, most reliable dry cleaner in the area. I’ve been using them for over a year, ever since the dry cleaning service in my apartment building let me down, and I have never ever been disappointed in the service provided by Alterations to Go. I am a master procrastinator and they always hustle to get my bags and bags of neglected dry cleaning to me, by or before, the time I need it and they deliver. Their seamstress is also top notch. I’ve had sleeves shortened, tears mended, linings changed, clothes taken in or let out and countless zippers repaired. If you want things done correctly the first time this is the place to go.

I’ve been using Alterations To Go for over a year. I have never experienced the rudeness that other Unilocalers have mentioned. I’ve walked in with my little dog and they always have a treat for him and are kind to us. I had only tried 1 other dry cleaner in the area when we first moved to JC, which will covered in a different review :-P. the only other cleaner in the area I even set foot in was at the Sugar House one morning a while back… the open sign was lit and the door was open, but no one was inside, until she came scurrying out with her toothbrush in her mouth. kind of a turnoff… anyway, back to Alterations To Go. They offer pick up and drop off service to our building at no additional cost, which is super convenient. Clothes come back clean, which is expected. I have my shirts laundered and pressed on a regular basis. I am not thrilled with the job they do, as I seem to find one in every batch that has some minor creasing somewhere. They will always repress at no charge if I send it back. it is rare that the press is so bad to warrant sending it back for a redo, but it is good to know they are willing to do so. One time I was missing a shirt and got someone else’s instead. They were polite and professional, asked me to be patient while they try to find it and if they cannot find it they will pay for the shirt. a week later I got a voicemail offering me said compensation. fortunately the next day the shirt popped up and everything was resolved. overall they are «A-​OK» in my book. I don’t get excited about my dry cleaning… I am teetering between 3 & 4 stars… it is convenient and I keep using them, so I guess I am a fan…

Yes, the St. John suit was not properly handled, but that having been said the owner has been working very hard to prove their willingness to do the best work possible. The store is immaculate, common alterations are properly finished, cleaning is completed on time, smells fresh, and rush orders can sometimes be accommodated. Unlike some other reviewers I have never felt customers were treated rudely. So, I am tentatively giving them 4stars, with the hope that their service earns them a 5^th.

When I need to hem my dress pants or shirt sleeves, I choose to come here 100% of the time. Pants are always perfectly falling over my shoes and my shirt sleeves are perfectly at the length to allow a little cuff to appear when I am wearing suits. The dry cleaning is also very fast (usually 2 days) and always on (or before) the promised time.

ok so I’ve literally NEVER written a review for anything before. Like EVER, but I just had to write one for these folks. I was in a wedding last weekend on Friday, the 4^th. The previous Sunday I tried my dress on again to match it with a pair of shoes and the dang thing didn’t fit. I mean by like 3 – 5 inches didn’t fit! Crap! Too much summer ale I suppose. So I went to Alterations To Go II on Monday morning asking for a miracle. Not only did I need my dress taken out and re-​pressed, but I needed it by Wednesday morning to catch my flight out to Michigan. The ladies dropped everything and hooked me up. They «literally» saved the day. They charged me $ 70 which I feel was extremely reasonable for a RUSH alternation job of this magnitude. I looked gorgeous (yes I’m bias) and no one was the wiser. Thanks Alterations To Go II for saving my bride’s special day. I HIGHLY recommend these folks.

You get what you pay for and they offer full service, great alterations, drop off and pick up. They even call to let me know when they have made a delivery. If you spent a fortune on a solid wardrobe, I would definitely say you can trust Alterations to Go with your clothes! Also I love the owner. She’s the absolute sweetest!

When I moved to Jersey City, the hardest part of the move was leaving my dry cleaner of 15 years. I was thrilled to find Alterations to Go right around the corner from my apartment.
When you walk into their location (although pick up and drop off is available) you are greater by the lovely owners and their little doggy. They take beautiful care of my clothing and even my bed linens. Clothing comes back the next day. I take all of my pants and dresses here for alterations. I was in a pinch and needed a dress altered by that same evening and they helped me out.
Love his place.

I’m really happy with my recent alteration here. I had a bridesmaid’s dress altered quite a bit and it was very affordable. I dropped the dress off Tuesday afternoon during my lunch break and had it back Friday morning.
The service was good, after the alterations woman opened up a little bit.
The store is clean and nice overall. I recommend.
