Established in 1985.

Woodbridge Optometry has moved to a new, larger office on Jan 29, 2013. 4505 Barrance Pkwy Ste C, Irvine, CA 92 604, on the corner of Barranca Parkway and Lake, across from Bank of America.

We have been in Irvine for over 25 years and we’ve seen Irvine grow and we’ve seen our patients and their families grow. You’ll find our office to be warm, clean, professional, stylish, and fully outfitted with leading-​edge technology. Welcome!

Business Owner

Dr. Nancy Wilson graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry located in Fullerton in 1984 with Magna Cum Laude honors. She opened Woodbridge Optometry with Dr. Chris Likens in 1985. They are both founding member of the American Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Section, the California Optometric Association, and the Orange County Optometric Society.

Dr. Wilson received her therapeutics license in 1997 and her glaucoma management training in 2003. Her speciality is contact lens fittings and diagnosing eye health issues.

She and her husband live in Irvine. Their 2 children went through the Irvine school system and are now in college. Dr. Wilson has been very active as a «Baseball» mom and a «Cheerleading» mom. Dr. Wilson and her daughter also spent 6 years in National Charity League volunteering many hours in a variety of philanthropies. Her interests include travel, digital photography, running, and baking.

With the plethora of optometrist choices in Irvine, I’m glad Unilocal steered me here. Everyone at this office is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.
My first appointments were with Dr. Toki, who is very sweet. She is popular and gets booked up quickly, so I would plan in advance when you want to schedule an appointment with her. I had a work conflict come up so I had to reschedule and the office offered me an appointment with a new optometrist Dr. Bracken. He was great too and I’d be happy to go back to him in the future.
I’ve ordered glasses, sunglasses, and contacts from here and have always been satisfied. In fact last year I had extra flex money to spend and ordered my next year of contacts in advance. The office told me that if my prescription changed, they could swap out the boxes as long as I kept the boxes unopened and in new condition.
The selection of glasses and sunglasses is good, and it’s nice that the staff will help you pick out glasses that are flattering, but don’t pressure you into anything. One time I wanted a cheaper pair of glasses because I typically only wear my glasses on at night, and they helped me find a stylish pair.
And the best part, they include chocolates in your bag when you pick up your orders :)

Fitting a senior citizen with cataracts for sunglasses is
«like putting socks on a rooster».
Here is the dilemma … cataracts stops light rays from reaching the retina
… sunglass lenses blocks light the same light the eye needs.
Mr. Robert Lynch, Optometric Director (their glasses guru)
identified the problem and queried Maui Jim headquarters in Peoria Illinois for answers multiple times.
Mr. Robert Lynch is the Definition of perseverance … «if you are going through hell, keep going.
He never made excuses … Mr. Robert Lynch and his staff couldn’t do more.
I can’t stress this enough Woodbridge Optometry is be far the best optical office around.

I was wearing one of my Tom Ford sunglasses on my shirt and when I leaned over to pick up my daughter in her stroller it flew off and hit the concrete floor. One of the lens popped out. I tried putting the lens back in but it was difficult because the lens was held in by a fish line. I kept trying and eventually broke the line. I found Woodbridge Optometry here on Unilocal,gave them a call and they said they can definitely fix it. As soon as I got there, they greeted me and told me it would be a minute till someone would help me.
The receptionist greeted me and took my Tom Ford’s to get fixed. They were done in less than 15 minutes. They were like brand new. When I asked what the cost was, she said I didn’t have to pay. I told her I am not a customer of theirs and she said not to worry. I couldn’t believe it. No one even put me through the discomfort of trying to sell me product. I walked out a very happy «customer». I will definitely come back if needed and I will recommend this business.

My family and I have been coming to Woodbridge Optometry for over 15 years. Now, I am sorry to say that we will be shopping around for a new office. I was told by Dr. Toki that I should wear daily lenses instead of two-​week lenses. She said she wrote the prescription for both, so that if I changed my mind I could order the daily lenses and start wearing those. That was at the end of September, when I had my annual checkup ($ 237). Last week, I tried ordering daily lenses instead of two-​week lenses, and I was told that there was no prescription for daily lenses, and that Dr. Toki wanted to re-​evaluate my eyes, even though it had BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR. It had barely been 7 months, and my eyes haven’t changed much in the last several years. The re-​evaluation for just contacts will cost another $ 97, or I can wait until September when my annual exam is due. I was told to switch to daily lenses because they would be better for my eyes, but it seems that woodbridge optometry is more interested in making money off me than truly helping me with my eye care/​health. For that, I’m no longer a fan or a customer. Walmart gives better service than this.

By far, the best optical office all around. From the time you walk in, the front desk greets you with a smile, the doctors are very friendly and listen to your concerns, and the opticians are so nice and patient (for someone like me, who can’t make up their mind on what eyeglass frames they want). We had initially come here to fill my daughter’s prescription, because their frame selection is enormous. We were so impressed with the staff and how friendly and accommodating they were that now our entire family comes here. We won’t go anywhere else. You shouldn’t either.

I’ve been coming to Woodbridge Optometry for 20+ years, and I’ve always had an excellent experience. Dr. Likens is awesome, as is the staff. It’s not often you see the same faces at a place of business for so many years (a shout out to Julie and Bob) and that is a testament to all the doctors here — it feels like family. Dr. Likens pays attention to the activities I’m involved in so that we choose the best course of action with regard to my vision care. Recently I had a medical issue regarding my eye, and I was able to be seen right away by Dr. Toki, who is also wonderful. Over the years, the office has grown and moved, but never far from its original location. The offices are always clean, inviting, and they always have the most up-​to-​date technologies in place. I love coming here!

I can’t say enough amazing things about this entire office, the doctors and staff! Everyone I encounter is so incredibly sweet and professional with me and other customers. Dr. Takeda is probably one of my favorite people and I feel like she gives me the most genuine care. I recently had LASIK and have spent quite a bit of time here for routine follow up appointments which drove me to write this review, considering most people really only see their eye doctor once a year.
I also recently got blue light filters on a pair of glasses because I spend so much time at a computer and wanted to protect my eyes, especially post-​LASIK. My experience choosing frames and working with the staff from that perspective was enjoyable as well!
I can’t say enough good things about how I am treated every time I have an appointment.

Every time I come here there is a problem. I put up with it for convenience and but I just had the last straw.
The first time they didn’t order my contacts. I asked them two weeks later where my contacts were and they said oops sorry I didn’t order them.
Another time they threw away my contacts to give me new contacts and they didn’t have my prescription. So I had to go with a higher prescription.
The front ladies can never read my insurance and try to get me to pay more for my visit.
The straw that broke the camels back is my husband has never been and he needed contacts. So I booked him an appointment, almost out of contacts he shows up to his appointment they tell him the doctor has to leave and can’t see you now. They didn’t call him, no warning. He goes okay when can they see me next. 6 WEEKS!!! What the hell! He says I only have a few days left of contacts. They just tell him sorry.
What kind of business is this!!!
The doctors charge you $ 50 if your a no show, can I charge them for flaking?
Never never go here!!! Take your business elsewhere!
Update: they reached out to me to try to make this better. They are now saying his appointment was on a different day. He works in Burbank and works from home on Fridays. He would always book a Friday appointment not on a Tuesday. But they are now trying CYA on a public forum. It’s easy to try paint me out as in the wrong. People beware!

Friendly staff, clean facility, and great selection. The price is not the best but I don’t expect internet prices from a brick-​and-​mortar location. Dr. Likens was awesome, kind, and thorough his exam. He takes into account my activities (skydiving, competitive shooting, etc) when choosing comfortable contacts. Couldn’t ask for a better place.

Como precisei ficar aqui mais tempo que imaginava, resolvi procurar uma ótica próxima e fazer um novo. O google mostrou um local que eu considero fast food (minha opinião) na área ocular. Resolvi sair um pouco da cidade onde estou e seguir os comentários sobre a Woodbridge Optometry. A primeira coisa que me fez ir até lá foi saber que o local existe há 30 anos, o que eu super levo em consideração. Peguei o meu carro e fui até lá… Para começar eu fui bem atendida e direcionada a sessão de armações, cinco minutos depois apareceu a Janet, uma recém contratada que me ajudou a escolher a melhor opção. Eu estava procurando por um estilo próprio, com significado, personalidade e cor diferenciada. Ela por sua vez, fez todas as perguntas corretas e só mostrou o essencial. Confesso que foi bem difícil a minha escolha e ela com toda calma me proporcionou uma ótima experiência (coisa que eu não tive em outros lugares). Acredito que quando vamos comprar um óculos, precisamos uma pessoa experiente que precisa saber o que a outra pessoa está procurando. Óculos é um cartão de visita, que fala muito da sua personalidade um «Statement». Foram 13 escolhas, diminuimos para 4, 2 e finalmente o grande escolhido… tudo com a ajuda da Janet. Posso dizer que tive uma das melhores experiências na compra de um óculos e considero um dos meus locais favoritos. Sou moradora da Florida e Brasileira, reconheço um bom atendimento. Minha prescrição esta no arquivo e tenho certeza se precisar de algo novo, não pensarei duas vezes em solicitar, se for o caso, um novo óculos aqui na California para ser enviado à Florida. I had my first ever visit to this office and am very impressed.
This is by far the friendliest staff and most knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. Had a very thorough exam.
The office is also the most modern and technologically updated I have ever been to. We are now in a digital era and they most definitely kept up with it.
I love that I was able to submit my new patient forms online ahead of time.
I did not have to wait very long either.
I have been using the Optomap machine at my previous doctors and I’m glad this office has it too. No pupil dilation.
As a bonus, the décor is clean and beautiful.
One star off for not being given my prescription UNTIL I asked for it and when I did it was not immediately available. I was only handed a receipt for my out-​of-​pocket expense.
I was told the Rx was not finalized by the doctor and that they will email it to me within the hour. I don’t understand why that was the case.
My understanding of the Prescriber Obligations under the new Federal Contact Lens law rule, is that I am to be given a copy immediately upon completion of the exam/​fitting.
A fact sheet from the Board of Optometry (State of CA Dept of Consumer Affairs):
«Eyeglass prescriptions must be released immediately following the eye exam.
Contact lens prescriptions must be released immediately upon completion of the eye exam or the contact lens fitting (if a fitting is necessary).»
That means, I shouldn’t even have to ask for it right? And that it «must be released immediately». Am I interpreting that incorrectly? I’ll put back the star if I am.
All the other offices I’ve been to have given me a copy of the Rx for contacts and glasses without me asking and without needing to wait.
Another star off because after returning home I found out that I am ineligible for contact lens benefits because the office had pulled some kind of authorization for them two days prior to my visit. But I’m not ordering through this office though. I had to call my insurance company the next day to have them clear it up with the office.
I didn’t have this problem ever at other doctors’ offices.
Is this is a common «issue», that happens to most people? I’ll put back the star if it is.

THE BEST! My whole family and I have been in during the last six months for eye exams and glasses. Appointments need to be booked several weeks in advance (plan ahead) but when each of us arrived for our appointments — they were friendly and running on time.
REBECCA was awesome :) She picked out great frames for each of us, giving great suggestions based on our face shape and type of correction we needed. She also helped us used our vision insurance to receive the best benefit — saving us money!
I HIGHLY recommend Woodbridge Optometry for your eyes!

I came to Woodbridge Optometry 4 years ago after issues with another office near UCI. In these four years, I’ve seen three doctors in this office and Dr. Takeda is the best! She listened to all my problems and I left this time feeling great about my vision — and hopefully no more headaches!
Wish they would carry more frames, as each time I get a new pair of glasses, I’m limited to about 5 pairs, which are also on the pricier side. However, I do have a very strong prescription (my contacts are –9.0 to give you and idea), and understand that I just can’t pick out any frame. However, everyone I’ve encountered in this office is helpful in finding something that will work for me.

The office is beautiful and has great selection of glasses. The staff is very helpful and very accommodating. I came here with a friend to help them determine what to do with a Persol blue frames that my friend already owned. I recommended to get a gradient blue prescription lenses installed in the frames. They did a fantastic job of the lenses! The lenses goes from a blue at the top of the lense to clear at the bottom. It looked ½ regular and ½ suglasses at the same time, depending on the lighting.
Since the 1st pair looked really great, my friend is currently converting another frame (tortoise frame by Oliver People) with gradient lenses. My friend opted for yellow but I convince them with go with a orange-​yellow. Since they did not have sample color lenses, they created one orange and one orange yellow lens to compare before creating the final product.
Excellent customer service and great accommodations when creating beautiful eyewear.
