Tony’s Custom Tailoring & Menswear

Before I came to this location, I wanted to check out several locations in irvine that did alterations. I had a rough idea about pricing but wanted to compare the quality and services together. Prior to visiting Tony’s Tailoring, i had a rough idea that the cost would be about $ 25. I decided on letting this place do my alterations (I had a gold dress that needed to be cut shorter and hugged on the sides/​tighter); the vietnamese woman who helped me mark my dress to exact fit mentioned a discount for $ 35 but i told her about my other alteration place had a better deal; she lowered the price to $ 30 but i told her I would only say yes if the price matched the other location. The man behind the counter (Tony) gave the final «ok» to giving me that deal, and i trusted them with my garment. As a result, I feel that this place is very reasonable and both the woman +Tony are excellent at what they do. In my honest opinion, they do charge way higher than other locations, but the do negotiate with you if need be. I would recommend and come back because their alteration quality is very good. My dress was perfect when i picked it up!

I was referred to Tony’s by my local dry cleaners. I had just purchased an $ 800 sport coat and needed the sleeves taken up a bit. The buttons on the sleeves had a special design so I asked and was VERY clear that I wanted the button stiches to look identical to the way they came with the jacket. They said they’d have to send it out and it would cost me $ 45 but they could do it. They said come back in a week it will be done. A week goes by I come back and they guy, im assuming Tony, says he tried calling me (which was BS), to say that it was going to actually cost $ 65 b/​c they had to send a lot of time on it. I was pissed I drove back (20 mins) when they said it would be done, a simple phone call from them would’ve been nice. Anyways I say fine go ahead I want it to look right and I’ll pay the new price. i said just be sure it looks IDENTICAL to the way it is now and even pointed out the special blue stitching. He said come back in a few days. So I come back a few days later, he pulls out the jacket and I have a look and the stitching they used was PURPLE. If they actually looked at the other buttons they would’ve seen the correct color. I said this is clearly purple, he tried to tell me it just looked that way. I grabbed the sleeve buttons and put them next to the main jacket buttons and it was obvious they were different colors. He then says I’ll take care of it and come back in a day. So now im on trip #3 to this place (it’s 35mins round trip from my house). I come back a few days later he pulls out the jacket and this time the buttons looked much better and the color of the stitching was correct. However, i roll up the sleeve and instead of doing it the right way and pulling back the lining they sewed the stitching right thru the lining. I said this is not right and looks terrible. Instead of him just owning up to it and saying it didn’t look right, he made it worse by giving me some BS answer that it made the buttons stronger. it made me even more mad for him to think i was that stupid. It looks like a 6 year old did it. I was really pissed, this is an $ 800 jacket and while yes I am picky i was specific on what i wanted. Even if I wasn’t how can a professional sew stitching thru the liner. It looks terrible. I wouldn’t bother with this place ever again.

Excellent tailor. I like to have a lot of my clothes tailored and haven’t had too many issues in the past but in Irvine I tried two other places with terrible results. The first place altered my work button shirt too small so I had to junk it. Definitely wasn’t happy. They gave me a refund and altered a new shirt, which came out like they did nothing at all. Never going there again. The second place altered the same shirt and it was still baggy on me. I don’t understand how that can happen when it’s measured on me while I’m wearing it. So I took it here to Tony’s and the measurement took literally (not figuratively) 30 seconds and came out perfect. And lastly was only $ 20. I am very happy and will take my clothes to them from now on.

Excellent service! I came to Tony less than a month ago saying I need it no later than July 3^rd and he only met with me twice and my tux jacket fit perfect and went perfectly with my Great Gatsby Wedding theme. I imagined it and he made my dream jacket come true! Thank you!!!

I had 2 shirts custom made here. They charged $ 100 for each one, although they were the least expensive material. I came to pick them up but they were both extremely tight and had to go back twice for alterations. To his credit, he eventually agreed they were beyond repair. He agreed to start from scratch and made me another 2 after I brought him a shirt from home so he could copy the sizes. Now, after just one machine wash, they look like they are coming apart at the seams and also at the hems. Very poor craftsmanship. I was shocked, this never happened with other shirts I bought or had custom made. Would definitely not go back for anything. I had a much better experience with
although I had to measure myself and email them the sizes. They got it right the first time, quality is much better and the price is around $ 65 per shirt. I feel sorry to say this, because he seems like a nice guy but don’t waste your money here!

I can not believe I just had 3 cotton maxi dresses hemmed for 75.00. This place is a rip off. I asked if they had a coupon to help with cost of their pricey service. The lady said yes I can give you a coupon when you come back. I don’t think I will be coming back to get over charged for a simple hem. This place used to be great. when the original owner was the seamstress. I would give it less then a !, but they did not loose my clothes.

This is a cute tailoring place in Irvine. Their prices are real affordable. I had to get my husband’s pants hemmed, they charged $ 5 for one leg and they did a great job. I think it took them one day to fix it. They were friendly and nice too. Would go back to them again.

Just took two suits that I bought from Tony 7 years ago with double pleats and cuffs and asked him to change them to a modern cut, ie take out the pleats and cuffs, tighten the jacket, shorten the length of the jacket.
Just got them back, they did a fantastic job. Looks like a new suit. Got both done in one week, and they practically had to rebuild the pant and jacket and the cost was less than the price of one new suit from anywhere.
Tony and his guys are the best. They have made a suit and 5 shirts for me from scratch just like the Hong Kong tailors and the result was amazing.
They are real tailors, not an alteration shop. They can make anything you want and the price is very reasonable.

Tony is definitely my new go to man for alterations =D
Amazingly great work for an amazingly fair price.
Altered my oversized suit I got on sales at Banana Republic to fit me like a GLOVE. And it wasn’t a little oversized… it was A LOT oversized (both the jacket and the pants)!
He also hemmed my wife’s bridesmaids dress and she LOVED the finish.
The dress was 5 layered too (whatever that means) and my wife is tough to please.
Definitely recommending all my family and friends.

My go-​to place to tailor my pants, jeans, suits… it’s a little pricier than other places but I believe you get what you pay for. Never been dissatisfied over the years coming here. I get my jeans altered using original hemming and it’s always spot on. I bring in my business slacks and they always get it right.

One of my favorite tailors. Tony is a sweet guy who goes out of his way to make his customers happy. I came in with my sister to get our dresses hemmed for a wedding last minute and he did an amazing job. Prices are reasonable. Defs will come back.

Not sure what the name is of the lady that owns the store but she is really nice, affordable and prompt. She got a couple of pants and jeans done within a few hours for an extra cost. I’ve been here when it was a man running the shop and it seems he just fills in for her if she’s not there. He really doesn’t know much about alterations so I suggest coming back when she’s around so that you get your point across. FYI she told me she was moving her shop to another location really soon so make sure you go to her new location if she moved already.

I came to Tony’s custom tailoring 3 days before my wedding with a tuxedo I had had made 14 years ago that was now way too baggy. He was very friendly and fitted the tux so it was slimmer and said to come back in two days (the day before my wedding). When I picked it up and tried it on, it was a great fit. Super friendly and reasonable prices for great work.

The hem in my pants came loose while I was in the office. I had a few important client meetings and no time to run home to change. On my way to see my client, I dropped by Susana’s. Not only did they fix my pants on the spot, but I was in and out in less than five minutes!
Thanks again, Susana’s! You saved me from some embarrassing meetings.

I came to Susana’s Tailoring on a recommendation from a J. Crew employee of all people but since his clothes looked nice and tailored, I decided to give Susana’s a try when I needed alterations done on a shirt. I was told by the J. Crew guy that a shirt should only be about $ 15 and to mention that I was a first time client for a discount but when I went into the store and after the changes were discussed, I was quoted $ 30! Even when I asked about a first time client discount, I was denied. Either I was just told the wrong information or the seamstress just wasn’t in a good mood haha. All I needed done was to take the sleeves and shirt in since it was a bit too big for me. So 4 days later (which also seemed like a long turnaround time for just 1 shirt) when the shirt was done, I was happy with the end result but thought that it was just too expensive. Not sure if I’ll be back here.

First, I would like to say, Jenny is a sweetheart.
The tailors/​seamstresses here do a good to great job depending on the type of work.
I’ve visited many tailors and it is extremely difficult to find one that does an adequate job AND provides good customer service.
I’ve had all sorts of tailoring done here — shoulders on dresses, hems on dresses and pants, things taken in, etc.
Their best work, in my opinion, is a simple shoulder dress alteration.
I would not recommend hemming your pants here. Again, just picked a my jeans & the right leg is longer than the left & sewn slightly crooked. I intend on taking it to another tailor to get it fixed. Too bad.
Their prices are fair depending on the alteration. I’ve gone to more expensive places and less expensive places and the price is reflected in their work. Some places charge more and do a poor job & vice versa.
I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice tailor/​seamstress who does a good job… again, I recommend should alteration & not pants hem.

If you are going there and the lady is not around, good luck with telling the gentleman what you need to be done. Holly C#@&, I was playing pantomime for 5 mins to show I needed a simple hem on my jeans. He was looking at me like I am talking Greek… like walking around me, putting his hand under his chin, staring at my jeans, and nodding. lol
I used to go to Spatola Tailoring across the street from South Coast Plaza which is now closed (unbelievable). I’d say Susana’s is far more expensive compare to Spatola and the tailoring job is not as clean and neat as Spatola. I paid ~ $ 75 for hemming 3 jeans and fixing a waist. YIKES!

Tony’s reminds me of some place that could be in downtown L.A. but it’s smack dab in the middle of Irvine. It is hard to find a good place to get clothes altered\ tailored. Usually you are stuck with your local dry cleaners who have someone come in once in a while to do alterations and it’s expensive. Fortunately Tony’s does a great job at a very reasonable price.
Pants hemmed used to be just 10 bucks but my last pair was 13, still a good deal for quality work. The local dry cleaners charges $ 20 for the same thing and it takes a few days longer. Obvious choice.
I have been coming here for a while and they are consistently good. They are the choice of a couple of area high schools for all of their sports and band uniforms. They rent tux’s too.
Anyhow if you are looking for a quality place at a fair price in Irvine then make Tony’s your tailor.

I ripped my favorite denim skirt on the way to something and going home to change was out of the question. In a panic I Unilocaled for denim repair in the area and Susana’s came up to be the top rated. I stopped by and showed the lady the rip, and she said «no problem, I patch it so it wouldn’t rip again, I do it now» Lo and behold, 10 minutes and $ 10 later, my skirt was fixed! It looks great and feels sturdy.
Loved the fast service, reasonable price, and good results. Would definitely come here again
