I had an issue with a ceiling fan in my living room and requested quotes from half a dozen electricians. I sent requests through Unilocal,and all of them replied within the same day, including Jeff. I was pleased to find out that only South County Drywall offered free in-home estimates while every other company was charging for a service call. That would have been the only positive I’d be giving these guys if they actually came to the appointment.
I live in a new development and because of this, my address doesn’t show up on most online maps. Knowing this, when I called to schedule the appointment, I told the woman over the phone the general location of my home. I didn’t hear from anyone up to the appointment date/time (1 pm). I had to call the company back and inquire where the technician was. Long story short, Jeff called me back (1:05 pm) clearly frustrated saying that he couldn’t find the place. I tried giving him directions, but it was obvious he wasn’t having it. He rudely asked «tell me what you need», «it’s $ for ceiling fans», «it’s that simple». I was shocked and disappointed. I didn’t take off of work early to make this appointment just to get blown off.
Conclusion? Don’t deceive customers with «free in-home estimates». And if you’re lost, any reasonable person would call for directions. I’m never calling this company for any kind of service again. I’d much rather spend twice what these guys are charging than to deal with their nonsense again.

I recently had some drywall repair work done in my home by South County Drywall. Some drywall needed to be replaced and then textured. Tino came out and did a great job of replacing the drywall, and the texture he applied matched perfectly to the rest of the wall. Then the company sent Gil out to do the painting. He did a super job lightly sanding and priming the area. Then he put two coats of paint on it. The paint job turned out great. You can’t even tell there was a repair done on the wall! I highly recommend South County Drywall.

They are good as it gets. They came on time, maintained a clean environment, and the work was flawless. After removing the brick fireplace, what was left were the bones of the wall. The drywall is now on with a perfect texture match to the adjacent drywall. It is now ready to be painted. Great price, great job, could not be more pleased.

We’ve had 2 slab leaks and both times Jeff’s guys came over and patched the holes perfectly. They are quick, efficient, professional, and do a great job for a great price. This most recent repair was able to be repaired within 2 days of receiving the estimate. They even did a better job than the original drywallers did on a curved wall. For drywall repairs I won’t go anywhere else. South County Drywall is the best! They have a customer for life.

People dont realize it but drywall repair is an art. To do it well with no visible lines and seams takes talent, craft skills and hard work. I have referred these guys and worked with them on several jobs and they are top notch with excellent skills and artistry.

Extremely impressed with the attention to detail and quality of work! We’ve had SCD help us with home projects a few times but most recently with our fireplace and media area. The ugly brick and large empty spaces behind our flat screen TV were a complete eyesore. SCD to the rescue! They flawlessly added drywall and created two nooks with recessed lighting which flanked the TV. Plus they painted the fireplace brick giving it a clean look! Nick the electrician is outstanding and I book him any time we have electrical issues. In fact, he was the one who got the ball rolling on this project! Ashley in the main office is fabulous as well. Always on top of scheduling and helpful with all of my questions. I recommend specifically dealing with these two people when using this company. Oh and did I mention that they did all this for just about $ 1000? I got 4 other quotes from a variety of other companies/handyman/contractors and they all ranged from $ 2500-$ 5000+. Couldn’t be happier and will be calling them again soon!

Tried to hire this company a few years ago to do a new ceiling, canned lights and new walls in a room of my house that previously had wood paneling and ceiling tiles. This was back in 2011. Someone came out from this company, did a walk through and said they would get back to me with an estimate and never did. Jeff the owner called after reading my review on Unilocal which curiously is now missing from this company Unilocal’s site. This was back in 2012 about 5 months after the work was done. My guess is that they made a new Unilocal site after receiving tons of complaints and horrible reviews. I told him I would have hired him if he got back to me but after reading the reviews I am glad I didn’t. Btw, I paid the other contractor $ 8,000 for about 5 days of work. Sucks to be South County Drywall.

Disappointed that South County Drywall wouldn’t pull permits for their work. We were ready to have them update our kitchen lighting and repair drywall. Ron visited our home twice and gave us a decent estimate. When I called to ask about them pulling a permit I was told we would have to do that ourselves, which means they assume no liability. I canceled our job via email and their crew still showed up. Nice company, great reviews, just wish they’d stand by their work!

I wanted to thank Tammy, Jeff and the crew at SCD. I made the mistake of using another contractor when I redid my garage 18 months ago. Their work was horrible. One entire wall in my garage still looked horrendous. Pretty discouraging after spending thousands of dollars on epoxy flooring, and of course, new paint on the walls. They told me it would look brand new. It looked horrible. Fast forward to 18 months later. My neighbors house is for sale and I noticed how beautiful his ceiling and kitchen looked, especially their canned lights! Who did the work? SCD, of course. That’s all I needed. I called Tammy and said I want to finish my kitchen ceiling (It still had an industrial light from well over 15 years ago.) I also said, please fix the garage wall. I won’t bore you with the details but it really needed a lot of work.
Here we are less than two weeks later. Not only does my kitchen look fantastic, my garage is finally as nice as I wanted it to be 18 months ago.
Thanks again SCD. You really do beautiful and affordable work.

The most unprofessional a-hole company I’ve ever dealt with. Jeff, the owner, hates women, from what I can tell. He’ll bang on your door almost breaking it down to greet you. He’s the most impatient awful person I’ve ever met. He yelled at me and acted like a complete psychopath. Even his workers were mortified and told me they were sorry. Do not hire this company. AWFUL! Stay away!
After seeing his bs reply below it reminds me. As he was leaving he screamed (not exaggerating) while still on my porch «What a B I T CH!!!» that even my neighbor heard. Wow. Some amazing professionalism isn’t it! He also mocked me all the way to his car. Zero class.
Jeff, when you show up for the appointment an HOUR early and pound on my door like you’re the cops, you’re likely to be greeted with a surprised and a bit shaken customer. And for the record we are the CUSTOMER. I didn’t realize I needed to PLEASE YOU. We’ve had a ton of contractors work at our home, and they’ve all tried to make us happy. You showed up on our door that morning with an ax to grind. There was NOTHING «polite» that came out of your mouth that morning — absolutely nothing. You were simply horrible.

These guys are really great! We added some recessed lights in our kitchen and pendant lights over our new island and this company exceeded all our expectations. Their estimator (Ron) showed up on-time and provided a very reasonable quote for the work. The day of the job, their crew Nick and Gambino arrived on-time and carefully masked-off the work area to minimize the dust elsewhere in the house. We removed a couple of old recessed cans and the drywall patch and texture match on the ceiling are as good as I’ve seen from any contractor.
Nick was really meticulous about the measurements for the new lights and pendants and all the electrical work was up to code. We upgraded the recessed fixtures to new 6″ energy efficient LED type since the price was too good to pass up.
We’ll definitely keep these guys in Rolodex for the next job that comes up. Very professional company!

South County Drywall recently worked on my parents new condo purchase in Irvine. I was impressed by their speed, professionalism, and bargaining power! They were willing to negotiate on some of their quotes and were very priced very reasonable. They removed the popcorn ceiling, painted, put the can lighting in the kitchen and it all looks great! They painted the whole condo!

I called the day before, around 3:30pm, to confirm my appointment because I didn’t hear from anyone. I left a message on the answering service but never heard back. The next day I received a call at 7:50am (appointment time 8am) informing me that they weren’t able to make it. She was very apologetic and assured me that the crew would be out the next day, even if they had to rearrange their schedule. They arrived as promised, worked all day to remove the ceiling and apply texture, locked my door and left. I stopped in after work to take a look:
— The ceilings were nicely done, both with respect to the scraping and the texture coat
— Interior floors were left clean
— The light fixtures were left dangling and the ceiling tracks for the wardrobe doors were removed in the bedrooms.
— Outside was left a little messy with ceiling material scattered about and white footprints leading down the sidewalk to the parking area.
I called and left a message on the answering service asking about the closet doors and lights — they took them down, were they going to put them back up? Ashley called back but couldn’t answer my questions so she referred me to Tammy. I received a call from Tammy a few days later. She offered to send someone back to put the doors back up and mount the lights but I declined.
Overall, I think they could have left the exterior a little cleaner and it would have been nice to know ahead of time that I would be responsible putting things up that they took down.

I have been a contractor since 1977 and retired this last December. I bought a beat up condo unfit for human consumption. Since my unit had popcorn on ceiling Jeff recommended that I texture over it. It was much less messy as I am on The Second Floor. He did and re-textured my entire house. Job 2 some months later he put recessed lights in my kitchen and re-located my doorbell sensor which was hidden under the dropped ceiling. He did the electrical and drywall and painted my kitchen ceiling.
Fast forward 3 years later I decided to install a ceiling fan and light in my living room. I should have done this originally but can’t win em all. 3 separate jobs over a 3 year period and all earned 5 stars. As a contractor I have seen everything imaginable go wrong even when I did the work. So I do highly recommend and they give you a price and do the work. Good Company!

My co-worker and I bought our homes recently and have been swapping phone numbers/info on people we have used to do home improvement…
South County Drywall have done an outstanding job– on his house and mine!!! I’ve used them twice in two months already!!!
The first time was to install recessed lighting in the living room/master bedroom and mount a new ceiling fan. My house is over 25 years old– so they had to do all the electrical work to code.
The second time (which was today!!) they installed a complicated chandelier and wall sconce with hanging crystals. The electrician and assistants maintained a great disposition when they saw how in depth it had to be and it ended up going a lot faster than anticipated…
I plan to use them again when I figure out what I’m putting above my dining room table…
Everyone I’ve worked with (the people that represented them personally and the ladies that works behind the scenes) have been professional and very customer oriented…

First post on Unilocal!
After reading the reviews I called for an estimate and Jeff showed the next day. I originally wanted drywall repairs in my hallway. Jeff and I discussed recessed lighting in my living room. I wanted 3 directional and 4 can lights. I also talked with Jeff about my TV install.
I got a quote for all 3 jobs and the rest is history.
Nick their electrician for the lights and TV install is very professional and tedious.
Nick took photos of all the electrical wiring in my attic and emailed them. Nick worked his tail off for my TV install. He made it happen and my family couldn’t be happier with his efforts.
Beto & Javier the drywall repair techs. Well, they are just as good as Nick. They made it look easy and the mess very minimal.
I found a company that will get called for my next project and any electrical needs.
All you guys that want a custom TV install with all wires and components hidden in another room, Nick is the guy. I just can’t say enough good things about Nick, Beto & Javier.

I signed up for Unilocal just so I could write this review. If you need anything done to your home– there should be no other choice.
I got a quote from South County Drywall to cover a living room niche. I decided to also ask about paint and a few other updates & was quickly convinced that no one else can beat them.
The customer service and quality of work is hands down the best in the industry. Add fair pricing and efficiency to that and that is why there is no comparison. I’ve had recommendations from friends and family but I’m happy I chose to follow my gut. What started out with covering a niche, ended up with canned lights in the kitchen, painting 1400 square foot condo, chandelier installs on 35 foot ceilings and painting a ‘laundry closet’ as well. Any price increase was disclosed to me prior to them doing the work. They checked in with me and clarified all the important details.
Exceptional job done within one week and instant availability and follow through.
Seriously do not waste your time with anyone else. I can’t say enough about how exceptional they are. There is no reason to shop around. They did in 1 week what everyone said would take 1 ½ months to do.
Look no further and do not waste your time. Jeff will take care of you and his wife Tammy is amazing.
