Established in 2005.

Mariners Pest Control, Inc. began in the garage of a one bedroom apartment with Nathan and one employee and serviced Orange County California. In the last seven years, Mariners has grown to over 30 employees with over 7500 square feet of office providing localized termite treatments, fumigations, and structural repair in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and the entire San Francisco Bay area.

After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 1996, Nathan began working in the termite industry as a carpenter, and then became licensed as a field representative working with two different companies before opening Mariners Pest Control, Inc. in 2005.

We needed to get a mandated termite inspection and after calling several of the large «famous» companies, we called Mariners. They gave us a true and honest appraisal of the issues and how to correct them. Their pricing was very fair and we were able to conveniently schedule the work. Best of all, they have a guarantee to return to your home and retreat any reoccurrence. Great staff, I highly recommend.

Called Mariners to have them come check our place. The inspector, Shawn, was great and did find some unwanted guests chewing into one section. It hadn’t spread too far and the technicians who got scheduled to do the work were right on time and got it done without any issues — spraying and a little woodwork. Everything was nice and clean when they were done and the work comes with a warranty so I can call them back if I think I see anything small and wiggly. Had a much more pleasant experience than with other companies I’ve had out here so I highly recommend these guys.

We just tented our house with Mariner’s Pet Control last week and really happy with their service. Shawn came and gave us a good price and without any pressure. He also very good at pickup the phone and take time to answer many of my questions.
The team that came to do the actually work is also very nice. I noticed they took the time to make sure all my bagging was correctly done. They came one time and left the house the way it was.
Another nice thing was they also took care of calling the gas company to turn off and also turn it back on.
The Customer service are also pleasant to work with. Over all it was great company to work with.

We had to tent the house and Shawn came recommended from another contractor doing work for us. He was punctual, professional and very pleasant to work with. For what it’s worth he also answered his phone when I called vs. having to leave a message and await a callback. This was my first fumigation experience. The team they had come in were very nice, did what they said they’d do, and left the house like they said they would. They did seem to push the limit of making their scheduled window, but in the end they did the job in a timely manner.
I felt the price was fair and competitive. There are some cheaper deals out there, but it doesn’t always mean they’ll do the same job Mariner’s did. One very nice service they provide is handling the appointments with the gas company for *both* turn off and turn on. Additionally they got the turn on scheduled on the 3rd day. Some other companies leave it up to the homeowner to worry about turning the gas back on, and often require you to schedule it the following day.
I can always hope I’ll never have to call Shawn again. But if/​when that day comes, I have no reason to call anyone else.

Mariner’s was great! I was working on a short time frame for the close of escrow. They came out the next day, gave me the estimate on the spot, worked with me on the price, and came out first thing the next morning to do the work. They were more than prompt, very courteous, accessible, and responded to my emergency needs even though it was not their emergency. The work was well done and Shaun and Juan were very nice to have working on my house… very nice people. Shaun was very helpful with the inspection and the estimate. He found more than the first company, and worked it out to do more repair work for the same price. I would highly recommend this company!

The team that worked on our house were not only on time, but early within their time block. They lead guy was informative and patient as he walked the inside of the house with us before the fumigation started. When our 2 ½ days was complete, they were again early within their time block. They left no sign that they had been there, leaving our home clean.
We were aware that we would loose a few outside plants and had removed those that we wanted to save. But would have like to have known ahead that they needed to dig up some of our flagstone and pea-​gravel. We could have taken photos and removed them ourselves as to save the mixing of dirt and gravel, along with having to re-​work those stones that had been dug up. They return crew did try to put the flagstones back, but they had no idea where.
Over-​all a good experience and fair price for a service that no one wants to prepare for.

I have to start off by saying that Mariner’s earned their 5 stars from start to finish. They were prompt with calling us back for an appointment.
We called them and Douglas answered our call for a free estimate. We weren’t sure if our home would need tenting or if a local treatment would do the job. Within a few days of calling Douglas came by. He was thorough with the inspection and honest about what we would need done. We were advised that a simple local treatment would do. Super cool to not have to spend more than we needed. He was super honest, which I always appreciate. We also had some water damaged wood and termite damaged wood panels around the house. Within one week we had an appointment and the guys doing the job were punctual, efficient and helpful in answering all our questions. They replaced all the damaged wood, facia and windowsills that needed to be repaired ALL IN ONE Day! I can’t tell you how awesome it is to have all the work completed in one day AND by the same company. They did it all … termite treatments and wood work. Not many companies we called offered treatment as well as wood replacement. A job well done!

The boat was tented in the water at South Coast Shipyard in Newport as I was hauling out for bottom paint. The guys came on time and were great with the unusual shape and size of the boat verses a house. They were careful and did an awesome job. Unwrap was on time again and quick.
Still fighting persistent subterranean termites but Shaun is very polite and confident that we will get them.

Sometimes these companies have weird practices that in the past have left me wondering if I overpaid or bought something I didn’t need. I’ve worked with this company a few times now and have never once felt that way. As a business owner myself I know what it takes to leave clients happy, and this company does it well. I never write reviews and I had to do this for this company. I am a Real Estate agent and I deal with pest control companies regularly. Darryn Groff went above and beyond for me. I have now used him on multiple properties and he is always available. He makes every effort to get over to the property as soon as possible and it is always FAST!!! Then the pricing for the work is not even comparable to other companies. It is so much lower! This company does a great job and I am so grateful to have found them! Thank you Darryn. A+. Been a customer for over a year. Bought our house in November 2014. House is almost 50 yrs old with lots of wood Inside and outside. Sean worked on our house and he is super thorough. Sean gets an A++. I am a mother with young children and my husband and I are both doctors in healthcare so we are extremely nit-​picky and ask a million questions. Sean explained everything so logically and put our minds at ease. Sean and Mariners goes above and beyond. The low star reviews must be from competitors bc my experience has been great. We’ve worked with other pest control companies with high pressure sales tactics that scare you into doing more work than you need. Not Mariners. Highly recommend.

We used Mariner’s Pest Control to get rid of rats we had in our attic. They were professional, prompt, and friendly. I was feeling very uneasy about finding rats in our attic after a home inspection and they reassured me that this was a common problem and not as out of control as the original inspection report made it out to be. They were very thorough and walked me through all the areas of termite as well as pest damage and went through all the options I had in great detail. I am relieved not to have any more issues with unwanted critters and am very content that I chose Mariner’s!

We had Sean quote our house for termite damage. He was fair, honest and climbed all over the roof knocking on things determining what should be replaced. The work they did was outstanding and Sean checked in with me and explained what they did as I had questions every day. They don’t take short cuts, and they want your house to look good and often just do the extra work to make it look good at no charge. They are experts at working with old wood and new wood (which is shorter and thinner by the way) try matching that up. The bonus is the mini termite spray in the attic along with the wood replacement job. 5 other homes in our neighborhood have now used him as well.

These guys ripped off my 84-​year-​old mother!
She scheduled an inspection over two weeks in advance; they were supposed to show up between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. — a little before 12:00 she called them because no one had showed up. They said someone would be there by 2:00. No one showed up so she called again after 2:00 P.M. and they said someone would be there by 4:00 P.M. — again no one showed up. She called again after 4:00 P.M. and they said someone would be there by 5:00 P.M. so she said forget it, she’ll just cancel.
They said, sorry you already paid by Amex when you scheduled the work and hung up.
A few minutes later the guy who was supposed to do the inspection called and said he couldn’t get there before 6:00 P. M, so she said don’t bother I’ve already canceled.
Needless to say, the charge is being disputed with Amex right now and they certainly will lose that, but how rotten is a business to try and rip off an elderly lady? Most people wouldn’t have given them the 2nd or 3rd chance to show-​up. This business is simply despicable!
