**Great** check in experience with Drew (Andrew) who went over & above to help out with something I’d forgotten). It’s those moments that make for great customer service with me.
I stay often in Indy, and this hotel is conveniently located for me. That said, there are clearly issues with housekeeping. Randomly, no soap or some such other supply not being restocked. Other than that, a downside could be a lack of a gym, but there’s a brand new YMCA across the street.
Overall, I’m satisfied and the interactions I have with staff in general keep me coming back. Breakfast is served by cheerful, genuinely nice people.

Confession: I am obsessed with cool hotels. And The Alexander definitely falls in that «hip and cool» category.
This boutique hotel is chic, contemporary, and art-​centric with a European flair in the heart of the Wholesale District. It’s just a few blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium, the Convention Center, and Monument Circle. The Alexander occupies a spot on the CityWay complex, which will soon be home to the largest and finest YMCA in the country.
The beloved Cerulean and Platt 99 can be found here, and let me tell you, it is worth a trip just to see Jorge Pardo’s incredible handmade lamps.

–there’s a small health club, but no pool… but really, do you need that when a state-​of-​the-​art YMCA is across the street?
As a full disclaimer, I merely toured the hotel and did not stay here. However, I can tell it would be an exquisite experience.

Very clean, modern, beautiful artsy space. Garage next door was convenient. Walls were thin though as I could hear my neighbors and woke up every time they flushed their toilet…

I stayed here for a business trip recently. I absolutely loved the art installations throughout the lobby/​elevators. My room was spacious, bright and seemed like it recently updated. The bathrooms were well lit so I didn’t have to struggle to do my makeup (always a plus). One of the blonde front desk agents had a pissy attitude, but otherwise staff members were nice and accommodating. Would definitely stay again next time I’m in Indy.

Was really excited to stay here for a wedding in September, but unfortunately the staff was less than helpful or friendly the entire time. We were carrying bags and a wedding gown that was heavy and awkward as we were looking for our room. We had never been there before and it’s easy to get turned around. Not only did the front desk employee laugh when we went to the elevator (apparently it was the wrong elevator but instead of showing us where the right elevator was he decided to laugh at us), but he also simply pointed a general direction for us to go. Would have been wonderful to have someone walk us to the correct elevator as we were weighed down with belongings and unfamiliar with the hotel.
The room was great! Very clean and spacious. The balcony view was beautiful, looking out to Lucas Oil. Everything seemed to be going well after the first mishap, but the night of the wedding a guest had the brides wedding gift delivered to her room. It was never delivered there and they still haven’t given her the gift. She has called numerous times and tried to track down the package, but it’s been a month and no one has been able to send it to her.
A little guest service goes a long way. The hotel was immaculate but that can all go down hill if you don’t treat guests correctly or if you are dishonest.

What can if can i find nice to say about this hotel… hmmmm well… the artwork is cool. other than that. I have to be honest, it was probably the worst hotel experience from a customer service perspective I have had in many years. I travel frequently as many as 150 nights a year in the past, and have stayed in all kinds of hotels from 1 start to 5 star in my travels. This hotel rates at the bottom. There are zero amenities for a business traveler.
MY stay started with a poor check in experience, with a front desk person who was snarky at best and at worst sarcastic. our room was not ready, and we were told that they would call when it was, … they never called. My breakfast experience was horrible as the wait staff totally forgot I was there, the food was cold, and I never did get a bill, finally tossing 20 dollar bill to the bus boy after a 15 minute wait for a server that never came back to my table. The bar only sells bottles of soda? yet they can make a mixed drink with soda, but have no coke or diet coke. The onsite mini store was the smallest I have ever seen with little to nothing that the business traveler would want or need. Every thing else was overpriced, from the $ 4.00 pretzels in the room to the $ 19 double vodka I had in the bar.
I passed by the front desk multiple times, as it is right by the elevators, often the staff were leaning on the glass or looking at their phones and seldom acknowledged me as I walked by.
If you are looking for a decently priced hotel that seems to care little if anything about you as a customer, then this is the place for you.

Want to love this place, but they’re challenging me. Checked into an upper floor room yesterday to discover that someone else’s key card was laying in the room, along with some of their trash. Glasses in the bathroom were dirty, some of the mini-​bar snacks were missing, and used soap and shampoo were in the shower.
Housekeeping responded promptly and made things right, but misses like this are tiresome and make you wonder how well anything is being cleaned.

They turned me away. I had a room booked and they bumped me out to accommodate a Taylor Swift fan.
But everyone knows that Taylor Swift fans are more important than educators.

Beautiful art everywhere you look, friendly staff, an environmentally friendly building and (most important) clean rooms with comfy beds — The Alexander was outstanding.
I had heard wonderful things about The Alexander, and those expectations lived up to reality.
So to start with: Parking. There is a public parking garage right next to the hotel if you don’t want to splurge for valet. Parking overnight cost me $ 20, and if you park on third floor, you can take the pedway directly into the hotel.
One more tip: Even though the spaces are numbered, you can park anywhere, per the hotel staff.
Speaking of, the hotel staff seemed friendly and eager to help any time I encountered a staff person, whether it was at the front desk or at the front door. The front desk clerk also told me that Platt 99 in the hotel serves complimentary truffle popcorn, which I’ll have to try on my next visit.
I also spied the infused water bar near the front desk.
And then once I got to my room, I found it to be beautifully decorated with art hung above the bed and a modern bathroom.
Considering the hotel puts a focus on sustainability, it was great to see how you have to use a room key to turn on the lights in the room — meaning that you will likely not leave the room with the lights still on.
The wifi is free and easily accessible. My TV worked great, and it was easy to navigate through the channels.
And as I mentioned, the bed was heavenly. It was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve slept in. I sometimes have trouble going to sleep in hotels, and I had no problem with that here.
The Alexander is a short five-​minute or so Über ride from downtown Indy.
Really, this hotel replaced the generic that is often found in hotels and put something unique, sometimes avant-​garde and always worth a peek in its place.
I can’t wait to go back!

Ate and drank on the patio bar. Edamame, SMORES! shrimp wraps, cheese boards. All were delicious. Service was great. Waitress forgot a food order and gave it complimentary. Margaritas were perfect

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed at! I love the Alexander hotel, they take an unconventional approach to hospitality. From their intense focus on art and upscale décor to the individualized attention provided to each guest. Reasonably priced and in the heart of downtown, what’s not to love? Their bar, Plat 99 is modern and inventive with unique drinks you won’t find anywhere else with bartenders who are knowledgable and engaging. My recommendation? Order the Indy love drink with basil and cucumber, a refreshing drink no matter the season. Now, onto the actual rooms. The rooms have a laminate flooring that resembles dark hardwood floors with minimal carpeting that is up to date and pairs well with the art theme you will see throughout the hotel. The rooms have clean lines with dark wood finishes and large floor to ceiling windows with view of the city skyline. The linens feel luxurious and have some weight to them. Nothing about the hotel feels cheap or tired, it is extremely clean and transparent. It is connected to Cerulean, a highly recommended restaurant who takes a creative and cultivated approach to cooking. Overall, if you find yourself traveling in Indy and are in search for an experience rather than just a place to sleep, give The Alexander a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I should start this out by saying i’ve been here 3 – 4 times to work, but it has always been extremely nice! Always very clean and updated, even in the «behind the scenes» areas that people normally don’t see. I’ve been able to sample the food they serve for parties and it is awesome. I love the hotel décor!

The Alexander is a newly constructed hotel in downtown Indy. The building was originally designed to be a residential, and this reflects in the cozy structure of the hotel. Within days, you’ll start referring to The Alexander as «Home» :)
The quirks that make The Alexander a unique, lush, and indulgent experience:
— modern and cheerful art in the lobby, hallways, and rooms
— spend some time relaxing in the common area by the lobby– it reminds me of a spacious modern ski log cabin… something about the wood décor and homey living room vibe, against the glass fixtures and roomy interior
— each room’s mini-​bar comes stocked with local Indy popcorns and snack mixes. Irresistible.
— relaxed complementary breakfasts at The Market Table, where you get the full restaurant dining experience with skilled chefs who can custom-​make any egg dish your heart desires
— the Platt 99 bar has a mean cocktail menu with complementary and addictive truffle popcorn
— gumdrops, spa water, and coffee in the lobby
Highly recommend this swamky hotel for a pleasure trip
Note that they do sell out… so make friends with the receptionist, and book in advance!

I’m writing this as I sit in the reading chair in our room. I loved our stay at this hotel! The art installations throughout the hotel are beautiful, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and the rooms were modern, clean and definitely cozy. I came here with my two kids and as soon as they saw us at check in they offered a crib right away and had it sent within minutes of us entering the room. I also asked about using a microwave to warm up my daughter’s milk and they actually brought a microwave to my room. With Yolk being just downstairs, I really don’t know what else to ask for.
I definitely appreciated the hospitality and the courtesy we received during our stay. It was my first impression and stay in Indianapolis and it was certainly a good one.

Our stay was short and sweet. We needed one night as a stopover to Louisville.
I was traveling with my kids (8 and 10). The kids liked the Modern esthetics, the rooms were a generous size as well as the bathrooms. My husband wished for more «hooks» in the bathroom.
It’s really the simple things, robes and slippers, safe was in a drawer. I appreciate that the creamer fir the coffee was liquid and not powder.
We’ll definitely be back to take more advantage of other amenities, like the lobby bar.

This place is absolutely gorgeous, on Pennsylvania street by bankers life field house. I went here for my 21^st birthday. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place ! The lantern lights really brings a uniqueness to this bar, that no others bars have. I have to admit the drink selection is not the best. I would rather them have some more girly drinks rather than manly drinks. The bartender did their best & came up with wonderful drinks for me. I appreciated the service very much ! Definitely would go back (:

I stayed at the Alexander hotel for my wedding night this past weekend. My husband and I were completely floored by the installed art throughout the space and the impeccable service. The hotel itself is a modern work of art, with feng-​shui placed glass walls and views of the city.
We also got a chance to peek into the Plat 99 bar during the daytime when it was not open for business and took a look through their extensive bourbon and Indiana draft pull selection. It looks like they put on interactive «pour and play» cocktail competitions for guests periodically so it’s worth checking out for guests and locals.
We had a king suite with a HUGE bathroom, complete with a glass door shower, 2 sinks, and a large bathtub. And get this, they have a TV built into the mirror! Crazy fancy. They also carry Gilchrist & Soames bath products in the bathroom stock.
All rooms appear to come handy with a Keurig (free coffee and tea) and local snack foods (for a fee).
The bed was luxurious and came with ample bed side lighting dimmers. We also made use of the mini-​fridge to keep our celebratory sparkling wine chilled.
We also received a 2-​fer free breakfast the following morning at their in-​house restaurant, Market Table. Beautiful warm space with modern, almost molecule-​featured light art. They also offered a gelato bar with their breakfast (need I say more).
This place appears to appeal to a slightly younger demographic but I saw all ages staying at the property checking in and out the following morning. Central location to the fieldhouse and stadium for games and to downtown spots. Highly recommend to my style savvy traveling buddies out there in Unilocalland.

I came to Indiana for an incentive trip through my work, and we were booked to stay here at this hotel. As we pulled up to the hotel in our limo, we were greeted by two younger lads, and directed to the front desk to check in. Our check in was quick and painless. The gentleman at the desk was also really friendly and welcoming. He gave us our room keys and directed us promptly.
Once we got into our room, we were amazed at how nice it was! The room was decorated tastefully with modern art, and had a nice king sized bed. The shower was clean and tidy ready for use, and we had a nice view of the bar in the hotel and some of Indianapolis. It was all very nice. We were never bothered by room service, and when we would go out on or adventures throughtout Indiana, the room service left our rooms clean again, and none of our stuff went missing.
The front hall of the hotel was also very well decorated with awesome modern art. Some of which I posted pictures of.
Overall; my experience here was comfortable and fun! The location was also near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, downtown Indianapolis, and other fine dining. It is also not too far from the airport! A very nice place to stay!

This was a wonderful experience.
The hotel screams modern, chic, sleek and comfortable in every single way.
From the auto-​shut down of heat and electrical when you leave the room (which reboots once you put your key in as you walk in) to the living and breathing art museum (is this a hotel or an art museum?) and the cute little hipster touches on even the «do not disturb signs,» there are little surprises in every corner.
The bed was super comfortable. I can just melt into a nice slumber thinking about it. Shower pressure was fantastic and the stay was pretty much perfect. Check out is 11am which is kind of early, but the staff extended is to 12pm when I called which was nice.
It’s a bit of a pricey stay and I think there could be more value delivered for the per night price paid (thus the 4 stars), but if you’re comfortable with it; it’s definitely one of the better hotels I’ve stayed in.

I was in town for the weekend. The Alexander was at the top of my list of places to stay since it was the newest property in downtown Indy and its price was comparable, if not cheaper, than the other downtown hotels during the time of my intended visit. With its boutique feel and bright, airy, quirky interior replete with modern artwork displayed all around the common areas, everything about the Alexander screams hip, modern, and someplace other than Indianapolis. Adding to the Alexander’s appeal is its outstanding cocktail lounge, Plat 99, which is just off the front desk and easily in the discussion as Indianapolis’ best place for craft cocktails and Cerulean, an excellent restaurant on street-​level.
Having driven to Indianapolis, I left my car with valet ($ 29/​day), which while not cheap was less expensive than other’s self-​park prices and seemingly more convenient than self-​parking since the garage was adjacent to the hotel, not underground and accessible by elevator. Friendly valet and front desk staff greeted me immediately and were efficient in their duties during both my arrival and departure. My room was clean with a modern, yet minimalist design. The bed was comfortable giving good back support. The shower was unique to most hotels I’ve stayed with its overhead showerhead.
Although my stay was a brief one, the Alexander impressed me greatly. It may not be for everyone, since its location isn’t as convenient to Lucas Oil Stadium and the Convention Center as other downtown hotels, but it’s still within walking distance. For Indianapolis, it’s definitely a 5-​star hotel. The Alexander is definitely a place I’d stay again.
