All Around Moving Company

This is my second time using All Around Movers and I had a great experience both times. They are quick, efficient and took great care of my furniture. The customer service was fantastic… not only on the move day but prior to that as well. I will definitely call on them again to help me with another move in the future.

These guys did an outstanding job. Junior and Francisco were extremely kind and patient with us. Definitely a moving coming to come back too again.

Johnnie and Junior came to help me move from Austin to Houston. They arrived 10 minutes before time and started loading the stuff right away. They did a great job, and it’s among the best experiences I had with all my previous moves. They took good care of my stuff and everything was delivered in perfect condition. Did I mention that he gave me a great rate too? I would definitely recommend their service.

Great service ! Francesco, Isaac and Junior came in to help us move and they were very helpful. They are very quick and just took us 2 hrs or so to move everything. Will definitely recommend their service.

I had an appointment scheduled with the team at 9am and had to cancel at the very last minute. My apartment wasn’t ready. Well low and be holder they finished late last night. I emailed all around movers and asked if they could get me in at the last minute. Johnnie worked his magic and my move was scheduled at 1030. This is my 2^nd time using these guys and each time they have been on time and very easy to work with. I will surely use them again and tell all my family and friends.. Thanks Johnnie, Jr and Aaron

These men are the best!!! Did everything they said, very prompt, very careful with our things & mindful of the walls. No problems. Highly recommend!

On my original posting, I called this «A bait and switch company. «I finally realized I may have jumped to an erroneous conclusion, as this might just have been a case of Johnnie and Lisa not communicating vs. deliberate charge changes, so I apologize to the company for that statement and retract it. I did email them to discuss this issue (phone rarely is answered) before contesting the charge with the charge card company and had no response from All Around.
When I knew I was moving, my first action was getting quotes, a $ 70/​hr/​2men quote from Johnnie. Based on the reviews on Unilocal at that time, several of them good, I called back to book them. Lisa said, nope $ 80. I called Johnnie and verified by his return email that it was $ 70/​2men per hour. I booked and confirmed the $ 70. OK, I think all is good.
Come moving day, movers arrived, performed well, on time, no complaints. It’s a Sunday at noon. I am ready for the move and have to sign the paperwork to initiate the move. I discover the billing has changed from $ 70 an hr, in the email quote, to $ 70 FOR THE FIRST TWO HOURS and $ 80 after that – I have a 7 hr. move
The mover tried to call Johnnie on that Sunday 7/​23/​14 – their add says they are open on Sunday, – both before and after the move – and no answer. I had no choice but to agree to the charges or spend a week or more trying to find any company to move me bc most of the places I had called were booked three weeks out.
Whether it was deliberate or simply a case of miscommunication, or to me, no communication, I’d «get it in writing.»

I loved Lisa and the two men that did my move.
Johnny the forman or co-​owner? He was a nightmare!!!
He raised the price to double. I told him I did not agree with this and he lowered it after I phoned Lisa.
The movers were to pack and that was a very big mistake. They broke things and did not tell me. They spilled water from the frig and did not tell me.
I hired them to pack and move me and Johnny would say things like? you want us to move that too? I thought professionals would pack my daughter’s big framed phot0, He said you should do that! The workers complined about being thirsty so I went to get drinks for them. why didn’t Johnny provide this. they worked very hard. Johnny was on his phone.
My dryer was broken when I got it and the high cost for moving me to a strorage unit very close by was way too high. Attitude is everything and johnny’s attitude sucked the big one! Liked Lisa and the boys but he was just awful.
antz moving was the other side. They were so wonderful in every way. Mistake using these all around movers. Sorry Lisa, you are very nice but loose that guy.

I had scheduled these movers almost a month in advance of my move. I was moving on a Sunday. The day before, I received multiple calls in the morning confirming my move. Great! Later that evening, I get a call saying that they had an unexpectedly large move and asked if I could change my move to Monday. I had to move Sunday, so they said they would be there around 6pm. Almost 5 hours after my originally scheduled time. I thought okay, these things happen. However, NO ONE CAME ON SUNDAY! I called many times and left voicemails. By the time 8pm rolled around I knew I was effed. I quickly scrambled and called a few places. Luckily, another company was able to schedule me for 7am Monday morning. But seriously?! After I was moved, I called Johnnie and he is apologetic. He says that he will try to make it right by refunding my moving expenses with the other company — it was very pricey due to my last minute booking. I needed to write a letter explaining the situation so that they could keep it for their records. Okay, reasonable. I never received my refund! Lisa, the owner, was in no way helpful or sympathetic. In fact, she provided a sob story about how Johhnie was running her business into the ground. As a business owner, if you recognize that your employee is acting maliciously, you need to make it right with your clients. She refused and said that it was not her responsibility since I was moved already. Yes, I moved with another company for a much higher price because YOU NEVER SHOWED UP! The owner of the business is not accountable for her employees’ or company’s actions and does not care about providing any type of customer service. I hope that they turn in around, but in the meantime — DO NOT RISK IT!!!

I would give them zero stars if I had the chance. I had spoken with Lisa, the owner of the company and told her a detailed list of everything that had to be moved. I warned her about the fact that I had several very large furniture pieces. I told her I lived on the third floor and I was moving to the 2^nd floor. During this conversation I had made sure that all of my bases would be covered to ensure there would be no surprises. She had told me it would be highly unlikely for the move to go over 2 hours. 8.25 hours later WE are finally done. I say we because I had to help them because they weren’t moving fast enough. The movers are not efficient and when I called to handle this issue I was told that I was discounted enough because they deducted 1.25 hours from my time. The movers also left the glass top to my dining room table at my Old apartment. I believe that if you are given a quote for time and money, it needs to be somewhere relatively close. So if you like to help your movers and make it an all day thing and spend quadruple the time and more than triple the cost quoted, go for it. If not, you are better off paying your friends with pizza and beer; it will take less time and cost you a hell of a lot less.

Difficult to «star» For the moves/​packers, 5.
For the company because of billing, a 1 so far. I called to ask prices. Johnnie quoted $ 75/​hr. in writing. I called around to get other quotes and this was cheapest, and easiest, so I called and talked to his female partner to book it. She quoted $ 85. When I said that wasn’t what I had been quoted before, she checked and they said $ 75. I specifically asked if there were other charges – gas, mileage, truck, etc. and was told no.
I was again told the entire charge was $ 75/​hr. When the movers arrived, the paperwork guy said the charge was $ 75 for the first two hours, and $ 85 for each hour after that. I protested but, hey, I’m packed, they are here, it’s Sunday, it’s a bait and switch, but I had to say yes or wait days to get another mover. Move was booked for 11, they called at 10:50 to say they had to get gas, and arrived at 11:30.
I had purchased a groupon for $ 200 off for $ 155 before the move. Moving guys worked their fannies off for the 7 hrs X $ 75, so bill should have been $ 525 total, less groupon of $ 200 = $ 325 remaining. This was all in writing. Never was there anything about «for the first two hours but then» Instead they charged a balance of $ 425. I called company, had to leave a msg. Mover called and received no response. I then paid by charge card.
I sent an email 2 days later disputing the charge when I got the computer up as I still had not had my phone call returned. It is now 4 days after that and I still have had no reply. I have put in a charge card dispute.
Too bad, because the booking was easy, the responses prior to the move were prompt, and I was even told about the groupon that I didn’t know about until they told me. Moving went smoothly, guys were polite, fast, and cooperative. Couldn’t have asked for more. Except a correct billing. So it’s a one star for bait and switch and no response to phone call/​emails; and a 5 for everything else.

they moved us end of June. I made a list of all the items I have and the owner Johnnie also came for an actual walk through. Their quote was the lowest out of all the moving companies (not as low as craigslist but they are bonded and insured)
they also provide free boxes, which is a HUGE plus. (was a day late delivering and 1 week late in picking up, but oh well)
Moving day went OK, they showed up two hours late, but took there time to get things moved instead of rushing and breaking stuff left and right. Overall nice and professional mover crew.
My word of advice is always have them do the walk through and check the list they made. That will avoid any disputes on the day of the move.

I am LIVID I purchased a Groupon with All Around Moving Company. I purchased the groupon over 1 month ago and very quickly tried to make an appointment with them. I had to call NUMEROUS times and left multiple voicemails to even get a phone call back. The appointment was finally made after many calls.
Four days before the appointment I called the company to make sure everything was confirmed for 9am the following Saturday. The same man I’d always spoken to over the phone said yes, I was confirmed for 9am.
Saturday:
9am — no show, no call
9:17am — I call and the same man on the phone says he will call me back in 30 minutes
10am — I call and the same man says they are running late and it might be a couple of hours but he didn’t know. He then told me that groupon customers are a lower priority and there’s a 4 hour window for them to arrive…
A four hour window was NEVER explained to me. Not when I booked the appointment and not when I confirmed the appointment and nowhere online does it include this information either!!!
I’ve used many moving companies over the years and this was THE WORST experience I’ve ever had.

When this company showed up for my move (2 hours late), they complained about everything and told me they needed to charge me in excess of $ 1000 for a 1 bedroom apartment to be moved down the street (I had already received a quote from them and had let them know the stipulations of the move and all of the items I had). There was no need to complain — both apartments have no long walks, loading docks connected to freight elevators (no stairs), high powered A/​C. My stuff was very conveniently packed and I had given them a count of all my items in advance. According to All Around, «double handling» (aka using a loading dock as is common in all highrise communities) requires significant excess work. What? He even complained about where he had to park — which was right next to the building/​loading dock/​elevator directly up to my unit. I can’t express how comfortable this move would have been for them — there is literally no better situation for movers! No stairs or long walks! A/​C the whole time… I mean… come on!
All Around was unwilling to negotiate or to put in any effort to make the situation (I’m still confused about what the situation was) work. This would have been a very easy job for them. I’ve never written a negative review, but Johnny had a bad attitude — I believe it was more stubbornness than anything — and left me high and dry on my moving day — after arriving 2 hours late.
I personally believe that All-​Around was taking advantage of the situation once they noticed I lived in a luxury high rise community. I can’t think of another reason why they wouldn’t do a move that is done everyday in this complex.
Fortunately, I was able to hire Antz moving to take the job the SAME day. I am so thankful it worked out and that I didn’t have to do business with All Around.
