I and my friends have been coming to Sammy’s for few years and have always liked the food and service. The beer has always been price fairly, BUT we got a shocker last Thursday. Asked for a pitcher of good beer and decided to get Linecoogle Octoberfest. It was great. When we got the bill we got a shock of our life time. $ 14 for Linecoogle. Asked the waitress why such a high price, we were told it was imported? From where? She replied, Wisconsin. So now Wisconsin is considered a foreign country with its beer threaded as import. It is crap of bull. Just few months ago we got a pitcher of Linecoogle Summer Shanty for much less than this. What gives? I guess from now on it will be the competing pub just down the corner that has food as good as theirs but better prices on beer.

Unfortunately Sammy’s is not the same. It used to be warm and welcoming. Not anymore

Good breakfast food for a bar. Unless your a townie stay away on Friday and Saturday nights. Good attentive service.

Think of the best Bloody Mary you’ve ever tasted. Salt and peppered rim… Perfectly blended mix of vodka, tomato juice, tabasco and Worcestershire topped with meat cheese and olives. That kick of spice and liquor to really start your brunch time activities… This bloody was the exact opposite of that… Couldn’t taste or notice any liquor, the mix was separating in the glass. No rimmed glass. No cheese or meat(extra olives though, if that tickles your fancy). Mrs. Bloody Mary herself is rolling over in her grave at this drink. Thankfully the service was good which salvages this review to 2 stars. Can’t blame the waitresses for serving average frozen bar food.

Great homemade chili & soups. Great hand-made burgers. Typical bar fare. Avoid anything with the fried chicken(chicken breast sandwich, salad, etc.) as the chicken is not truly«chicken breast» but reconstituted frozen deep-fried awful. Similar to McDonalds chicken nuggets. I wonder why serving everything cook-to-order they would serve«chicken» in this form?

Great service, really really good food! Big menu, but everything on it is done really well — like a long list of strengths! I recommend the biscuits and gravy, and the Mexican Omelette — great after a long night — and don’t forget to order a Bloody Mary! We’ve been there for breakfast and for lunch many, many times(each), and have not only NEVER been disappointed with our experience, but have ALWAYS had a GREAT meal and GREAT service!

I’ve had nothing but great experiences at Sammy’s. The bloody Mary’s are the best in town. Great service and nice people.

Went for breakfast, awful, eggs not fully cooked, sent back came back still not cooked, but as an added feature, cold as well. What else can you expect from Huntley.

Hard to believe I would find myself in this little burg twice in a lifetime, let alone twice in a month. But here I am, it’s Father’s Day, I deserve a nice breakfast out in the traditional Father’s Day tradition! Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar is open for all meal services, and offers pretty standard«diner» fare, along with daily and nightly specials. There is a set lunch special menu, and the nightly specials are consistent from week to week, with the usual(for the area) fish fry on Friday’s. Sammy’s doesn’t wait for the dinner hour for their fish fry, however, they start serving it up for the lunch crowed. I went with Sammy’s variation of «Country Steak» and eggs, which in this case, did not include batter, fried beef, but rather a chopped steak patty with country gravy, two eggs, hash browns, and toast. I went with marble rye on the latter. The beef patty is pretty ample, perhaps a half-pound pre-cooked weight, a food service type burger(meaning not hand-formed from fresh ground beef), and the gravy was good. I was pretty happy with the service and food, and like so many small town places in the Upper Midwest, prices make the meals a really good value.

Pre-packaged appetizers were frozen in the middle served with packaged ranch. Our burgesr were flavorless & the buns fell apart before the first bite. The waitress openly admitted she was closing us out so she could visit with her bar friends. We were targets of uninvited, non-customer solicitors looking for donations toward male breast cancer awareness. Bottled beer was decently priced.

This is why I love Unilocal! My husband and I found ourselves in Huntley at dinnertime(long story). So, as usual, we turned to Unilocal to help us find a place to eat. After reading all the reviews for the area, Sammy’s was the obvious choice. As others have pointed out, from the outside, it just looks like a bar. Had it not been for Unilocal,I’m sure we would have passed it by. And lost out on a real find! I had a moment’s hesitation when I opened the door and appeared at first to be hit by rather loud music. It caught me off guard as Unilocal had noted the noise level as «quiet». But before I had too much time to think about it, we were being greeted by the bartender and told to sit anywhere we’d like. By the time we’d chosen a booth, she was there with menus asking us what we’d like to drink. I’d already ceased to notice the music! I was aware of it from time to time during our meal, but not in a negative way. In fact, I thought they played a rather nice selection! One of the other reviews mentioned that, despite being a bar, Sammy’s is a very family friendly place. And we certainly got that impression as there was a table with four young children when we came in. All in all, it was a very comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Our drinks were brought by a very friendly waitress who served us through the rest of our meal. I’d ordered merlot, which I found very reasonable at $ 4 a glass. There were several things on the menu that caught my eye, but I decided to go with the Sammy Wrap. It was gyro meat, feta cheese, onion, tomato and their homemade tzatziki sauce on a whole wheat wrap, served with a choice of chips, fries or soup. I went with the soup which, tonight, was vegetable. My husband opted for the $ 4 special, which was a patty melt with a choice of fries(he chose waffle), and added a salad. We were both very happy with our choices. And even happier with our under $ 23 bill! Would I drive all the way to Huntley just to eat at Sammy’s? Probably not. But you can be sure that, should I find myself in that area again, I’ll be paying them another visit! The good food aside, I love a place that makes you feel like they really appreciate your business and Sammy’s certainly did that!

From the outside this place looks like a bar. Actually inside too! What I like though is when you go in the customers are not bar people but everyday families and kids. The breakfasts here are fantastic! I finally tried a dinner last night and it was very good. The Philly Burger and waffle fries were on special for $ 4. And the 22 oz draft beer was $ 3. Service is fast and very friendly. Each time I have been here I always wanted to come back. Great local place that I am glad is so close to home.

I love this place! If you havent tried it, you must. From the outside, it doesnt look like much, but the people are great, the owner is a great guy and the food is fabulous! The burgers are the juiciest I’ve had in a long time. The meat is never frozen, I think that’s the secret! The soup is always hot and homemade. I love the Chicken Oliolio and the Sammy Wrap. The Chicken Oliolio is Grilled Chicken with green peppers, onion and black olives all tossed over pasta in olive oil. It is sooooo good and there is enough to bring home and take for lunch the next day! The Sammy Wrap is also fab! This is a grilled chicken breast, chopped up and put into a whole wheat wrap with gryo sauce, tomatoes, and onion. They even have great breakfast! Like I said, you gotta check this place out! There is a full bar on one side and a full restaurant on the other. It is very kid friendly. i great place to bring the family. There’s always something going on there too. Its a fun place with great food and not at all overpriced like those places on Randall Road!
