Established in 2005.

Passionate and self professed sweet-​treat addict and Executive Pastry Chef Christy Platt started Simply Layered in Huntington Beach as a way to create edible works of art, delicious desserts and award winning custom cakes made from the finest, most natural ingredients available.

Everything is made to order with an emphasis on taste, not toxins, so you can indulge guilt-​free, or with less guilt anyhow – this is still Southern California!

True to her upbringing on the beach, Simply Layered keeps things mellow and laid-​back in the kitchen but is sincerely dedicated when it comes to delivering delectable desserts and sweet service to their many clients.

Although Simply Layered appears to have delicious desserts and pastries, unfortunately I never got around to actually being able to try them. I was in communication with Christy, the manager, because I had heard great things about her and her work. I was eager to hire her to bake desserts for my bridal shower. However, after weeks of on and off communication with Christy, I became very unhappy working with her because she never gave me a straight answer about pricing and took days to respond. After wasting over a month communicating with her about how she could bake for my shower, she backed out on me completely. From this experience, I can say that I feel that Christy was truly unprofessional and unreliable. I would not recommend this place to anyone else seeking to host a bridal shower and/​or event because Christy did not follow through.

We had our anniversary cake made here from our catering company; options were plentiful and my wife and I had a tough time deciding. We went with a red velvet cake with fresh cream and fruit layer. IT WAS AMAZING!!! We finished every last bite of it during our anniversary, stretched out to a week. Will stop by at the shop to try other delectable goods next time we’re in Huntington Beach.

Unfortunately this place is not closed, but it should be. Very unfriendly and unhelpful. Very few places to sit. No bathroom. We have a two year old and just wanted to wash his hands since he was playing outside. No chance. They tell you to go to the hotel across the street. The food is not bad, but they should shut down and let a friendlier establishment move into this valuable piece of real estate.

A lemon bar and a vegan gluten free chocolate almond bar. Both were quite good!
Café espresso — luckily nice young Josh was kind enough to get us a dollop of fresh whip to make the deep, dark, well brewed café con panna a perfect bitter cream to have with the lemon bar :). All 3 items were excellent… Definitely glad they are doing their thing here at the ol’ Baguetier.
