Dr. Mungo is amazing. His office is fun, staff is friend and super patient. I highly recommend them.

My daughters have been seeing Dr. Mungo for the past 15 years. My oldest daughter is now 19 so she no longer sees him but when she was little he was the only dentist (and we tried A LOT) who was able to work on her and get her teeth taken care of. My other daughter is now 16 and she has special needs and she has always been scared of having her teeth worked on. In the past, Dr. Mungo did her cleanings himself while she sat on my lap! He is so calm and gentle and really cares about my family. He has come in on the weekends to care for my kids in an emergency and has squeezed us in when my daughter broke her tooth. Celena in the front office has been with him a long time and is very helpful as are all the girls and hygienists. Thank you everyone for the wonderful care over the years.

This is an outstanding pediatric facility. We recently had our first visit with them and feel so fortunate to have found this place. They were extremely kind in helping us with an emergency situation. Everyone we worked with were great. I would highly recommend this business for anyone with kids. I wish I could go there myself! The office is set up for kids. It’s fun and the kids can be kids. Exceptional company!

Dr Mungo has been our dentist for 8 years. He is the best dentist a child could want, he is patient, caring and friendly. We started seeing him when my son was less than a year old due to some special circumstances, Dr Mungo knew how to put our worries at ease and handled my sons dental surgeries at CHOC like the pro he is. Love that safety was most primary, he’s non aggressive on his treatments and most of all listens to the concerns of the parents.
Every time we visit Dr. Mungo is like taking a trip to grandpas house. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Mungo was so patient and kind to our 3 year old little girl. She normally cries or throws up but with Dr. Mungo she was calm as a cucumber. He puts his patients at ease and is very detailed and informative. We feel very blessed to have found such an amazing doctor who is so good with children with special needs!

We absolutely love Dr. Mungo! He is so great with kids and they love him. The front office lady that does the billing, however, is incredibly rude.

My special needs daughter saw Dr Mungo for 10 years and he was always so patient with her. He was always kind and explained everything so well to me also. Overall very nice Dr and everything was always done under anesthesia for her and he always answered all my questions and I was always happy with his care. Would definitely recommend Dr Mungo!

My sister has been taking her kids there for over a year.
Unfortunately, she has had a several very bad experiences.
I will start with the good to be fair.
Dr. Dorothy has been great with her 4 year old. She is for sure good with kids!
Dr. Richard is GREAT with her 3 year old. He has special needs and the doctor really caters to him!
The BAD —
1 — Dr. Dorothy prescribed her daughter antibiotics. Her daughter is allergic to Penicillin. It is in ALL of her charts and records. However, when my sister went to pick up the prescription the pharmacist saw there was Penicillin in the prescription and called the dentist to see why they had prescribed it! Thankfully the pharmacist caught the dentist’s mistake!
2 — Dr. Dorothy had to do another prescription for the daughter a few months later. She did it electronically and sent it to the pharmacy. When my sister went to pick it up, once again the pharmacist found a problem with it. This time, the dentist prescribed a dosage FOUR TIMES stronger then the recommendation for a child of that weight and age!!! The pharmacist called the dentist several times over the weekend to get it fixed and it took the dentist 3 days to respond and fix their mistake.
3 — My sister called the dentist to talk about this second prescription mess up and spoke with the Office Manager. The same office manager who has been very rude to her on several occasions. The office manager tried to blame the pharmacist for the mistake, stating they simply could not read the dentist’s handwriting. Which of course, was a blatant lie, since the prescription was done electronically. She has actually had several negative encounters with this Office Manager and can’t believe this Dentist Practice would keep such a rude and un-​helpful person employed.
4 — My sister has had SEVERAL mistakes on her billings. Not just one or two, but SEVERAL bills from the dentist’s office that were more than $ 100 over what they should have been. Which means she has also had to make SEVERAL calls to the office and spend a LOT of time to get those bills corrected.
In a nut shell, if you want to take your kids to a dentist with a horribly rude front office staff, have to double check all your prescriptions and all of your bills… But get dentists who are nice to your children… then this is the office for you.
*** I write this review for my sister, since she does not use Unilocal often, but she wanted her experiences to be out there to warn other parents of what is going on***

It is so sad that when we first started coming here with our two children it was great, but the last time we visited they were horrible with my special needs son and the doctor even called me a bad mother to my face. You know he was at Pretend City at Halloween and you know it was perfect for him, because he pretends to be a good dentist for children.

Dr. Mungo is ridiculously expensive. I brought my three-​year old in to have six teeth pulled and I kid you not, it cost $ 18,000. Yes, that’s $ 3,000 per extraction. Last month I had a bill of almost $ 7,000 for my two other kids, and it’s just too much. There are other dentists, like Harbor Mesa Dental Care, that do good work for much less. Don’t bother with Dr. Mungo’s, you can do better.

The staff here are really friendly. Everyone knows what they’re doing and are always offering to help. Knowledge about dental work and having people skill at a dental office is important to me. Celena has been super helpful with all my paperwork and coverage. Dentist appointment is no fun, especially for a young child. Dr. Dorothy is so great. My daughter likes being there and listens to Dr. Dorothy every step of the way. Having peace of mind being at the office and leaving after the treatment is all mother’s dream of knowing my child is well taken cared of. Thank you for everything!

Took my 1yr old daughter for her first dental visit today and I was so incredibly impressed by this office! Not only was the waiting room kid friendly and really welcoming, the lady working in the front was too. We had a quick consultation with the doctor where she answered all my questions and took the time to ask questions in return. She seemed genuine and made me feel at ease knowing my lil one was in good hands. Once we were taken to the exam area the lady that came over to look at her teeth was just as impressive! She took and printed a picture of my daughter for me to take home to remember her first trip to the dentist. She was patient and spoke in a calm kind voice. My daughter who loves to being read to, handed her a book and without thinking she stopped and read the book to her. I cant say enough about how overwhelmed with joy I was with the standard of care my daughter was given. One pleased mamma!

I’m really sad that I’m 20, you guys. It means I can’t go here anymore. This is absolutely without a doubt the best place to bring your kid to get work done on his or her teeth.
Dr. Mungo is THE BEST with children. I know because I was a patient here and I also volunteered here for two summers. He is so patient and thorough and takes the time to talk to each patient. I also love that he doesn’t ignore the children and only speak to the parents. I’ve seen him calm down children freaking out about getting their teeth cleaned or pulled. He’s never shown any sign of frustration or impatience. He and his staff are very professional. He also works with special needs children, a rarity, I think.
There are games in the waiting room, not just toys, but actual video games. The theme of the office is an underwater one. He actually reminds me of the dentist from Finding Nemo! I swear Pixar made him their model for their movie haha. I’ve never been so jealous of my younger brother for still being able to come here! Kids also get a toy from a treasure chest box at the end of their visit.
Also, if your kid needs braces, send him or her next door to Dr. Punim. She is just as amazing as Dr. Mungo is!

Great dentist! Friendly, helpful, always does a stellar job. Update: although I no longer qualify as a pediatric dental patient, they’ve somehow continued seeing me… maybe because I don’t rummage through the toy chest full of cheap plastic goodies on the way out… hmmm.
