Beach City Brewery specializes in brewing high quality craft beers that represent the local community of Huntington Beach and Orange County, California. Our beers can be enjoyed on-​site in our tasting room or found out in restaurants and bars in our distribution chain. We take pride in the quality of our beer and hold our retailers to standards to as high as we hold it in our tasting room. Always expect the best flavors and aroma when you are able to find our beers.

History

Established in 2013.

Beach City Brewery began planning in April 2012 when Glenn Closson and James Bettencourt were home brewing. Glenn and James had learned how to home brew from Matt J, having 16-​years brewing experience. Matt was there for all the questions they had and helped them move from extract to all-​grain brewing. To be successful, they knew they required someone with the experience in a production brewery, and were able to hire Matt as a consultant to answer in questions and ensure they were on the right track. Before opening, they hired on Derek Testerman, from Iron Hill brewery in Philadelphia. Brewing began on April 2, 2014 and has continued into over 12 different styles since then. We will continue to be innovative with our recipes and styles to ensure the tasting room always has something special on tap!

Business Owner

Glenn Closson put together this team to help continue the growth and love of craft beer in Orange County. Being well rehearsed in operating a business, Glenn’s love for craft beer and passion for home-​brewing hit a cap in 2012. Glenn enjoyed brewing beer 5 gallons at a time with his friends and sharing that beer with them. He wanted more people to have the same enjoyment that they all had and dreamed of expanding. After attending major craft beer events around the nation, like the Great American Beer Festival, Craft Brewer’s Conference, and SAVOR, he was ready to get this project started! Unfortunately, a passion for brewing and a love for craft beer doesn’t make you a natural at opening a brewery. Deciding experience was needed, he found and hired Derek Testerman, as head brewer, to take the reigns.
