History
Established in 1902.
Stewart & Stevenson, established as a horse and carriage shop in Houston, Texas in 1902, became a provider of diesel power for commercial and military applications after acquiring a GM diesel engine distributorship in 1938. New partnerships with original equipment manufacturers MTU, MTU Onsite Energy, Detroit, Electro-Motive Diesel, DEUTZ, Allison, Atlas Copco and Hyster provide todayÕs power product offerings of diesel and natural gas engines, transmissions, generators, air compressors, and material handling equipment. The manufacture of oil and gas equipment that began in 1963 now supports hydraulic fracturing, well stimulation, workover, intervention and drilling. Included are pumping, acidizing, coiled tubing, cementing and nitrogen units, drilling and workover rigs, power generation systems and electrical support and distribution systems. Today Stewart & Stevenson is a leading designer, manufacturer and provider of specialized equipment for the oil and gas and other industries.
