Knapp Chevrolet Service Department

Absolutely the worst service ever, i went in for one problem and drive off wit more. Took the vehicle back twice and still having issues turned out ot was then leaving sensors unplugged under my vehicle causing these problems, but never once did they want to look into it. I believe its a scam since they insisted on me buyin new sensors and replacing them. They also said i needed new belts and wanted to replace them funny thing was i had replaced them only 4 weeks before, defenetly trying to scam people. If you have to go in do not deal with Rick he thinks he knows it all and refuses to help out

I took my car in today for a GM recall. In addition, the hazard switch was out so I had already bought a new switch to install myself earlier this month. Since I was taking it in for a recall I thought I would go ahead and have them install the switch as well. The service consultant told me that it would cost $ 125 for them to diagnose the problem and I would have to pay that even if I chose not to do the work. Hmm. Diagnose a problem that I have already said and shown them is broken. I said fine since it would save me some time.
Later in the day I get a call from the service consultant stating that the total repair would cost $ 344.00 for parts & labor to replace the switch. I reminded him that I had given him the part to replace and he quickly and totally arbitrarily reduced the price to $ 250.00. Mind you I paid $ 14.00 at Pep Boys for the part. Since I would already be charged the $ 125.00 for them to look at I was trapped into them doing the work. I am totally angry at myself for not doing the job myself and completely feel cheated by Knapp who charged me so much money for a diagnoses that I had given them and for a job that is reasonably about 20 min. worth of work at the most. I will never go here again and I will never buy a car from them ever!
DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Not even worth the one star. I made an appointment for 7am for 3 recalls and to check out my car and it’s day 2, and I still don’t know what’s going on with my car. They don’t keep you updated and are the worst at answering the phone! Picked this location because close to loop and Google reviews weren’t too bad but I wish I would have read Unilocal reviews bc I would have never taken my car here! Terrible customer service.

The only positive I have to remark on is their location… very convenient to have a location in the loop so close to downtown but that’s about it. I have brought my car here 3 separate times after recently purchasing a Chevy at another location and their service has been subpar. Not friendly, not willing to help when I had questions about my car, took their time and always under quoted how much time it would actually take to complete any service. Don’t expect friendly faces or anyone who actually wants to help.

Two completely separate service visits:
In both cases, never called to say car was ready or that they’d need an additional day (beyond what they promised) to complete repairs.
Read through proposed repairs as though it was a formality. When I tried to get rep to slow down and actually discuss, he seemed annoyed.
I gave them two different chances. I’ll be trying a different dealership next time.

In my experience, the actual SERVICE is fine — 5 stars there.
But with that said, EVERY TIME I bring my car here, it leaves with a new scratch or ding. Every. single. time. Regardless if it’s a 30 minute job or a 7 day job. Some I can buff out myself, others require professional repair. That gets expensive, and removes 2 stars from my review.

Mostly recall work was performed during my visit, but I also received an oil change/​tire rotation at a discounted promotion rate. Overall, the work was performed correctly to the best of my knowledge and I will use Rick as my service advisor again. He wasn’t at his desk when I called for updates, but I received callbacks from him for each missed call. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in regards to attention to the small details, especially because the work took longer than originally intended (appointment was scheduled 2 weeks in advance, but they were missing a recall part on the day I arrived). There should have been at the very least no loose ends to tie up. Having said this, when I got my car home I found that the oil life dashboard monitor was not reset, and I will have to make a second visit to correct a new dashboard message «service tire pressure monitor,» most likely a result of the tire rotation. As far as aesthetics, there is no designated waiting area for service, so it makes the waiting experience uncomfortable. The shuttle service that took me to work in downtown was convenient and reliable.

Awful service department. I received a manufacturer recall notice for my key. The letter promised the fix would take less than 30 min. I scheduled an appointment for 7am. They ended up taking 10 hours. I called to check and they hung up on me. I took a taxi to pick it up at 4pm. They told me they couldn’t help me if I didn’t remember the name of the service rep. When I located the rep (by mere luck), he said they haven’t even looked at it. Why did I schedule an appointment for 7am? He said he couldn’t find my appointment sheet. Wow…

Usually if I have one bad experience, I’ll brush it off and discount it as a bad day, everyone has those. When I return three times and each time, get consistently bad service, there’s a problem. It started on my first visit, for a simple oil change. I got the car back and they tried to charge me. I told them it was covered under the service agreement (This was the 7,000 mile by the way). After a bit of fussing, they were able to «look it up» and it was fine. My DEF fluid was also low and I had asked to fill it up. My understanding was that it was covered. Apparently not, I ended up having to pay a random amount for the fluid because no one knew what it actually cost the dealership. At this point I just wanted to get out of there so I paid the invoice and left.
Fast forward to last week. My check engine light comes on, I go in thinking it would be an easy check by a tech with a computer to tell me whats wrong I was told I had to schedule and appointment and return. Not a big deal I though. I’ll book a time slot and come back. Immediately after returning home I made an appointment for 1pm today, outlining in my request specific details about the check engine light (from onstar). It was a Redundant tank temp sensor. I figured by relaying this info, if there wasn’t on in stock, they could have a chance to order one.
This brings us to today, I show up for my 1pm appointment to be greeted very rudely like I should not have been there. I say I have an appointment at 1 to have a check engine light looked at, it was confirmed via email a few days back. He says they have no one that can check an engine light. I pull up the email confirmation. «Oh, sorry, that advisor is on vacation». Me, ‘So you don’t have a single tech that can check a check engine light”, Sorry we don’t. Thinking to myself «Seriously!?» What the F are your techs trained to do then… I maintained my cool and left. Never to return again.
To anyone that read this entire review. My advice, call and verify all details and know what you are getting into before hand. I will never be bringing my car back to this unprofessional, unorganized excuse for a service department.
One thing I will say about this place. Lesley Russel is AMAZING! I went here as my first choice to buy my new car. Lesley was the nicest sales guy I ever dealt with. Although he didn’t have my car in stock, he was very informative and helped me make an informed decision. Thanks Lesley!

The work performed (replacing 4 power door lock actuators and replacing a rear-​view mirror) was fine, but the service experience has been less than desirable. While servicing my car, I was suppose to receive a quote on body work to be done through the body shop. It’s been well over a week, and I am still waiting on this estimate… Should I take my business elsewhere… This is especially surprising because I had my car at the service center TWICE over 3 days, and asked both times for a body work estimate. Both times, I was suppose to receive the estimate but nothing came…
Also, when my car was done, I requested a ride pick up. It never came, and when I called to ask about the ride, I was told it was my fault that I gave them the wrong number and could not reach me when they arrived… This is perplexing to me how they had a wrong telephone number, considering THEY called ME to tell me my car was ready… I ultimately had to get a taxi cab and incur additional costs.

Made an appointment for an oil change, after waiting 2.5 hours, they finally started it? Why take appointments? My service contact was very nice and the actual work was fine, but I probably won’t be back. An oil change with an appointment should take an hour, not three.

Great service from Tony. They took care my 2 Chevys doing over $ 3K in service in just over 2 days. I won’t go anywhere else.

Have been a repeat car buying customer from Knapp Chevy for several years. A while ago I decided to buy all American and when I needed a new truck I purchased a 2012 Avalanche which I love. I also own a 2011 Grand Sport Corvette, the best sports car made in America. Also purchased at Knapp.
Sad to say that I have tried to take both of my vehicles to Knapp service on multiple times. Each time there was something that did not get delivered as promised, and I always took longer for service than what they quoted.
Today was the last straw. I took the Truck into the service department at 8:30 Am. for a oil change. The service person Amy asked if I was going to wait on the truck or could I come back in a couple of hours. I said no, I would come back, but would need my truck later in the day. She said OK, How about 11:00 AM. I will call you when it is ready.
After not receiving a call at 11:30. I called them. After being put on hold for what seems like a long time, I was told that my service rep was not available. So I called back and just asked for anyone in service, surly they could tell me if my truck was ready. Another person got on the line and said, yes your truck is being worked on right now… should be done in less than an hour. OK, not what I expected but as long as I could get it back in an hour that would be cool. Went for a late lunch, by this time it was about 2:00PM. Had my wife drive me back over to Knapp expecting that by know I could get my truck, which had been there over 5 hours, for an oil change! To my surprise, when I went in to check on things, I was told that they had not even started on my truck, and that If I wanted to wait, it would be about an hour.
I said no that’s OK, I’ll just take my truck to another establishment that normally just takes about 20 to 30 minuets.
Too bad for the sales guys at Knapp. Your service department is giving you a bad name.

Knapp diagnosed an ABS warning light on my Trailblazer as needing an EBCM motor replacement. So I went and did that elsewhere, then brought it back to them for programming (apparently only a dealer can do this). They charged me $ 125 for this service and then told me the system wasn’t working as I fixed the wrong part and should have replaced the valve instead. Told them I did exactly what they diagnosed. So I’m out $ 800 for al the work and ABS still not working.
This is my last experiment with Knapp’s service. Overall, they’re unreliable and stupid.
