Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental

I only attended a workshop at this hotel so I cannot rate rooms or staff. I would give the aesthetics of this hotel 3 stars. It has the amenities of a 4 star hotel, however the quality is lacking. The Drifters Bistro in this hotel is a 1 star, which in my opinion brings down overall score of hotel. I most likely would not stay here should I find myself needing a room by the airport.

This is my home for the next month or so while I am in training for work. So I signed up for the Green plan which allows you to not have your sheets and towels washed daily, in exchange for a $ 5 coupon or 500 SPG points for each day you hang the green sign on your door. The coupons can be added up to pay for your entire meal at the hotel restaurant, or I will end up with about 14,000 points (2 night stay at this hotel) by the time I am done in November. Win for me and win for the environment.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to a messed up checkin reservation, and has very timely airport transportation. The lobby has delicious melon or cucumber water that’s more like juice than just infused water.
The rooms do have very thin walls for I could hear my neighbor’s loud TV as well as umm… How should I say… Recreational sounds. :cough cough:

There is a fridge in every room. I requested a microwave and they brought one for me to use for the entire month. Very nice.
The Internet is good, but you do have to re-​enter the password every 24 hrs. It’s kinda annoying, but it is free so I won’t complain.
Food choices near by across the street are: Jack-​in-​the-​Box, Subway, Alwadi Mediterranean, Ultimate Taco, Taco Bell, or Churches Chicken inside the gas station.

Very okay. The gym is nice. The rooms are clean. Absolutely nothing near by, especially decent restaurants.

Horrible customer service. The manager Kingsley is probably the most unhelpful, arrogant of them all. Better hotels near the airport… Save your time and effort. Boo Sheraton!

Only stayed for one night, but the service was good. Only issue that I had was my room never cooled down to the level that I like, and in the club, they ran out of eggs and did not replace them at 9:15am on a Sunday. They also did not have any bacon or sausage that every Sheraton club has across the country.

The venue itself is relatively nice. The check-​in area has the glamour and appeal of other comparable Sheratons. The rooms, however, were a lot smaller than the ones I’ve stayed in before.
My bf and I stayed in a king size bedroom on the top floor. The bed was nice and comfy and the room itself was pretty clean. The bathroom, however, was so stinking small. It was hard to maneuver around in there and it was really tight for just two people to stand in.
We did get access to the club lounge so that was nice. Grabbed a bite before we left in the morning. They have a decent set up and a really nice coffee machine.
Biggest perk of this location is that it’s really close to the IAH airport. May or may not recommend staying here.

Thanks for the wonderful service. Sometimes when traveling things don’t always go as planned. We get angry and take it out on others. Thank you to the patient staff and awesome management. We called and booked two king size suites next to each other with adjoining door. They said they could get us the suites but not with adjoining door. we were okay with that. We got there and got our keycards and asked if the rooms were close, she literally held her fingers about 2″ apart and said yes. The rooms were LITERALLY on the opposite sides of the floor, as far as you could get apart from each other. We went back down and asked about the room next to one of the king suites. they said it was available, but it wasn’t a suite, but it did have an adjoining door. we were good with that (even though they said there was no price difference between a one king and a king suite, yeah right),. okay, that worked out okay.
THEN, in the king room the wireless wouldn’t work and we tried calling the desk and the phone would only work a minute before there was such loud static you couldn’t talk any longer. they were able to tell us WE needed to call tech support to get the wireless up and running. Well they sent a very pleasant employee out to fix the phone which he did within a few hours.
We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was GREAT across the board (6 of us total) but the service was very slow. They had plenty of employees in the restaurant, but it took about half hour to get water and our orders taken. We were tired and not in a hurry so it was no big deal, but still…
When we checked out both rooms had toll charges to the same phone # (we only used the phone to call the front desk). Hmmmm
So, the rooms were nice, clean and the food really good and despite the fact that we were directly under the takeoff path of airplanes, you couldn’t really hear much in the rooms (Outside it was like being at the airport).
So, it’s not a bad stay, just some employee issues mainly

here for business — wouldn’t set foot in here ever again.
Waited over an hour for their airport shuttle, while watching other local hotel shuttles making 2 or 3 trips in the same amount of time.
Heard doors slamming shut all night.
During morning meeting, went back up to my room and maid gave me attitude about wanting to return to use my room — hadn’t checked out yet. Her supervisor walked by and asked her to step out, but that’s just rude.
Lots of little things that add up to this place being a dump.

This is a very nice hotel. I presented there and the facility was great and staff was very helpful. I would definitely return to do a seminar.
The only reason not five stars is that the floors and the rooms were very very humid. The bed felt wet, which was gross. If you stay here, ask to check the room first and if humid perhaps find somewhere else. It was hard to sleep.

We got here around 11pm after travel plans were interrupted. We were exhausted, hungry, and cranky! We had called from the airport and they had a room and sent a shuttle, which got there within 3 minutes of the call. When we walked in, we were happily greeted by the sweetest man, Kingsly? And he got us a room, sent housekeeping up to make up the pull out bed, gave us a couple of tooth brushes and we were laughing and smiling by the end of the conversation. He very much took care of us. Our room was clean, smelled great, beds were so comfortable, and the food from the restaurant (we order buffalo wings and a burger) were SO good :) Thank you for the experience and for the great stay!

Shuttle driver raised his voice at me when I simply asked if I was on the right shuttle; I was sitting in my seat. I am love Starwood, but not this experience on bus #5.

Not being the biggest traveler, I like to stay at nice places when I do. This place can is an «eh» for just ok. Beds are pretty comfortable but that’s about all. The showers were ‘dripping water’- no water pressure what so ever. The food is mediocre and the staff looks like a bunch of slobs. Shirts untucked and uniforms look like they have never been laundered. The pool is so nasty I wouldn’t even dip my feet in. Overall, I give this place 2 stars because the reason why I can was for a seminar, in which the meeting room is halfway decent.

I would give zero stars if possible… Stayed in the hotel for a week — breakfast, lunch and dinner on site. My credit card swipe did not work and they had to key enter the card number… On my last day of stay I was refused breakfast because «they are not allowed to key enter my credit card». I spoke with the 2 managers on site — Ken and Albert and they did nothing but explained that this measure is for my own security. Keep in mind that this is my card with my ID etc… I could not believe it… Not the type of service of a hotel where you spend good amount for stay and food. I will not stay here again nor recommend it to anyone.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. I was in town for a few nights to take my boards and found a great deal so I went for it. I was alarmed by some of the negative reviews but a deal’s a deal!
Checkin was speedy and parking was free — as was WiFi. I was on the club level which was nice — free breakfast and late afternoon hors d’oeuvres with a cash bar in the afternoon. My room was spacious, updated, and very clean. Brand new flat screen, couch, desk, etc. Also, I think this is one of the nicest hotel gyms I’ve ever seen — multiple treadmills and ellipticals, and well as weight machines and nice new free weights. Since I was here for a few days, I went down to the bar to eat a couple times which was nice and always surprisingly packed. Food and service were great… and they had plenty big screens for SNF and MNF. Room service was on par as well.
The location was perfect for what I was in town for, but this isn’t the area to be in if you’re traveling to Houston for fun — typical bleak airport area. All in all, it was a great experience and I’d recommend this property to anyone with layovers or business in the area.

Very nice, spacious lobby atrium with a free business center, which is nice. Great looking rooms and I loved the artwork/​frames on the wall. Nice granite counter tops in the bathroom. Desk featured a leather chair and the furniture was nice. The beds were quite comfortable and I had a great night’s rest.
I travel all over the country and this place is on par or slightly above.

So many good things. The front is is very friendly and personable. I’ve stayed here a couple of times, and it looks really good since their renovation. I definitely like it. The easy 24 hr shuttle availability is very convenient. I don’t know of any other hotel around the area that has one. The renovation really did a number for the food though. Drifter’s bistro had a good menu. You have to try the filet. It’s absolutely delicious. Of course, always leave room for dessert. Price is about right for hotel prices. If you are use to traveling, it’s a good deal. Staying in and dining is better than trying to walk across the busy street to a couple of overly crowded mediocre food joints.

This place is approaching «dump» status. As hard as I try, I cannot possibly understand how the rates are so high.
On the bright side, the staff is friendly and helpful. There’s ample parking and it’s a short drive from IAH terminals. That’s about where it ends.
I used SPG Suite Night Awards and was upgraded to a Studio Suite. Spacious, yes, but also worn down. Only a few lamps around (and one tiny window) means it was very dimly lit. Not enough light to do much but sit around. The bathroom was tiny (for such a huge room!)…so much so that you had to step back past the toilet to close/​open the door. Come on, y’all!
The lobby is stale, poorly lit, and while it might be clean, it feels very dirty.
The purported «coffee shop» in the lobby consists of nothing more than one of those fancy auto-​coffee machines where you press a button to get a latte, cappuccino, etc.
Overall, this property seems a decade or more overdue for a renovation. The rates, like I said earlier, are ridiculously high for what you get. Next time, I’ll stay across the street at SpringHill Suites.

Houston we have a problem. I’m not a fan of this hotel.
Why? You have to pay for WI-​FI.
Sure they have complimentary computer usage in the lobby, but you can only access the internet at a glacial pace.
Remember the 56k modem? It’s slower than that. It’s like 200 baud or 1 bit per second.
Staff is indifferent and couldn’t care less that I was having issues with their slow connection.
There’s nothing around the hotel, but a Jack in the Box, Taco Bell and a gas station.
