Midtown Doggy Daycare & Aquatic Spa

My dog Mary Jane loves Midtown Doggy Daycare & Aquatic! Farook and his staff are so friendly and kind. I recently moved to Kingwood and I am so sad because I miss Midtown Doggy Daycare. MJ was so happy there and never got any bad reports. They truly look after your dog just like it was their own.

I’m adding comments about ticks as well. My beloved labrador came home covered in ticks after a few visits. It was horrific, they were all over the house, upstairs and downstairs. Had to get the dog bathed in special dip and put him on tick medicine. Thousands of dollars later, I finally got it under control. They are very nice but it’s not worth the drama of all the ticks!

Do not take your pet here from grooming!!! I picked up my dog– no bows, no bandana, still wet, stinky and unbrushed. They said «she didn’t like the dryer» therefor didn’t dry her. What dog does? She obviously was not brushed and left hair EVERYWHERE. She looked worse than when I brought her in. Poor baby. I immediately got my money back which was the only redeeming factor of this place, because it def. wasn’t worth a cent of my hard earned money.

My husband and I are a one car family in a city built for cars. We usually don’t need to use daycare, but I had a friend in desperate need of help until into the evening, so I figured I could find a place to put my baby until my husband could pick him after his flight back into Houston. He arrived FOUR MINUTES AFTER CLOSING and NOBODY WAS THERE!!! I was clear on the form and over the phone that we would be picking him up that evening. I didn’t get a call or any warning that if we were even a minute late that Sebastian would be stuck there all night. Now my husband and I are distraught because Sebastian doesn’t have his food, and we had no intention of leaving him there over night.
Update: I’m giving them one star higher because they apologized and didn’t charge us extra for the boarding. However, they claimed that I hadn’t given them a phone number to call when that was not at all the case. Not only did I put my phone number on the forms (which they claimed not to have even though I emailed them early and called to verify that they had received them), but I told them my number when I dropped him off!

Wonderful! I have been boarding my babies there for months and I’ve never been disappointed. They always come home happy and tired from play time. The staff is so sweet and you can tell they love dogs. Recently I had to bring my dog for daycare because I was having pest control come by to treat my house. The Company never showed during my appointment window. I was so frustrated. The owner was so sweet, they didn’t even charge me for the daycare. They completely turned my day around. I recommend Midtown Doggy Daycare to all my friends and will continue to use them as long as I live in Houston.

I’ve boarded my pug here multiple times based on friends’ raving reviews. The experience has been lackluster at best.
The first time probably over a year ago my pet came home with roughly 12 ticks. I was disgusted. I called and complained and they offered for me to bring her back in for a bath and grooming. When I picked her up I asked the staff member if they saw the ticks (the ones I was unable to remove) as well as the little red marks from the others. He told me no which I found odd bc they were pretty easy to see. I asked if he had personally look to which he said no. «Was it written down somewhere that you didn’t see anything?» «No.» It was pretty obvious he just made up the fact that they didn’t see anything.
Because of my friends’ reviews and that the staff did handle the situation fairly well, I continued taking her there. Maybe she was just placed next to a dog that was tick ridden.
I probably went back about 6 or so more times and every time she would have a tick or two. I figure they have tons of dogs not a huge deal.
One of the last times I brought her in I was dropping her off with a friend who wanted to peek in the kennel area. As he walked behind the staff taking my dog in the back he tried to just peek over her shoulder. He was abruptly stopped by someone at the desk that they are not giving tours and there was too much going on that morning to even see where they would put my pup. I thought that was extremely odd and said so. We weren’t looking for a tour. Only to see where my dog would be sleeping for the weekend.
I told myself I wasn’t going back but I hadn’t had a chance to find another place before I had to go out of town again.
This was definitely her last stay. She was there for a week and when I dropped her off, I asked them to put on a tick collar and added it to my bill. «No problem.»
I picked her up today to find that the collar I was charged for was unopened and in her bag. Of course I got home and had to get four ticks off of her. That was the last straw. I’m done.
A few other points 1) for the most part the staff is really helpful and sweet. 2) they are great with last minute reservations. 3) watch your bill. They always added a $ 5 fee for some pet care policy that I repeatedly said I didn’t want. They also added fees for giving her some pills when she was ill.

My dog is a rescue and has quite a bit of separation anxiety, this past weekend was the first time we traveled out of Houston since moving here and were anxious how she would do in a new environment. The rooms at Midtown Doggy Daycare are a great size and space for your pup; I recommend upgrading to the condo size if you can, it is not much more money and your dog will have a lot more space (they are also «themed» which adds an extra adorable factor). Every staff member I interacted with was beyond friendly and understands that to most people, your pup is your baby, and they are committed to taking great care of them. Our dog ended up gaining a tiny bit of weight during her stay (most dogs don’t even eat when they are away from home) but ours was so happy and healthy during her stay. We appreciate all the love the staff pours into this business.

I think there are small lies that are being told here daily. It is not any one specific thing. It is just little things that added up that made me feel like they were telling me what I wanted to hear as opposed to what was really occurring. I was told that the pups would get hands on care and playtime but when I’d go pick up my two small dogs, the door would be closed and all the toys were piled up behind the door, meaning that the dogs were likely trying to get attention since no one was interacting with them. And then there were a couple times there was pee on the floor in the play room that no one noticed until I came to pick up my pups. When I would call to see how they were doing I was told they were having the time of their life in the same manner every single time in a somewhat dismissive way. What really concerned me is when another person came to drop her dog off and said her dog starts shaking in the car every time she drives to drop him off. The owner made light of it and said he misses his mom too when he leaves. It’s not a terrible place. The people are overall nice really. But as I said something just didn’t feel comfortable, like I was being told one thing but another thing was really occurring.

I chose this facility due to the outstanding reviews it has received. I wanted to leave my pup at a facility that I could trust, and one where my dog could safely socialize with other dogs during the day. Before bringing my dog to daycare, I was told to bring my dog in for a temperament evaluation, in order to insure that my pup would socialize properly in the daycare environment with other dogs. I was led to believe that passing the temperament evaluation was a prerequisite for participating in the daycare program. I was very happy when Midtown informed me that my pup passed the temperament evaluation, and could now participate in the daycare program with the other dogs. After the first day of daycare I asked the attendant how my pup did, and was told that «she was shy, and kept to herself most of the day». After the second day of daycare, I was told the same. On the third day, a different attendant told me that my dog was secluded from the dogs at daycare for most of the day, and given only «5 minute intervals to socialize». The following day that I brought my pup to this facility, I was told that my pup spends the entire day secluded from the other dogs, and will remain secluded until she «builds up sufficient confidence». I was led to believe that my pup was spending her time at this facility socializing with the other dogs, in the daycare environment, when instead she was secluded from the other dogs in a separate kennel.

I’ve been bring my dog here for 2 years and couldn’t be happier. When we first adopted Roxy she was so full of energy that we didn’t know what to do. I researched day cares for weeks before deciding on Midtown and never looked back. I take her a few days a week so she can play and come home rested. She also boards here anytime we go out of town and has stayed as long as two weeks. She comes home happy and healthy every time. The staff treat her like family and she clearly loves them very much.
Midtown is a laid back, non-​pretentious place and I love that about it. They take good care of my dog and make sure she has a good time. The owner is very involved in the business and often there at pick-​up and drop-​off. The staff is also terriffic. As a plus, they also offer grooming services and are very affordable.

I just moved here from Austin and was trying to find a doggy daycare and boarding place, so this seemed perfect. My dogs ended up doing the temperament test; one of my dogs passed and one failed. I had a feeling that one of them would fail, and I did warn the staff that my bulldog hates little dogs. It was a little confusing because I had called multiple times throughout the day to check up on them, and I was told they were both doing great. However, when I walked in to pick them up, I was hit with the bad news which was a little surprising.
Although one of my dogs can’t go to the daycare, both can be boarded and I utilized their service this weekend. My dogs seem like they really enjoyed their stay there and they actually look bored back home. It was nice because they also washed the dogs for me prior to me picking them up (this is extra). Overall, the staff is really nice and I’ll definitely use them again.

Our boxer Billy LOVES this place!!! He just loves it when we go on vacation and he can go see all his friends here. The staff make him feel so loved and so welcome, and are so careful about him… we just can’t say enough good about this place. I especially love that they know his name… we’ve taken him several places around town and this is by far his favorite. Thank you Midtown Doggy Daycare for treating him so well when we’re away — it’s great peace of mind. :)

After looking for a place to take the pooch for weeks I found Midtown Doggy Daycare. The place is clean and the staff is absolutely the best. After just 2 days they know my dog’s name and give me a full report at the end of the day to let me know how he played. My pooch is tuckered out after a day at the spa. They have several packages and offer the best rates that I found in the city. I would highly recommend these folks. The smile on my dog’s face each day when I pick him up is evidence of the great time and attention he gets at Midtown Doggy Daycare.

I totally agree with the review below! My dog has been going to this daycare for the two years I’ve lived in Houston. He gets treated amazingly well, he loves daycare, the facility is clean, and the staff are great. They know my dog by name and what he likes and dislikes. They take great care of pets and their owners. I would recommend them to anyone!

I’ve never used the day care services, but we recently boarded our pup here for four days. They came recommended by a friend of ours. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful when we were setting up the stay. The men that work at the front desk here are fantastic, and made me feel so at ease about leaving our dog since it was the first time we were going to have to board him. I think they are the only reason I’m giving a second star.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have such a great experience. We had requested one of the larger spaces for our dog to stay in since he’s really active, and this wasn’t available. This would have been fine, however, I wasn’t told this, and I only noticed it when I picked him up and he was led out from a different room. Okay, not such a big deal, but I still wish I had been told when I dropped him off.
The staff invited me to call and check in on him and when I did, which was only twice, I was told that he was eating his full bowl regularly and going outside to «use the potty». I was thrilled, since I know my pup can get a little nervous and not eat when he’s stressed out. But here’s where my real problems came. The day I went to pick up my dog, I called to let the staff know I would be arriving before 6 to pick him, but that it probably wouldn’t be until about 5:45. I was assured that this would not be a problem. So imagine my surprise when I pull in at 5:42 and the last car is pulling out of the parking lot. I was told by the female front desk staff from her car that she was just leaving, but would be happy to help me. I was a little confused, but very polite, seeing as how if I had been 30 seconds later, I would not have been able to pick up my dog. She came back in and assisted me.
When my dog came out, he was filthy. Covered in poop, stinking to high heaven. I had declined them giving him a bath knowing that I’d want to clean him when I got him back home, but it was really a preview into seeing how his last few days had been. I mean, I expected him to be a little gross, but it was a little disturbing. His food bag was also practically full, indicating that he had NOT been eating sufficiently over the last few days (which was different than what I had been told). Also, we had left some clothes that had our scent on them and were told by the female staff member that they had been recently washed. When I got them home, I noticed that they had been completely soiled and not washed at all.
I just felt really confused about why he was so filthy, why I was lied to about how he was doing, and how I almost missed being able to pick him up. I just feel like it wasn’t the best experience, and it actually had me really concerned about what his time was like there. Next time, I will definitely find another place to board him.

I board my doggies here when I’m out of town & couldn’t be happier with the place… my dogs get to have all their things from home (blankets, toys, etc.) and they get to be together in their little doggy condo. Both pups always seem to have had a great time when I come to pick them up. They will give your dog (s) a bath on the morning of their pick-​up date which is super convenient since I’m normally exhausted after a trip & the last thing I want to do is bathe dogs when I get home. The facility is extremely clean & organized, and the staff is always super nice & professional (even when it comes to dealing w/​my smaller, not-​as-​easy-​to-​get-​along-​with yappy dog). Great place!

Failed in customer service. I called to tour the kennel and talked to a rude employee who told me the only time to to tour was from 11−1pm on mon-​wed. When I told him I WORKED for a living and could not be there in that ridiculous short time period, he claimed OTHER PEOPLE CAN MAKE IT. Since they have no customer service, i just decided to cut them off of my list.

Midtown Doggy Day Care is an amazing facility I have been taking my dog there since it opened. The staff is very nice, and above all my dog loves going. He gets so excited to stay, I would recommend Midtown Doggy Day Care to anyone that wants a nice clean facility your dog will love.

This is home away from home for my puppy. The staff and environment are so professional and friendly, we look forward to every visit. They will take execellent care of your dog.

Super clean with a really pleasant staff. They seem to be really conscientious about how they introduce dogs as my little man was introduced to dogs one at a time on his first day to ensure that he was not going to have a negative experience. He spent the whole day there and was asleep in the backseat within a block of our leaving — always a good sign!
The only caveat is that they don’t take any dogs who have not yet been spayed or neutered regardless of how young the pup is. Overall, he had a grand old time and we will definitely be back to meet new friends again!
