History

Established in 1995.

We are a 501 [c][3] non-profit organization, originally known as the Czech Cultural Center that sought out to create a space where people, of all nationalities, could become proud of their own history and learn about others to become better citizens of the world — starting with the Czech/Slovak population here in Houston, Texas.

Originally Operating in other facilities and trying to gather funds with a storefront in Houston’s Northwest Mall, through our and our communities efforts we were able to build a permanent home in Houston’s growing Museum District.

We built our space to have authentic architecture of the Baroque period (1600s — 1800s) that were palaces in Europe used for important meetings and social gatherings. We finally opened to the world in 2004 as the Czech Center Museum Houston.

We now have three floors of art and artifacts from the Czech country as well as spacious event halls used for weddings, banquets, parties, receptions, corporate meetings and more!
