Hobby Lobby

What, no glue by the gallon? What kind of craft store is this? So while they didn’t have what we needed they were friendly and the store seemed alright overall.

Antoinette, who works in the fabric department was very rude. Along with her was an older white lady that worked in the same department was equally rude to me. She did not even give me eye contact when speaking to me. When asking either of them about an item, they both ignored me. I asked them again and all she did was point! Like, really?
Also, there were 2 black ladies who worked in the floral department that weren’t very nice. I asked where the bathroom was, she held up her finger as in telling me to be quiet/​hold on and continued what she was doing. As I walked away she said «to the back toward the left. You’re welcome!» Seriously?!
Hobble Lobby is usually the place I go to for special projects, but the attitudes at this particular place turned me off and I will never shop here again. I was afraid to ask anyone else for help thinking I’d get the same response, so I left and went to Michael’s.

From bikes, to trains, to video games… oh wait, wrong store… from décor, to frames, to model air planes it the greatest store there is for all things adult & kid. A go-​to for those odd or primary craft items, home, office, whatever décor, and even party supplies. During major holidays you can find all you need to make your events magically beautiful. The prices are great and the staff friendly. It is one of my favorite stores.

Management and employees are rude. Customer service needs serious help. In addition their inventory is slim. This is a shame because the Meyerland location used to be one of my favorite locations. I try to avoid this location

Wow! So rude! Stephanie the check out girl is doing everything possible to make sure I never return! Went up and asked if she was open she mumbled yes without looking up or helping me. I just stood there. I had to ask her if she was going to check me out. She grabbed my ribbon, scanned it and threw it in the bag and went back to reading whatever she was reading. Sorry for coming in! It won’t happen again!

I took my undergrad diploma, law school diploma, law license and a couple of other super important things to this location to be framed. I got a call about a month later that the frames were ready for pick-​up, so I made the trek outside my 5 mile radius to do just that. After each item was unwrapped, one by one major flaws jumped right out at me. I was sick. This was paper proof of 7+ years of my hard work looking like someone with greasy fingers and a glue stick assembled the shit. Lucky for me, a really nice girl named Anum offered to personally reframe them, and even promised my satisfaction. Reluctantly, I left these cherished pieces of paper once again. Today, I made the trip again, nervous of what I would discover upon unwrapping each frame. To my most pleasant surprise, the frames were PERFECT!!! Thanks to Anum for doing such a killer job and making my OCD ass so satisfied! You left me with impressions of great customer service, kindness, and professionalism. Hobby Lobby owes you one!

I’m currently the duchess of Hobby Lobby in Bellaire. What has come of my life?
Oh that’s right. I’m a 30-​something year-​old woman who likes crafting, hanging things on walls and … okay. Nope. That’s not me. I’m a 30-​something year-​old woman who still has a costume party to attend every. single. weekend. With that, I must paint, and glue, and staple, and cut, and tape and all that other stuff needed to come up with a funky ensemble. Seriously, 90% of my facebook pictures, I’m in a costume. :/​
Michael’s in Bellaire/​West U is my go-​to store for a few reasons: it’s conveniently close to me and it’s next to Spec’s. Cheers to that!
But what Hobby Lobby offers is a cheaper price. Can’t tell you how many times I purchased something at Michael’s and then found it at Hobby Lobby for much cheaper.

Mind blown by Hobby Lobby. As a NorCal girl, we find JoAnn Fabrics and Michaels great. This one is a combination of JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, and Home Goods. I’ve been hearing about Hobby Lobby for a while now: news about their medical plan offerings, how it is closed on Sunday…
As I walked in, I noticed it was HUGE and much more comprehensive than any Super JoAnns or Super Michaels I had ever been to. It is far cleaner, organized, and stocked, too. While it lacked aisle signage such as Michaels, I still was able to find my way around while «Our God is an Awesome God» and other Contemporary Christian hits softly played overhead.
Contrary to other reviewers, I had no problem finding assistance. Rather the customer service people found me and politely asked me if I needed any help. I wanted a thin chipboard — a person found it for me right away.
Would definitely come here. By 6pm on a weeknight or on Saturday. They close a little earlier on weeknights and are not open on Sundays.

Went here late afternoon yesterday to get something framed. Unfortunately the helpful older white man that was here last time was off that day. Every last one of the employees in the framing section looked like they were ready to burn the place down, it was that bad. I felt like leaving. The girl that helped me, a skinny I believe hispanic girl. Her black hair was pulled back in pony-​tail. She was sort of like ‘I’ll help you but I don’t really feel like it attitude.’ Not overtly rude but not very engaging either. I ended up not getting one of my pieces framed as I didn’t feel comfortable with her suggestions on matting and I also was having difficulty deciding. Again, I wish the man would have been there. She pointed out and suggested a few matting ideas and colours for it and suggested a double matting might be pretty. So, she wasn’t awful. We focused on my smaller image. We looked at two 11×14 black and brown frames. She suggested black and I mentioned brown and then she asked what colour furniture I had and then said the brown might work. I got the black and she went back to cut the mat (I thought I would have to leave it). She came out and begin framing process and asked if I wanted a hanger also. She sprayed the cleaner on the glass, it was next to my image, I wish she would have been a bit more cautious and sprayed the glass away from my image. She left the completed frame and walked to the other counter behind me and said ‘Here’s your ticket’ and started walking to the back. My frame was upside dow on the other counter. I said ‘that’s it’ and she said ‘uh huh’ and I said ‘thanks’ and I got another ‘uh huh’. My frame was simply left sitting upside down on the framing counter. It wasn’t presented to me. No, ‘Do you like it’, «What do you think?’, ‘Here you are’, ‘It looks nice’… etc. The adhesive backing was not entirely smoothed out either. I did that before leaving. The feeling I got from all of the employees was one of ‘Please leave, we don’t want you to shop here (or anyone else for that matter).’ Again I’m speaking about the framing section. I noticed in the fabric section that the employee seemed quite jovial with the customers.
She also marked my image with masking tape, I’m not sure if she removed it before framing. I am not terribly happy with it because she cropped the right side more than the left. Cropping a little more than half an inch. I almost want to take it back and say please crop on the left more as it has much less of the image on that side. The front of the glass was also very greasy which I cleaned.
If I would have went to The Antiquarium Print gallery on Kirby I would not have had this issue however I would have paid a lot though. The total here was about $ 26.00. Will not go back here unless I call ahead and make sure the man is working.
She did frame my item and made suggestions and asked questions so I can’t say she was completely terrible as an employee. The main thing I’m not happy about is the cropping. It seems she could have cropped less.
I really would give between 2.5−3 stars if I could.

Major art/​crafts store in the area… whether you’re knitting a scarf, going pro at scrapbooking or working on your next Picasso this pace has it all!
Walking through this massive store you’re pretty much on your own… as seeing an employee is rare.
This is good if you’re a celebrity trying to keep a low-​profile but not so enjoyable as a stressed-​out artist in need of assistance.
The people who do work here are friendly. I usually go the back of the store in the canvas and large stationary department to find someone to help me/​pick their brain.
While we usually think the big corporate/​chain store delivers the best prices/​selection we’d be wrong in this case… Texas Art Supply is cheaper and has a better selection in paints. I usual go there first and use Hobby Lobby as a back-​up/​supplement for items that TAS doesn’t carry.

An arts and crafts store on steroids! Fortunately we found all the items we wanted because there were no sales associates in this cavernous store to assist us. Everything was clearly labeled and priced. The prices however, were comparable to similar stores. I was expecting better deals due to the obvious mass of scale. There were many clearance items, but none were appealing. If you are searching for Christmas decorations, they have every item you could possibly think of– from wreaths to ribbons. Though there were many people in the store, it did not appear cluttered and the sales register lines moved swiftly.

Probably the most expansive store in Houston for your craft needs. They have frequent sales, too, so unless you need something urgently you should never have to pay full price for anything here. If you go to their website you can print out their coupon and present a hard copy or mobile device screenshot of it upon checkout to receive 40% one full-​priced (non-​sale) item.
In such a large store, it can be difficult to track down employees for help. I have no problem finding assistance in the framing section and the fabric section (east side and south side of the store, respectively), but i have wandered for what seems like forever looking for someone to help me unlock the cans of spray paint or assist with a too-​high item in the seasonal area (north and west sides of the store). I would suggest they put some sort of bell or alert in these areas so customers can notify employees when they need assistance.
Finally, like Chick-​Fil-​A, Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays, which is super annoying. Why can’t they be closed on Mondays instead? Sheesh.

I try to avoid this place because I could easily drop a good chunk of change from just 15 minutes walking around. Even with all of the sale prices! I am one of those people that has amazing, creative ideas — but when it comes to creating and producing the idea… well, let’s just say it doesn’t look so hot. Scrapbooking? I bought about $ 200 worth of materials about 7 years ago with all of these great ideas… a couple failed projects later, the materials are stashed in a box under my bed. Haha!
I had a fairly easy project come up and all I needed was a can of gold spray paint. I had about 15 minutes to spare this past Saturday morning when I was in the area, so I stopped in to quickly pick up my spray paint.
I walked into the store a few minutes after 9 am. Several employees are congregated at the front of the store. Not one person acknowledges my entry or asks if I need assistance. I’m pretty good at locating things, so I decide to take a chance and find the paint on my own. After a couple of minutes, I was in the spray paint isle — but the entire case was locked. Yes, it’s the law that spray paint must be locked up. So, of course I had to trek all the way back to the front of the store. As I was about 20 feet from the front (and the still congregated group of employees were all watching me), I still wasn’t asked if I needed help finding anything. I had to actually interrupt their personal conversations to ask for assistance. Once my need was identified, the employee followed me all the way BACK to the back of the store to unlock the case. It was a quick process once my need was addressed, it was just rather annoying that I had to go back and forth in the store!
With a store this large, and obviously so many employees working, it did not make sense for all of the employees to be at the front. If they were at registers checking customers out, I would have understood. This was not the case.
Because of the lack of help I received, I highly doubt I will be back if I ever find myself needing to come here.

This store has absolutely everything and the prices are fair. Now if only things were findable. I also think it’s a little insane that this place isn’t open on Sundays. Who is shopping for their hobbies on weekdays? Get a job!

I normally love Hobby Lobby.
However, I took a rare magazine advertisement from 1982 to this location to be framed and the girl there dropped a mat onto the ad, putting a dent/​crease into the top– and then she applied masking tape to the ad to check her mat cut out. When the tape was removed– it tore the paper. She never apologized or acknowledged the permanent damage she had carelessly done to a (formerly) mint condition collectors item. She devalued something irreplaceable with her carelessness.
I will never take anything to be framed at Hobby Lobby again.

Every year my best friend always try to outdo me on Christmas and Birthday gifts. He’s so damn arts and crafty. I’m more of the «I’ll pay for dinner type.»
Well this year, I got news for him. I’m giving «Martha Stewart Realness» with this gift!!!
So of course I had to get on Unilocal to find a arts and craft store. I found Hobby Lobby. Y’all, Hobby Lobby had EVERYTHING! I’m thinking «why haven’t I ever been here?»
So I go in and already at the front door saw these bar stools that I’m going to get for my new place I’m moving into next month. Anyway I proceeded to the back to get what I needed (I cant go into too much detail, my best friend is one of my friends on Unilocal) So anyway I went to go get the stuff I needed.
The store had things from ribbon to wedding décor to ANY kind of Christmas decoration… to whatever. It really was a Christmas on stop shop!!!
Almost all of the registers were open and they were ready for the holiday season.
Hobby Lobby put me in such a good mood today!

Oly glittering sea of decorative delightfulness. Minus one star for the fact that Hobby Lobby (any location) is only a weekend thing because they’re so far away from my house. The selection and sales a not to be missed. I’ve recently started crafting wreaths, and after my other spot didn’t have any grapevine wreaths the past TWO times I ventured out, I tried Hobby Lobby. To my hearts content there was a plethora of them for my picky perusing!

wish there was another hobby lobby close by. the customer service is TERRIBLE here. no one really helps you out, like I’m used to at other hobby lobby’s. they just gesture their head to the direction where the item you want is.
BUT, they do have a LOT of stuff. I’m more apt to going to pearland though!

So this Hobby Lobby is huge… It has almost anything you could need to do crafts and more. However, the service is terrible. I’ve been here three times in the last two days and every single associate I have interacted with has seemed like they terribly hated their job. Like not even a hello when I’m getting ready to check out, not even eye contact when I’m gonna check out, not even a pleasant look on their face when I’m gonna checkout. It must be that I spend too much time shopping at other retailers who actually care about hiring friendly people. The service makes me not even want to go to hobby lobby, despite their great variety of merchandise. I’m not one for bad attitudes or bad service. I’ll pass on the mean mugs and start driving a little further to Michaels.

Do I love this Hobby Lobby for its customer service? Of course not!
But do I love all the specials Hobby Lobby has running on canvases and oil paints? Obvi!
That, and exchanges of paints is super easy, with or without an original receipt. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a paint in the store only to find that I already had two other tubes of it in the same shade at home. Silly, silly Iana.
And as far as customer service, it’s true. They’re not the friendliest people around. And sometimes a bit lazy. It’s happened on numerous occasions that I picked out an item with no bar code sticker on it. And rather than wait for the cashier to call someone over (who will casually and super slowly glide over to the cash register) and then explaining what the problem is, I’ve volunteered to sprint to the back of the store from whatever nook or cranny I picked out the item and bringing back either another one or a very similar item for them. Much faster than relying on them to do that job.
