Went looking for a bicycle basket. I was greeted as I walked in the door and was asked if I needed assistance several times. The staff is friendly and helpful. Looks like they have a good selection of cycles.
Since this location is in a shared lot there is plenty of parking.
I will be back for any biking needs

Friendly staff. Never pressured me. Got a awesome bike and service. Alan took me through the whole store and answered all my questions. I’ve been to at least a ten bike stores around town and most of them didn’t even stop and ask to help me. If you actually go in instead of go online there are some in store sales just like the Cannondale I bought.

Best bike shop I’ve found in Houston so far. It’s not a large shop but they have a great selection of the few brands they do have — mostly Giant and Cannondale. If you want that new Giant bike that just came out, this shop will probably be your best bet.
The staff is knowledgeable and nice, and their service prices are great. When you buy a bike, I think you get some free service plan for a few months, but they usually won’t charge you for minor fixes and checkups anyway. I think I’ve come here for service 5 – 6 times after my plan expired and only ever paid once (replacement for a bent wheel). They’ve always got staff in the service area so fixes that don’t require ordering parts are always really quick. No more having to wait a week to get a flat tire fixed at Boone Cycles…

Just bought a Catrike Expedition. Made three visits to scope them out and was never pressured. Third visit resulted in a test ride in parking lot and a purchase. Trike was fitted to me and tuned before I left. Received a thorough overview of the trike which revealed some storage areas in seat I was not aware of. Very pleased with my purchase experience.

This is hands down the best bike shop in Houston. Their customer service is fantastic and their staff is very knowledgeable. They have a huge variety of bikes, parts, and accessories. It really can not get any better than this place! Planetary Cycles will always have my business and I highly recommend it to everyone.

I bought a giant hybrid from this place 2 years ago. My initial purchase experience was a pleasant one. All the staff were friendly to me, especially Josiah who helped me find the perfect bike. I had ridden it only twice when I shortly broke my ankle requiring 2 surgeries a year apart. Normally they offer a free tuneup/​adjustment 30 days after your purchase but they were nice about doing mine last week, over two years later now that I’m finally able to get active again. They even adjusted my one knee scooter for me last year when my manager stole it from me, fell, and twisted the handle bars. I will definitely go back again when I’m able to afford my dream bike.

Great place to check out for the inexperienced bike rider! My husband and I came here looking for hybrid bikes to cruise around town in. I am what you call athletically challenged. I don’t exercise, do the gym, participate in sports, or know anything about sporting equipment. I entered this store clueless about bicycles and came out with a basic knowledge about cycling. This store has a huuge selection of bikes!!! The staff is very informative so don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
Adam, our salesperson, was very knowledgable! He got to know us in order to discover what types of bikes would fit our personalities and needs.
He recommended us affordable yet popular, quality bikes and let us take them for a test drive to see what we best preferred. There is a huge public parking lot in front of the store where you can test out bikes. I recommend going to the back lot of the store to test out the bikes– there’s an empty parking lot out back with lots of room to ride around.
I ended up purchasing a Giant hybrid bicycle and my husband a Cannondale mountain bike. We could not be happier!
Definitely try this place out for the extensive bicycle options and great service.

The first time I went to Planetary Cycles, I knew nothing at all about bicycles. Sebastian helped me find the right bike and all the necessary gear. He was extremely helpful and patient with all of my questions. His enthusiasm for cycling is contagious, and the experience I had at Planetary Cycles is unparalleled. Everyone there is helpful, knowledgable and friendly. I’d never take my bike anywhere else for service, or buy a bike from anyone else in the future. Can’t recommend Planetary Cycles strongly enough!

Went in to test out a Giant hybrid. Jay was great help, very professional, very courteous. I was able to take a long test ride around the empty parking lot next to the store. Wasn’t 100% sure, so I took a cannondale out to compare. I liked the Giant better.
A week later had trouble trying to switch out the pedals. Took it back to the shop and they took care of it within couple of minutes! Great service!

We purchased a pre assembled inexpensive bike from a low cost department store as a Christmas gift for a child we have never met and who is in Childrens’ Protective Service. Previous to presenting the bike, we noticed that the bike had been improperly assembled with problems with the gears, caliphers, and brakes. We brought the bike to Planetary Cycles and spoke with Danny Savitzky, the owner. While the shop was busy, Mr. Savitzky personally examined the bike and carefully adjusted all aspects of the bike including brakes, caliphers, seat, chain, etc. and made his time and expertise his gift to this child. Planetary Cycles certainly will be our bike shop of choice in the future. It was clear that there is a great difference in quality between bicycles purchased and assembled in a professional bike shop as compared to low cost stores.

After interesting dealings with a bike shop closer to where I live, I took the advice of a close friend and gave Planetary Cycles a try. I was in the market for a bike for my son so I decided to go look at what they had to offer. My son is now 9, was growing out of his old Redline dirt bike, and was really wanting a bike that had the same off-​road capability with «shifters.» This would be his first mountain bike.
I worked with Danny on what would be best suited for my son. He really nailed it down for me, and I also bought a lock for the bike, as well as a handy tower to hang my bikes in the house (I never put bikes in the garage… just my preference). The bike he sold me on was the boy’s 2015 Cannondale Race 24. My son loves the bike.
And, for free, Danny gave me some solid advice on a great MTB trail close to where I live. Muchos gracias, mang!
So, today (12/​01/​2014) I went in to get my daughter’s bike serviced. It’s a nice women’s Specialized 26er. Probably a couple years old now. Any way, she ran it into a tree awhile back and it never shifted right, since. It wouldn’t go into first and seventh gear for some odd reason. I replaced the dérailleur myself because I was hoping that would fix the issue. Nope! (This was the advice of my last bike shop, might I add… I’m pretty certain I’m done with them, but I digress…). It wound up being as simple as a dérailleur mount being bent. Tami/​Planetary bent it back and it seemed to fix the issue. Also, while she was at it, she replaced the shifter cable for the dérailleur (it was all frayed up), lubed it, lubed the chain, and adjusted the handlebars. Tami did all this work, with a little help from (what seemed to be) the shop’s foreman. I can’t remember that guy’s name, but he actually assembled my son’s bike in less than half an hour, when I was there last. Oh, including the cable, Tami only charged me 15 bucks and some change, after taxes.
Basically, kick ass service from this shop in two visits. I’ll keep going back, for sure.

I haven’t bought anything here, but I dropped by twice scoping out bikes and found them to be very friendly. I went to a couple of spots around town before dropping by this one, and I got the annoying bike snobbery from the other places. Sebastian was friendly and gave me good advice regarding anything I wanted to know. He didn’t look down on any of the bikes I inquired even though they were the odd ones out of the bunch.
If they have the name brand bike you are interested in – do check these guys out. The shop has a wide range of bikes and many sizes for you to try out.
I ended up buying from a different store, but that’s only because they had the name brand I wanted. If these guys had Bianchi’s, we would be in business.

My wife and I went here this weekend to buy a mountain bike for our daughter. Sam M. was super-​helpful guiding us through the options and accessories even down to the rear-​mount basket (which was very important to our daughter who likes to take the bike to the store for groceries). In addition to all this help, Sam gave us great advice on how to install and mount a rooftop bicycle rack for my 2000 Toyota Camry. Bear in mind this was a rack that I had purchased at a different store and that my wife and I had been procrastinating on assembling for months since it seemed so daunting to get right. Sam guided me through it and it is now on top of our car and carrying bikes. This kind of service is way beyond the call of duty. Can’t recommend these guys highly enough!

My girlfriend and I bought a bike here. A month later, we had a flat. I brought it in and they fixed it free of charge. I’m a happy camper

I went in the first time to browse and the sales guys helpfully showed me a number of different bikes that might interest me – no pressure to buy, just «here’s some stuff to help you figure out what you need.»
I went in the second time to buy. Lucky me, the model they’d assembled for the display was exactly the right height for me. I took it out for a spin on the road out back and was sold! But first — I needed a safety check, and the guys at the shop needed time to make some adjustments to make sure the display was ready for the road. Sebastian was my sales guy, and he took me around the store to find a helmet for my not-​much-​bigger-​than-​childsized head. I tried on several of the dozens of different kinds they had in stock. He also showed me the different options for accessories, should I choose to buy any, and let me know what I might actually need vs. what just looked cool.
All in all, it was an awesome experience, and I was happy to give them my money. I will definitely be going back for all of my biking needs.

My family has purchased from Planetary Cycles since I was a little kid, but this was my first experience purchasing a «real» bike (bye-​bye Electra Townie!) using my own funds, so I wanted to make sure I went somewhere where I would receive real sales assistance from avid bike enthusiasts. Planetary Cycles was the first thing that came to mind.
My husband and I came in on a Saturday evening about an hour before closing, possibly a bit buzzed from enjoying afternoon Hay Merchant brews, in order to check out some bikes and receive a little education about what might be best for our needs (exercise + leisurely rides on paved trails, neighborhood streets, restaurants & bar-​hopping, etc…). Matt greeted me within a few minutes and was very helpful even after I explained to him that, besides the occasional spin class, we are novice riders who were just browsing and weren’t really interested in purchasing at that time (we were planning to hold off on the purchase until Christmastime). You could definitely tell Matt is an engineer as he was very detail-​oriented. He walked us through the different options for male and female, but suggested I would be suited for a mens/​unisex bike as I am a taller female and also averse to girly colors (does any adult really want/​need a purple bike?!). Since it was raining that day and we couldn’t test ride outside, Matt wrote up a list of several models he recommended for us (Cannondale and Giant) and their prices, and we went online that evening to read reviews and compare options. Rather than wait 6 months like we had originally planned, the process made us excited to back the next day to test out our selections and make a purchase (why should we wait until Xmas for bikes when the weather is perfect now?!. Not sure why we didn’t think of this before).
When we came back on Sunday morning, Sebastian (or Sea-​bass, as I heard another employee affectionately call him) was very helpful, too. We told him about our discussion with Matt, and Sebastian even had additional information to add, which was probably a bit more high-​level and more appropriate for our limited knowledge of cycling, and he made us feel at ease with our decision to purchase. Before checking out with our Cannondale Quick 4s in matching mariner blue (much to my husband’s dismay), Sebastian walked us through the 4 «tions» of cycling, which included protection (helmet); illumination (lighting/​reflectors); hydration (water); and… I forget the rest, to ensure we purchased any biking essentials we did not already have at home. He also explained the process for airing the tires on the particular bike we purchased, the process for which is a little different from the norm. When we got to the register, Sebastian put in an order for the second bike as only one was in stock, and waived the deposit. The second bike should be ready in about 7 – 10 business days, which is acceptable, if not quicker than I had anticipated. In the meantime my husband and I took turns riding the bike around the neighborhood yesterday afternoon and have already put 25 miles on it. I can tell they will get a lot of use and we will definitely head back to PC for tuneups and to purchase additional bike accessories in the future.

Great staff and great selection. Competitively priced. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I’ll be back.

Planetary Cycles has great service and their staff always go the extra mile to help you with all your questions. We’ve bought several bikes from them and accessories and couldn’t be happier with our decision.

I’ve purchased my mountain bike as well as my road bike at Planetary Cycle and I always received a great service, useful advices and tips.
Recently I’ve experienced an accident during a ride. My road bike was all messed up and Court just fixed it immediately for me. He checked that the entire bike was fine and thus I was able to ride it right away! I definitively recommend these guys for their professionalism and friendliness.

Went in looking for a bike part so I could try to fix something on my own. Before I knew it the employees were dropping everything to try to fix my problem for me free of charge.
I purchased one of the parts I needed there but they didn’t the other hard-​to-​find part in stock so they sent me to another bike shop that would have it but not before telling me to come back so they could install it for me. Definitely my new bike shop.
