I came here for a post-interview social with some current students. The zucchini fries were crunchy, and I think a good portion for the price. I thought the beer price(I got an IPA) was a little steep. We also all got a sampler to share — I pretty much only had the hot wings but they were great! The atmosphere is loud inside and fairly dark and great for group. The outside seating is a little more intimate and quiet. They have monitors that show different games, both inside and outside the bar.

Love that they have happy hour from 2pm until 9pm! It’s great. Also, we found out shortly after we arrived that Wednesday nights are trivia nights — Geeks Who Drink. My boyfriend and I participated and even though we got last place, it was still a lot of fun. The beer selection here is okay, just wish they had more porters and stouts.

Baker’s has been my go-to spot for someplace with outdoor seating where I can actually hear the person i’m talking to. They have a wide selection of happy hour drinks(beer and cocktails) and food selection, and its perfect for just hanging out with groups. Because of the plethora of bars around the Village area, Baker’s isn’t really overcrowded and overly loud. Of course if you’re inside when they have a live band playing, that’s a different situation. The waitstaff is always attentive when i’m at Baker’s and I’ve never had any complaints. Again there are other bars and other happy hour options, but Baker’s is still my go-to for chatting and drinking. Oh and their happy hour goes from 2 until 9, where most places are until 7PM.

I attend school in the medical center and make a stop here with classmates a few times a month for food and drinks. I always try to make it a point to come in during their awesome bar happy hour from 2−9pm. The atmosphere is just like any other pub and the music can be loud but that’s expected. I’ve had just a couple times where service was horrible but all the other times, the servers were attentive, kind, and patient. On nice days, I like to sit in the outdoor patio which is quite spacious. My most recent visit was this past Saturday for their brunch(my first time) and it was great! You can’t go wrong with $.99 mimosas. Also, you have to try their Bloody Mary. They make it spicy and fairly strong and it’s only $ 4! As for food, I ordered the chicken and waffles, which was average. The chicken was bland and could’ve used a bit more seasoning.

The fish and chips were amazing! Best we have ever had! The bartender was friendly and very attentive. We went in the afternoon and there weren’t many people, but there should be!

We were lucky to come here on Tuesday, which happens to be karaōke night. We had a lot of fun singing songs and having a few cocktails. You can actually get to sing a lot of songs as it is the middle of the week and it is not a regular everyday karaōke place. The cocktail was good too. However, I was expecting the mule to be served in a mug rather than in a goblet.

Great atmosphere, game nights, live bands. The food is yummy and the prices are good! It’s my go-to for lunch almost 3 times a week! The staff is amazing and very friendly. Great service, great food, great staff! I definitely recommend bakers street to anyone that ever goes to rice village. Indoor seating, huge patio outside, music, and games. Overall best chill bar in the village

This is one of my favorite places to hang out and have cheap drinks during the week. Happy hour ends at 9pm on Friday and they have .99 cent mimosas on Sunday’s. Monday is 3.99 burger night. Any night is a great night in Rice Village. Make sure that you have a Snake Bite while you are there!

Solid happy hour, and it seems they have cool drink specials here and there. Standard fried pub food. Good for groups, with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Service can start to lag as the night goes on.

Got here an hour before they opened. The owner(I assume) was very friendly and invited me and my dog to sit on the patio. He even personally brought water for us. Talk about customer service! I ordered the carne asada tacos. They were wonderful. I highly recommend this place for the service and food.

For my first time here, this place was AWESOME. While I don’t think we were honored the happy hour prices, everything was reasonable. Had the bacon cheddar burger which was AMAZING and the fries were pretty delicious too, though they seemed to be lacking in serving size. Our waitress was super fun, and very personal. We enjoyed ourselves and will be returning.

Came here at midnight to just relax and kick back. Nice place. The food was good! I was pretty impressed. The service was very attentive and helpful. Sitting indoors was kind of loud because of the band but the music that night was pretty laid back, oldies. Definitely coming back next time to try the drinks. Good place to just hang out.

We love this place! Awesomely cheap drinks. $ 3 Pinot Grigio. They have pickle fries and Mac and cheese bites. Amazing English burger with fried egg, bacon and carmelized onions! Great outdoor patio in Rice Village! Can’t go wrong! Service is slow but there’s good deals!

Great décor and atmosphere. Lots of conversation pieces on the walls. About average, but good selection of craft, draft, and bottled beverages. Geeks who drink on Wednesdays are great. Quick and attentive service. Great location. A bit short on the fries. Don’t try the Philly cheesesteak, it was overcooked and too crispy, plus the bun was… chewy in texture.

Went here Saturday night– the crowd was nice, so was our waitress, but the drinks were another story. One of my friends ordered a Peppered Watermelon, the other an Angry Bird, and I ordered a Peach Hibiscus Rita. The drinks took forever, but it was crowded and we were patient. When they finally did come the only drink at the table that tasted like it had been properly made was the Peppered Watermelon. The Peach Hibiscus Rita was horrible– it tasted like it didn’t even have all of the ingredients in it. My friend’s Angry Bird was about the same, but he powered through. I let the waitress know about my drink, she apologized, I asked for the Peppered Watermelon like my friend had instead, and that was that. She even brought our table some complimentary chips and salsa while we waited. Finally the Peppered Watermelon arrives and it tastes completely different from the one my friend already has. There are hints of flavor that prove it’s the same, but the drink is so screwed up that I can’t enjoy it. In fact, it almost tasted like soap. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic, but the lack of consistency with the drinks was ridiculous. What is the point of having them on the menu if the bartenders don’t know how to make them? My advice is don’t go here if you’re looking for a complicated beverage that requires more than two ingredients.

The zucchini fries are gross, wines selection limited, price ridiculous, environment casual and laid back

The service was top notch, but the drinks and especially the food I found to be kinda bleh or gross. It’s not like it was a sanitation issue or poor cooking standards, the food just wasn’t very tasty to me. Those patronizing here having a great time and I felt like that kid who gets picked last in gym. Like, why can’t I like the food like everyone else? Why is everyone else enjoying the drinks but me? I don’t know and I don’t have the time or patience to really ponder as to what about the food and drinks caused me to have such low opinion on it other than for unhealthy food it tasted like gross unhealthy food. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some french fries and ice cream, but if I feel like I’m eating 1000 calories worth of food, than it’s either too greasy, too oily, too fried, or too something. Granted people don’t come here to help their dietary needs, but I expect junk food to have some flavor beyond, «This will make me sooo fat.» Again, nice service, fun crowd things you want in a place like this. I may give this place one more try and order healthier options per se and see if that makes a difference. To me it’s sad to think that a place with such good waiters has such sucky food to go with it, so I’m hoping beyond hope it was just an off night. I’ll try again, but not anytime soon.

While here for the evening(arrived at 10pm on a Friday night), the selection at the bar was great, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere was laidback and filled with conversations from the surrounding Houston area such as students from nearby Rice University, Med Center employees, local pharmacy school students, and other young professionals. While we were there, a band was playing inside that made it difficult to talk but played a good mix of music from the late 90s and early 00s. They also had pool tables and dart boards inside, which were usually occupied. The menu also boasted $ 0.99 mimosas on Saturday and Sunday mornings, that I would love to try out sometime! We had the pulled pork tacos, which were pretty good as well! Considering it’s walking distance from the University and other apartments in the area, it was a nice, chill atmosphere to spend a Friday night chatting with your friends and meeting new people!
