Good food and nice environment, it is more like a bakery but food quality is decent. I heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try and i was not disappointed at all. I will go there again and try different platters. I am fan of middle eastern food.

Some things I really love about Abdullah’s and some things I don’t. The first time that I ever ate there, we called ahead and ordered fetteh for breakfast, which they have to make special(I guess only one person makes it?). We said we wanted fetteh for 3 people. When we got there we ordered some other items, and when they brought out our fetteh it was a half-size catering dish that could feed 10 people and they charged us $ 56 for it! We were a bit stunned, since it was not what we were a bit stunned since it was unexpected. Apparently their individual servings can feed 2 – 3 people(and they cost $ 14, which is a bit pricey). We learned that lesson. We typically like their roast chicken, rice, hummus and salad; my absolute favorite is their kibbeh. They really do have the best kibbeh in Houston. The atmosphere is nice, usually pretty quiet. They have other food/grocery items for sale, too, though they can be a bit more expensive than the Middle Eastern grocery stores just down the street. The women that work there are generally very nice, though the gentleman that is there everyday is always a bit grumpy. I would recommend it.

Boy this place is just plain good. I stop in for lunch occasionally and the food is great, service is friendly and quite the bargain too. Today I grabbed a vegetable plate and had delicious greens, stewed okra, tabouli and a cabbage salad. $ 7.99 plus tax for really great food. I also love their chicken Shwarma.

I have passed this establishment lots of times and have always been intrigued by it. However, I have always been on the wrong side of the road combined with traffic and a u turn just seemed like too much trouble. This time all the stars must have aligned because I finally found myself at this place. I opted for the chicken shwarma because well I didnt really feel like eating too much. As soon as I ordered it they asked me if I wanted it spicy. I had never been given that option so since I’m mexican you already know I had to go with the spicy. I must say that I was impressed with the size by far the biggest Shwarma and it was packed with chicken. The spicy added an extra kick to it and I must say I really enjoyed it! And of course I cant complete my meal without a sweet so I had to order the baklava. Again, I was impressed. This baklava had extra top layers which other places seem to think they can get away with 2 or 3. Overall, I really loved this place and cant wait till I go back.

This is one of my favorite Lebanese bakeries. Why? Well, the mezze options(small bites/Arabic tapas) are good, as they make their labneh and yogurt fresh, which is a nice change of place from places that used the product that comes out of the Middle Eastern markets’ shelves. They accompany the mezze in a traditional manner, with mint, tomatoes, turnips, and pickles, and pita bread — of course. The pita bread is made fresh in-house, and it shows. I came for breakfast, and besides having the labneh, I also had the egg mixed in with seasoned ground beef that’s similar to taste to the awarma, the Lebanese-style of preserved meat — and they gave me a big plate of it which makes for a hearty breakfast. And, least but not last of all, their mana’eesh(or Lebanese«pizzas) are superb. Nearby Cedars bakery gets the nod in having wide variety, but this place makes my favorite in quality — the pies are big, flavorful, not too thin, and not too thick. They’re fresh, pillowy, and delicious all throughout, and easily one of the best in Texas. And lastly — their kunafah gets noticed by word of mouth around town. Their kunafah, or dessert pastry comes with either cheese or cream. When I came, the cream one was just pulled out of the oven, and I had to order it. Theirs is super thick compared to other kunafah in other Arabic bakeries, which surprised me a bit but makes for a great deal. While I’m particular about the ratio, and maybe would have preferred to have a little less cream, it was still a great piece. Cream lovers would rejoice at this though. I would love to come back and try their cheese kunafah. If only they can branch out and set up more locations throughout the state! I also liked that they had a small market component.

The food is expensive. The eggs are not spicy, lots of tomatoes in them. The mint tea is EXCELLENT. The foul(beans) breakfast is good. I like spicy but no spicy here. It’s very clean restaurant tho. Nice owners. I could not eat here everyday and not enough spice so I will rather go eat at Al Kabob by world food warehouse. Better prices there. They need to lower there prices if they want more customers. I’d come again if they lower the prices like $ 3 – 4 cheaper than what they charge.

First time here. We tried the shwarma & it was tasty but a little dry. The beef shishkabob was amazing. The meat was cooked perfectly – tender and juicy and not well-done. I enjoyed the sides – roasted cauliflower is always a must, spinach and hummus. But the best thing to me was the baklava filled with cream and topped with sweet syrup. It was more like a pie than the regular baklava treats I’m used to. I have not seen this dessert at any other Middle Eastern restaurant.

Very poor service, lack of interest by the guy who I presumed it was the owner/manager, he was treating his staff in a very rude way I felt sorry for them, I had the chicken shawarma the flavor was not fresh or have good taste, the salad was the only thing it was good. Filthy and dirty place you can see it on the kitchen and floors, I won’t back there, I rather prefer Fadi’s or Phoenicia’s Café when I want Mediterranean food. Im giving then one star but now sure they even deserve that.

I remember this place from my childhood, so I decided to try it again to see if it was still good. I am glad to say that it was much better than I had expected. It was lunchtime and I was in the mood for a kabob-and-rice type of meal. The beef kabobs and chicken kabobs were both cooked to order and the freshness was definitely tastable. My only gripe about this is that the beef kabobs were cooked well-done instead of a tender medium but it is something I can overlook because of the quality of the meat. Each meal came with three sides, which is surprising as some places only let you have two. Each side I picked was full of flavor and melted in my mouth. Needless to say, this is an outstanding feature as most restaurants neglect their sides in hopes that you’d be satisfied with just the entrees. The lentils, okra, potatoes, or any of the rice sides are all good choices. Afterwards, the bakery offers a plethora of Arabian and Mediterranean dessert choices. All of them were at very affordable prices! I ordered a creamy rice pudding and some knaafe which ended my lunch on a sweet note. Abdullah’s stayed true to its Lebanese roots since I remembered it back in the ‘90s and early 2000s. I will certainly consider coming back for more if I am in the Harwin/Hillcroft area.

Best Mediterranean food in Houston. I usually come here for dinner and order platter(1 main + 3 sides). They have the best chicken shish Kebob and shawarma I’ve ever had. They seem to have different selection of side dishes every time I come here and everything I’ve had so far tasted amazing! They also have a pretty large selection of deserts. I’ve been to at least 5 other Mediterranean places in Houston and never found myself to be a fan of Mediterranean food before I found this gem. Give it a try and be sure to go hungry!

I love this place. They have a huge variety of different Mediterranean foods and they have a decent amount of bakery goods as well. Now I’ll be honest. I’ve been here over 20 times and every time I get the same exact thing. I love their chicken shawarma. For me they have the best shawarma in Houston. I’ve had lots of shawarma around the city, but I just love their sauce and how the pita bread are crispy on the edges. I have shared with my wife their baked chicken and some of the other sides(hummus, Jerusalem salad, etc.) and everything is very good!

This was my first time visiting this wonderful cozy and warm place. I describe it as warm because as soon as you walk in your greeted and welcomed. It did take me a few minutes to make up my mind on what I was going to have. They have a great selection of plates and sides. I ended up getting the beef kabobs with a side of spinach and tabbouleh. For my drink I chose to have some of their mint tea. Very delicious by the way. When my food arrived I was pleasantly surprised. A great portion with plenty of grilled onions and tomatoes to complete the dish. My taste buds could wait no longer, I was savoring each bite and couldn’t help but to relax while drinking my hot tea. I have to say… I have had a lot of tabbouleh from all sorts of places and this is by far the best I have ever had. Every place has their perfect dish or side and I have to rave of its perfection. Great hummus as well. I plan to be a regular and cannot wait until I have had every side and dish here. What a great place full of great food. There were moments I forgot I was at a restaurant because of their family oriented feel. Lots of customers that came in have been going there for years as one lady I spoke with said. So I am completely convinced that you should try them too and see that this hidden gem will be your spot too.

Misleading prices leads to a rather sour experience. My first visit to Abdallah’s Bakery as a long time visitor to Houston saw me eager to try Arabic style pastries whether sweet or savoury. The place was a utilitarian mish-mash of warm timber flanked by a large display bain marie showcasing rows of delectable Arabic dishes — I spied plump, grilled chicken kebabs upon mounds of glistening rice and other familiar Arabic dishes, followed by a separate albeit smaller display of assorted Arabic pastries of all varieties — glazed, powdered, crunchy and drenched in sweet syrup. They would have been very tempting if I had dined in that day! A limited variety of assorted Arabic /Mediterranean grocery items lined shelves against the wall, leading up to a humble looking eating area of 70s steel framed chairs and tables. I walked in intending to scope the place out and pick up a few small savoury items. The lady at the front counter was polite and attentive, as was the gentlemen who saw me walking about having a look through the food options and asked if I had been served. I decided upon the zaatar bread and the spinach pie upon viewing what was on display. Perhaps it was because I had arrived close to the end of business hours that the offerings were slim. The prices on the price list clearly listed each item as $ 2.50. Any normal customer would assume an item constituted a unit price, even if it was in a package. I was charged over $ 8 for the two items I bought and thought it rather excessive for two small rounds of pita in a packet and a standard spinach pie. I gave them the benefit of a doubt and thought perhaps the gentleman had misunderstood me when I was deciding between taking zaatar or/and the cheese pita, but he explained to me that there were two pitas in the packet, hence it was $ 2.50 for EACH pita. I felt this to be rather misleading, considering this was not explicitly indicated on their price list, or before I bought it. Similar to when you buy a packet of 4 cheese puffs in a bag at a bakery or a retail shop you are charge on a per unit basis on the price displayed — not the price of EACH cheese puff in the packet, I could not help but feel that they had deliberately done this to make the prices seem more reasonable upon first glance to induce a customer to make a decision to buy the item. As a result of this, if I do come back to try their other foods, my advice would be to clarify the prices with the cashier before paying or leaving. I note another reviewer below me had the same problem. Otherwise, the pie wasn’t too bad — when heated up, the crust didn’t become soggy, had a great aroma and a pleasant, garlicky taste, speckled with chunks of marinated spinach filling. The zataar I did not touch and gave away because I was not happy that I was essentially tricked in regards to the price. I would have been happy to pay $ 2.50 for EACH pita if they had just been transparent about this. In my list of to-go places to try there are about 5 other Arabic bakeries I have yet to try including Cedar Bakery, and to potentially lose a repeat customer over a few piddly dollars makes me rather puzzled indeed. Perhaps I am being too harsh, but if they are happy for me to visit again(especially after this rather blunt review) I would love to try their other foods and turn a raw experience ripe again. Ultimately, it is not about the money, it is about the principle which has been fallen short of.

The food is great. Halloum was fresh and delicious. Shanklish was great. Foul(beans) was very good. The best was Homus with ground beef. Middle Eastern Shai(Tea) was authentic. The place is a deli, the sell a lot of Middle Eastern products and they have their generic bread brand. I recommend it for a Middle Eastern authentic breakfast/lunch.

So come because it’s an inviting, welcoming well visited place. Come and bring your taste buds and your passport, because this is the real deal. Sal-am! What’s not to like. Abdallah’s is a very good lunch place. My Iraqi friend has kindly brought me here twice. Each time, I would rate this space as warm and inviting. And, I would have no problem coming just myself, but why not share this good food with a friend? Good service. Tasty. Food Prepared Quickly. The manager is a delight and she will guide you to what you might find of interest to eat. Sashay up to the front counter and point to what you would like. Engage the staff. They will show you the way! Outside tables on a sunny cement pad porch. Bring your friends, we did and even had a meeting here with eight people! For the uninitiated American, YES the lighting could be better and the YES the interior could be updated, but hey you are really here for the food, and the conversation. Don’t quibble. This is a meeting place, a grocery, a bakery, a lunch place. Very friendly, very cozy. Come!
