Good food, delicious beer. Other reviewers have complained about the décor(?!), the rest of us come here for amazing award-winning beer made in age old traditions.

First off, I have to share 2 qualifiers: 1. Logsdon beer is amazing. Everything I’ve had from this brewery was excellent and I’ve recommended their beer to many people. 2. This review is not a review of their beer or brewery, but of their taproom location. About 2 years ago, a friend and I visited the Logsdon brewery location on an Oregon brewery trip. We had an awesome experience coupled with excellent customer service. We came away with multiple bottles to drink later and even left a hefty tip for the older man with a European accent who showed us around. To this day it’s been one of my favorite brewery experiences. In fact, as soon as I got back home from that trip, I found this beer at a local store and bought more of it. Sadly, I have to say that my Logsdon Taproom experience left me disappointed. I was so excited to be back in the area to check it out, especially because I love seeing places that have expanded and grown since I first visited. Why the disappointment? Much of it has to do with the quality of customer experience compared to my awesome first experience. Here goes… 1. When my wife and I came in, no one greeted us or even looked up. It was a Tuesday evening around 5pm with 3 other customers in the room. 2. When I eventually walked up to the bar, the young guy there just handed me a beer list and told me to let him know when I decided what I wanted. Again, compared to the last experience, this guy showed no interest or passion in what he was selling. I told him that I had tasted their beer and visited the Farmhouse location a while ago. I asked him what was new on the taps since then. His response was a curt«everything». This wasn’t true at all because at least a few on the list were ones that I had purchased and drank years ago. When I mentioned this, his attitude got even worse. 3. I ordered a sampler of 4. I chose what looked good to me because the bartender was either unwilling or unable to explain the different beer’s characteristics. My wife and I sat there and drank the sampler. Meanwhile, no one ever asked us what we thought, how we were doing, etc. In fact, I wrote this whole review while sitting at the table drinking my sampler, in which time not one employee asked me how the beer was. These things might not sound like a big deal, but you have to understand how great my first experience with this brewery was and how much of a contrast this was. It was the highlight of all the Oregon breweries we visited. I’m just sad to see that their Taproom location doesn’t share the same vibe and excitement that makes the brewery so great. Hopefully some bugs here will be worked out and this beer will get more popular.

So excited to find there’s an official tap room for Logsdon! Delightful purveyors of fanciful saisons and wild beer, finding Logsdon at your local taproom is like striking gold. A whole location dedicated to their unique brews? Priceless. Yes, the décor isn’t nouveaux rustic hipster. It’s a bit plain, but you’re here for the beer. And let’s be honest– you’re all on your phones anyway. Either checking these awesome brews off your Beer Advocate list, Unilocaling, socialmedia-ing, or taking a selfie with your Logsdon brew. Maybe grab dinner elsewhere and then get your beer snob on at this joint. No kiddos though– although that may change in the future.

Aside from their fantastic beers, they also have great customer service. My friends and I were trying to finish our gorge beer passports, and didn’t realize they closed at 9 until we got there, but they awesomely still let us try some beers and buy bottles to take home!

Is this real? First of all, their beer is great but I’ve been in souvenir shops in Florida that were more aesthetically pleasing than this place. I anticipated a Hood River tap house from Logsdon for a long time but when the beer costs a dollar an ounce & the atmosphere is on par with Applebee’s I’m not surprised that their tap house was empty & Double Mountain & Pfriem were both packed. I’m bummed & my $ 18 tab was accrued in vain. Enjoy your brief stay in downtown HR!

I miss the farmhouse. This location is underwhelming considering how long it took to open. The space feels very hodge-podge and not completed or representational of the brand. Of course, the beer is fantastic and the service was good. They just need to put more TLC into the space.

This place has really interesting beer! I tried a delicious peach sour that wasn’t on the menu called the Pesch n Brett(or something to that effect). It was fun to check out, but at $ 18 for two beers, we probably wouldn’t be regulars even if we lived in the area.

Logsdon Farmhouse Ales takes over what was a mediocre little store selling overpriced sundries and adds to the Gorge’s brew scene by opening a tap, room featuring their locally brewed Belgian ales. A small selection of Belgian nibbles can be had to munch on while you’re relaxing from your day’s hike and enjoying a farmhouse brewed ale.
