First timer… I really didn’t expect much from this place considering it looked like a regular take out eatery, nothing fancy… had to go through a narrow stairway to get up there. I just wanted to go to a place where I can bring my own wine. To my surprise it was a lot more roomier than I expected. The food and service was great! They even opened my bottle and provided the wine glasses no corkage fee.(which is always a plus) We had the chicken Marsala, shrimp and scallop alla bolla, garlic bread salami, and of course their lilikoi cheesecake. This place is a hidden gem and I will definitely come back again.

I like Italian food, but I like it a lot when it is affordable. It seems like there are a few very good Italian restaurants on the island, but none are this affordable. Win-Spuntino is located int he Market City Shopping Center, right above Thai Issan. Parking can be a little difficult, but there are constantly people coming in and out of Foodland, so you might just have to circle around a couple times. If you’re getting take-out, you can call in your order and pick it up by the time you find parking and get upstairs. I was surprised at the quality of my pasta because it took only 10 mins to prepare. If you are eating in, they recently expanded a bit, so there are now about 5 small tables that look over the Foodland parking lot. There is not much ambiance, but it is clean and well lit. I think most people get take-out anyway. I had the chicken piccata. It was a huge container of spaghetti pasta topped with two pieces of breaded chicken and yummy, garlicky, lemony, capery sauce. It was enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The service was quick and friendly and the guy cooking took the time to thank me for my purchase. I was impressed and will be back :) I am definitely enjoying the fact there is a nice place for Italian takeout in the Kaimuki area!

This is an Italian place that is owned and operated by a really super nice Chinese family. Their food is plentiful and fresh. That is not where my issue with this place lies. I’ve been here a couple times and while I do absolutely love the pricing and quantity of food provided, there are some important characteristics that I’d like to see incorporated. I’ve tried: 1) Garlic cheese bread 2) 5-choice salad 3) Scallop Capri 4) Scallop and Shrimp Degallo — Garlic amount added is plentiful. When too overly browned or just-pressed raw, whatever it is added to becomes so bitter that it can be just too difficult to enjoy. In my case, the garlic in both pasta dishes were too bitter for me to enjoy completely. Must gently sauté garlic. —(Real browned) Butter and olive oil are utter Italian necessities which if incorporated into the preparation would make it all perfectly done. Without the real browned butter and olive oil, Italian food will taste a lot like Chinese kine noodles. Which is what these pasta dishes feel more like to me: Kinda Chinese. [I have a Chinese ma-ma so for real that I do know what this taste is like ;) ] That said, please add more olive oil and browned butter(and maybe coarse black pepper and rock salt) to the sauces. — Pastas, Al dente. Noodle products should be just-cooked(rather than totally cooked) so that they have a nice, satisfying chew. — Pastas, variety. I like that they use different pastas. Pastas add different textures and personality to sauces. — Then, therein lies another point. The topping portion should not be a topping but should be mixed in well with the pasta so that the oodles of whatever noodles used, are allowed to soak in the goodness of the creamy browned butter and olive oil(or whatever sauce flavors are used) sauces. Sauces should be allowed to coat, enter, and wallow in the pasta noodles and tubes they have been neatly sitting on here lately. Let the goodness flow all over, all around, completely beneath, and all through them! Hehe :) — The salads. I love the variety and they even use tuna as a healthier alternative! Initially tastes refreshing and good then after awhile somehow feels like they do not actually meld well together, idk what happens?! Perhaps add olive oil for salads/dressings, coarse black pepper(not white), and some legit rock salt to round out and add to the taste of any necessary Iodized salt. — I absolutely love the garlic cheese bread. With a passion. It’s perfect. Please don’t change anything about it. — Scallops are nice and fresh. In pasta dishes, should be just-cooked rather than practically raw. Well, it doesn’t really work as a sashimi dish. — Chinese Peas. Um, as expensive as Chinese peas are in our Hawaii markets, are Chinese peas a usual part of Italian cuisine? Somehow I’m just more accustomed to spinach, zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, onions, and garlic(what am I missing?! Mushrooms! Olives! Basil! Potatoes! Artichokes!) in my Italian dishes but I do understand the necessity of utilizing whatever is in season and available in the area one lives. Comes down to it, it’s that dang Chinese mindset of mine that takes over and convinces me to think that I’m really kinda just eating Chinese(when I know it’s supposed to be Italian). To the manager guy who asked me how everything was: So sorry I did not tell you the above earlier. I was dining in with different groups and just didn’t want to hold everyone up from eating. You were quick to fill our orders, were always courteous, constantly filled our waters, and fulfilled our every requested need. Thank you for being so helpful and personable, and for coming by to check on whatever group I’ve been there with! :) In conclusion and all in all, if you can just make these aforementioned changes, I’m sure I’ll be convinced that you are in fact a true green, white, and red kind of Italian: D

I absolutely love this place! The prices are super reasonable and the portions are huge. I had the scampi, chicken picatta and the chicken marsala. The shrimp scampi was made as any other with white wine, garlic, herbs, butter and or course the shrimp, what I liked about their version though was the garlic. It was heavy on the garlic and I love me some garlic. This dish was an easy 4⁄5 dish. The chicken picatta was super tasty. The chicken was super tender and moist and the sauce had a nice punch from the capers. I love the vinegar and brine palatable notes that you get out of a good picatta. I rate this a 4⁄5 dish as well. The chicken marsala was amazing too. Super tender and juicy chicken, mushrooms and gravy all over a bed of pasta. I rate this dish a 5⁄5 dish. Oh be sure to check out their desserts as well. They’ve got some delicious cheesecakes man!

win-win??? It seems I am the very last from my dining group to write a review for this establishment. To be brutally honest, the thought of even making time to compose a review never crossed my mind. Not even for a split second. I just didn’t think I needed to sacrifice any of my time to even write anything. I did not find one aspect about this restaurant that would compel me to ever return, even to order take out. But, as I have always been told by my mother and other wise Unilocalers, there are two sides to a story. And so, let us delve into the positive and negatives of my recent dinner visit. NOTE: 1. BYOB 2. Parking available within the Market City Shopping Center. 3. Restaurant is on the 2nd floor. Didn’t notice any elevator nearby, but then again I wasn’t looking for one. 4. Restaurant is «dine-in» or «take out». Very limited seating for those wanting/choosing to «dine-in». POSITIVE: 1. The Great Company. It was extremely excellent! 2. Ample parking. Albeit, it was quite busy the night we dined there as it was during the week leading up to Christmas. 3. Diverse menu selection. There were various pastas, salads, seafood entrees, meat entrees, etc. available. 4. BYOB. We brought several bottles of wine to share amongst our group of five, and the restaurant also provided glasses. 5. Cheesecake was one of their dessert selections. We chose the two slices, lilikoi and green tea respectively, for our group to share. 6. Service was good. We all felt very welcome and well attended to. 7. My food was just ok. I ordered the penne ricotta. Again, it was ok. Although it seemed I could probably order a similar dish from Sbarro for a lesser price. Portion size was decent. NEGATIVE: 1. The very limited seating was uncomfortable and the tables too close together. It felt slightly claustrophobic to me. 2. My dining companions were not very satisfied with their food. One had chosen steak, and it was not prepared as requested. The chef kindly offered to place the steak back on the grill, but she politely declined as she wanted to eat along with us. Another had to ask for a knife to cut through her veal, which apparently was very tough when it should have been tender. My dining companion who sat across from me didn’t care for the excessive sweetness in the tomato sauce that was served with his lasagna(incidentally, the lasagna was supposed to be one of their more popular dishes). 3. Diverse menu selection. There were various pastas, salads, seafood entrees, meat entrees, etc. available. Perhaps the menu is too diverse. I honestly felt very overwhelmed when I began to peruse the menu, and it took me a while to make a choice. The menu is double-sided with their more popular dishes listed with pictures, while the flip siide lists their many, many other menu items, sans photos. 4. My food was just ok. I ordered the penne ricotta. Again, it was ok. Although it seemed I could probably order a similar dish from Sbarro for a lesser price. Portion size was decent. BOTTOMLINE: The staff and management make a strong effort to put out a decent product and make diners/customer feel welcome. However, as I’ve already stated, I do not feel compelled to return to this restaurant in the near future.

Overall impression: An Italian place run by Asians? Huge portions for cheap price? Yes, please! At least that’s what I said when I first got here. Unfortunately, the food really failed to live up to my expectations. I think I can make better Italian at home. Average price: $ 10 – 12 Positives: –giant portions –cheap prices –byob –the staff are very nice and friendly –their cheesecake selection looks awesome(but didn’t get a chance to taste it) –pretty cool salad bar/selection Negatives: –the food is really not that good at all –sometimes limited seating I was so excited to go to this place. I love Italian(even cheapo fake Italian) and I love cheap Italian even more. This place was byob, free parking, had a cool salad bar, an amazing cheesecake menu, what was there not to love? The food, apparently. I’m so sorry, I would totally give this place a thumbs up for absolutely everything except for the main the thing the place should do right. I was not happy with the food here. We had the clam linguini, the lasagna, the sausage spaghetti, and something else I can’t remember but it was all pretty bad. For some reason, the food had this weird sour taste. I have no idea why it tasted that way, but it just did. The lasagna was tolerable, I guess, but even that wasn’t very good. I really want to give this place a 4 stars, but I felt so strongly about the taste of the food that it kind of ruined my experience. I guess I would say 3.5 stars. Maybe one day I’ll come back for the cheesecake but never again for the food. This makes me really really sad :(

Karen Walker, errr, Anastasia Beverhausen’s Taco Time. Let’s be real, this is the take out version of 1990’s «Italian» as envisioned by the main stream chain restaurant with endless salad and bread sticks. The problem, It’s not executed that well. However, think of this as a food court, take away place. Large portions at plate lunch prices. Tables and chairs with friendly service if you don’t want to eat in the car. Standards lowered, suddenly it’s not that bad. The hot antipasto(mixed seafood in a spicy marsala infused tomato sauce) OK. Aside from the scallop, all are overcooked and rubbery. Flavorful but failing to burn off the alcohol leaves you exhaling fumes. Salads are a mess. White bean, tuna, chicken curry, black bean and corn all taste like they came from cans. A distinct metallic flavor in the beans and dry tuna and chicken mixed with too little mayo. The biggest mistake is putting them all on the same plate. Avoid. The much hyped lasagna is huge easily feeding two. OK for what it is(premade and reheated with lots of thick layers of overcooked pasta and ground meat topped with melted cheese). The major complaint, why did it come swimming in an inch of disgustingly sweet tomato sauce? Tip: Stick to the simple dishes. Fellow dining companions got adventurous only to be served rubbery veal and a raw(still mooing) steak dripping it’s blood into a plate of pasta. Sometimes we crave that deep fried burrito filled with protein paste(for me it’s synthetic meatballs from the«eat fresh» joint). Depending on our personalities, we sneak there in disguise or tempt our fellow Unilocalers by checking in. Either way, Win-Snack just might hit the spot.

I’ve struggled with the thought of even writing a review for my experience at this establishment. After reading all the four and five star reviews I was expecting so much more than I received. The best part of the dinner with four Unilocal friends was that we brought our own wine… great wines which we thought would be a great match for our dinner selections. I am a big fan of Italian fare and while the menu appears to be extensive it is not. Many variations of chicken, shrimp and scallops. Where is the veal? Where is the beef? I asked and was told it was actually the special that day so I ordered Veal Saltimbucca. I mistakenly thought I scored… not. I’m not sure if the chef was just not skilled in preparation of veal but it was a one inch slab, much the shape of a hamburger patty and tough. I asked for a knife to cut through a dish that should be fork tender and thin and flavorful. None of those should be’s were present in this dish. It should not have even been mentioned as a special. In addition, why is there no cold antipasto? All the salad selections appeared and tasted to be out of a can or from a frozen bag at best. The garlic cheese bread lacked any garlic flavor at all. From the samplings of my fellow diner’s orders I don’t think any of us had an order that would make a quality entrée, quantity yes, quality no. The service was good for such a tiny place and our servers really tried to make the experience better than it was. The«restaurant» is too small and with boxes stacked everywhere it made maneuvering even more difficult. I considered waiting to write this review and giving it a second chance however with all the Italian restaurants on the horizon I’ll leave this place to others.

Great Expectations A definite toss up between 2 and 3 stars– Here are my comments From the standpoint of importance to am eaterie + 1 star for the Service and Management interaction with customers + 1 star for quantity of a single portion of any order(that is, if quantity overrides quality in your book) + 1 star for the cleanliness of the premises and the ingenuity of the menu — 1 star for Food quality, preparation, and design of the food — 1 star for the Parking; which is virtually«nada». = + 3 stars Net My feelings were very torn as I walked out of the restaurant. I’ve read so many wonderful reviews of this place that my dining experience was substandard to reviews and my expectations. The food, while bountiful(each order could serve 2 people easily) was definitely below par. We had lasagna, veal marsala, linquine with garlic and clam sauce, and I ordered a steak(I should learn! If I want steak, go to a steak house NOT an Italian restaurant) We also ordered hot antipasto(they did not have cold), garlic bread with cheese and calamari for appetizers and last, a salad sampler. Over done pasta and underdone steak. Rather than to beat this dead horse; I will just end the food quality paragraph by saying they have a long way to go. The service and management interaction makes up part of situation as they recognized we(there were 5 of us) were each surprised and possibly showed some subtle dissatisfaction that management did comment and offer to 1) re-do what we were not happy with and, when leaving apologized and promised I t will be better next time. The seating for this place amounts to not more than 24 people, so be prepared to wait. The parking situation is such that you may have to circle the parking lot a couple times to get a stall and last, its BYOB(and they do have wine glasses for use) Despite my underwhelming feeling, would I go back? Possibly. It took me some time to complete this review because I don’t want to be offensive as I think the chef and owners were really great people. If the chefs or owners read this review; I would make one suggestion; that is to reduce the number of entrees on the menu and that may lend to more attention to quality of the food; rather than a smorgie-board and variety that in the end all taste the same.

we like the food, the service and the owners. it’s always pleasant in a clean place. Be warned it is a small place. it was even smaller a year ago. The salads are awesome, we liked the sampler. you might not like it if you are OCD. all the salads are on one plate and some touch each other. pasta salad, tuna salad, tomato salad, potato salad, mixed vegetables. The portions are good sized. we also shared the seafood pasta. We were full. plus go this location is that you can go grocery shopping downstairs when you are done eating.

I’ve bookmarked this place since a Unilocal elite friend told me about this place a year ago(2014), but never had a chance to try this place out. The opportunity came around when this Unilocal elite friend was here for the 2015 Honolulu marathon weekend of events. Thanks for the inspiration! Win-Spunito Italian café is one of those pop ups that you really don’t notice, unless you’re a foodie, or apart of the Unilocal community. I wouldn’t have known about it if it weren’t for Unilocal and the Unilocal community. The 4 star average is a clear indication that y’all know what works and what delivers that seal of approval to hungry foodies every meal on every day. I might be the last one to try this place, but I guess, but its certainly a treat to come here. This place is locally own and I had learned through other’s reviews on this place is that this place is a mom-and-pop business as well. So, it was great to patronize this place, having good food, and having good company too. The only caveat I would say about this place is that the café space is small. Very small. There were only a handful of tables and the rest of the space is basically the kitchen, so you could get an intimate view of the entire cooking experience. The restaurant itself is clean and it felt like being in someone’s house, for a lack of a better definition. While it was a nice evening out with a friend, the overall experience was decent too. The food was good, but a little bit pricey for Italian fare. It’s still great to support local businesses. Win-Spunito Italian Café is located in the building next door to Foodland in the bustling Market City shopping center in Kaimuki. The parking here is somewhat crazy, particularly during meal times, so I’d suggest to either come during non-peak meal times or park on the lower level and walk up the ramp to the upper section of the shopping center. Win-Spunito is actually on the 2nd floor, so there’s an entrance next to the Issan Thai restaurant currently in that space. If you are like me, public bus routes 1, 9, and 13 cruise through the area. If you drive, be sure to find parking wherever you can find it. Maybe you can find additional parking stalls in the Kaimuki high school parking too — after hours, of course. They accept major credit cards, so that’s always a fun time. For me, Italian fare is like Japanese fare. Good, but expensive. My Unilocal elite friend and I were there on the Friday before the 2015 Honolulu marathon and it was a good way to carb load for the big race. For me, I ordered the garlic cheese bread with bacon to start and for the entrée, I ordered the calamari and shrimp basil pasta. I figured that, if I were to order something worth while here, it would have to be in the special combinations category of the menu. The service here was good. The mom-and-pop atmosphere and ambiance was fun. To my surprise, my Unilocal elite friend spoke to one of the owners in Cantonese Chinese and he replied in kind. Thought that was kind of wild. During the course of the meal, I learned that they do catering as well. In the end, the food was decidedly delicious and the overall experience was quite good. Was it fine dining? Nah. Far from it, but the meal was fun and definitely put me out of my comfort zone for sure, as far as price and expectations. The garlic cheese bread with bacon bits was pretty close to amazing. Haven’t had that combination for the longest time, so that really hit the spot really. The entrée was decently good too. Seafood alfredo, which it really was, and with basil to really seal the deal. This $ 15.99 entrée wasn’t priced too bad, but still it was one to try, just to see what that combination would dance like in your mouth. For sure, I would love to come back, but probably on special occasions. The prices here can rock your pocket book, but it’s for a good cause. It’s a definite try on any Unilocal bucket list. You may be surprised with this one. No wifi, but the a/c was working. I had fun with this one. Support local! B

This is a casual diner that doubles as a take-out place. It’s somewhat hard to find the first time around. Find the Thai restaurant to the right of Foodland, access the stairway located to the right of the Thai restaurant, and you’ll see a counter for take-out. To the left of that in the back is the small dining area. They graciously agreed to reserve a table for us. The owner was clearly appreciative of our patronage, thanking and acknowledging us for dining with them. As for the food, the cheesy garlic bread with marinara sauce was a hit with my family. The pasta dishes we ordered including the casino chicken, seafood pasta with garlic butter sauce, chicken Alfredo, chicken anchovy olio were pretty standard fare. What stood out were the portions relative to the pricing. Why go to a place like Assaggio charging $ 17.90 when you can go to Win-Spuntino and pay $ 11.99 for the same dish? They offer at least ten varieties of cheesecakes for dessert at $ 4.95 each, with some seasonal flavor a such as pumpkin, egg nog and white chocolate/cranberry. The restaurant plans on expanding. Both the take-out and dine-in operations were very busy for a Sunday night. The late hour of 9:00 close time is convenient to most. My rating is mostly to do with how gracious the owner was in making us feel welcomed and how they accommodated us with a reservation. To me the food was just average(I saw everyone further seasoning their food with chili flakes and Parmesan cheese) but pricing is fairly on point for what you get. Portions are also very generous and most of us were able to take home leftovers to enjoy the next day.

This place is a small hole-in-the-wall, second-level Italian spot beside foodland. I tried the Eggplant Parmagiana… for about $ 10, it made me smile and waddle out to dessert afterwards. I loved the semi-sweet sauce and hearty sauce. I’d describe the dish as hearty, not elegant and crisped perfectly and served in the middle of a plate(as in many of the island’s Italian restaurants). One complaint: the mozerrela wasn’t blackened. Ok, two: meat selections here are basic… no veal or lamb. My roommate tried the shrimp Diablo, which had an oily sauce he somewhat hated for not being substantial enough. It also seemed very… hearty. The energy and ambiance here are great! It feels like having Italian in a Chinatown.

I would have never really found out or thought about going to this place if it weren’t for just a random night of wanting/needing to go out and eat some sort of pasta and it just so happened in the Kaimuki area. So as I was Unilocaling«pasta» I found this place :) Location Thanks to Unilocal,I was able to find this place without too much difficulty. It is located in the Market City Shopping Center literally right next to the Foodland supermarket. There will be some stairs leading up to the super small kine restaurant and it will be on your left hand side when you reach the top. Winnah-Spuntino When we first came in, we had to use the restroom so we had to ask for the restroom codes to access it. One of the workers was kind enough to save us a pair of seats since we were going to come back and dine-in there. You can order take-out or dine-in over here. There is literally maybe like 5 small table and seating areas in the stair top restaurant. The whole dining experience is pretty unique because of the smallness and claustrophobicness of it all but it is not bad overall I would say. As far as the food goes, they are known for their Italian inspired/Asian flavored cuisine. I got the mushroom spaghetti with garlic sauce($ 11.25) and the bae got the shrimp alfredo($ 14.50). Both dishes were really good and decently portioned. The customer service is pretty good. The waiter checked up on us often. Overall, this is a true and literally hole in the wall place for Kaimuki eats again specifically in the Market City Shopping Center. If you love you pasta, come down here for sure!

It was a dark and stormy night… We invited our visiting relatives to a fairly late(after 7:00PM, VERY late for us) dinner. Luckily, they agreed upon low-key dining but we all agreed to stay in town or near Waikiki since it was pouring rain. Both relatives are true oenophiles, er, wine connoisseurs so our thoughts of taking them to a Chinese restaurant was out. I turned to my trusty Unilocal App for a recommendation and noted that a good number of my fellow Unilocal friends had recently dined at Win-Sputino. Bonus, they are a BYOB establishment… We all braved the crazy parking situation at the Market City complex and dashed into the restaurant. It was rainy Monday night and we expected the restaurant to be empty, which it fortunately was. The restaurant is clean and bright. We were greeted by a very friendly young man who explained and described the dishes off their appetizer, main menu and dessert menu. All of the items are house made so even more so, I was«licking my chops». It took us a few minutes to decide on what we wanted to order as their menu is quite extensive. Our server was friendly and attentive as allowed us ample time to decide, checked on us throughout the meal and gave us recommendations on their popular items. We ordered a lot of food that paired well with a bottle of red wine. — Appetizers: Fried calamari with marinara sauce, Caprese salad and garlic bread. — Entrées: a. Chicken Sorrentino: tender chicken breast topped with eggplant and Mozzarella cheese served with sautéed mushrooms in butter and Marsala wine $ 13.99 b. Chicken Anchovy Olio: spaghetti served with chicken sautéed with anchovies, garlic and olive oil $ 11.99 c. Shrimp Scampi: spaghetti served with sautéed shrimp with garlic, butter and white wine $ 14.50 d. Monday Night Special: 10 oz rib-eye steak with grilled onions served with spaghetti sautéed garlic in butter and olive oil $ 21.99 — Dessert: House made Lilikoi(Passion fruit) cheesecake $ 4.95(don’t worry… we SHARED) What we came away with was a laid-back experience with huge tasty portions. The food is priced well as it offers good value for the amount of food that you get. If we return, we’ll have to make sure that our appetites will be up for the challenge… I don’t like to have to doggie-bag. Again, the service was very good and it was really sweet of our server to chase us down to return my umbrella.

My friends and I met for dinner at an Italian restaurant(whose name will not be mentioned) and it was a subpar experience. To make up for it, we decided to meet at Win-Spuntino and attempt to erase the memory of that disappointing meal. We were successful because this establishment contains it all: excellent service, a bright and spacious environment, delicious food, reasonable prices and generous portions! Located at Market City, park in the free lot(corner of Harding Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard) in front of a group of shops which include Foodland.(If that parking lot is full, go to the lower level with Ben Franklin Crafts, across from Kaimuki School.) Find the stairwell by the Thai restaurant next to Foodland, go upstairs, and turn left… you’ll find an L-shaped restaurant with the clean and organized counter in the front, and the pleasant dining area to the left. This was actually my second time here. The first time, a friend and I shared a chicken dish and a salad — both were quite tasty. This time, I had Scallops and Shrimp Ala bolla and it was superb! The snow peas were cooked just right so that they stayed crisp, and the sauce was not heavy because it was a garlic butter type instead of a creamy white sauce. There were two shrimps and several large scallops which were all nicely firm and seasoned well! I wasn’t able to finish the pasta because the quantity was so large and I wanted to save room for the cheesecake… That evening, there were only seven types of cheesecake to choose from. I got the Lilikoi one, instead of the Oreo flavor. However, when I tasted Ku’uipo’s Pumpkin Cheesecake I had wished that I ordered that flavor instead. I had a hard time returning her plate to her! Shucks! Now I have to go back and get my own serving of Pumpkin Cheesecake!!! It was that good! On the other hand, the Lilikoi flavor was just right — not too sweet and not too tart! The texture was light and moistly delicious! Special note: The Service. Two thumbs up to one of the owners/brothers who explained everything in detail to our group of ten. He was so patient and knowledgeable! He asked how we were doing and if anything could be improved. This showed concern for the customer and open-mindedness! I really respect him for listening and being a conscientious business owner! Best wishes for this restaurant always! Thanks to Terry & Darcie for sharing their salad — The Sampler was an assortment of 5 different varieties — wow! So yummy! Mahalo to Ku’uipo & Alan for sharing their calamari appetizer — mmm! So crunchy and ono! Thank you to Terry for making a reservation for us and suggesting that we dine here! Good choice! It’s really beneficial to dine in a group because we get to try each others’ dishes and have fun and educational conversations! Let’s go again! Where are we going next???

Holy Italian! Thank you Terry H. for recommending this place!!! My tummy left very full and very satisfied. Alan & I showed up right on time for dinner with some of our Unilocal friends on Tuesday night. Parking at 6:00pm at Market City was tight, but we were able to find a stall down in the lower lot. We weren’t sure where to go, but thanks to Unilocal,we pinpointed the entrance to Win-Sputino. As we got to the doorway, it was not what I expected! There is a food service counter then you turn left for the seating area. I was greeted by one of the brothers that run the place and he showed us where to meet our other Unilocalers. The place is small, but very comfortable. It was very homey! The menu is the size of a placemat, with pictures. Love it! The brother that greeted us, came over to explain that the pics were the most popular items. The full menu was on the flip side. There was also a smaller menu for appetizers and desserts! More on desserts later because I ALWAYS dedicate a separate paragraph for dessert! Terry warned us that the portions were big, but as I was looking forward to this meal all day, I came hungry! I ordered the calamari to share and the linguini with clam sauce. Hubby ordered the Chicken Marsala. It was a short wait for the calamari strips. It came on a bed of lettuce and a tomato dipping sauce. The strips were EXCELLENT! The breading was enough to coat and it was cooked perfectly! The seasoning was tasty to the point that I didn’t need the dipping sauce. The sauce was saved for the lettuce! Good conversation at the table made the wait for our food seem non-existent. I honestly can’t tell you if it was a long wait or not. Our food was hot & plated beautifully. As previously discussed, we agreed to share our plates so we could all get a sample of Win-Sputino. My linguini with wine clam sauce was HUGE! Actually, everyone’s portion was LARGE!(See the pics!). My plate was delectable! The clams were awesome & plentiful. The sauce was tasty & the noodle were al dente! Alan’s Chicken Marsala was not as sweet as I expected it to be, but the chicken was FANTASTIC! I didn’t even need a knife to cut into it! As hungry as we were, we could not finish it. AND, I stopped short of being full because DESSERT!!! So dessert at Win-Sputino is all cheesecake. And by God, it is HEAVENLY! There were only 7 flavors available last night, so the dessert menu does vary. I ordered the Pumpkin Cheesecake. Alan had the Oreo Cheesecake. My cheesecake was AWESOME! In fact, I’m not sure Aunty Nadine would have given it back after she tried it. Hahaha! It was as pretty as it was tasty! Alan’s Oreo cheesecake was also great, but that PUMPKIN! Yummy! Unfortunately, there were no leftovers for dessert. Sigh. It doesn’t end here, folks. As I was ordering my entrée, I spied a lovely picture of lasagna. I am in LOVE with lasagna. I couldn’t help myself & ordered one to go. When we got home, I opened it up. And the beauty of a LARGE piece of goodness greeted me from inside the styrofoam container. I couldn’t help it, I had to try a bite. It was one the BEST lasagna I ever had. I yelled to Alan to come over & try it. He also agrees that it is quite possibly the best he’s had as well. I wonder how much better it would have been hot? I guess I’m going back to find out! All kidding aside, Win-Sputino is one of my new faves! The food, the service, the serving size, the fair prices equal a five star restaurant!

I can’t believe I’ve never written a review for Win Sputino. It’s our go to place for cheap, tasty and plentiful Italian food. While it’s not home cooking it’ll get us through the evening with leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. It’s in Market City extremely close to us. Parking is not the best but never hard to find. The restaurant sits in the 2nd floor loft of the building above Thai Nissan. Follow the narrow stairwell up. They do take reservations. This is the third time I’ve done so. It was for a Unilocaly team of 12-ish. Things we like to eat: Salad sampler. Awesome! Sicilian chicken Shrimp piccata Chicken olio Chicken parmesan And don’t forget to try the cheesecake!

This place is amazing! Had takeout here twice and dined in tonight. This place is always quick and friendly! The food is delicious. Portions are large. Everything we had tonight was sensational. Appetizer — caprese salad Food — shrimp & calamari basil pasta Dessert — Oreo cheesecake(they have many flavors!) Some of the menu items are pictured, some aren’t. Everything is delicious and they’re open to customizations. They also have a variety of salads! We will be back soon. :)

Good Evening, This little place out of the way, just noticeable by what we say. You may find yourself stocking up on bottled water for the latest hurricane or just running into Food Land for that last minute taco seasoning. When walking into the store do look up and to the right, where Win-Spuntino’s windows are, here in this little upstairs space some of the better Italian food hides away. Ok, last night I ordered take out, it was ready quick the portion sizes were large enough to split for two, and the garlic cheese bread is why I ran 4 miles this morning, and guess what? it was worth it. Now a days I tend to judge the food by the distance I need to run to burn it off, and let me tell you there is no distance that I would not run for my fix of white sauce on some pasta. The atmosphere is relaxed enough to eat on site with some friends and BYOB, or wine. The tables are small and only a few but you can share tables and the staff moves quick to make room for you, and your guests. Speaking of the staff, some of the friendliest people, service with a smile is a real thing again. Hope you take a chance and sneak up the stairs. Bogdan
