Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai

. We thought we got a good deal by Checking in on Christmas Day, But it wasn’t worth my money at all.

No view what so ever we had the 3^rd floor, view was of Hilton hotel and construction workers doing maintenance in front of our balcony. I called to ask if we could get another room but the 3^rd floor is where Waikiki marina has most of their rooms
AC unit was broken I called it in and they offered 2 fans (mind you we were getting ready for MY wedding day) they told us we had too many people in the room but the grooms room was colder and they had more people in it. The hallways is even WARMER! Disgusting feeling I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.
Called to speak to Luanne (GM) she was very nice about it. She gave a $ 250 refund. I wanted more back at least the $ 600 I paid for 2 nights for 1 room but whatever it’s something.
Valet– $ 28. Staff was nice, bellman were very helpful. Waikiki marina comped gratuity for checking in and out for the bellman. That’s why I added another star.
Room was spacious 1 King and a queen sofa bed, small kitchen. Bathroom was okay. They should put a toilet seat cover because what if something drops inside.
That whole KEY thing with the a/​c and lights was stupid. So it shuts off after so many hours. Went to sleep with no blanket on, that’s how hot our room was even with the ac on blast. the second day our room a/​c kept shutting off every 15 mins we had to keep reinserting the room key.

We booked this place in July (5 months in advance) through Expedia. Expedia informed us that the resort had double booked our room, and sorry but you need to give us a call, THE DAY BEFORE OUR RESERVATION. My in-​laws had the same cancellation notice from expedia, who booked completely separate. This review is for cancelling on people the day before they’re supposed to stay there, when they had it booked for five months already, who are busy with weddings and get the most shit news. Expedia moved us to a worse hotel and I am going to post a separate review for that, and not a good one.
PS how do you double book someone when they booked five months in advance? Because you just don’t fucking care, that’s how.

This is the third time we have stayed here. Twice we came through a time share with shell. The first time we had a fantastic view on the 12^th floor. The second time we faced the street, not good. This time I booked a deal through
and ended up on the 3^rd floor with a ocean view. The rooms are old but kept clean. We love the location since we can walk to Ala Moana surf beak, mall and Waikiki easily. There is convenient car rentals across the street, but the parking fee is $ 28/​day. Still for the price and location it is great place to stay. The kitchen are small and old stuff but we really only end up reheating our leftovers here anyway. If you are looking for the giant pools and all that then this is not your place. If you are looking for a good location to walk from then this is it.

We stayed at the Waikiki Marina Resort for 7 days 6 nights & enjoyed our view! We were facing south onto waikiki beach & the lagoon, as well as the pool. Staff was very friendly! The Valet did get a bit expensive due to having a daily fee but it was basically a fee for convenience, I would say. The room was clean, a/​c worked, kitchen fully equipped. Another awesome feature they have & wasnt mentioned is they have an onsite laundry room! It’s fairly small, one washer, one dryer for abt $ 2.25. That was impressive! Overall we enjoyed our stay & look forward to staying here again :)

Just came back from Hawaii last night with the ol lady. We stayed here obviously. I said at least 10 times during our trip «I can’t wait to Unilocal this place». Let me explain: the place is a resort/​condo/​time share. When you check in you don’t check in with the front desk, you check in with the resort in room 212. But when you need stuff sent to your room you call the front desk. But when you have any questions you go to 212. But when you need to have have the water temperature in your bathroom adjusted you go to the front desk… Got it? Yeah, I didn’t either. The room is decent sized. There’s a full kitchen in there with a fridge stove etc. which was cool. There was no garbage disposal for the the sink so you just had to have your leftovers chill in your room. Oh and BTW, house keeping only comes once a week (on Saturdays). So if you check in on a Sunday and leave on a Friday, I feel for your bruhh. On our last day I was down in the lobby and asked 3 workers where’s the restroom at and they couldn’t figure it out… That was the icing on the cake. If and when I go back to Hawaii, I’ll be looking at other places. I didn’t give you my money so I can be my own housekeeper for a week while on vacation.

I stay here often and always enjoy it. It is a comfortable place to stay with a kitchen (microwave-​no oven, full size refrigerator, dishes and glasses, bar stools to eat at the counter), nice comfortable bed (you can have a king-​size or 2 queens), chair-​sometimes with ottoman, fold out sofa, a desk with a chair and coffee table. There is a safe in the room, sufficient electrical outlets and free wifi-​each condo has its own modem with login and password. There is a balcony with table and chairs and you’ll have either a city or ocean/​partial ocean view. Most units I’ve been in with a partial ocean view overlook the Hilton Hotel lagoon and if you are on a lower floor, you will be able to see the luau at the Hilton and hear the music. There is a swimming pool and though you aren’t given pool towels in your room, you get one at the swimming pool. On Friday nights you can often see the fireworks. There is a restaurant on the ground floor patio and a fancier restaurant at the top with a glass elevator to take you there (or to ride to see the view). Check in is on the 2^nd floor. It is part of a timeshare company so you will usually be offered the «opportunity» to hear about it from the concierge but they are not intrusive or persistent in suggesting it. I’ve stayed as a timeshare trade and as a rental-​all units are furnished the same so you can count on the same amenities. Cleaning is done every 4 days but you can always call for extra towels or other items if you run out and there is a place to dump your trash if needed. There are washers and dryers available. There is also a small market in the hotel that has some groceries, souvenirs and necessities but is a bit pricey compared to other stores. There are 2 ABC stores close by and a Food Pantry a couple of blocks away. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well as at the nearby Hilton.

This condo was nice, slightly outdated (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). There is a renovation planned for Fall 2015. The location is great. It’s right next to a bus stop if you are interested in taking the bus system. The full kitchen was really helpful because Waikiki restaurants are quite pricey. Pristine waters are seconds away from your room. The staff was helpful and kind. We had a city view, and it was stunning. Each morning we saw the sunrise from our balcony. I would stay here again.

This place served its purpose meaing it was pretty affordable for the area that it was in. All the touristy conveniences like the ABC stores are right outside and it was close to bus stops etc. The room had a kitchen, internet, TV. I booked through travelocity and wasn’t given the option of the ocean view rooms. So i would make sure you’re not facing the street. There was one night I thought there was a thunder storm and when I looked outside, I noticed the people across the on their balconies pointing and taking pictures. Turns out there was a fireworks display that happened everynight. behind me. I was able to see it through a reflection on a window across the street hahaha. My only complaint would be that the upholstry and bedding was really musty and that made the room smell. I think it’s because they have maid service come through every wednesdays and they charge for extra services. I was also confused why I was told there were trash cans on each floor. I guess we have empty it out ourselves. I did cuz i’m not guna be an asshole about it but it’s just odd. In one of the pamphlets I got with my keys said it was their effort in being environmentally friendly. i can understand that but they should try to achieve that in some other way. I found the lack of freshness in the air to be very distracting when I was trying to sleep because the bedding didn’t smell pleasant at all. There was one day I woke up at 3 am and couldnt fall back asleep cuz of that lol. I want to give this place a higher rating but I can’t get over that one thing. All they need to do is wash the sheets and towels and anything else the same way every hotel everywhere does. It’s a very standard procedure. I think next time I come to Hawaii, i’ll probably look into other places.

I really liked staying here. People were friendly, room was clean, has a kitchen with utensils, it’s in a great location, and we were able to extend our stay with little problem. the daily rate was around $ 200 a night, which was a steal as it was peak during the holidays. I would definitely recommend.

This was the 2^nd time my gf and I stayed in the Ilikai, although this time we stayed in condo #912. This condo was a 1 bed 1 bath and as anything it has its pros and cons:
Pros:
1.) Awesome view of the beach. It’s simply amazing.
2.) Ample cooking supplies, pans, dishes, glasses.
3.) Bed was super big and comfortable.
4.) Couches were comfortable.
5.) Chairs and table on the balcony, so you can enjoy the great scenery.
6.) Oven top burners heated up really fast, which made it easier to make multiple meals
7.) Close to the elevators and trash room (believe it or not this makes a huge difference, saves time, since the trash bin in the condo is a little small).
Cons:
1.) No vent in bathroom. This gets tricky when you get sick and need to use the bathroom.
2.) Some of the buttons on the tv remote didn’t work, which made it a challenge to change channels, turn off the tv, etc from a distance.
3.) No beach towel, so we had to pick some up at Walmart.
4.) AC was a little noisy and placed over the bed which made it a little hard to go to sleep and stay in a deep sleep.
Overall, the pros significantly outweigh the cons, this condo was just awesome! We’ll definitely be staying here going forward.

Advantage car rental told us noon pickup, stay after 1 and still no car. Then they tried to convince us that spending $ 40 to rent the car and $ 50 to drop it off at the airport was cheaper than a $ 40 cab fare.
But mostly the part where we showed up at noon and they told us 30 minutes and it took an hour and fifteen.

Good value hotel without ever feeling cheap.
I spent three nights here with my girlfriend and her parents, we had a large room on the 20^th floor. We faced away from the beach so there was no view, but the patio was huge and a great place to relax.
The hotel is a little bit far away from all of the action of Waikiki but it’s much more quiet. The 28 dollars a day for Vallet is expensive but so is everything else in Hawaii.
Our bill for three nights was a little over 760.
If I came back with just my girlfriend I’d prefer somewhere closer to Waikiki beach.

Can’t beat the location. Right on Waikiki Beach and close to shopping and restaurants. The studio condo has a kitchenette, king bed, sleeper sofa and a balcony. Room is spacious for two, but could be tight for three. The room and lobby are very dated especially compared to the newer hotels next door. There is no self-​park lot or garage on this property. You need to valet at $ 29 per night. A week’s stay is just short of $ 200!

I stayed at a studio Unit on the 5^th floor for one week with my family from June 16 to 23, 2013 through my Timeshare via Interval International.
Room was well kept and roomy as a studio. It has a King size bed plus a sofa-​sleeper that turns into a Queen-​Size Bed.
Fully-​equipped Kitchen has everything needed to cook but an exhaust fan that make the entire room smell like bacon or stake if you have them for dinner or breakfast.
They gave me a military discount on the daily valet parking which I really appreciated!
Laundry facility was provided and I did not have to wait to use it while I was there! It costs $ 5 total for both wash and dry. You can get your changes at the front desk on 2^nd level.
My room has the ocean view and share the view over the Hilton Lagoon. I can see the fireworks on Friday night at 7:45PM.
One thing that was very remarkable was: my boy left his luggage at the Valet Parking and they worked with the Front Desk and my friend to arrange a pick up 2 days after I left. The customers’ services were great and I am really appreciate it!

Lobby was helpful. Room was spacious. I was a bit bummed out to not have a view of the water (that costs more, I believe) but the view of the street from the 9^th floor was still pretty nice. Having a kitchen with four stoves, a fridge, and freezer made the stay very convenient.
There was a leak in our bathroom ceiling, but upon calling the lobby, they quickly got it fixed for us.
Very close to Waikiki beach as well as tons and tons of shopping!

This business shares space with the Ilikai, so some of this review is shared:
Check-​in: note that check-​in is on the 2^nd floor — not the main Ilikai check-​in desk. Also, if taking a taxi, say you want to go to the Ilikai — most taxis don’t know there is a separate resort-​within-​a-​resort.
Location: located at the end of the Waikiki strip, it’s convenient to the madness that is the heart of Waikiki, but is better located for getting out as well. Easy access to the airport and other parts in Oahu, as well as Honolulu shopping at the Ala Moana Plaza, Ward Center and more. It’s at an ideal location for walking the Waikiki loop, and is generally just a bit … calmer. Short walk to the Convention Center if you are here on business.

Conveniences: laundry on each floor (huge plus for an extended vacation). In-​hotel: well-​stocked stores for everyday supplies. Every room has a lanai and both city and ocean views are interesting.
A few years ago, the word was the Ilikai is dated. They’ve done an extensive updating campaign and now is very, very comfortable, modern and enjoyable, yet it maintains a feel of «classic Hawaii». A good choice.
Parking is expensive ($ 20+/d); park in the beach park behind if you can — I think it is less than $ 10/​d.
ABC store is right across the street but for a much better shopping experience (and much cheaper) go to the Food Pantry (438 Hobron Ln). From the street, it looks like a small shop but it’s actually a very decent and well-​stocked supermarket. A good find.

Staying at the Ilikai was very relaxing and it was cheap with our package deal. I couldn’t believe it. It was a hotel I felt like I was back at home, because they had the kitchen. We made tea, kept our leftovers in the fridge. What I didn’t like was they didn’t change our sheets and I made the mistake of going to bed with sandy feet. Ewwwww!
I didn’t use any of the amenities because we were so busy going about the island. I wasn’t a fan of the beach because the sand was harder/​gritty, but if you walked up to the downtown portion, their sand is better more like butter between your toes.
Great thing about this hotel is where is it located. You are seriously only 10 – 15 min walk to either the mall or fancy Waikiki. Elvis stayed here, how awesome. And Hawaii 5 – 0 was shot here and I heard again for a new upcoming movie.

LOVED our stay at the Waikiki Marina Resort. Our room was on the 3^rd floor, facing the ocean so we got a partial ocean view. If you’re lucky enough to get rooms facing the ocean, Friday nights at 7:45pm, there’s fireworks right by the lagoon, so you’re right there next to it! That was a nice surprise.
Check in time says 4pm, but if you get there early like we did, you can call them to see if they can have your room ready for your earlier. The staff is super nice and will try to accommodate. We were able to check in around 2pm. We had Kent checking us in, he was really professional and hospitable, after we checked in, he called our room to make sure we were settled in. ALSO, remember to go to the 2^nd floor to check in. NOT @ the Ilikai on the first floor.
I loved having our own kitchen. We were able to make our own lunches to bring them with us. Very convenient! The room was enormous with plenty of room for your stuff. There is daily housekeeping if you want it, but they only come in to change towels and take out trash, which was perfectly fine with us. We only needed them to come in a couple of days to give us towels.
PROS:
–Clean, big rooms.
–Full kitchen — fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, even a blender!!, I think there was an oven… not that we’d ever use it. Sink has dishwasher soap and sponge, paper towels.
–Super friendly staff
–Perfect location. It’s away from the strip of Waikiki, so it’s away from the crowds, and it’s a nice walk to the main strip of Waikiki where all the food and bars are (about a mile walk). We loved walking back and forth from the hotel. And the hotel is also next to the beach and lagoon.
CONS:
— Parking kind of sucked. Valet is $ 18/​day, but PARK IN THE BACK! It’s self parking and it’s $ 4 for every 10 hours, or $ 10 for every 24 hours.
— Shower water pressure was kind of low… not a big deal.
— Bed comforter kind of smelled… again, not a big deal. I’m sure if we called the front desk, they would’ve changed it… we didn’t use it at all anyway. I think it’s because it’s goose down so when you wash it and not dry it properly, it will smell like a wet dog!

Get room # 635. Really. It’s a personally furnished condo that’s been recently renovated. I found out through my friend and requested it myself. It fits four and is within walking distance to quite a few spots downtown.
Everything in that room is brand-​spankin’ new and made our trip AFFORDABLE. All the comforts of home, yet with still that amazing view overlooking the marina and lagoon.

This was the condo that I stayed at during my very first visit to Hawaii this past summer (so this review is long overdue: P).
For starters, the Waikiki Marina Resort is a separate company from the hotel that it’s actually located in, so the BF and I got lost in finding the place. After calling the hotel, we were able to easily locate the hotel. IT IS IN the Ilikai Hotel. haha We were looking for a sign that says «Waikiki Marina Resort» so don’t do that.
When you check in, you have to go to the second floor since that’s where their office is located. The room itself was decent. It had a huge bed, a TV, kitchen, bathroom… and it was CLEAN. So that was a definite plus. The whole hotel was clean. The kitchen was stocked with cookware and tableware for your stay.
There was construction next door but it wasn’t bothersome as I had feared. It was nice to have breakfast out in the balcony with some nice fresh Hawaii air.
The downside to the hotel (which is probably for all of Waikiki) is the parking. There is no self-​parking at the hotel and you have to valet (if you have a rental). The fee was $ 25/​day. It sucked but we had no other choice. Parking is a bit of a bitch over there. Even at the other condos/​hotels.
However, I am pleased with how things turned out. It was one of the cheaper condos that I looked through and it’s a short walking distance to the beach/​sand. Compared to the condos that the BF’s family stayed at, it was definitely one of the newer (renovated) condos and a lot cleaner.
The service throughout the stay was great. From check-​in, valet, to check-​out. We didn’t get to experience EVERYTHING that the hotel had to offer since we were out and about every day, but we did take advantage of their little store in the lobby during the first day. It’s like a small little liquor mart and it comes in handy when you need coffee filters or something like that.
The hotel is also right across an ABC store (liquorstore/​mini-​market) and a Starbucks, McDonalds, others stores and restaurants. So it’s a decent location.
It would definitely be a place that I consider to stay at again if the circumstances present themselves.
