The Imperial Hawaii Resort at Waikiki

In a prime location close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. Fitness center, a recreational room, laundry services, swimming pool, units with kitchens, and valet services. What’s not to like? I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Have walked to farmer’s markets, ABC stores, the Honolulu Cookie Company, several lunch and dinner places… the list goes on.
Only two complaints are, the wifi is spotty. Luz from housekeeping is neither helpful nor friendly. On three different occasions she says she can’t help you with a sullen scowl on her face, and then walks away. Luz, I know you hate your job, but don’t take it out on the customers.
Also, if you need peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. Very bustling and busy, plus the cargo trucks are noisy in the mornings. For me, that isn’t a big deal because I sleep with earplugs.

My daughter and I decided to come to Waikiki and use my Aunt’s time share slot here at The Imperial. From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out we were truly accommodated.
Now I have learned through my travels…
1. if I am staying in one spot for more than 3 – 4 days, find a place with a kitchenette and laundry. Check– place has both.
2. I have also learned to be close to a market and there is a large ABC in the building.
3. Walkable location to whatever interest me. This place is a block from the beach and you are right where everything happens.
4. Public transport if not driving. The bus to the other tourist attractions: China Town, royal palace, etc is a couple blocks away depending on which route.
5. Safety is big for me too. The location is very safe at all times of the day. I did not feel uncomfortable allowing my teen to go out on her own.
So we also rented a car to go to the North Shore, which we did through the resort. I actually canceled my pre-​existing reservation through orbitz because imperials price was cheaper.
They also provide maid service twice a week.
One thing I appreciated was the use of the top lounge which had great views. On our last day, I took a tour but my daughter didn’t want to join me. Although we checked out, she was allowed to come and go from their lounge until our shuttle picked us up at night.
The place isn’t as fancy as other places, a bit dated but it suited our needs because we spent most of our times exploring.

Great Location and great staff! However, the queen bed was extremely uncomfortable, so bad we ended up sleeping on the floor. Everything is outdated and the view was, well, we didn’t bother looking outside. What makes it worth anything is that the location is close to everything and the staff are wonderful.

Was disappointed this year at the Imperial Hawaii. Upon arrival, the AC was working very poorly and they sent a tech up who said it was working great at almost 80 degrees so the gave us a box fan to help. The shower door in the main bathroom fell off and the water would not drain from the tub in the master bath. The hot tub has been removed from the pool area??? The elevators and common areas were so hot they were unbearable! The concierge service was disappointing and one host was actually yelling at me when I asked to cancel my car rental after waiting for my rental car for an hour. After saying all that, the location is great and most of the staff were pleasant.

This is by far the worst hotel to stay with staff not friendly and it’s hot with no air condition. Changed room twice still the air wasn’t working
So I told my husband I wanted to leave but we had somewhere to go so we ended up just staying for that night. I couldn’t wait to leave this hotel. Sorry it was just a bad experience :(. The AC so hot :(

We really liked where this place was located. It’s next door to hotels that are double/​triple the price. If you plan on exploring all day then the small room with flip down Murphy bed isn’t too bad. One night we were able to use our mini kitchen with all ingredients from the ABC store downstairs. The best part was that the valet always took less than 5 min to bring our car around.

Last minute booking — Soo happy they had availability. $ 129 for studio.- came out to $ 150 after taxes and fees. This is the 1^st place I check for rooms when we go to Oahu. always happy here.

There is no AC or its down or something! If that’s the case I shoulda just stayed home. It’s more cooler anyways at home, We have ceiling fans too! And the reason why we even took this staycation is because we wanted to enjoy and have a fun weekend and COLD ROOMS. I was sweating while sleeping… Because the room is soooooo HOT!!! Gross

If I could give this place zero stars I would!!! Avoid this place at all costs! The staff is very rude, when they are actually at their desks and working (most of the time you can’t find them). I waited over an hour to speak with the concierge. While trying to pitch me a time share, an employee asked some very unprompted and offensive questions about my father’s death. The place is very run-​down and the wifi is extremely slow and you need to keep re-​connecting to it.
I was able to sign up for both trip advisor and Unilocal and write reviews for this place WHILE waiting to be helped. I never feel compelled to write reviews, but this place merited it.

Our family has had a time share here since 1985ish. Appox 20 trips here since then. Always great service and location is IDEAL for family travelers. Easy access to beach, dining, shopping. Room décor is a bit dated but they are working on it. Remember, it is a time share so upgrades are done from OUR bank acct. staff is great, many here 30 plus years, that tells you something …
Note– ask for a full size fridge and go to grocery store inland to save $$$. We eat every breakfast together which we never do at home. All in all I highly recommend the Imperial

Location, location, location. This hotel is in walking distance to almost everything. The beach is half a block away and stores and restaurants are all around the hotel. ABC stores in abundance; great for buying souvenirs, food, snacks, alcohol, and any incidentals you may have forgotten to pack.
Although this hotel is not all bells and whistles, the staff is courteous and helpful. The hotel lobby and rooms are clean.
The Studio is adequate size, however, when the Murphy bed is opened there is not a lot of room to walk from the bed to the bathroom. Yet, who spends time in a hotel room when vacationing in Hawaii.
Can’t comment on price as this was a timeshare points exchange.

Avoid this place like the plague. Dirty rooms, very limited view of the ocean and most importantly RUDE STAFF!!! This is not the alpha spirit! P. S. The hallways look like The Shining. DO NOT STAY HERE! I wish I could give less than one star! Oh the location is nice but nonetheless

The customer service here is great! Everyone was always so friendly and to me that is very important. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been somewhere where they are rude or seem like they hate their job. The rooms are decent nothing fancy. They are clean, comfortable, and very accommodating. This is my second time staying here and when I will definitely stay here again.

This resort is in the perfect location. Close to beach, restaurants and shopping. The pool is very small but the roof top area is tastefully decorated and the perfect place to get some sun if you don’t want to go to the beach. The ABC store is great with groceries, hot food, trinkets to take home. The Denny’s is nice with fun and friendly staff.

I’m so sorry but check your rooms for mold because I knew I was smelling something weird. And btw if someone complains about mood you need to comp and upgrade because mold is a serious issue

Upon arrival everyone treated me rude espically Todd. I did not feel the aloha spirit at all. Sheryl even gave me dirty looks and whispered about me. The room was dirty behind the pull out bed there was thick dust and the stove top was black and grimey. We even found a tick on the couch! The curtains were old and hard to open and there was no view. The only good thing was it was close to the beach. I go to Hawaii often but after my expierence I would not stay here again.

You can’t beat the location of this resort… it may not be Ocean Front, but above the 19^th floor does offer an Ocean view. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the resort. Surrounded by tons of shopping and restaurants so there’s a lot of things that are within walking distance. Denny’s and ABC Store is downstairs of the resort… so convenient!
The resort has 5 different types of units — studio, 3 types of 1-​Bedrooms (2 with full kitchens) and 2-​Bedrooms. The rooms are a bit dated, but the staff makes up for it by being wonderful and accommodating. There’s a pool at the rooftop, but it tends to get pretty windy, so the beach would be a better choice. Jacuzzi, sauna and exercise room on the 3^rd floor. Some shops and an Activity desk in the lobby. Wi-​fi is available in the rooms for a charge.
I love staying here!

My bff and I stayed here for a week. We got the timeshare from someone, so we got «owners privileges». Basically it means the owners lounge with a balcony, hot tubs, you can view the fireworks from the 26^th floor (owner’s lounge) or the 27^th, the pool which is on the roof. The pool is nice. The hot tubs are awesome and they have 2 of them. 1 is indoors and 1 is outdoors but on the same floor. They came in handy since I ended up getting hurt in Hawaii by 3 huge waves with undertow and was hurting.
1^st off I loved our stay. This is the exact type of resort I like. So for my gf and I it was perfect. I do not like maid service daily. Housekeeping comes in 2x’s a week to do full cleaning and be sure you have nothing on your beds or they will not touch anything. Good to know. On our scheduled day for cleaning it felt nice to walk into a freshly cleaned room but again this isn’t anything I need everyday. However, everyday they do come in and empty the garbage whether you put up a privacy card or not in the slot of your room.
The timeshare was for a studio at a decent price. We had no intention of staying in our room except to sleep anyway after all we are in Hawaii on vacation. We were on the 20^th floor which was great and made our stay that much better. So we had 1 pull down bed and the sofa bed. Now if you’re thinking we weren’t comfortable with those options… nope you’re wrong. Both beds were comfortable and believe me I would have been miserable if they were not because I have fibromyalgia. I was real happy when I saw we had 4 various pillows to use because I use 3 to cushion myself at home. Turned out that for the 1^st time in 3 years I was able to sleep flat and only needed 2 pillows. So that should tell you how comfortable I was and I slept on the sofa bed. I don’t know how many of the rooms have a comfortable sofa bed but ours did. We had a kitchen with a convection microwave, toaster and coffee maker. From our room we could look down at the center of the street and see the people walking around and also had 2 areas of the ocean we could see. Loved it.
Michelle and Dave at the front desk were extremely helpful and very caring because I got stung and bit by a fire ant. Michelle gave me the Dr. phone # and they pick you up at the condo and bring you back for free. I was unable to use it because the Drs. office wanted me to go to ER but that is another story. The point is the care I got was incredible. Dave looked at my foot a day or 2 later and said that’s a fire ant sting. I said I know and it hurt. LOL Dave also gave us some options of where to go swimming safely and we truly had a good time. I pushed myself knowing we only had a couple days left and when we left I cried like a baby in front of all the valet guys. Oh well really didn’t want to leave yet.
Everyone we talked to at the condo was super pleasant. The valet guys are happy and uplifting and Paul went out of his way day 1 to comfort my gf who has anxiety if she doesn’t have fast access to her car. They all fully understood and she was relaxed finally about valet parking.
Now about valet parking… if you rent a car there is no way around paying the fee if you want to park at the resort itself. This is an additional fee not included in the room charge. Tipping is something that should be done.
I did hear that you can park a few blocks away for $ 15.00 per day and if you have no disability that is an option if you rent a car or hop on a bus that runs all the time. We wanted to do our own thing our own way and needed a car. We didn’t do any cruises or that this time around. We choose to go on adventures and we sure did. We wanted to really see the Island. Now the other option you have is not to rent a car at all. You will find options at the airport to get you to this resort. Once here you will see buses and trolleys going by every 5 minutes or so. If you are booking tours or boating excursions you can get picked up at the Imperial sometimes for free and other times for a fee. I suggest checking the cost of transport to the resort, to and from the events you book, and weighing the options of walking around and how far you can walk. The beach is closeby.
Everyone is just so pleasant. Enjoyed new friends I met at the smoking area. Food your surrounded with good restaurants. This Denny’s is great for breakfast. The ABC store has drinks and this one is one of the best with a full deli with fresh food, high quality at that. Delish. I intend on going back and met a couple I will get a week timeshare from. For my gf and I it was a 5 star, for the sake of letting you all know it’s not the Ritz I gave it a 4. If you need daily maid service etc., I give it a 4 for your benefit. They do have 1 and 2 bedroom suites also. Our studio even had a bathtub/​shower. On timeshare WI-​FI is free.

My family and I stayed here for a week while we were in town. We got the timeshare from someone, so we got «owners privileges». On the top of the building there is an owners lounge that has books, a pool table, but most importantly a balcony. We got in on a Friday afternoon and went directly to our hotel. We were told that they have Friday night fireworks that we could see from the owners lounge, so we headed up around firework time and watched them from there. The view was great, and we could see everything. Its also nice that they have computers and printers up there so you can print boarding passes if you need to.
The hotel isnt new, but its clean. The staff is friendly and are very accommodating. We had a 1 bedroom with an extra murphy bed and sofa. The room also had a kitchenette with a fridge, stove and microwave. Everything you would need for a week long stay. The location is close to shopping, across the street from the beach and near a ton of restaurants. If youre looking for something comfortable and central that doesnt break the bank, this is the place for you.
