Serenity and Massage Ward

Great experience (: from the point of opening the door the staff is very welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend JADE she’s by far great soothing perfect pressure and she knows her reflexology (foot massage) very well, and I must add in she has a great personality always making me laugh. I recently got a great massage from JOSH perfect pressure, he was able to change pressure in my delicate spots. The peppermint oils he used made me feel rejuvenated by the end. What’s awesome as well is if you feel extra oily they provide a shower and towels if you need. Best massage thus far on island and I’ve been to four other places!

Amazing! My fiancé and I accidentally went to the wrong location but we couldn’t have been more pleased! The receptionist was able to get us a couples massage right away and cancel our other reservation which was very helpful. I’ve never had a male massage therapist but I was pleasantly surprised with how gentle and thorough he was. My fiancé also said «that was the best massage I’ve ever gotten!» We highly recommend this business. Very professional and welcoming. I NEVER write reviews but I couldn’t resist.

This review is regarding my visit on ⁵⁄₂₅. Upon checking in, the lady there was carrying on a phone conversation while speedily checking us in. She continued her conversation about a staff member’s medical coverage and the amount of clients he was bringing in. TOTAL unprofessional! I wasn’t trying to ease drop but that place is SO quiet and even with me trying to distract myself on my phone I couldn’t help but hear EVERY word she said. Upon checking out she did honor the 15% Unilocal discount even though I was having phone issues and the app wouldn’t let me check in but she was on the phone again! I feel like the call could’ve been placed on hold or something other than how it was handled.
As far as the massage went, I do feel like there wasn’t any consultation prior to the massage to identify the areas that I wanted to be worked on. Needless to say my masseuse was amazing! Raquel was her name and BOY did she get in there! It was a completely different experience from my first round here but nothing terrible. I just preferred the other masseuse I had, who unfortunately was off the day of my appointment.
Overall, I will be back here because I like the ambiance is peaceful, location is great and the therapist know their stuff!

Made an appointment after seeing the great reviews and a check in deal. Turns out I’ve been to the first location years before in Hawaii Kai. This is an addition location on Ward. The rooms and linens were very clean and the place is nicely decorated. I used to get massages from the owner Sandy who have great deep tissue massages. I stopped in last minute on Mother’s Day and they were able to accommodate me. Tim was my therapist and he did a great job. I prefer hard pressure and he was able to really work out the strains in my neck and back. Tim was also very friendly and asked I give him feedback on whether the pressure was too soft or hard. I plan on coming back to the Hawaii Kai or ward locations on my next trip back home.

I was able to «walk in» without an appointment (lucky me!) and saw a great therapist «Dinah». My lower back has been pretty stiff lately and she was a godsend. I highly recommend! Price was excellent, wait time was excellent, facilities was excellent, massage was excellent. Only complaint was I wish the table had a warmer (heating pad) attached to it.

I was hesitant and a little nervous. The last couple massages I got from a place in town … it was just weird. In short, I just didn’t have a very good experience at the other place. The guy just creeped me out.
Making an appointment was so easy. I made my appointment online using their online scheduling. Easy peasy … I set it for this past Saturday with Josh.
I was impressed once I stepped through those doors. It gave off that tranquil, relaxed feel with the meditation music that was played. The ambiance was outstanding. Everyone talked in hushed voices as to not disturb any of the other clients there.
Right on the dot at 1:45pm Josh came to collect me, ushered me in a well dim lit room … Niiiice. He told me I could either put my clothes on the bench, or hang them on the hook. And when I was ready, to lay on the table face down, he promptly walked out so I could disrobe ;)
I got in my bday suit. okay I left the panties on :|
I went to lay face down as instructed, and boy! The table was nice and warm. Which I didn’t mind … but for those of you that don’t know. I love the cold! So I eventually got hot later … moving on .
He knocked and asked if I was ready. Hell yes I’m ready!
Oh my goooooooohd! I asked for a deep tissue massage and that’s what I got! He worked on my shoulders for dayyyys! He worked out all my kinks like it was nothing! Stress will do that to you :/​
But, I did get a massage exactly where I told him I needed work on. ie: neck, shoulders, lower back, arms, calves and face. ALL IN AN HOUR!!! This guy is a massage god I tell ya! It was AMAZEBALLS!!!
When it was done, he gave me a hot washcloth to wipe off the massage oils. Sweet … I also had a cup of water waiting for me out by the reception area.
From the service I received as soon as I walked in, from the time I left … it was so professional and they are all very friendly!
I left feeling soooo relaxed! I stopped off to pick up food and headed home to promptly pass the eff out!!! I hadn’t slept THAT good in sooo long! Well, until I woke up because my stomach started hurting. (that’s another review)

If you check in you can pay $ 59 for an 60 minutes massage. If not, it’s $ 80. Not bad right?
Would I recommend this place? Pfffft … YES!!!

Great massages by friendly and professional staff! The ambiance is so soothing and the cleanliness of this spa is impeccable. You can call or make appointments online very easily. If I were more of a baller, I would become a member but for now I try to wait for the specials. Parking is limited but sometimes I park in the Ward shopping center and walk over.

All I can say is it was the most painful massage I’ve ever had and I’ve been getting massages for years. Asked for a relaxing massage but got a deep massage. One I asked a few times if she could ease up on but although she’d apologize she kept using same pressure I had stated hurt. She also didn’t use enough massage lotion or oil. Not only was the pressure too harsh the rub burnt as well. I endured it thinking my best friend had paid for it and should use it and hoped my muscles would appreciate it the next days or so. My body ached the next two days and I had to take some Tylenol to get through the next day. Then at the end wasn’t told she was done and waited a few minutes before deciding to get dress and leave the room on my own. Have to say it was the worst experience I’ve ever had and I’ve been to many.

This is the best place on island to get a massage. Well worth it if you can afford a membership, both me and my wife have a membership. Could not imagine going anywhere else for the best massage. The front is always kept clean and the staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are relaxing and the beds are comfortable.

Great therapists here! I am very particular when it comes to massage. I try to get in 1−2x/week (my hectic schedule permitting) Some of the therapist here are educated out side of Hawaii so it is great to experience new techniques. You do get a true 1 Hour massage and not 50 minutes. My last therapist was David, he is good. Looking forward to going back in 2 weeks. If you go for the first time they have monthly membership you can enroll in, you are not locked in for 1 year either, and the enrollment start fee will be waived. It was worth the enrollment, so I will be cancelling my membership from the «other» establishment. Enjoy! :-)

Kaliff is the best!
I am a massage therapist of 8 years and appreciate detailed muscle work, deep pressure with stretching mixed in, no fluffy stuff, knowledge of the anatomy, and technique. Man’s got it all.
I work at a spa, but go to him instead.

I have nothing but rave reviews for this place. As a member, the price cannot be beat. As someone who works in IT, at the computer for hours a day, my neck and back gets the relief it needs thanks to awesome therapists like Jennifer. I have a fluctuating schedule and love being able to call Serenity and Massage at a moment’s notice and book something for the same day.
I was just there and Jennifer fixed me right up! I was suffering from tightness in my shoulders and neck, and in my hip area. She was able to hone in on the trouble areas and whip me back into shape. She has the wonderful ability to adjust the pressure to ensure a relaxing, healing massage. Awesome!
I’ve been to Dinah before too. She is also very talented and has the gift of healing hands. As I mentioned before, my schedule is all over the place so I really appreciate being able to get a massage without much notice at all, trusting that I will be able to see a therapist who can understand my pain and provide the healing massage I need.
Massage allows me to keep centered and healthy. I depend on talented massage therapists to help maintain my mental and physical well-​being, to manage stress and live a more balanced life. I am thankful for Serenity and Massage for the great service, affordability, and flexibility they give me.
If you are looking to incorporate massage into your lifestyle with monthly (or more) visits, consider this place. I’m glad to be a member.

It’s been 1 yr and a half of being a member and still going strong! I’m totally reluctant to write this review because 1, my favorite therapist no longer works there and 2, the one I go to now. well I don’t wanna share him. I’m afraid he’ll get too booked and its gonna be a problem for me to get an appointment with him.
Anyhoo, he who shall remain nameless, (Kalif), by far is the best best best! I walk in, don’t even really need to tell him what’s going on with my aches and pains and he just takes over. When he’s done, I literally feel like I have no care in the world and have just had the best Yoga session. Sometimes I feel, like I’m getting such a good deal from his massages that i am worried that he’ll start charging me more! Besides, he’s absolutely the nicest guy and I never feel weird or uncomfortable at all. I’ve even booked with Avery when I couldn’t get an apt with Kalif and he was great too! Super funny guy, strong hands.
Everybody is super nice and professional there. It’s clean, there’s parking, it’s close to Ward Starbucks, they have a fabulous membership program and there’s Kalif.

Omg! Loved this placed. My fiancé and I were in town from San Diego and were referred by a friend to go get a couples massage. They were so great at accommodating of our last minute request and getting us the couples room. From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed. The place is an amazing atmosphere and everyone was so nice.
Our therapists were wonderful. The perfect pressure and hit all the right spots. We were so relaxed leaving we couldn’t even talk.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone and such an affordable price! We will definitely be back as we go to Hawaii often.

First of all I have to disclose that I’ve had HUNDREDS, with no exaggeration, of massages in my life and the one I had today at the Ward location of Serenity and Massage, was BY FAR, the most unique experience I’ve ever had.
My therapists name was Natalia and she is originally from Russia (that should have been my first clue). I inform Natalia that I had just had a massage two days ago in Orlando but due to the 11 hours of flying my massage benefits were completely gone and my lower back was really bothering me. She listened attentively and then shared with me her preferred method after I told her I usually get deep tissue massage. She said she likes to stretch the body first as that usually allows for a deeper massage. I said no problem. Man, oh man, can that girl do stretching. So the massage ended up being a combination of Thai (which is all stretching) and deep tissue. At one point during the Thai portion I asked to focus on my breathing because apparently I wasn’t breathing (of course I wasn’t breathing I was just trying to not focus on tight my muscles are and how NOT limber I am). There was a point during this portion where I was absolutely convinced I could lose a limb. Yep, like it was just going to pop out of it’s socket. Magically, I left there with limbs in tact.
Now, on to the deep tissue. Don’t let this tiny litte thing fool you. This girl can go DEEP. And when I say deep, I mean so deep that at one point I almost shouted abort! Mission over! Enemy is dead! She started out by pressing down on various parts of my back and commented how tight my back was (I hear that all the time that’s why I have to get massages so frequently). So, I guess she didn’t feel she was making any head way on my glutes so the next thing you know she’s on the table with her knees trying to kill the aliens in my glutes. I was certain that I may not make it out of that room alive.
At the end of the day, I gave her 5 stars for a reason. She’s really good at what she does, she’s very professional and friendly and although the experience was very eclectic and a bit painful at times (not her fault, my muscles kept fighting her) I walked out of there feeling 1000% better than when I walked in. Would I go back to her? Absolutely! Do I recommend her to others? Absolutely, ONLY if you are not a wimp and can handle some seriously deep work.
The final touch of her massage was also something I’ve never had done as well. She had me sit up and had me attempt to roll my back instead of having it be flat and she pushed me forward for my final stretch. Nice touch!

I’m a member here now and it’s been my 4^th month (late on the updated review). I have had 3 massage therapists – Dinah, Vanessa, and Paula (had Vanessa twice). I reviewed Dinah last time, so I’ll review Vanessa and Paula. Vanessa is combines massage and stretching, which helps me a lot since I have a lot of tightness in my hips from running. She uses really good pressure and asks if you would like more or less. I feel really relaxed after her massages. Paula uses more deep tissue massage techniques. I had a huge sore spot on my neck from sleeping wrong when I got sick, and she really worked at getting it out. Her technique, when she worked on me, was more focused on the neck area, but she worked on the whole body. If you’re looking for targeted, deep tissue massage, she’s the one to get!
I don’t know of any other female masseuses there, but I may branch out and try the male therapists! :)

The day after I wrote my initial review, I received an email from the supervisor of Serenity who had read my review. First, he apologized for my bad experience and then invited me back to give the place another try. I was so impressed, not only because he read my review and took the time to personally contact me, but it was also refreshing to see a business that cares about their customer’s experience, and the sincerity in the email definitely convinced me to give the place another try. And I am thankful and glad that I did. This time, I had Randall as my therapist, who so happens to be the supervisor as well, and seriously, it was one of the best massages ever. I said nothing and he knew exactly where my pain was, and the pressure was outstanding! Like I explained to him, perhaps the other therapist I originally had was having an off day… who knows. But now after experiencing this massage, I understand why this place has such high reviews and I am in complete agreement. I was so pleased in fact that I even signed up for the monthly membership! I am now going to be a Serenity regular.
But above the great massage I got, I am beyond impressed by the customer service of this business. There are not many businesses that would care about one single person’s opinion. The fact that my experience mattered, and I’m really just nobody… that speaks volumes to the type of business this place is — and it definitely now has my support and I highly recommend Serenity to everyone!

Being from out of town, I wanted to book a pregnancy massage on the last day of our trip before flying out the next morning. I am so glad that I Unilocal’ed and foudn this place!
My husband and I were able to get a massage simultaneously in the couple’s room. This place is very clean, calm, and professional.
After pricing out my different options around the Honolulu area, for a one-​hour massage they gave us the new member price of $ 49/​each! That is a fraction of the cost that most of the hotels in Waikiki were charging for the same service.
My massage therapist was very thorough in making sure I was comfortable and that the pressure wasn’t too much. I felt soooo good after my massage, I took a nap when we got back to our cottage in Kailua!
Will definitely be keeping this place on my radar next time we come back to Oahu!

For my birthday I received a gift certificate for a massage here from a friend out of state. I was thrilled to find that they had a Ward location which was closer to my work. It was easy to find, the parking was convenient and when I walked in I was created by the receptionist. I loved the décor, it was dark blue and dark grey, the lighting was low and calming. The wall decorations where simple, tasteful and everything was new and clean. My masseuse was very professional and not afraid to really work on the tough spots. The hour went by too quickly and I am ready to go back again!
They have gift certificates that you can purchase and redeem online, which is really convenient.
