I used to go here because I’ve been a long-time client of Nellie’s. However, the last two times I’ve been to her, I have not been satisfied with her services. The second to last haircut she gave me, she gave me a haircut I did not want at all, so I made her re-cut it. I had wanted a one-length bob but she proceeded to give me an odd inverted bob cut with very long sides and a much shorter back. The re-cut was much better and more of what I wanted. Although I lost length, she was able to make the cut look more like a one-length bob. She did a good job on the re-cut. Unfortunately, my last haircut was the worse cut ever. First, I needed to switch my appointment from 11:00. She said she would switch me with her 10:00 appointment. When I showed up for my 10:00 appointment, there were two of us waiting for one appointment. She had forgotten to ask her client to switch appointments with me. I had to wait an hour and nearly missed getting back home to pick up my son at school when I was done. Second, she gave me the same inverted bob haircut that I disliked and had made her re-cut. I even brought photos of an all-over layered haircut(like an updated shag) to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted. The haircut looked like the shag from the front. But when I got home, I saw the back was short with sides that were 2 ½ inches longer. I was expecting a long layered shag haircut, not an inverted bob. It looked like two different haircuts on my head. She had made the sides so jagged and thin that when I tried to blow dry it the next day, they looked thin, flyaway and wispy. She had taken too much weight off my sides, which are already thin to begin with. I was extremely disappointed and upset. In addition, she talked me into«undercutting» the back of my hair, since that area was very wavy. She claimed undercutting would make it easier for me to blow dry my hair straight. «You’ll love it!» she told me. When she had suggested I try to have her«undercut» my hair, I did not fully understand what it was. In fact, I didn’t even know it was called«undercutting» until I went to another stylist. Nellie told me: «don’t get mad at me now if I do this.» In hindsight, her comment should have given me pause. But I had great faith in her because of her years of experience and expertise, so I wasn’t concerned at the time. Up until the last two haircuts, she had always done a superb job on my hair and had always given me the cut I wanted. The undercutting didn’t work. It made my hair harder to blow dry straight because a large section was way shorter and layered underneath the top layer. When my hair is short, it really get wavy and hard to control. And my hair lost thickness – she undercut so much that my hair didn’t have any weight and felt so thin. While I could get the top layer smooth, the undercut portion was super curly and wouldn’t lie flat, causing the back of my hair to stick out. I paid $ 100.00 including tip for a haircut that I didn’t want, and one that was difficult to style. I felt it best to go to another stylist to re-do Nellie’s haircut instead of having her re-cut it, since Nellie told me «not to get mad at her» for the undercutting. The other stylist said that undercutting is not done on thin, fine hair like mine; it is a technique reserved for thick, wavy hair. Twice in a row Nellie gave me a haircut I never requested nor wanted, so there was some kind of communication breakdown going on. I no longer felt comfortable, so I thought it best to move on.

I see Joe for my color and cuts. He’s taken awesome care of me for the last year. I’m always very last minute and call him for appointments day of and he always does his best to accommodate me even though I know I drive him bananas. This past time I saw him I told him, «my princess hair makes me powerful… and he is the power source.» Lol. I would highly recommend Joe. Additionally the salon is both clean and quiet and all the other stylists there are also always warm and pleasant. The prices are very reasonable and well worth the service.

There’s only one reason why I go to this salon and its because of Nelly. I’ve had the pleasure of having Nelly as my hair dresser for over 10 years. I’ve followed her from Paul Brown to Bottega and now Sabrina Fair. She’s the absolute best in the industry and your haircut will look great even after 3 months. She won’t be the cheapest in town but the quality is definitely evident and worth the price. She’s also a master at highlights and lo-lights. She will minimize the amount of damage done to your hair by using the best products available. Her technique and results remind me of what I see in Japanese models. With the different layers in colors, it looks radiant and very natural. Just trust in her and I promise you’ll come out with your hair looking gorgeous. Although I’ve never tried any of the other services here, I’ve always been greeted by the most courteous and friendly staff. They offer coffee or water and have a tiny waiting area in the front. The parking at the Honolulu Club building is really tight and uncomfortable but they fully validate so I can’t complain.

I bought a Groupon Coupon for a mani-pedi back in July and saved it for my gift to me! Should have used it sooner so I could get to know Nicole. I was very pleased with her services and made an appointment for a facial with her in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately for Hawaii she is moving soon to SF. I will miss her, her level of professionalism is superb. And the spa itself is a nice retreat after a hectic weekend.

I can’t believe that no one has reviewed this place!!! I am soooo happy I bought this groupon. I mean I live in Chicago and this could have very poorly for us, but we were pleasantly surprised! I bought two groupons for $ 35 each for a mani-pedi with Nicole Christian. They validate your parking for 2.5 hours, a complimentary drink, and do a callus removal and salt scrub massage which were included in the deal. This was such a great find and Nicole did such a thorough job on the nails. I was able to upgrade it to a french tip with no problems. The pedicure lasted me longer than a month(until I had to get it removed for another pedicure for another event!). She was very gentle with my blisters on the bottom of my feet and I am very ticklish so this ended up very funny for my fiancée and her because I was laughing and giggling the whole time. I would definitely go to Nicole if I lived there because she did such a great job for the manicure and pedicure that I had for the wedding and reception in Hawaii.
