A korean bath house… Everyone was naked but the workers are wearing a panty and bra. It was everything there, a pool, saunas and a jacuzzi which come in your package. It’s a little annoying that the workers only speak Korean and while they’re massaging you they constantly talking but other than that it’s very good.

A personal training client of mine gave me a gift certificate to this place, so I talked my girlfriend into joining me so I didn’t have to go alone. We both got massages, facials & scalp massage w/​shampoo. I’m glad I read the Unilocal reviews before hand so we knew what to expect. The place was clean, massage was decent (not one on one in a room, it’s 6 massage tables in an open area right next to the spa), and we enjoyed all of the spa rooms (jacuzzi, ice bath, steam room, sauna, Himalayan salt sauna & onyx room).In all we spent about 3 hours there. There were only a couple of other people there at a Saturday between 11am-​2pm and that made it more relaxing and enjoyable. After the spa, we ate lunch at the restaurant out front, Ngon. They give you 10% if you went to the spa, which was nice. Food there was great! Overall an enjoyable experience.

After you receive a massage here you will never want to go anywhere else. They necessarily di2t gave the best massage I ever had but all the extra services it makes it worth while.

Really bad customer service. Unfriendly and uncomfortable being a place where you should relax. Do not recommend this place to anyone

I’m writing this to let others know about my BF and my experience. Even though I read the many reviews that did not give this place a chance, we went there last night. The place was dark. We had a scheduled appointment. My BF tried to call the place and even heard the phone ring. We let it ring and no one picked up. The least they could have done was call us to let us know our appointment time needs to be rescheduled. No not a call. No wonder this place has bad reviews or not even an updated review. If they’re going to continue to let customers down they shouldn’t be in business. We took time out of our busy schedules to come and relax and enjoy a spa treatment. The business hours for their opening are false. I don’t think I will give this place a chance and will tell all my friends about it. I don’t think this place even deserves a star for their shady way of getting g customers to come in and not even a call to let us know. Shame on you Herbal Sauna what ever.

So… I finally convince my sister to come to the spa with me but… I didn’t told her about the part where she needs to be naked. Overall its OK. You just have to ask where everything is. When we got there we are clueless. We don’t know where everything is.

Oh boy~ Where to start? I made an appointment for my sister and I to go because she was visiting from the mainland. I liked the idea they close at midnight or later (due to my work schedule) so I booked 2 packages at 8:30pm, for a 2 hours service (Scrub, massage, facial, and hair shampoo) for $ 100.00 each. When I get there at 8:12pm, it is completely dark and the workers were on their way out. They told us they were closing, when their hours are until midnight? (So you definitely need to call before going if you want to just sauna in the evening). I told them that we had an appointment at 8:30pm. I told them I called to make the appointment the day before, and that they called me back right after to reconfirm and asked for the spelling of my name even. So they looked unhappy since they thought they were leaving. and kept asking us multiple times if we really made an appointment. Then I just said, its ok, we will just leave, in a nice way. since mistakes can happen and come back next time. BUT they said no no no they will take us as they were talking amongst themselves if we really made an appointment… So I said multiple times it was ok, but they told me to come in. When I got in, they again asked us if we really made an appointment… and that usually last appointment is at 8:00pm. so it is odd that we have an appointment… … then they rushed us in the bath to soak and the steam room in less then 10 minutes. and then told us to lay down to start the package. Then as I laid down, they KEPT talking about if we booked it or not or who’s mistake it was… it was really annoying and unprofessional to keep talking about it in front of us and blaming us when they clearly made an error. its crazy. how unprofessional they are.
*Oh! The highlight was, you tip them at the end. No matter what I tip 15% always in the service industry. If service is good, then 20+%. SO, I tipped 15% and the older lady was like not $ 20? we usually get $ 20 for tip… o_​O!!! no face/​no shame at all…
a) they forgot about our appointment
b) they wouldn’t stop complaining to us about who’s fault this situation was the whole time.
c) we were rushed out of there so we couldn’t enjoy the facility at all… they were cleaning and turning off lights…
I was about to take my 15% away, but instead, I am writing this review.
1) If you are looking for customer service, you are not going to find it here. These are older women with no face. seriously.
2) 1 star because they did scrub well.
3) advice is to book scrub only if you go, not massage package since the massage is not the regular massage you would get at a massage place. I don’t think these ladies have a degree or studied massage ever.
4) Facial was baby lotion on your face + cucumbers and rub their hands here and there on your face.

I’ve been to many nude spas but this situation is odd. Strange setting. You get naked on the other side of the restaurant. Facilities are filthy. Spa wasn’t even open, they turned all the water on when I arrived. One star for the body scrub, otherwise: DIRTY.

This place is located on Kawaiahao Street off of Ward! It has two sides, a men’s and women’s area. They are separated.
Here’s the thing. This is a Korean spa — people are naked. Don’t go in expecting otherwise. My friend took me, insisting this was a cool place and it’s a good experience. So she got us groupons and off we went. I was only a little bit apprehensive but was game for it. She drove us there, told me the Vietnamese restaurant outside (Ngon) was really good (though to this day, I’ve been to the spa 4x and still never tried Ngon), and got us checked in. We went to the locker rooms, where we stripped and put on our robes. We showered to clean off and tried the steam room first. We were out of there within 3 minutes. I might have been able to hold out for a couple more minutes but both of us are steam room newbies.
We then proceeded to the salt room sauna. IT WAS MAGICAL. It was super relaxing and nice and warm. Not too hot — perfect temperature. We were lying down on the rocks (there’s a «tarp») and just staring at the ceiling, relaxing, while we «talked story» and caught up on our life dramas. Since I hardly see her since she’s had a baby, this was a great time. We then proceeded to the warm jacuzzi! Nice soak and then I ended with a soak in the ice cold water pool. It was SO MISERABLE BUT SO REFRESHING.
Since then, I’ve introduced my BFF to this and she loves it. She’s German and says in Germany, they have similar places except they are coed! We have been back 3x since and it’s a great time to just chill and get quiet time. We have not yet gotten a body scrub but it is on our list to try at some point! :) We tried all the saunas eventually but our favorite is still the himalayan salt room. We recently came here after an afternoon of high tea and thrift shopping and spent oodles of time in the warm jacuzzi just soaking :).
I recommend this 100% but don’t expect the service to be superb or special — it is what it is!

Ignore all the reviews that say this place is sanitary– it is not!!! The women’s bathroom in the spa/​sauna area was unsatisfactory: they purposely made it unable to close AND there was no soap or hand towels by the sink.
The workers at the spa were not friendly, welcoming or helpful. They were also not concerned with modesty at all. I’m not a super conservative person, but can we please close the door for the changing area?!
They advertise 2 sauna areas, which was not available for the women, but I know the men got 2 sauna areas. the one sauna I had access to was the only nice part of the experience.

I’ve been dying to come back here ever since my first visit ! Came on a weekday and it was very quiet. One of the pools was not working, but having access to all the saunas was incredible. After spending a lot of time in those, I was given a facial and hair wash. Korean lady was a little bit rough with my hair but effective. Bright lights overhead weren’t the most relaxing either, but the facial felt amazing. After showering down, I spent time in the salt sauna room which was so relaxing and rejuvenating. This is a fun experience, you definitely need to be comfortable in your own skin because you are naked most of the time. It may not seem like the most high end spa, but I think most people could agree that you will leave feeling amazing. Refreshed and relaxed.

I love this place! The spa is immaculate and my skin and body feels amazing! This is the best massage I have ever had, I will do this once a month for the rest of my life

Its too early to give the stars but I am looking forward to going and trying this spa. I have been going to these spas around the country and I look forward to the experience in place that has been recommended to me by the locals. One has to understand the Asian culture and then one will understand the Asian spas. The hard work the ladies dedicate to your body certainly deserves a good tip. To an average mainlander who is not experienced in Asian culture, this place may not be for you. The care of the human body is about the body, and not about comparing a very expensive spa ambiance like the Four Seasons. Its all about your mind and body, being cared for. Take a walk in the wild side of the world of comfort and change… then this place may be for you.

Where to start:
This spa is not for the first timer or the self conscious. No shared spa experience either: both men and women are in separate facilities. Or so I thought. My husband and I got a massage at the same time, but were told to go to our separate facilities once we checked in. It wasn’t until after the massage I found out from him that there was a lady (a customer, not someone who worked there) in the men’s area… hmmmm. Strange. During the visit, I got the massage, facial and scrub package for $ 100 which I thought was a deal.
Basically at no point did I feel relaxed here. No music. Sections separated by PVC pipes. A pet cat even got kicked intentionally by one of the ladies who worked there!!! I’ve been to over 50 different massage parlors (from the Four Seasons to Massage Envy) and I have felt like I’ve seen it all. Wrong. This place is something else. I was told to strip down to be completely naked and naked customers were everywhere around me, doors were slamming, etc. I won’t forget the bright these-aren’t-supposed-to-be-in-a-spa fluorescent lights that were beaming down on my face the whole time during the «massage». The «massage» I received was on a table that reminds me of one that you would see at a dog grooming office, where it’s flat and covered in plastic and doesn’t have a head area to put your face through so your nose doesn’t slam into the table. Additionally, the tables are out in the open, side by side, so you could very well be getting a «massage» scrub down next to another naked person. It was like an open bay. No privacy. The scrub given here was the most unique scrub experience I had ever have… not so much in a good way, though I felt like a shiny penny after… but maybe because I lost half of my skin cells during the rub down. My masseuse took her job very seriously and left no part unscrubbed. It was far too rough and I don’t think they used a special «spa» sponge or «spa» soap for it… it felt like they used a kitchen soap and heavy duty blue sponge on me… not a good feeling. The massage was supposedly integrated somewhere in that experience, though, I still can’t pinpoint it to this day. It was 95% all scrub, no massage.
The facial was probably the only good part of the experience. However, this is not your typical facial spa experience if you’ve had one before. No steam machine beaming on your face, no special arm and neck massage, no extractions, no clarisonic brush… just a cucumber face mask put on my face for about 10 minutes, no massage, followed by a rinsing with warm milk (?). Still not sure if it was watered down milk or yogurt.
I appreciate new experiences but this one takes the cake. I can confirm that they do have decent spa facilities (steam room, hot tub, salt room). I would definitely not recommend this place to any shy persons or spa first timers and quite frankly, because they kicked a pet cat right in front of me! Are you serious?! And yes, there was a cat in the locker room of the spa. He was warming up to me and appreciated me petting him until one of the ladies there saw he was inside and literally kicked him out. I knew I should have said something then and there. Poor animal, just looking for compassion.
Additionally, the language barrier at this spa didn’t help either (primary language is not English for all workers here): I had a wound on my foot that was healing and prior to my massage, I clearly communicated (even used sign language to point to my wound) to my masseuse that I did not want a scrub anywhere in that particular area. She nodded and kept scrubbing. What happened? Oh, I got a salty sponge scrub over my wound anyways. She didn’t realize what she had done until I grimaced in pain. It was awful. I know she didn’t mean it but again… the language barrier was a factor in that happening.
The next thing that was truly awful about my experience was the way the front desk lady confronted me about leaving a larger-​than-​I-​was-​comfortable-​with, tip. I planned to leave a 15% upon leaving just because I’m a nice person. I thoroughly believe a tip should be based on merit of service and the overall experience. She made me feel very uncomfortable when she rudely peered over my receipt as I’m writing in the tip amount and responded to my tip amount saying, «you need to leave a 20−25% tip». Um– Is this happening? Are you really staring over me like a hawk while I leave you your tip? Again, a true spa and their personnel wouldn’t be rude enough to just blatantly say that to the customer. Very. rude. She didn’t even ask me if there was something they can improve about the experience. All she worried about was the money and wanted a lot of it.
The whole situation and experience was just… awkward. I would just warn everyone who comes here that this is not your typical spa experience. And they kick cats — Animal cruelty should not be tolerated. Simply awful! Will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone

I have been wanting to go here for months now, and this was just what I needed to relief some serious stress and recharge my batteries. As everyone else has stated, you have to be comfortable in your own skin to go to this spa since that’s all you’ll be wearing! They do provide robes and towels, but if you plan on getting the exfoliation, into the whirlpool, or a massage, be ready to bear it all.
I got the full service treatment with the sauna, spa, massage, facial, and shampoo. I can’t say a negative thing about the entire experience. Loved the milk bath at the end, my skin hasn’t felt this soft and supple in a very long time!

Adventures with the best friend have struck again! This time, she FINALLY convinced me to get naked with her!
No really.
She has been dying to treat me to the Korean spa for months now, and the entire time my main hesitation has been of seeing my best friend naked. Like, full on, get naked, go take a shower, and soak in the hot tub NAKED. I think that takes the friendship to a whole new level don’t you think? And I wasn’t ready for that.
Anyway, this weekend I was chest deep in lesson planning and other school work, that I finally agreed to go to the Korean spa with her. I figured it would clear my mind for a bit. Her fiancé tagged along as well, which is why my boyfriend also came along, and it was sort of a double date.
There are two separate buildings. One for men, and one for women. It’s kind of nice, and it makes us women feel very safe. Before the boys left though, they were each given two swim trunks each, and were asked to keep them on the entire time. No funny business! Then off they went, and we didn’t see each other again until after three hours of bliss.
First things first: they hand you a basket with some towels and a robe. Then they show you to your locker and hand you your key, which you keep attached to your wrist.
Then…you strip.
After that, you can take a shower and head to the hot and cold dip. I didn’t get to try the cold dip, but the hot dip was very warm and relaxing. It was a great way to soften my skin and open up my pores. Then this little lady walked over and motioned that we follow her toward the area where all the beds are. Then they put on their little scratchy mitts, and they started REALLY scrubbing us down. Like EVERY part of my body got scrubbed, and it was crazy seeing all that dead skin come off!
After she was done scrubbing me, she told me to go shower to rinse off, then come back for a massage. The massage was magical. Usually, when I go to a spa, I generally have to circle on the form where I am feeling tension, or the masseuse would have to ask me. Nope. This little lady seemed to know exactly where my tension was, and she really worked at those spots to get it out! Then she WALKED ON MY BACK! Woah! It was so cool, and it really felt great!
Finally, they put a cucumber mask on my face, WASHED MY HAIR, and after all that was done, sent me on my way to enjoy the steam room and their THREE SAUNAS. Three!
My favorite sauna is the Himalayan salt room. I could’ve stayed in there all night. Afterward, I felt uncontrollably happy, and I think it was something in the salt that sort of reset everything in my body. Stress? What stress?
I’m totally addicted to Korean spas now, because for the price of around $ 100, you get such an AMAZING deal! Body scrub, facial, massage, hair wash, AND you get to use all the amenities of the place. Seriously, I think I found my new oasis.
Oh, and my final star is being held back because my boyfriend said that nothing was really working on the men’s side. The saunas weren’t even turned on, and the hot dip was just lukewarm. The only thing that worked apparently was the cold dip which was ICE cold. Maybe next time we will all call ahead several hours to make an appointment in order to give them some time to get everything ready. Otherwise, this is a GREAT place.
Go, get naked, be one with yourself, and TREAT YO’ SELF!

I frequent many Korean Saunas on the Mainland, when I heard that Honolulu had one I did some research and chose Herbal Spa mainly because it had a men’s side for my husband to go to while I got a scrub.
Let me start by saying that the scrub and the massage portion of my visit were top notch. I had to cut the cucumber facial out and shorten my massage because I had a plane to catch and you really need at least 3 hours to do it all. I had 2.5 hours in the spa.
The facility is ok. It’s showing some wear and tear and they did not have all the great shower gel, shampoo and conditioner one can find in Mainland Korean spas. In fact, I was a bit turned off by the bar soap as opposed to gel, with many people using the bar soap, but hey, it wasn’t that scary.
The hot tub could have been hotter. The steam room was awesome and I did not have time to use the Himalayan Salt or Jade sauna. But some ladies there told me they loved the salt room.
The spa is funky and shares space with a Viet Namese restaurant, which is tricky when trying to get to the salt room. The restaurant was awesome, but that’s another review.
Overall, the workers were all friendly and helpful, genuinely interested if I was having a good experience and the scrub and massage would definitely bring me back.
Not for the trendy spa type person, but most definitely for someone who knows a thing or two about Korean bath culture.

I have been to a nice Korean bath house in Dallas and this one is definitely a lot smaller but also still pretty good. I already expected to go in naked and since I’m half korean, she was able to speak to me in Korean since I know they don’t speak English well. I tipped them $ 12 up front because I wanted to see how it would be, but by the time I left, I felt so amazing that I had to tip them more… They scrub you clean and if you aren’t comfortable with being naked or having someone clean you, well that’s authentic Korean tradition… They have the sit down showers too so I definitely felt like this was traditional style. When you first get there, they make you shower and sit in the hot tub and sauna before your massage/​bath scrub… which ends up being around 2 hours or more by the time that they are through cleaning you. You pretty much lay on a bed and they clean you, throw warm water on you to rinse you, and scrub you down with this salt scrub… where you will see all of your dead skin on the table afterwards… they also give you more of the pressure point type of massage where they push down hard on the pressure points to relieve your pain. The lady also gave me a cucumber facial, scalp massage where she also shampoo/​conditioned my hair. and poured me a milk oil on me… I loved it. The staff ladies are older and dressed in bra and panties… Also I didn’t know that there were other salt/​sauna rooms but the ones that were in the shower area until I was omw out… but next time I will try those too. Overall, it was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for… except I wanted some korean food and they serve Vietnamese food. I was happy, refreshed, and smiling when I left!
They provide towels, locker, robe for you… they even have hair brushes & hair dryers as well as qtips so the only thing I would say is to wear flip flops. Makes it much easier to put on to go to the other sauna rooms!

This place is nice for an evening of relaxation. I’ve been twice. Once by myself and once with a bunch of my guy friends. Both times were pretty enjoyable. The wooden interior is a nice touch for the aesthetic of it all and I really appreciate the Himalayan salt sauna. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, though they have a little bit of a difficulty speaking English sometimes. But that’s not really a problem. They’re sweet.
The thing is that compared to some of the ones out in LA, where I’ve been living recently, it’s not really all that. First, the price is quite exorbitant. It’s $ 30 for the basic admission. They also seem to really want you to get a body scrub, which while I’m sure is very nice, would hike the price up to $ 60. The basic admission out in LA is about $ 20.
For the guys section, which is pretty new, you have to wear shorts. In a Korean bath house like this, that’s pretty rare. Usually you have to be completely naked for this type of place. I figure it’s due to the fact that the staff seems to only be made up of women, and so it would be inappropriate to have that sort of thing, but part of the freeing relaxation is in being completely naked, and that seems to be the norm over on the women’s side based off of the other reviews.
Overall, I enjoy spending some time here, especially with friends. It’s a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The tubs could use a bit more fine tuning for the temperature, but it’s not worth any complaining about. At least they don’t reek of chlorine. If another place like this opens I’ll probably check them out, but for the time being, I’ll continue hitting up this one.
