Rix Island Wear

The other day while I was drinking some coffee at the Starbucks in Kahala Mall, I noticed a few doors down there was cool Aloha Shirt hanging from the store front window.
I was diggin’ that shirt, as it really caught my eye… so last night I went back to Kahala Mall to stop by — Rix Island Wear.
I’ve seen a few people wear this brand of shirt… and I suppose it’s nice to have something different, aside from the standard Hawaiian business attire of the Reyn Spooner Hawaiian shirt.
Rix Island Wear is a small store in Kahala Mall, but I believe they have four other stores located at Ward Village, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort, Pearlridge Center, & the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
I loved the design selection available at this store, and I must say some of the designs were pretty bold in color, & print.
There was only one clerk working when I walked into the shop last night, but I must say he was very helpful in addressing my questions & needs.
Prices of the Rix Island Wear Hawaiian shirts were very reasonable at about $ 62.00 (with tax), vs. the Reyn Spooner which I buy for around $ 100.00.
The best thing about Rix Island Wear is that all shirts are Hawaiian! All shirts are designed, & sewn right here in Hawaii!

My work requires me to wear Aloha shirts, and my favorite brand is Rix Island. Now, it is not normal for me to wear big, bright colors with such bold designs. With that being said, there is something special about Rix. The shirts are extremely comfortable, and the designs are unique. It is also nice that they are priced to be affordable to buy 2 to 3 shirts at a time.
Great customer service… friendly and helpful. I like that the employees I’ve met wear the shirts and really seem to get excited about the designs.

Rix Island where is a small store with a helpful and friendly staff that will help you pick out the best outfit your money can buy. Not a lot of designs as of yet as they are just starting, but running into someone with the same shirt is not embarrassing, But more of a connection. Expanding their line constantly will help running into people with the same prints. The quality of their shirts is above all. owned by Rick Ralston his attention to detail, quality, customer service and satisfaction is always attractive. I worked for him at a previous business as is one of the best people to work for so the staff is always happy and willingto help you with whatever you need.

Men working downtown (or most professional work settings) will inevitably need to build their arsenal of aloha shirts. It is synonymous with the professional crowd and heck it even has a day of the week dedicated to it every week of every year! Well, for the young (er) or up and coming professional, you are confronted with a daunting task. The traditional styles aren’t exactly flattering to a slim body, and the faded print look is classic but the prints will likely be plastered with scrolls and colors that your grandfather would wear…
Not that there is anything wrong with that…
Enter the equation: RIX. Yes Rix. That tiny store in Kahala Mall near Jamba Juice that has bold patterns and colors that could scare away your uncle but entice you with its form flattering styles that make it easier to wear to that lunch and to that casual date after work.
The patterns are bold but modern. Whether you want something more colorful or subdued, something traditional or something more hip, the patterns and colors work while still staying «I’m the man…»
Prices are pretty reasonable for aloha shirts and cheaper than its Kahala or Reyn counterparts, but beware the style can fade a little quicker as well… but at the price, does it really matter?
Service is good and I’ve had several people there help me over the years and needless to say, they were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Honest with their opinion and really made you feel like family.
Is it for the older generations, probably not. But for the generation X or Y man, Rix will have something for you.

Liked this store from the outside and even more as I entered the inside. The colors are soft and subtle. The prints familiar yet uniquely interesting and most of all definitely not load and touristy (even though there were a few on hand, I was told «to satisfy a select few») .
The Island style wear fits my taste of comfortable and casual attire and can even be worn at some more prominent events like weddings (at least here in the Islands) may have to think about wearing one on my next visit to NYC.
The sales person, Ranger is well versed and full of Aloha… a must have when your core product is «Aloha» attire. Ranger also informed me of some up coming events in October that I’m looking forward to. The store being small makes it easy to shop without being overwhelmed with too many choices. And the prices are well within reason.
I’m definitely gonna get in on some of this cool Island wear after I’m done here at the mall. Need to update some of my aging wardrobe that has long been overlooked.

Hubby likes their selection of Aloha shirts. Prices are pretty reasonable, only thing is he doesn’t like the rather large label. If it’s on a black and white print shirt it’s ok, but on any other color shirt the label sticks out like a sore thumb.
