GNC General Nutrition Center

I appreciate the friendly greeting I always get when coming to this GNC Branch. When coming to GNC Kahala which is close to home I usually come to pick up Mega Men Vitapak, Proteins and other workout supplements. I like that they have different Vitapaks for specific needs and takes away from buy multiple bottles of vitamins. My favorite protein that they carry is Promasil, it’s a lean protein, gluten free, no Carbs, which I use in the Morning and Evenings
I love that:

They always seem to have what I need!

I need a little more protein in my diet, so when hubs and I were at Kahala Mall, we stopped in at GNC. I picked out the brand I wanted, went to the counter and paid for it, and that was that – except…
We were helped by Daira who was INCREDIBLY helpful. I didn’t realize that the protein powder I had picked out actually helped people gain weight! I was like, OMG, I don’t think so! :)
She not only recommended an alternate, but explained the different things about it that made it a really good alternative. Hubs and I were just blown away by how really nice she was – when so many other people would just ring up an order and send you on your way – as well as KNOWLEDGEABLE and has a heart to help people get what they really want/​need (not just what they think they want/​need).
Turns out Daira is the Store Manager. I think GNC’s lucky to have her. :)

Expensive & staff tend to push to sell

Unilocal needs to make ½ point marks.
Kahala location is convenient for me. I can buy grocceries at whole food, my books at barnes and nobles, vitamins and whey powders at GNC.
The manager here is great. He’s a cool guy who is well informed about the products they sell.
I’m glad they cleaned up the store. Last time I went there were so many tags on the counter. I wish the aisles were bigger. When I come in after the gym I’m always afraid my gym bag is gonna take out a whole row of candy bars.
Bottom line: Great staff. Availability of items is good (except once they didn’t have SAM-​E; if you’re looking for it either Whole Foods or Longs has it), and the price is reasonable in my opinion.
Get the gold card!

I frequent the Kahala or Hawaii Kai location. I like both locations equally, staff are pretty knowledgeable in assisting or if they don’t know they will ask other team members or look it up.
I go there to pick up vitamins, protein and the lastest supplements that Dr. Oz (yes, I admit it) recommends. Store is clean, shelves well stocked. And if it’s not on the shelf you can get it shipped to your house (free shipping). I purchase supplements from here because it doesn’t sit on the shelf like other stores/​pharmacies.
TIP: BOGO half off days save $$ along with the Gold card.

Found what I was looking for with the help of a worker. She also was knowledgeable and suggested a product.

Tucked in the Kahala Mall complex, this GNC store is nearby the theaters and what’s now Kuru Kuru Sushi. The store is immaculate as they come. They had most things not in lock and key, so that was a plus. I guess. GNC caters to body builders, so you would see all those gigantic bottles of protein power and associated product stacked neatly in the back, while the vitamins and daily supplements are more in the front in the store. The «diet» items aka the fast acting fat burners are on the shelf on your left as you enter the store — these items are under lock and key.
The staff are very polite and ask whether or not you need to find a particular product. I normally reply «Just browsing», as most of the time I am looking for the newest and awesomest product to supplement into my diet. While I know most people do like the quick fix, it does take a lot of time and a lot of discipline to get to your goals. One pill won’t do it all for you, but it does help — if you do all the right things. I was a body builder before, so I come here for most of my whey protein products, until I started to hit up Vitamin World for cheaper pricing. Now, since I am a marathon junkie, I just come here for the fat burners and muti-​vitamins. Lately, I bought a bottle of fish oil supplements, since I wasn’t eating enough fish.
The staff is knowledgeable in what you are trying to achieve. I overheard this lady to dropped 40 lbs and was on a plateau. She asked one of the 2 sales reps in the store on what should she take. She spilled out her diet and exercise habits, and he recommended some stuff for her to take. Sometimes, they are honest in what they sell and say, but others, they just like to push product just to make a few $$. Not GNC, they know their stuff. Nowadays, I buy my stuff online, since sometimes it’s comparable or even cheaper there. But of course, having to buy it the same day is sometimes better than saving money, but having to wait for it to arrive. Give and take I guess.

I like this specific store because it’s clean and organized and it’s in the middle of the mall so I don’t have to trek out to some random shopping center to get more vitamins.
I forgot the guy’s name but whoever was working today (Thursday) knew his stuff. He helped me find the best vitamins for my goals and explained to me why I shouldn’t get a product I was dead set on getting and suggested something better and cheaper.
I’ve never gone to this location and left finding out that an item is out of stock and I appreciate that because nothing irritates me more than getting psyched up to get something and then go to a store and have them be out of stock.
My brother gets all of his supplements and shakes from this location too because the one he used to go to was always sold out.
Thus far, this is my favorite GNC location.
