It’s been there for YEARS and it was never good! Three times I subjected by body to Pineland. Flabby meats, goopy sauces, grease and salt intake off the scale, and a brobdingnagian use of MSG. It is *filthy*(my friend found a roach in her lunch once –blech), hard to find parking, and the service was borderline rude. With so many awesome Chinese restaurants in Honolulu, why Pineland? Skip it!

Theres only 2 reasons why I order food from Pineland. 1. Since I am not a local, its hard for me to get around and find chinese food that is remotely close to the taste I’m looking for. 2. Its close by Sadly, 2 stars is the best I can give them as the food isn’t the best and the selection isn’t the best and lastly the food is so greasy that I can feel it going through my intestines. But until I get my own car in Honolulu, I will have to make do when I do not feel like cooking… I should really just cook…

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants ever. This place looks a little shifty at first but don’t be fooled. Be sure to try the hot and sour soup if you like it as the do it well here. The cashew chicken is also very good. If they are still doing things the same as when I was last there, you get a single ice cube for your small glass of water. Always found that funny. But the food is cheap and very good for a quick bite.

Ok, Pineland is a little rough around the edges — well, around the inside, too. The ambience is lacking for sure, and the dining room could use a good clean. The food is, however, text book traditional Chinese and is superb. If you’ve only ever eaten American-Chinese food you will be unmoved by Pineland and will most likely leave a 1-star rating and use intense adjectives to describe your experience. You will not find a drop of shoyu in the house(the food doesn’t need it), the owners cook and serve the food and will be most helpful if you inquire for help. Specifically try the hot-and-sour soup and the garlic shrimp. If you want Chinese food, this is by far the best you’ll find in Hawaii — just don’t expect Americanized interpretations of Chinese food.

One word: Yuk. Disgusting atmosphere, owner rarely turns on the power, dishes might as well be from frozen. Save your time and money and take it elsewhere. I saw the other review mention it was«Best Restaurant» but surely it must be another place with a similar name.

How this place always manages to get a good writeup in the paper is totally beyond me. It is even listed every year in that Best Restaurants booklet thingie that comes in the paper. What!!! The critics celebrate it as a hole-in-the-wall, but think of it in the worse sense of the word. It is dark and dirty inside and the staff is rude at worst and unpersonable at best. The Americanized Chinese food is greasy and everything tastes the same, covered in dark soy sauce. This is not Chinese food! This is not good food!
