Do NOT go here IF YOU CARE about your item to be repaired. I called first to see if he could repair a zipper that slipped out of the teeth (but in great condition) of a stroller I own. He said yes and then just hung up before I could say anything else. That should have been a warning. When I brought in my stroller zipper to be repaired (or to be put back on track and reinforced), he started to look at it but then took 3 other customers that came in after me to assist them first. After 25 minutes, he started to work on the zipper, by shredding and cutting the ends of the zipper. I was concerned because, it was just off it’s track but not torn yet. He then cut, pried and ripped the zipper ends apart. I have no idea why he would do that because even I could tell that it would do no good, but only damage it. After destroying it, he said he could not fix it. I asked if he could replace the zipper now, since he ripped it so it was now not able to be put on track. He said he didn’t know where to find that kind of zipper. So now I am left with a $ 300 stroller with the zipper totally busted. He didn’t even apologize. I told him I wasn’t very happy that if he didn’t think he could have fixed it then he shouldn’t have damaged it more. He said «I’m lucky that he didn’t charge me for his time to look at it».

I just brought my leather purse to the shop and needed to have the crossbody strap shortened and he did a great job. The strap looks just like I bought it, he made it shorter on both ends perfectly.
I got to the shop at 5.45pm and he did the work while I was waiting so I didn’t need to come back a second time. He was also really friendly.
Couldn’t have asked for a better result! I can definitely recommend the place.

I also was very disappointed by the cost and (lack of) quality on recent handbag repair work done for me. :-(I will not be going back.

He wanted to charge me more that the shoes were worth. $ 36 to repair 2 pair slippers. You can barely get in the shop as there is so much junk. And it is so hot inside. it’s worth going just to see the junk.

The shoemaker guy is pretty quick. He’ll work on your shoes while you wait… he doesn’t speak that much English but it works. I like that he is close by and it doesn’t take that long to get your shoes back.

The only thing I had to get done was have two new holes punched into my belt. Overall his work was ok, he did make the holes kind of crooked but at least it was just a cheap belt. If it was an expensive belt, I’d be pissed. He charged $ 1 per hole punched the first time.
Today, I went the second time, I went to get some more holes punched into the same belt after losing weight. This time he charged me $ 3 for two holes, but still cheap! I recommend marking the belt instead of letting him mark it. Just press the metal hook into the leather and make an imprint. The first time when i let him do it, he made it crooked but when I marked it for him its just perfect and not crooked. I will definitely be coming back to him if I need more holes punched. He is super fast and he dropped what he was doing to assist me (because punching holes in a belt is super easy).
I also suggest calling him before going in there. Sometimes he’s not in the shop.

I was sadly disappointed with my experience here. I took in three bags and one pair of shoes for repair. I was told to come back Saturday but one bag was not done – I’ve been back three times to attempt to get my bag since they called and each time the store was closed during work hours. I called the cell number on the door and it was always «we’re not opening until later today, come back then.» The sign says 8:30am and I was there 9:30am.
For the items that were ready for pick up, I wasn’t very pleased with the repairs. The shoe was repaired but there was glue dripped all over the fabric on the heel, the cost was $ 17. One bag the strap was to be restitched – he told me he’d have to cut the strap (because it was fraying) and open the side to restitch. I got charged $ 20! The bag is a gym bag that only cost $ 25! The other bag had a handle that was ripping. He told me he would reinforce it with material on the inside and restitch it to provide support. It is the ugliest repair job I ever saw… and to the best of my knowledge he didn’t reinforce it. This repair was $ 7. For each of the items he told me he couldn’t give me a price quote because he had to confer with his dad, so it doesn’t leave you much choice other than to show up for the surprise of your life.
I think they are over priced and the repairs are unprofessional. Take a look at the pictures and you can decide for yourself. They really need to write things down so that they do the repair as promised. If you can’t do the job, be honest and tell the customer that you can’t do the job.

His service is going downhill. I took in a pair of shoes to repair. He said it was repaired. When I got home, the shoe fell apart. I took in another pair of heels to repair. He recommended that the leather that was coming off the heel also be repaired in addition to the heel. I said okay. He charged quite a bit for it. I get my shoe back and what does he do? He cut off half of the heel and attached a black plastic heel to the shoe rather than wrap and repair the leather. Ruined my shoe and made it look cheap!!! Mind you, the bottom of my shoe, the soles, are nude. He adds this black plastic heel so half of my heel is now nude, and then the remainder is a black plastic tip. Not going back to Mr. Kim.

Read the reviews and decided it was worth a shot to salvage a pair of my favorite heels. The heel itself was down to the metal on both shoes, and Mr. Kim suggested that I replace the soles too. It cost $ 30 (cash only) and I even though I thought that was a bit overpriced, I was very pleased with the results. The $ 30 to replace a beloved pair of heels that I wear regularly was worth it to me, but may not be for others, as you could just put that cash towards a new pair if you wanted. Some shoes though, just can’t be replaced!

Mr. Kim (Jr.) is my hero. Get the guy a cape and unitard.
I needed a second key for my car and bought a shell and transponder from amazon (approximately $ 100). I struggled to find someone to cut my key. I took it to a guy to get it cut ($ 25) and then got REALLY stuck while programming it. Even when I got it programmed, the key wouldn’t start my car. I finally brought it to Mr. Kim who magically figured it out and with $ 30, my problems were solved.
Well. If I was a better daughter, I would have listened to my mother and gone to Mr. Kim from the start. He charged her $ 45 for the ENTIRE thing… key and transponder, cut and program. Oh the wonderful things I could have done with the $ 125 I could have saved.
On a separate occurrence, my remote stopped working and since it’s so much smarter and fancier than I am there is no screw so I couldn’t replace the battery myself. I called Mr. Kim (Jr.) and he did some magic trick to get it open, replaced my battery and charged $ 5. Can you believe that? All my friends were trying to scare me and tell me that «it’s gonna cost you hundreds of dollars…» Those Chicken Littles!
On yet a separate occurrence, Mr. Kim (Sr.) AKA the marathon guru fixed my wallet. The stitching and leather was coming apart and within 24 hours turned that baby around. Now I can’t say it’s the nicest fix I’ve seen but he saved me hundreds from buying a new wallet.

I was in need of a new beach backpack and I found the perfect one at Goodwill. The bag itself was so perfect, that I did not think to check the rest of the bag. Well, once I got home, I noticed the nylon straps were basically disintegrating. But I fell in love with the type of bag and I thought I could somehow fix it myself. Yeah right. So, I took the backpack to Mr. Kim. He was very friendly and he really loved my 1 year old. He looked at the bag and gave me an estimate. He told me that I could come to pick it up the next day, which happened to be the 4^th of July. I double checked that he would be open, and he said yes.
Well, he wasn’t open when I came (for some reason, I didn’t think to call ahead) and it ended up taking a few more days. Mr. Kim is not very good on the phone and he hung up on me a few times. The repairs also cost more than the estimate, but he did not call me to let me know that. For this reason, I am only giving 4 stars and wish I could give it 4.5.
However, the repairs that he made are EXCELLENT. That bag is now practically brand new and will likely last me forever. Even though I did end up paying more than I had anticipated, I think it is absolutely worth it for the kind of work he did.
It might take a little bit of patience to deal with Mr. Kim, but the work he does is great. Be aware that he accepts CASH only.

On a recent trip, the airline broke the zipper on our new Samsonite luggage. Unfortunately, it wasn’t covered by warranty, so we were happy to find this place to repair it.
$ 20 to put a new zipper on and we didn’t have to waste our perfectly good luggage otherwise. It took him a few days to get to it. But the owner is really nice. And there’s not too many reputable places for this kind of work any more.
I’d recommend this place to my friends.

Mr. Kim at Keeaumoku Shoe N’baggage Repair & Locksmith will provide 1 or 2 day excellent shoe repair for a great price. He repaired the heels of 2 pairs of ladies shoes for $ 8 & $ 10 with fast & friendly service. He even cleaned the inside of the shoe for no additional charge.
Once when picking up, his store was locked during business hours around dinner time so I called his cell as instructed (see picture) and he came down from his home in the back in about 2 minutes to help us.

My original Lexus key was held together with transparent tape for months before I found this place. The dealership quoted me $ 300 JUST to cut the key (the microchip pack was still working). I opted to purchase an uncut key from
and Mr. Kim made me a new key within minutes!
Make sure you call to make an appointment as there is a specific person who specializes in cutting Lexus keys. I made the mistake of making an impromptu visit and had to go the following day.
I was really impressed with this store. I saved a heap of money and will definitely try out their other services.
NOTE: It takes a while for the car system to recognize the new key, so give it some time. While it fit just fine, the key wouldn’t turn!
I was a hot mess, hovering over my steering wheel as I contemplated calling AAA. I immediately went into panic mode, but Mr. Kim was so gracious to help me break in the new key.
*** Be patient and try turning the key while turning the steering wheel forcefully to both sides. Make sure to also acquaint your key to other keyholes like your door, glove compartment and trunk.
I know this all sounds like a lot, but hey, the Lexus dealership will gladly spare you the embarrassment in exchange for $ 300 and a string of «suggested maintenance».

Recently took my bf’s Gucci loafers which were on their last legs for new soles. Mr. Kim did a fabulous job. I had a tough time finding the place and calling didn’t help since he does not speak English very well, but once I got past that, and actually found the place, he did an excellent job reviving nearly dead expensive shoes!

Recently took some luggage for repair. Mr Kim did an outstanding job and we couldn’t be happier.
I can’t figure out the couple of negative reviews when I always have a positive experience.

Trivia!!! Mr. Kim, proprietor of Keaaumoku Shoe N’baggage repair is an athlete who runs the Marathon annually. Places almost to the top in his class in the Marathon… does not only Honolulu but ran the San Francisco Marathon also. In between training for the Marathon he services many who stop in at this shop for shoe and luggage repair, keys, remotes, etc.
Mr. Kim took my order and promised it to me in a few days. Not only did he do a timely job; he did a GREAT job and it is definitely priced right.
Parking may be a problem depending but you could turn right onto Kinau and find street parking… that’s what I did and it works.
Plan to have a nice chat with Mr. Kim when you are dropping off and picking up. He’s so personable you can’t help but to chat… Hey! That’s how I learned about his doing the Marathon. ok, he had some pictures posted too… He’s personable! Like you knew him for a long time!

Sometimes I forget that Unilocal reviews are not always about food. Excellence in business should be recognized in all it’s shapes and services. Today was such a day when I went to pick up my new dog collar that I had bought on eBay.
The genius that I am, I failed to measure my dog’s neck and instead did a Buy it Now for an XL black leather collar which touted to fit a Great Dane. You try seeing a rottweiler in the yard at night and you will know why I needed such a reflective collar. It was very inexpensive.
When I got home, this 26″ mighty collar did not go around my dog’s 30″ neck. Undaunted, I went to the tried and true Unilocal help and found that my favorite locksmith also does shoe, leather, luggage repair. He also, I discovered does knife sharpening, so for this alone, I’ll be back.
I took in my beautiful collar, the owner who has always been fast and efficient, took one look at it and said, «Oh, I can do. Maybe you pick up Tuesday.» (It was on Friday.” I told him sure! $ 15.00 added to my cost of collar wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t exactly eBay but it wasn’t a, «forced to return item» either!
That night at 6 (the same night) he called to say it was ready. I guess he had the proper leather that matched and was able to work on it asap. I told him I would have to come back the next day.
Today, at around lunch time I went by with my $ 15.00 and lo and behold, a beautifully matched repair with the same dimensions exactly and the same color thread for the repair. The additional leather had been sliced thinly so as not bulk the collar and was perfectly trimmed on both the original collar and the additional collar to match PERFECTLY. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.
I reviewing this at a friend’s house but I’m trying it on my dog tonight in the dark to see it at it’s best. It does fit him perfectly, as this wise gentleman advised that I make allowances for error and for the doggie’s growth. (Yes, he’s still growing.) I know that it will be a perfect fit if the dog gains weight or loses weight, (yeah, fat chance of that!)
This man has cut keys so perfectly for me in the past for my business and for my home and I would go to no other place. Even Sears cut some ill fitting keys for me and when I took them back to complain, the worker said that the woman who cut them was the owner of the kiosk but was not a locksmith. She even used the wrong blank. Those things irk because it’s time and money we’re talking about.
So all in all was the collar a cheap eBay one? Not exactly. But it saved me the hassle of a mail back, contacting the vendor and waiting for a new collar. I am sold on this business.
Please read all of his 5 star ratings and you’ll agree with me. I didn’t know this man up until he did my keys and my nephew’s re-​keying of his condo door. They are not the most spiffy or beautiful store I’ve ever been to but quality is what I want and quality is what I always get with Mr. Kim.
PS I saw that this elder gentleman has run and completed 5 marathons. OMG, some that took him over 5 hours to complete. If that isn’t tenacity, I don’t know what is. And, when I stepped into his store yesterday, he was studying the bible. Wow.
