After graduating from Kamehameha Schools in 1997, Dr. Asam attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. In 2005, Dr. Asam graduated Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She is the first Hawaiian, and resident of Hawai’i, to graduate from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Following her D.M.D. degree, Dr. Asam attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her post-​doctorate there and earned her certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics.

Dr. Asam soon saw an opportunity to move back home to Hawai’i and open her own dental office; and, in August 2009, she opened her office in Kahala. She is excited to be back in Hawai’i and have the ability to share her expertise with her community.

Coming from someone who has background in dentistry (and I do not work at this office), I’d like to counter the review left by del w. The cost of the surgical implant placement ranges from $ 2500-​$ 3500, depending if you need to do a bone graft or sinus lift… then the crown and abutment can be anywhere from $ 1500-​$ 2000. Luckily this office does both, because normal dental offices will have to refer out for the implant (to an oral surgeon/​maxillofacial office) and then come back to the regular DDS to do the crown on the implant. Costs to do dental treatment range by area, of course, however in Hawaii it is generally the same amount. However if you were to change the zip code to some place in the mainland you could be looking at a different cost which could be much more or much less.
So basically yes, you are looking at the $ 5000+ range just for one tooth. Which is why you should take care of your teeth to begin with! I’m pretty sure they didn’t pressure you into doing any implant, and there are alternatives to an implant such as doing a bridge, which is usually cheaper. Don’t complain about something that you knew full well of.

Anyone who is deadly curious to find out THE SECRET INFORMATION ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANT COSTS at this place (ASAM’s), listen up:
1. Extract tooth: $ 350
2. Surgical place implant: endosteal (I think it is «seal», but hey, I’ll go with STEAL): $ 2100
3. Socket Preservation w/​o membrane: $ 750
Come back SIX MONTHS LATER:
4. Custom Abutment-​incl placement: $ 750
5. Abutment Support Porc fused to hi-​nob: $ 1350
Total: $ 5,300 and with Hawaii State Tax and Rail Tax: $ 5,549.73
I give this place ONE STARS which may be unfair but sheeze… $ 5500 for one lousy tooth???

Dr. Asam and her staff get 5 stars for exceptional service. The front of the office is very friendly and accommodating. Ho’oipo is the hygienist from heaven. My teeth look and feel squeaky clean after every appointment. Dr. Asam is the best in the business. I love that she is young, fresh, innovative, and provides the best quality work out there. Hats off to Dr. Asam and her staff!

Who likes going to the dentist? I DO!!!
Actually, I never enjoyed going to the dentist until I met Dr. Asam and her staff. Conveniently located in the back of Kahala Mall (next to McDonald’s), parking is free and abundant. What I appreciate most about her office besides the professionalism and friendliness of everyone is that they are very current and tech savvy.
What do I mean by that? You have the option of confirming appointments via phone/​email/​text. How cool is that? Let’s be serious here… in this day and age everyone would rather text than talk so I truly enjoy this option.
Dr. Asam is also extremely thorough… on a first visit as a new patient, she does an entire workup consistent with X-​rays and CT scans of your pearly whites, and sits down to talk with you after her Hygienist gives you a good teeth cleaning.
Another thing I really like about her office is that she gets pre-​authorization approvals from your insurance company prior to bigger procedures so you have a pretty good idea of how much you’ll be forking over out of pocket before agreeing to do it.
Needless to say, I am a fan of Dr. Asam and am truly glad that I found her to be my dentist. She is incredibly knowledgable in the field of teeth and she also specializes in prosthodontics. Trust me, after a visit with her and her staff, you’ll enjoy going to the dentist too!
