NEX Outdoor Living Center

Nice selection of outdoor items, furniture, grills and plants. Has everything you need for your garden!

Location/​Parking:
They are located across from the elementary school and KFC. They have a small parking lot.
Plants:
They sell all types of plants from lychee tree, gardenia, lavender and etc. They also sell soil, pots and water hose.
Merchandise:
They sell other things besides gardening necessities like organization containers, grill, grill accessories, pest killer and etc.
There is no AC in this open air building. It does connect to the pet store. Remember, only authorized patrons (military ID holder) may shop here.

Beautiful plants and diff variety of herbs, veg, and fruit trees. They have more selection than the hickam ‘s BX

$$ saved for the house. Well laid out and helpful staff.

I’m lucky my Mom worked for the feds. She has great benifits ! And one of them is being able to shop at the NEX. I love this place ! Super sales, and no tax ! Wooo Hooo !

Not gonna lie. I don’t have a green thumb. Unless you call replacing the plant that died with a look-​a-​like. That’s pretty much how it’s been since I’ve been in Hawaii. I kill anything I touch. Too much sun maybe? So I’ve been to the Outdoor Living Center more than the Exchange. Go figure. I went in here to get a weedeater when my husband was overseas and Shawn (one of the employees) dumbed it down so even I knew how to make this machine work. I came back and bought a Patio Set and BBQ grill and more plants. Shawn helped me out to the car and gave me directions to the warehouse (which by the way is on the other side of the Pet Store. You have to show your ID and receipt to the security guard to get in. Then go to the window and show the lady there as well before they will bring it out to you.) My husband came home and said the heck with weed eating the whole yard and we went back and bought a lawn mower. I’ve had questions about squeaky doors, mosquito issues, you name it. Almost every time I ran into Shawn and he’s answered even the dumbest of dumb questions I’ve had.
Now the cashiers aren’t as pleasant. I’ve had 1 out of the last 8 times there that they haven’t been rude. Doesn’t hurt to act like you like your job. I mean there are how many people out there without one?

We have visited this store twice. The prices are very reasonable for what is available on the island. The first time we went, we were there at night and there was only one employee– she wasn’t great. Bad customer service.
The second time we went was on a Saturday afternoon and there were quite a few more customers. Still, not great in the customer service department. I have only seen a few employees here, and they aren’t at all helpful.
Another example of you get what you pay for. Low prices, no taxes. Employees who don’t seem to care, and a sub-​par selection.

I’ve gotten mediocre service at this place in the past, but this week was much better. Decent parking; close proximity to the NEX Pet Stop, NEX, and Pearl Harbor Commissary. There’s a decent selection of plants and outdoor merchandise available. I am so privileged to enjoy the benefit of shopping here.

You know I liked this place until we brought our brand new gazebo home.
I was super excited. We got this gorgeous gazebo at this place and we were told we had to take it down and then transport it on our own. There was no option for delivery. But we were fine because my husband is awesome and can build stuff. But anyways.
We bought a beautiful gazebo and had to take it down and take it home.
So when we brought it home guess what. It blew over in the wind and completely shattered. Since when does this place sell crappy stuff? I’m not really sure if I’m going to go this place if I’m getting patio room furniture again. It’s expensive and bad quality.

We love this place. Great selection of plants, outdoor furniture, grills, etc. We bought our gas grill here and more than a few plants.

staff there are great. no tax here, but you must be in the military.

This place is awesome. No tax. You can only get in if you’re with someone from the military. Things are cheaper here than Walmart =)
NEX can get super crowded during the weekends. Worse than looking for parking at a Costo or Sams Club.

Ooooohhh, I love it here! I have a green thumb, and I like to get my fix here. Well, my dad actually gets my fix for me because he always goes and brings back some awesome stuff! The few times that I’ve actually gone inside, I was in heaven. Such a great selection.

We finally got a real tree this Christmas — a seven-​foot Douglas Fir — for only $ 8. A guy in the parking lot saw us jamming it into our car and asked us where we lived, that he might help drive it for us in his truck. Tis the season! (It’s good to be home…)
