Matsukawa Healing Center

Deborah at Matsukawa Healing Center has been a wonderful hidden surprise this last year. I have had lower back problems for about 8 years and she has work wonders. She is very flexible and tries to work with everyones busy schedule. She has been doing this for many years and knows exactly where to work your aches and pains.
I would recommend her to my friends and family any day.

I was really afraid of her after reading the reviews, but after scheduling my appointment and getting my massage I don’t understand how she could possibly be mean. She does the massages and takes the calls, so she didn’t answer my first call. However she returned my call within an hour of leaving her a message. She is very intuitive, and will fix your body problems! She’s a little pricy, but worth every penny.
She’s located in the building across from Jellys, on the second floor.

I had a great experience doing the ear candling with Debora. She was very accomodating with my crazy schedule and saw me earlier than she usually starts.
She made me feel very comfortable and was very gentle with the candle in my ear canal… I left my appointment with a much better hearing and def will be back.

OK, so I haven’t had my massage yet. I purchased a Groupon and THEN read the Unilocal!reviews and became somewhat skeptical because several reviews made it sound as if it was impossible to get an appointment or even speak to someone. I called on a Sunday morning about 20 minutes before the business opened and Deborah answered on the second ring. I have an appointment this very week!
If the massage reviews are any indication, I will totally love my experience! I miss my massage therapist on Maui (which took a few years to find) and have been quite skeptical of finding another. The reviews could have been written by me about my previous therapist!

The owners practice BAD BUSINESS!!!
I have a Crowd Savings coupon for Matsukawa Healing Health Center that they refused to accept.
I called several times to make an appointment and this business did not call me back until the day the coupon expired. I left numerous messages and had pretty much given up thinking they went out of business.
Today, the coupon expires and a woman calls at 10am (owner’s wife) and states that I can use my coupon if I can come in at 1pm that same day. Otherwise she will not honor the coupon.
This is clearly this individual’s bad business practice so they do not have to honor Crowd Savings Coupons. I am highly dissatisfied. I contacted this business numerous times BEFORE the expiration date and they only called me back on the expiration date. The woman was obviously pleased that I would have to pay an additional $ 35 to use my coupon for a massage if she honored the price I paid for the coupon.
If merchants feel that this is a good way to squeeze extra $ out of online coupons, they are only advertising their poor business practices to a larger community.
Considering this is the type of business that flourishes on repeat customers, I highly encourage Unilocalers to take their business elsewhere. NEVER AGAIN!!!

These people did not want to honor my groupon during the promotional period. Stating that they «ran out of appointment slots» which is retarded. So I never got to use it. These people are unscrupulous and the secretary was apathetic on the phone about it.

I am writing you, because for some reason, the phone get hung up if I tried to talk… You told me that you will honor the living social, because you were too full for appointment before my husband leave for Maine.
Now my husband came back with this new ship called USS Michael Murphy, and I tried to make an appointmentment for the social living voucher, you are telling me the different information… I am kinda confused.
I had two social living vaoucher and I gave one to Dione, because I had to leave to Maine for my emergency back in April. Dione loved your massage (She used it for my appointment). She told me you are sooo good.

During one of our mother/​daughter outings, Mom and I ‘connected’ with Deborah 10+ yrs ago at the Origins Skincare counter in Liberty House Ala Moana. Origins was offering a complimentary mini foot massage with purchase, and Deborah was the masseuse. We each had a 30 minute foot reflexology session, it was an invigorating experience, and our feet wanted more! So, we each booked an appointment, and the rest is history… we’ve been clients of Deborah since.
On each visit, Mom looks forward to Deborah’s customized foot reflexology/​massage therapy treatment to help her back and leg aches. Mom always leaves balanced, relaxed, and rejuvenated.
Thanks Deborah for being a part of our lives… you’re not only our physical healer but a spiritual one too, as well as a friend.

Debbie is awesome! More than I expected. Debbie tells you upfront that she doesn’t do deep tissue so if that’s what you’re looking for you need to go elsewhere. With that being said she is very strong! She was able to release the strain on my very tense upper back and neck. I will be seeing her again soon!

I have been going to Deborah for ear candling for years. She is the BEST !

I ended up going to Matsukawa Healing Center through a Living Social deal for 60 minute massage and 30 minute chiropractic consultation. I had approx. 6 months to make an appointment but never could get through on the phone to make an appointment. I figured that both Mr & Mrs Matsukawa were in appointments so I left a message to call me back. I never received a call back…
With about 2 weeks before expiration I decided to drive down to the center and make an appointment in person. I found the building but couldn’t find a sign. I called the phone number and got through. I was answered by Mrs Matsukawa and I told her that I was trying to get directions; she demanded that I identify myself. I responded that I was a «potential client».
Once I was informed that it was on the second floor I climbed the stairs and entered the center. While booking an appointment with Mrs Matsukawa, I was informed that they were booked through till a few weeks after the expiration date on the deal but they’d take it anyway. I appreciated that kind gesture; especially since it was so hard to get through. I informed her that I attempted to make reservations previously and left messages. She referred to me as the person who «spoke too fast» and that I should «slow down» my speech for other people. This was somewhat offensive and I was not thrilled, especially since I spoke very slowly on the phone when leaving my call back number.
Fast forward a few weeks later and I went in for my appointment with Mrs Matsukawa. The massage was good although I like my massages deep tissue which she does not do. None the less, it was relaxing. I would like to highlight that she had an extreme change in attitude from the previous encounter. Maybe she was having a bad day before? I wasn’t offered the 30 minute chiropractic consultation although it didn’t really matter since I have a chiropractor of my own that I go to.
At the end I was charged about $ 3 in tax since the Living Social voucher didn’t cover it. I’ve never had this with any other Living Social deal but I paid it anyways.
Overall, I had a ³⁄₅ experience.

We all benefit from the healing effects of touch. A simple well intended hand on the shoulder will make anyone feel good. It does however, take a different type of touch to make aches and pains go away. Deborah has this special touch. She has the ability to sense the exact source of pain and instinctively knows what to do to alleviate discomforts. While being worked on, you can feel healing energies radiate from her hands and forearms. I’ve had sciatic nerve and shoulder related pains disappear after one or two treatments. Truly amazing.
I’ve also had the ear candling and truthfully speaking, I wouldn’t have believed the results if I didn’t experience it firsthand. I’m still unclear as to how it works but you can actually see the junk that is «sucked» out of your ear canal. It’s incredible what you can accumulate over the years. After the treatment my sinuses and whole being felt unclogged; lighter and more open.

Deborah has the touch. She’s caring, interested and knows what she is doing. I really enjoy the ear candling sessions. It’s amazing and it works.

I love Deborah’s massages, I leave there feeling like a new person. Thank you Deborah!

As a school teacher, professional singer, and radio show host, I rely on my hearing & voice for my livelihood. My (now grown) kids & I have been going to Deborah for ear candling for over 10 years now after we first met at an alternative healing expo.
After a treatment with Deborah, I can actually hear my voice sounding louder and my head feels lighter. Even the «click» heard when swallowing or yawning is louder because the ear canal has been deeply cleared. It is quite shocking to see the horrendous amounts of orange ear wax, and grey, powdery, Candida yeast that is sucked out by the vortex, created by the burning of the hollow candle, that is gently inserted into the outer part of the ear canal. It has to be seen to believe because otherwise one has no idea of what builds up inside the dark, moist, ear canal.
The treatment is completely painless, comforting and soothing and Deborah makes me feel so well cared for. I always doze off during the procedure as she massages the surrounding area & uses essential oils that are good aromatherapy. If you read anecdotes about ear candling on line, there are many caveats about it being dangerous because of the burning, as well as pure quackery.
With years of proof behind my testimonial, I trust & recommend Deborah’s ear candling method to all my singer & musician friends, as well as to anyone who may have inner ear problems or who would just like to be able to hear better. So get all that junk out of there & experience the difference!

I’m actually giving 3−½ stars… I came here not expecting wonders done to me. I bought a Living Social Deal for an hour long massage and a 15 min chiropractic consultation. I wasn’t offered the chiropractic consultation, nor even talked about it. It would have been good to see what they have to say about my messed up body, but I got the deal just for the massage anyway.
The BAD:
— Not enough pressure. I’m used to deep tissue and really working my muscles.
— Uses too much oil. Doesn’t rub into your body.
— Didn’t do enough on my feet. Just two or three rubs on my feet, and that’s it.
— Had to wipe all the oils off with the sheet when the massage was over.
The GOOD:
— Massage table was heated! That was awesome! Love that! Wish more places has this!
— Massage was actually relaxing (didn’t really hurt like the deep tissues I get). Mostly rolling and kneading technique.
— Worked on my back alot since I told her I have lower back pain which causes my whole left side to hurt.
— Told me I have slight scoliosis on my lower back. Was it only b/​c I told her I had my lower back pain?
— Deborah was really friendly and offered a $ 10 off coupon for a return visit.
So, not bad for the deal I paid for. Sorta wished I got the chiropractic consultation just to see what they have to offer. But not really since I’m afraid of chiropractors!

I’ve been around the world, searched high and low. And when I least expected it, I found her. Deborah Matsukawa. It was «love at first touch».
Debbie, hands down, is the best masseuse on the island.
I almost don’t want to write her a review because she is my best kept secret… I have introduced to her my colleagues, and now half the office go to her!
She really understands the body, and without touching you through your posture she is able to tell what’s wrong with you. I’m amazed every time I go to her because she literally releases my pain within a few strokes! And don’t get me started on her reflexology foot massage…
Her massages aren’t painful, through she really can turn it up if you want her to. Her hands are very strong yet soft and gentle. I’ve learned that with her, she can release all my kinks without having to put me through excruciating pain.
I have had a bad back for years… and have a slight herniated disc. Debbie was the one that helped me through my pain and now I’m back to being active again!
If you’re looking for a massage that is really going to relax your body and recharge your muscles, Debbie’s the one. If you are looking for a spa experience, you’d better go elsewhere.
An added plus: Debbie uses all organic lotion and oils, so you don’t have to worry about bad chemicals going into your body!

Wow, I went in and Deborah did an awesome job on my feet! I had a reflexology appointment and she was so thorough and I came out of there totally relaxed. She could even tell my tummy had been giving me trouble just by working my feet. How cool is that! I slept so good that night and can not wait to go back. Thank you Deborah!

I had a CrowdSavings voucher for a 1-​hour massage and chiropractic consultation.
The massage was ok. I’m used to a more professional attitude, with a specific rhythm that lets me know the massage is starting and ending. She just came in after telling me that I had to «take off everything, but you can keep your underwear on if you want.» She had a lack of draping technique, but that might be a new-​school thing. There was a heating pad, so that was good. The entire room smelled like patchouli and other essential oils which I didn’t care for. There was nothing with the massage itself, but I guess my expectations were different.
Now the consultation… seemed like a bunch of quackery. I have been to many chiropractors before, getting adjusted and treatment after injuries. Dr. Matsukawa just started yapping on and on about electromagnetic forces running through my body, that my breathing was opening up, while making me stand and doing nothing but holding his hand out and his fingers clenched together on his other hand «feeling» my energy. Zero chiropractic work (other than pushing my shoulders back and poking my leg) was done, which I wasn’t expecting either.
Based on their website, I wouldn’t have expected such a new-​agey approach.
