Kahala Mall

Just love this mall! Movies, food and shopping one stop location. Aloha salad, The Paper and Whole Foods are some of my favorites. Ala moana is no longer geared towards licals– too high end. Kahala Mall is the place to be!

Pretty much a prime example of what has happened to 99% of malls in non-​prime locations since the advent of online shopping. First tier stores start to lose money and move out, which drives down real estate space costs, and so soon second tier shops take up the vacant space.
Which for us means pretty much a whole mall full of places full of useless stuff you wouldn’t feel compelled to buy.

I like this mall. I’ve never heard prior to house-​hunting lol
Came here to sign some (a lot) of papers at one of the escrow companies. Afterwards the husband and I were hungry so we decided to try «Grylt» as recommended to us. That’s another review waiting to happen.
Initial parking was a breeze. The one ways confused me a bit but I got great parking :)
What looks like a food court has a stage, and some tables near it. Unfortunately majority of the tables are filled with people who are NOT eating/​drinking (Jamba juice & Starbucks). So finding a seat inside was a pain. Outside, in front of Whole Foods, is more seating– which is great. The large umbrellas covering the area are a life saver. I also like how alcohol is served/​can be purchased outside.
My favorite thing about this mall are all the boutiques that sell local-​made décor and other goodies. Being from the mainland I loved the container store– here here is a store very similar to it! I forget the name, but it’s located on MAC-Macy’s side I believe.
I plan on returning to this mall once I make a list of what I need to buy to decorate my house.

I’ve been to this mall several times. Like most reviewers stated it is very close to the highway and parking is usually pretty easy to find (although the spaces are very tight). Three things I like the most are: 1. The movie theater plays movies that generally aren’t playing in other theaters yet or at all (and it plays the popular ones too). 2. It probably has one of the nicest & coolest looking CPKs (California Pizza Kitchen for those of you trying to work out the acronym in your head) that I’ve seen on the island. 3. It has a lot of little non-​franchisee stores which gives it a local non-​touristy feel. Its rarely ever crowded, at least whenever I have gone and there is a Whole Foods attached to it. What more do you need?

This mall is crowded with Japanese tourists due to just 2 reasons. 1. Whole Foods is Japanese celebrities’ favorite grocery shop, 2. Japanese tourism bus stops here, other than that it is just another mall in America. There’s a movie theater inside, but the screen is tiny and their AC is set to lowest temperature. Recommend a jacket or two if you are going.

I love this mall because its inside & with carpet everywhere & diff stores that we dont have in town I love how they have the candy carousel there and some other eating places that we do usually see around town side. the only thing i didnt like was the bathroom there. SCARY! so, you go down these stairs & theres like a mirror hallway, it doesnt end there, you keep walking straight & you end up at the bathroom at the end. omg, i needed my bf to follow me because it was that scary!

Clean, air conditioned, safe, and simple. I personally love it here because it’s only 10 minutes from home, it’s familiar and not overwhelming. As much as I love this place, here are a few things everyone should know.
1) Parking can feel non-​existent. BUT, never fear! There are three levels! And often the second floor has empty stalls.
2) There are not many shopping places. BUT, there is a movie theater, banks, eateries, and for me Macy’s covers my simple clothes shopping needs.
3) Lots of healthy choices! Whole foods, aloha salads, grill it! Also, some comfort food favorites such as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, subway, and the cookie corner.
4) There are also hair salons– you can go the cheap route with Fantastic Sam’s or a pricier route with Salon Marsha Nadalin.
All in all it is my homie piece of consumer refuge and I’d take this place over any super mall any day.

Great Mall with lots of options. Love that Whole Foods is here as well. Food court has a great variation of local and fast food options.
Movie theater, Macy’s, Long’s, and a Ross are the biggest stores. Check it out

I’m a townie, and grew up in da Kaimuki neighborhood… going to Kahala Mall for me was a big deal for me (especially when I was a little kid), cuz going by myself to Kahala Mall to meet up with my friends was a big deal back in them dayz…
I guess it was a passage of my independence as a kid, and it represented that I was getting «older».
A lot has changed over the years at Kahala Mall… as I remembered a few business (RIP) that have come and gone… but what is left, is a lot of fond memories…

I looked up some info. about Kahala Mall, and do you realized it first opened in 1954 as Waialae Shopping Center? The mall was renovated in 1969, then it became Kahala Mall.
One of the nice things about Kahala Mall is it’s an enclosed and air conditioned mall. The mall is clean, and well kept too…
Kahala Mall has an array of stores, restaurants, banks, laundry service, and a movie theater too.
There is lots of parking, and no issues with homeless people hanging around here… unlike Ala Moana Shopping Center…

Even though they don’t have a lot of stores here, they are indoors. You can shop leisurely without worrying about the sun or getting really hot. There are lots of restaurants and places to pick up a treat to munch on while you’re shopping. Not only do they have a Starbucks in the mall, they have a new drive thru as well. This mall has a theater, banks, offices and a Whole Foods.
There is a trolley stop outside for tourists to visit this mall like the other malls. You can come here by city bus or by driving. The parking lot is spacious but it does get full fast, especially the covered parking stalls during the day. If you want to just relax and people watch, there is a fountain located inside the mall by Starbucks. Around the fountain are lots of tables you can sit at. There are also benches around the mall as well.

It is a very family friendly mall. Many events and promotions throughout the often for every one in the family. Weekly exercise classes for seniors and Toddler Time for Keiki are just a few weekly happenings.
Family bathroom down hall from movie theaters is a ridiculous wait but at least there is a changing table for babies in Whole Foods and Macys.
I can shop for kitchen ware, electronics, clothing, toiletries, food and so much more at this one mall location.

Kahala Mall! Whew what to say about this mall hehe. Let’s start with, I’ve worked here off and on for about 5 years now. Before working here at the mall, i’d always come with my parents, candy carousel was a must when we got here!
Now, where Wholefoods is which is beautifully remodeled, it used to be Star market. I’m glad they made it into Wholefoods though (another grocery store). Also where the new addition to Wholefoods is that used to be Cinnabon :(I am bummed that they closed down.
Starbucks is another favorite! They just recently opened a Drive thru Starbucks at the Macys side of the mall, lucky for me I go to that walk up window because it’s so much closer to my job.
They recently opened «The Face Shop» that’s also on the Macys side wing, it’s a Korean cosmetic store, very interesting and has some great products.
I noticed that California Pizza Kitchen has also been remodeled adding a little more room in the restaurant. Above California Pizza Kitchen, used to be Tower records back in the day lol, then it was Diamond head new hope, and now it’s C4, which is a branch off of my Church :) and it’s SUPER close to work for me which makes it even more great!
There are tons more new stores in the mall, Milo a surf shop connected to quicksilver, Stir it up, Gomatei, Ross etc, Great things, you’ll just have to come check it all out! I do love this mall though, you see familiar faces everyday and the community is just awesome.

I like malls depending purely on the selection of stores and food. Big or small, with the right choices you can accomplish a lot at the mall. Kahala Mall is one of those smaller malls that actually have a lot within and on its edges.
Whole Foods was already a great plus to this mall but when they added the Puka bar, even more so. Now somewhere to grab a drink that isn’t Chilis or CPK! The Face Shop recently opened up and is beautiful inside. I heard Wards location will most likely close within a year so I was extra excited when I saw this open. Ross is connected by the upper parking lot and has been a god send as a resident of the area. Between surf shops & classy stores, there’s clothes options for all ages, toy & game stores, a movie theatre, a Longs, food both fast and sit down & in variety, coffee, home, etc. I come here often during the week with my clients whom I work at the nearby school with and for coffee and errands in the morning. I’ve truly grown to appreciate how much I can get done without having to deal with Ala Moana crowds.
There is a lot of parking in the lots both upper & lower surrounding the mall. It can be crowded on the weekends but we usually don’t have a problem.
Needless to say, I’m definitely a fan and often get caught up in the mall wide sales that occur frequently. I’ve recently moved closer, uh oh…

Kahala mall is a great neighborhood mall.
They have food: Starbucks, Jamba Juice, L&L, Mc Donald, CPK, Chili’s, The Corner, Pretzel Maker, Panda, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Kuru Kuru Sushi, Kozo Sushi, Subway, Ramen, etc.
They have Longs where you can buy daily needs, and if you’re all about being organic, there’s Whole Foods too.
Some apparel stores: Macy’s, Jean’s Warehouse, In my closet, Ross, etc.
They have banks too: ASB, BOH, CPB.
It’s a chill mall, that local students, elderly, and families comes unlike Ala Moana/​Waikiki where they’re packed with tourists. Pretty safe environment, I mean I came her by myself or with my friends since the age of 8 (not recommended!!! lol) and we were fine, just having a good time. At the same time though, this mall is not very exciting. It’s a good neighborhood mall, that has what people who lives around to be able to have what they need. For someone who lives close, like me, it’s great! But for others, maybe not.
If you want to have a nice relaxing shopping day, or want to have a lunch/​brunch/​dinner with friends/​family at a relaxing environment this is the mall for you.
FYI: for a small mall, the parking is preeeetty crazy. Something you may want to keep in mind.

Not bad for a neighborhood mall. They have the basic stores but definitely an all day thing. Good places to eat jere and the Whole foods store is cool to browse.

To be honest, I’d rather come to Kahala Mall than Ala Moana. It’s peaceful and less crowded. The stores there are okay but it’s definitely like a family type of mall. No high end stores like Gucci or Louis Vuitton but that’s okay.
They have a good selection of restaurants and food stores like CPK (best CPK in Hawaii IMO), Whole Foods, The Counter, and many other options.
My only problem with Kahala Mall is parking. For such a less crowded mall, it’s really hard to find parking. It’s sometimes a hit or miss really.

I hardly ever come to this mall as I can find similar stores and more at Ala Moana. But this mall serves its purpose well for those who live in the area and don’t want to fight the crowds and traffic.
THE MALL:
The enclosed mall is stuck in the 80’s, décor wise. Parking is pretty limited especially near the Whole Foods side.

Definitely less crowded than Ala Moana. I really enjoyed looking around Cinnamon Girl, SoHa Living, and The Paperie. The Food Court is nice too, lots of options. There are also other restaurants around the mall. A theatre is in here as well. Parking can be a bit difficult to find, but just stay patient. Whole Foods is right next door too, which is cool. Employees are friendly and helpful within the mall.

I love this mall… it’s not crazy crowded like Ala Moana and I love that tiny specialty boutiques are mixed in with with larger retail chains like Apple, Macy’s, Longs, and Banana Republic.
I wish there were more electric vehicle charging stalls, but I’m grateful for the few they do have.
My «go-​to» places at the mall are: Starbucks (storefront or Drive-​thru), CPK, Whole Foods Market, Paperie, Gymboree, Thinker Toys/​Things, Calista, Complete Kitchen, and Aloha Salads. The movie theater here is great for art flicks.
Love the performances at center stage and the frequent sidewalk sales! This is a wonderful neighborhood mall!

メイン棟の周りにも若干の飲食が
入っています。
アラモアナセンターのようなフードコートはなく
モール内は比較的分かりやすいです。
利用することはあまりないと思いますが
こちらは映画館も併設されています
日本人にも有名な
ラニカイジュース、
ザ・カウンターなども併設されています。
トイレの利用は
ちょっと場所がわかりずらいかも知れません。
駐車場はwholefoodsの前付近は
混み合うことが多いです。
