Fit Studio by Heaven On Earth

The studio is clean and has attractive décor; however it is quite small.
The overall layout is not ideal; and there are only a few mirrors, leaned up against the wall. It seems like the décor is ore important to the proprietor than functionality. For instance, it is really worthwhile to see if you are performing the skill properly; especially during a class — however that is often not possible due to the layout and lack of appropriate mirrors.
I worked with a personal trainer for a few dozen sessions and sometimes there is a wait to use equipment. We moved our appointment to a day and time when there was less activity — it was also not an ideal time and I ended up having to re-​schedule appointments.
The trainer with whom I worked is extremely competent and knowledgeable, however she has left the studio so I doubt if I will be returning.

I’ve never been to Plates or Zumba here, but Sonja’s Monday/​Wednesday evening Body Sculpting classes are awesome. Sonja is very sweet, a great trainer, very knowledgeable and she’s HOT (so it’s motivating to try to look like her)!
The studio is small, but nice bali-​type décor, clean and parking is easy!

I bought the Living Social deal for 8 reformer classes and I should have looked more closely at the location, because I just assumed that Fit Studio «BY“Heaven on Earth would be «AT» the same location as Heaven on Earth. But before we get to that part of my review, I wanted to address the scheduling issues that some other Unilocalers mentioned. These reviews didn’t put me off (I bought the deal!) since I saw that Fit Studio had gone to an online scheduler. I do have to admit that I wasn’t sure how to manage it with the Living Social deal but I emailed Deborah who I assume is the owner and she got back to me immediately telling me I was ready to schedule. So I just scheduled all 8 classes and put them on my calendar — too easy!
I was pretty excited about my first class because I haven’t been on the reformer for awhile now so I made sure to head into town with plenty of time to spare. As I said above, I didn’t look closely enough and headed to Heaven on Earth Spa only to learn that I was stil miles away from where I needed to be and didn’t quite make it in time. Anyway, I finally made it to one of my scheduled classes today and while it was a good class I was a little disappointed. We did a few exercises that are part of the classic reformer repertoire, but just as many of the moves seemed to be classic mat work just adapted to being on the reformer carriage vice a mat on the floor. I felt like I got a decent workout and will definitely use my remaining classes — so long as I can convince myself to fight my way through in-​town traffic (from Kailua) but next time I’ll be in the mindset for the type class I’m going to get. If you’re experienced on the Pilates reformer beprepared to dial that back a few notches when you go here.
The instructor was friendly, helpful, and knowledgable and the studio was very pleasant with nice ambience. I was on the end reformer and I believe it was the cleaning crew was working in the back so it distracted me a couple of times — but the place is obviously clean!

A very thoughtful friend bought me a Living Social package for 8 pilates classes at Fit Studio, seeing as how I injured my back /​sciatica in December after a big sneeze. True story!
After unsuccessful attempts to book a class since Feb/​March, I was going to ask for a refund when they finally opened up a 10 a.m. Saturday class. Parking is a bit of a challenge in that Isenberg/​King Street area, but after making one pass around the block, I cockaroached a stall nearly in front of the studio. Another option is the stalls fronting Old Stadium Park or the mauka side of King Street by the baseball park.
Fit Heaven is a small but efficiently organized space with dark wood flooring and lots of natural light pouring in through glass windows. The front area houses weights and exercise equipment, with the back studio reserved for six reformer machines. If you’ve never taken pilates, these machines feature cables and pulleys used for resistance.
Our instructor, Courtney, started us with a warm up, and then we were on the reformer for an hour that passed all too quickly. While I was hesitant about people passing by the windows and staring in at the class, that didn’t bother me after the first 5 minutes because you have to concentrate so hard on your form and the motion of the exercise. It was intense but in that «I know I got a kick-​butt workout» way. Seriously, the next few days I had to tell folks not to make me laugh or sneeze because my abs were hurting so much. Courtney deserves 5 stars!
We went back on a Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. and though I didn’t feel I had the energy level, once again Courtney encouraged us to push through. I felt refreshed and more energetic after the class and will be coming back!
Note that the studio is transitioning to an online reservation system which should make it easier to book a pilates class going forward. Let’s hope so!

Great instructors but like anything, some are better than other. I go to Christine or Deborah and like them. New location at Ward isn’t as convenient and the space if very small but parking is easy.

I purchased the deal from Play Hawaii over a year ago and now it is expired. I had the same problem as Ttbear and Eileen. I will never support a business that does not bother to return calls. They just take your money and run. Not a good business for sure.

So far I must say I have had the same result as Eileen when I have tried to call. No answer and no return calls. My guess is that they did not plan for the volume they received from the LS coupon.

I snagged a deal through Living Social for unlimited pilates classes for a month for the low price of $ 35 — This is the best money i’ve ever spent. I wish I could afford to continue taking classes here but alas, it would severely limit my clothes and food budget … priorities!
The pilates classes offered are those using a reformer machine, they have six in the studio thus the class sizes are intimate, meaning you get a lot of personal attention (which is awesome for pilates, it’s all about your form and technique).
The only way I can describe the reformer if you’re not familiar with the equipment is it looks like an exercise machine you’d see on an informercial, a long cushioned platform you’d lay down or stand on to glide with a foot bar and pulleys — the tension is controlled by interchangeable springs. It sounds complicated but really simple and guarantees a great core and stretching workout.
The studio offers classes throughout the day and luckily was very close to my home and work so I was able to take advantage of classes almost daily (no classes on Sunday).
The instructors are very knowledgeable, and you can tell they practice what they preach — they’ve got HOT BODIES! Maybe one day I’ll make the commitment to set aside some money to take classes again cause I want a rockin’ body like that too!

One star… Why? Because I couldn’t give ZERO stars! Seriously: I refuse to support businesses with lack of common decency like maybe calling your potential clients back? Needless to say after 3 phone calls, 2 emails & a message I give up… Thank goodness for hot yoga on Nimitz: I’ll gladly continue my business there. Suggestion ‘fit studio:’ return phone calls & STOP producing coupons & marketing on living social/​groupon if you don’t intend to pick up the phone, return calls, or emails. Seriously.

I’ve tried three other places and like coming here because, they explain every step of the way, affordable, and have so much to offer! The staff is very friendly and work with you in anyway they can!
