Yummy pastries and friendly staff. I always try to stop by when I’m in the area. :) I came in on Sunday. I got a variety of pastries… mini cupcakes, almond bars and the croissants: P

Had the Red Velvet cake. Delish. Presentation n taste overall is fantastic. Price tag is good if u want a great cake. People get cheap n complain n don’t want to pay the price. Then go to Sams or costco. This is not your average bakery or cakes.

First time here and the deserts we’re delicious and the place is clean… the reason for a low rating is the Hospitality needs improvement… I ask the woman that was working the counter, What are you guys famous for? She said, just pick and walked away!!! My first impression isn’t nice so I won’t write it… This will be my first and last time here!!!

Just got a birthday cake here for my wife. It was not cheap, I think $ 35 for the Red Velvet cake. The cake was pretty good though. It was dense, they probably added cream cheese to the cake itself, with a nice cream cheese frosting. It was only 2 tier, so not huge. I prefer a more airy cake, but that didnt take away from the flavor. I still the CPK has one of the best Red Velvet cakes, but they dont sell whole cakes and each slice is $ 8. In any case, they have tons of dessert options, and all look really good. I just wish prices were a little less, but everything is still tasty. Parking can get rough, but I was told by the owner to just park in front handicap stall if too busy. Tip: Call in your cakes in advance and they can write names on white chocolate pieces, and avoid lunch hour if possible, the parking lot is a nightmare!!!

The first thing you see when you first enter this small bakery, is the decadent cakes and cupcakes. Although I have never tried anything from this showcase, based on the reviews i’ve read, I will the next time. Meanwhile, I usually get a cream cheese donut to go with my coffee. This is a round donut ball dusted with powdered sugar on top, with a cream cheese filling. It isn’t really sweet, just the creaminess from the filling.

I went here and bought some Moon cakes. I love their lotus paste moon cakes! They have an assortment of moon cakes and even a pig shaped moon cake for kids! They also sell coffee here as well to go along with your yummy pastry. Plenty of parking here at Kapalama Center and I love that I can come here instead of going into Chinatown for moon cakes!

I didn’t actually taste any of these so this review is based on my experience of buying pastries here only. Due to the nearby closed donuts shop, I was forced to find another alternative to buy a box of pastries to take as a thank you. I ended up at Elvin’s, having heard good things. To my surprise, it was very nice inside and very similar to a Japanese style bakery(I was picturing something more like Nandings). They have similar type items such as melon pan and ham and cheese buns. Each piece ran close to $ 2, which I thought was steep, especially for the simpler items. The items are self service. You grab a tray and some tray liners and a tongs and help yourself to whatever you’re going to purchase. I got there at around 7:45 on a Tuesday morning and there was one person in there already and one came while I was still getting my pastries so it’s nice that it’s not too crowded. The lady who rang me up had no personality, she barely spoke and kept a straight face. When she asked me to sign the credit card slip, I think all she did was pass it over and say«sign». She was pretty abrupt and lacked good customer service. I think she possibly barely mumbled out a «thank you» as I left the shop. Located off Dillingham across the big Chuck E Cheese complex. Ample parking available. I’ve always been able to find a stall in this lot although I’ve never been here during peak periods.

My family bought a cheesecake from Elvin’s Bakery to celebrate my 18th(early) birthday. It was $ 30, served 10 guests. Decorations were lovely and the cake looked delicious BUT it did lack a little in cheesiness flavor; still decent though. I’d definitely come back for their celebratory cakes. Its absolutely gorgeous!

Red Velvet Cake: Very light and tasty, it doesn’t make you feel heavy after eating this delicious cake. Japanese Cheesecake: Very light and tasty. Parking: There is a private lot that they share with other restaurants, depending when you go you may or may not find parking. Service: The lady that was in there was very friendly, she said hi as soon as I entered the shop.

I have to thank Li for her review and her love for red velvet cake for assisting me with finally trying this place. Last night I found myself wanting to bring a desert and wanting to have zero dishes to clean. Because I was dining with people I actually like, a cake that had sat out all day at the neighborhood grocery store would not do. Elvin’s to the rescue. When I walked up to the bakery there were a few people outside with their noses pressed against the window which I took as a good sign. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful and I was surprised you can get lettering on a cake at the last minute(mental note for birthdays). I grabbed the last red velvet cake and a slice of tiramisu for my husband and headed home trying not to eat my husband’s treat in traffic while other drivers stared in horror. The red velvet cake is out of this world fantastic. I haven’t tasted red velvet cake that good since I was in the south. And the tiramisu was outstanding. It rivaled Italian restaurants I’ve been to in NYC. Needless to say Elvin’s has just earned themselves a lifelong customer. Nom.

Elvin’s Bakery makes Asian-style Bread, fresh filled Donuts; Scones with crunchy edges; savory Sausage Rolls; Muffins; and so much more. They are known for their cakes which can be bought by the slice and whole. Suitable for a fancy celebration, these cakes are beautifully decorated, covered with whipped cream frosting and contain delicate, moist cake. Light and not too sweet, you’ll have room for a second piece. They also make two types of cheesecake, both are plain and mild in flavor. The Japanese Cheesecake is airy and the traditional is smooth and creamy. Be a show-off and bring a whole Strawberry Shortcake or Red Velvet Cake to your next special occasion – people will rave about it.

Strawberry shortcake perfection! I’ve eaten a lot of desserts during my time on Earth and Elvin’s makes the best strawberry shortcake I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying! It’s so difficult to explain in words why it’s so good, but you have to try it for yourself. The cake is so light, the cream flavorful yet not too sweet, and every bite has a sliver of fresh strawberry embedded in it. Is this dessert made by magic elves? Because I swear I ate some fairy dust and now I’m on cloud nine!!! I sat next to my husband in the car eating a slice of shortcake and tried not to make eye contact with him. Out of politeness I offered him a bite not thinking he’d ever say yes because he usually doesn’t care for sweets. Much to my dismay he said yes and I begrudgingly gave him a bite. He said it was«okay.» I love my husband but it made me mad to think that I’d just wasted a bite of precious cake on him. Then he had the audacity to ask for a second bite! For a second I thought about opening the car door and pushing him out, but decided to avoid a psychiatric evaluation and possible jail time. Yes, I love this strawberry shortcake that much. And yes, my husband is still alive… at least for the time being.

This bakery is such a great find! I needed a chocolate cake for my sister’s baby shower and I remembered my mother-in-law would always brings us the most amazing strawberry shortcakes from here. The cakes are very reasonably priced($ 30 for an 8 inch round) and can be custom ordered in different sizes. Ordering the cake and picking it up was a breeze. Service was great and the chocolate dream cake was just that! Totally dreamy: light, airy, and delicious!

For years my g. friends and I would congregate @ Nordstrom’s Café for the best red velvet cake we ever had, coffee and memorable conversation. For years. One day I asked the counter person @ Nordstroms«How much to buy the whole cake?». To which they told me the per piece price multiplied by x pieces and said, «don’t you just want to get it from the bakery direct!?! HALFDAPRICE!» Once I found out where to get this wonderful mound of confectionary goodness I was a frequent customer to Elvin’s! Every birthday… Red velvet cake from Elvin’s. Every welcome home party, red velvet cake from Elvin’s. Every excuse to buy a cake(and make up a reason to specialize it with beautiful chocolate writing on top of a yummie chocolate rectangle… a red velvet cake from Elvin’s. By this time, Elvin, who has now grown into a fabulous friend says on one of my spontaneous stops, «HEY, why don’t you try the mango mouse cake or tiramisu or… SOMETHING, anything else!» Hahah. Since then… its been a love affair, with every single morsel of goodness in there. Ohhh… and did I mention, they make furikake lavosh sticks… simply out of this world !!

I noticed a tiny flying insect crawling on the pastry in the display case today. It was to late to stop the wife from buying some pastries without causing a scene so I’m going to have here throw it away when we get home just to be on the safe side. I also noticed that Ono Korean BBQ next door has Unilocal reviews pointing out the same problem too.

Part of the new dillingham complex, Elvin’s bakery is a popular one and seems to get great reviews. I don’t really see the appeal but I am guessing that people just like it because it is one of the nicer bakeries in the Kalihi area, although that’s not really saying all that much. I tried a lot of the popular items including the mango cake, the lychee cake, a macadamia flake bar and a blueberry cream cheese scone. I thought the cakes were just a bit too spongy and flavorless. The pastries were also on the dry side without much flavor either. Overall, I didn’t think anything was that great here and«I’ve experienced better».

Okay it was Friday and I was making antipasto salad, spaghetti with sausages and wanted tiramisu for desert. Called several local bakeries and many had a couple of slices but for my family nothing but the entire cake is enough. A co-worker actually Unilocaled tiramisu and up popped Elvin’s Bakery. Never heard of it but called and was advised yes indeed they had an entire cake. What a beauty, meant to take a picture but it was devoured before I could break out the iPhone! Such a little bakery at Kapalama shopping center. I have not pulled into the center in several years, it was such a dump. Now they have done a lot of work on the buildings, parking lot and even some landscaping so it was comfortable pulling in. Walked into the bakery and with two other customers the placed was jammed. In the small bakery case was my gorgeous cake, beautifully decorated with a couple of plump, sugared strawberries, chocolate straws and chocolate leaved dusted with espresso. The entire cake was dusted with espresso powder over whipped, piped cream. This was actually a white cake sliced in half inch layers, moistened with espresso and separated with a mixture of whipped mascarpone and cream. In addition to my cake there was a Guava cake and a very tempting strawberry short cake in the case. I would a bought all three but HB would not have let me in the house! I did buy some milk bread rolls which I whipped into garlic toast to go with dinner. I will be back, this is definitely a gem of a find for me.

Elvin’s bakery is Asian/chinese style bakery on Dillingham. I would go there more often except it’s out of my way. It’s located across street from Chuck E. Cheese’s. I think the place is called Kapalama Center. It’s the same area as Zippy’s. Parking is plentiful. This center has been renovated so it’s nice and clean. I like their cakes. They have mango, lilikoi, lychee, dream etc. Their cakes are made with chiffon and mousse style which are very light. I did get single pieces of the cake and I can tell it wasn’t made on the same day. Most people can’t tell but I can because I have some bakery experience. They also have yummy pastries you can choose. One of my favorite is their Hokkaido bun. It’s a plain round bun with lightly sweet coated on the top. As for their service, it’s okay. They don’t ask if you need help or sell you more things. The shop is nice and clean.

So local — so fresh! I guess I’m a spoiled brat because I love me some 85C and JJs in Cali. When it comes to pastries, Elvin’s Bakery is good for your local bakery goodies. From savory to sweet, Elvin’s Bakery will carry a variety of from char siu manapua($ 1.79) to strawberry danish($ 1.79). One of their best sellers is the«Crown Bread»($ 4.50) which has a homemade custard baked inside. The taste and flavor is equivalent to the Bread House in Chinatown. They are also known for their birthday cakes which I hope someone will surprise me with(hint hint!). They are located in Kalihi by the remodeled Palama Market. There is ample parking in front of his shop and credit cards are accepted. Not bad but not the greatest.
