Doggy Box

If you know me, you know that I LOVE my dog. I don’t even think of her as my «dog», but rather as my «daughter»…and because I love her so much, I’m very, very particular when choosing things for her… from the food she eats (which I cook) down to the peepee pads she uses. That being said, I did a LOT of research before choosing her groomer. I’ve heard horror stories about bad things happening to dogs while they’re at the groomers, so I wanted to make sure I could trust the person I chose.
I have been taking my baby (a Yorkshire terrier) and my brother’s dog (a silky terrier) to Mai for several years now, and I can honestly say she’s the best– I will not go anywhere else.
Although my «daughter» has a calm disposition and is very easy to handle, my brother’s dog can be very difficult– especially around strangers. Mai is the only groomer that can handle him… and I’ve taken him to a lot of different groomers! One groomer actually called in the middle of a session and told me she couldn’t finish his haircut. :/​That is why I was so relieved to find Mai. Not only is she sweet, but she can actually handle difficult clients :)
The dogs always come out looking great, and I get a lot of compliments on their haircuts! Yorkies and Silky terriers have long hair that can grow to the ground, but I like to keep them in puppy cuts. Mai gets it perfect every time!
As an added bonus, mai always snaps a picture of your groomed pooch in front of her cute, themed backdrop of the month, and emails it to you a few days later :)

I would give this place 10+ stars if I could. By the time I picked up my 14 year old miniature dachshund, Barton, his coat was so smooth and he smelled so fresh! Above all, Barton looked extremely comfortable and happy. I’ve visited other groomers and the facility always smelled like dogs. This place was actually clean and extremely sanitized. Thank you Mai! Your attention to detail and level of service go way beyond what any of us can ever expect!

Absolutely Amazing! Our dog, Mochi, has been going to Mai for over 5 years now. We have followed her over the years with every move and are still with her now at Doggy Box. Mochi always looks AMAZING when he gets groomed by Mai. But the most important thing is this review is by Mochi. He LOVES LOVES Mai. My relatives tried to take him to another groomer and he barked at the other groomer and refused to go in. It is crazy that our dog refuses to go to another groomer. He happily goes to Mai on every visit and comes home looking great! Mai is patient and takes her time and appears to always do a scissor cut on Mochi. Mai takes extra time and care to make dogs and their owners feel appreciated. We LOVE her seasonal photos of Mochi as well. We’ve tried other groomers in Hawaii and no one even compares in terms of quality of service and customer service. Thank you Mai for having a passion for what you do and showing the love and care for our little Mr. Mochi!

So glad to bring my dogs to Mai. They always come out looking clean and fresh. She noticed that they had a skin rash and used the appropriate shampoo for sensitive skin. She also sends out the cute photos of the animals after their appointment too. You can tell that she loves animals which makes it easier to leave the babies for their appointment.

Oh my! Not enough stars on Unilocal & in the galaxy to give Mai! When I called her again to see if she had an opening she recognized my voice right away (mind you its been almost a year since we last seen Mai. naughty gammy) but I took Peanut in again for a nail trim as well as a general grooming. She is so patient and calming with peanut. As I was signing some personal information she was sitting with peanut & petting him that he felt so relaxed that he was ready to take a nap! So she told me that she would be done in about 45 minutes. I’ve never left peanut alone with anyone besides family, but as soon as I left he willingly followed to get his «groom» on. 45 minutes later & I got me a clean, shiny & happy dog. Like I tell everyone with a dog, go & see Mai at doggy box, she’ll make your doggy feeling like a million bucks! Thanks again Mai! Me & peanut will be back in 2 months to get his «groom» on:)

Pepper and Gizmo love Mai (maltese and a malti-​poo-​pom) ! She magically transforms them from scruffies to cuties! A friend recommended her a couple years ago when Mai was at Wan Wan Paradise and now she has her own shop! Its a charming, clean shop conveniently located near Ward Avenue with a few stalls right outside the front door! Mai is so sweet amd kind and i do not hesitate to leave my babies with her because i know they are in good hands. Mai does an amazing job, even though our 1-​year old Gizmo cannot sit still! I dont know how she does it — she is like the dog-​whisperer, seriously! Trust your pup with Mai — you will NOT be disappointed!

My dog, Pico, and I love Mai! The Doggy Box is immaculate. Mai is friendly and professional. She does an awesome Lion Cut for Pico. And I LOVE the pictures she takes after the grooming is complete. Pico kisses her more than he does me, lol;)

Awesome, awesome, awesome. She’s the best groomer ever! My dog has been to many groomers and I can tell you that she’s truly the best!!! She’s gentle and kind and her place is spotless. Mai, you’re the BEST !!!

This is the BEST groomer in Honolulu. NOT an understatement! Mai is the owner and she is WONDERFUL with the animals. The place is cute, clean, and provides top-​notch customer service. i won’t take my dog anywhere else after finding this place. My dog comes out happy, with a spring in her step, and always perfectly groomed (with precision!!).
She gets bows in her hair based on whatever holiday is coming up (just got her groomed so she has Christmas bows right now!). The best part though? About a week after her visit, I always get the CUTEST photo of my pup, Roxy, posed in front of a fun backdrop (the last one was Christmas, of course), smiling. The photo is professional quality and a delight to get in my inbox. Thank you Mai and Doggy Box for taking care of my little Roxy!

I’ve gone to Mai for almost 2 years & every time I take my dog Roscoe; he comes back looking clean and happy. She’s very professional & her new shop is very pet friendly. If you’re looking for a great groomer that takes care of your pet, she’s the one to go to.
