An award winning family of restaurants, most recently, Big City Diner received a 2011 ‘Ilima Award for «Best Quick Dinner. We were recognized by the Honolulu Star Advertiser «Hawaii’s Best 2010 People’s Choice Awards» for our Loco Moco and Fried Rice, and received first place for «Best American Food.» We were the 2009 Honolulu Advertiser’s «Best of the Best» first place winner for «Best Fried Rice» and «Best Loco Moco,» Big City Diner also received a 2009 ‘Ilima Award for «Best Casual Restaurant» and «Best Quick Dinner.»

History
Established in 1998.
Lane T. Muraoka developed the Big City Diner concept with the help of family and friends. Big City Diner first opened its doors, as a small locally owned business, at our current Kaimuki location on Waialae Avenue in August of 1998.
Meet the Manager
Janice T.
Manager
Born and raised in Southern California, Janice attended the University of California San Diego before beginning her career in the hospitality industry at the Walt Disney Company. «Growing up, my father always taught us to aspire to be the very best at whatever we did, to never just be apathetic and to always give our best effort. This is the attitude I tried to maintain during my twenty years with Disney and throughout my career.» Previous roles include: Director of Product Development for Lowestfare.com and Maupintour; Director of Sales for the Hawthorne Suites; and after relocating to Hawaii in 2004, Sales Manager for Centerplate, A Volume Services Company at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, Waikiki Shell and Aloha Stadium.
