Before I got to Hawaii, I had never heard of eyelash perming. Now that I will be leaving in a year, I am terrified. What will I do without Liz? Who will make me look this good on the mainland? Will she fit in my suitcase?
I set up an appointment to have my eyelashes permed for the first time, and had no idea what to expect. Just like you’re not supposed to use Dr. Google when looking up illness symptoms, you also shouldn’t look up eyelash perm risks-​some of the google images showing no difference between before and after, badly done lashes that were half curled or way too curled, perming liquid hurting the eyeballs…
I was fairly nervous to have chemicals near my eyes, because you only get one set of them and once they stop working, that’s that. But us ladies do some crazy things for beauty, so I went to my first appointment and now, I look back on being afraid and laugh.
Liz’s portfolio shows picture after picture of AMAZING lashes, and now I can add mine to the rest of them! Liz has the most gentle, efficient, and precise hands in this world-​my worries disappeared! While I got to lay down in a dentist chair in a lowlit office under a big fluffy blanket with calming music playing, Liz worked some kind of magic on my straight, lightly colored lashes. I asked for my lashes to be permed and tinted, along with an eyebrow wax and lip wax. Liz multitasked and performed the other services while my lashes were being permed, so even though I was in the chair for an hour, the time flew by.
She used such finesse when waxing my face, I never want to go anywhere else. My eyebrows have never looked so instagrammable, and my upper lip no longer looks like my husbands. She is incredibly adept with whatever tools she uses– I never got pinched with tweezers, poked with q-​tips, squirted with any liquids, etc. It was actually very relaxing, as grooming appointments go.
After I had my eyelashes permed, Liz gave me a hand held mirror while I was laying down so I could admire her handiwork. I’m surprised she didn’t have to wrestle me to get it back, because I couldn’t stop staring at my amazing eyelashes and brows!
Even when I don’t wear mascara, I get so many compliments on my curly lashes. I want to tell people they’re natural, but I tell them where I got them permed and that I wouldn’t trust anyone but Liz with these beauties! I love having them done because I can just roll out of bed and throw some clothes on and look like I spent 30 minutes having my makeup done by a pro. I especially love them because of how often I am in the ocean-​no waterproof mascara for this chick, just my beautigoddess lashes, looking fresh, even when I look like a wet dog!
As if all of that isn’t enough, Liz herself is so friendly. Even on my first appointment, she made me feel like an old friend. She pays complete attention to you, makes you comfortable, makes you laugh, and remembers what you talk about, so when you come in for your next appointment, the hour flies by with pleasant conversation… this is not an appointment that I ever dread having to go to.
And-​FREE PARKING! Liz’s office is located in the Kaimuki shopping center, and there is always a space available, which is something that a lot of businesses don’t have. It makes coming here just that much better.
I know my review is long, but if you want gorgeous natural eyelashes (or extensions-​she does those too and I can’t wait to try them on my next visit) go see Liz. You will not be sorry!

Tami is the BEST – not only is she great at what she does and knows her stuff, but she’s also super sweet, friendly, charismatic, and a beautiful woman inside and out! I struggled using my broken and borderline illiterate knowledge of salon terminology, accentuated with a flurry of exemplary hand motions to explain to her the type of curl I’m used to getting, and from my brief, 20 second explanation, Tami figured out exactly which rod to use to achieve the type of curl I wanted. For someone who has been hooked on getting my eyelashes permed for the last two years, I probably should’ve prepared ahead of time and just brought a picture.
For those of you contemplating between a perm and extensions, I am personally a huge fan of the perm – its such a convenient, painless, no-​hassle way to fabulous lashes! I wear contacts everyday, have super sensitive eyes and skin around my eyes, but lash perms work sooo well for me and my lifestyle. What happens when you get a lash perm is you lie on a bed, the technician has you close your eyes, they cover the skin around your eyes with protective pads, clean your lashes with a clean mascara wand, carefully apply perm solution to your lashes, then wrap your lashes over a particular type of rod to achieve your desired curl. After all of that, you literally lie there with your eyes closed for 45 minutes to an hour to wait for the perm solution to activate the curl, then the technician carefully removes excess perm solution from your lashes, removes the rods and protective pads from your skin, and sometimes applies clear mascara gel to hold the perm in place. It is ok to apply mascara to your lashes immediately after the perm, but if you really want the curl to last, do NOT wet your lashes for the 24 hours immediately after the perm. The perm lasts as long as your natural lash cycle (lashes grow, fall out, & and are replaced with new ones), which from my own experience, varies from individual to individual.
It was my first time at this location and first time getting a lash perm again after a three month hiatus, meaning my thin Asian lashes, though pretty long in length, were naturally pin-​straight and incapable of holding a curl to save its life, per usual. That day, I also happened to have been on less than an hour’s worth of sleep the night before, super stressed out and exhausted, received bad news literally five minutes before I walked in the door, got there seven minutes late, and figured I’d take the opportunity to snag a kitty nap while waiting for my lashes to perm as I usually do when I get them done.
That all changed when I walked in the door. The location is dark with its black painted walls, but lit well enough that its cozy, not creepy, and Tami greeted me with this huge, friendly smile. I ended up voluntarily giving up the nap I promised myself and left an hour later not only LOVING my lashes, but in an unexpectedly great mood after my long conversation turned heart-​to-​heart with Tami. I normally don’t open up to people easily, especially upon meeting a person for the first time, but somehow small talk turned into us gushing about our families, relationships, love lives, and values for the full time I was there. She didn’t need to, but gave me a hug before I left. It didn’t feel like I went in to get a service done – it literally felt like I was hanging out with a close gf who happened to be helping me perm my lashes!
Other than my unique experience with Tami, I encountered two minor differences between this location and the others that I’ve gone to for lash perms:
1. Including my 20% tip, the service cost me ~$ 70, which is ~$ 10 pricier than other Hawaii locations I’ve been to, but worth the small difference in price.
2. They use one of those adjustable lab lights above your eyes, similar to a small version of the ones in dental offices above the patient chair, probably to ensure meticulous perfection in the perm prep process to achieve the curl you want. I appreciate this attention to detail, but I personally did not like the extreme brightness of the light, even with my eyes closed. This was the only location where I experienced the technician using a light like this – every other place I’ve been to was lit with natural or fluorescent lighting.
I uploaded a picture collage of my lashes before my perm (top picture), several days after my perm without any mascara or makeup (middle picture – aren’t my lashes sooo thin?!), and several days after my perm with my favorite mascara combo (bottom picture). Don’t they look great with the perm and mascara?! I’m sooo happy with how flirty and lavishly long they look and feel! (And if you’re wondering, I do not use «fiber» or «3D» mascara – I use a combination of the «Falsies» mascara in the purple tube & Loreal Telescopic in the silver tube :)

I loveeeee my new lashes. Got them done over a week ago by Tami (the sweetest!) and they’re still so curly! I was tearing during the process, and you can’t wear mascara for 48 hours but it is so worth it! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend. The results are exactly like it shows in the pictures.

Gasp! I cannot believe that I have not written a review for Liz yet– and I have faithfully been coming here for over 3 years! Math has always been one of my worst subjects, but to round it out, this review is about 40 visits overdue!
I am a T shirt, jeans and slippers kinda girl who has no time or patience for make up. What I DO have time for is seeing Liz for an hour and walking out of there feeling like a girly girl ready to bat my eyes at Terry H.
My short sparse lashes look long and full after my lash lift and she also puts a conditioner/​sealer on it that lasts for 5 – 6 weeks.
The process is quick and comfortable, and I’ve fallen asleep more than a few times on her comfy table.
I love her new location, much roomier and better parking.

I have been going to Liz for lash lifts for a couple years now. I absolutely love them! I go about every two months to get them done. The lifts are perfect for me. I have done extensions before and they were extremely pricy and I had to do them every two to three weeks. I much rather prefer the lifts and have noticed my lashes growing back and even lengthening. Liz is so sweet and accomodating. Today I also took my mom for her first lash lift with Liz. She was a little nervous but I assured her she was in good hands. She has typical asian lashes shorter and straight. When Liz was done they were curled and really lifted the look of her eyes. She was so happy with them and glad she came with me. I definitely recommend Liz and her staff for lash lifts. You won’t be disappointed.

Got my lashes permed by Tami, and let me just say that she’s awesome! It was my first time getting a lash lift so I was a bit hesitant at first since there were no reviews on Unilocal that mentioned her, so let me be the first :)
My whole experience here was very satisfying. Tami very professional and nice. She made the process as comfortable as possible and addressed any concerns that I had. My appointment ended up taking a bit longer than expected but she made sure everything was ok and didn’t rush me out of there. I really enjoyed talking with her too. She even sent me a before and after picture since there was such a huge difference.
Anyways, I’m super happy with my lashes and will definitely be booking my next appointment with Tami again!

I wanted to wait to see how long exactly my eyelashes would last. I’m always jumping the gun on loving a product/​service right away and then end up disappointed a week later. Not this time! I got my eyelashes darkened and lifted and was sooooo happy how they looked! They lasted for a little over 2 months which is well worth the price! The online booking is so easy and convenient as well. Liz is so sweet and professional. She was talking to me like she had known me forever and it made me feel so at ease! She also told me exactly what she was doing before she did it and what exactly I would feel so I wouldnt panic. I made an appt to go back at the end of next month and I can’t wait!

Liz is awesome and I LOVE my eyelashes!!! I’ve always had a hard time curling my lashes and haven’t found a lash curler that does the job and NOW it’s perfectly curled how I want!!! I just apply my mascara without having to curl it and it looks great!!! Thank you Liz!!! I will definitely be going back!

Love… love…love this place! Got my eyelash lift & eyebrow waxed, and what a difference… no need for an eyelash curler… opens my eyes! Liz is a true professional and she’s such a personality! Lovely lady!

Liz permed my eyelashes about a week ago. I had a very nice time at her salon, which has a very couture vibe. She is very pleasant and professional. I have wished my eyelashes were curly forever. Now They are! My eyelashes are amazing! I will be going back every two months for the rest of my life!!!
Liz also has some other really cool products at the shop too! I purchased some cool eyeliner and mascara. She seems very knowledgable about the up and coming beauty products from Japan.

My only hesitation in recommending Liz is that she’ll get too busy to fit me in! Getting a lash perm every 2 months is a necessity for me, and I am always satisfied with the results.

Had lash extensions done by Tyleen. I absolutely love, love, love them! She is very knowledgeable & she really listens to what you want your lashes to look like. More volume, longer length, natural or glamorous, she will help you achieve your ideal look.
There’s lots of parking. It’s located in the Kaimuki Shopping Center on Waialae Ave on the 3^rd Floor.

I got my lashes permed yesterday by Liz and I absolutely LOVE them! I’ve always wanted to try them but have been skeptical… she put all my worries at ease and made the experience great! My lashes are pretty long but in good olé Asian fashion, they stick straight out (and somewhat downward). When I curl them it just seems to crimp them… Even with the best Shu Uemura curler, they still don’t look natural and fall throughout the day/​night. I’ve also tried extensions (at another salon), and they looked really nice but it was a little too high maintenance for me, having to brush them and refill them (they get really expensive). So that is why i love the lash lift so much! It isn’t too expensive and it looks great! I can’t wait to get my next one and maybe make it a little more dramatic! My sister went to Tyleen and she is also great! She has short lashes and having them permed maked them look so much longer!
I definitely recommend anyone looking to perm lashes to visit Liz or Tyleen!

This is a waaaaay long overdue review. I have done lash perms in the past at other places. The first time it didn’t perm at all. The lady said because I had «virgin» lashes. The second time around, only 2 – 4 lashes were permed. Uhm. hello. what about the other 30+ strands of lashes on my lid? I am so grateful for Unilocalers in helping me find Liz and Tyleen. They both are AWESOME! They always do a great job in keeping my lashes nice and perky and my lashes always perm, even the new «virgin» lashes that grow in hehe :)

Liz has now moved from her original spot to a much larger place with tons more parking at 3221 Waialae Ave #305. It’s on the third floor above Fairwood Ramen and American Savings Bank. Only a short drive away from where she originally was, but I do like the new location better.
The new space is really spacious and a huge upgrade to her old spot. Nice a/​c and more styling chairs. Love the new décor and the new set up. Tons of parking on Sundays when I go, but I know parking can be a little harder on weekdays.
The prices have gone up a bit to $ 55, but if you’re a loyal & repeat customer you can get the exclusive semi-​annual package deals to save. :) I go religiously every 6 weeks, and it’s good to book an appointment way ahead of time since she books up quickly and only works certain days.

Wowzers! Its been ages since I’ve Unilocaled but going to Beautigoddess makes me wanna get back into the groove.
First off… NEW LOCATION-​Still on Waialae Ave. but now in the same shopping center as Longs. Her studio is above American Savings so you can either walk up the middle set of stairs or take the elevator by Fairwood Drive Inn.
Parking-​While there is lots of it, just be aware of the timing. I went when Sacred Hearts was getting out of school and I saw A LOT of parents park there while waiting. I’m sure it happens all the time but doesn’t seem like the shopping center is doing anything to prevent it.
The Studio-​A wonderful space now with two separate rooms for you to get your lashes etc. done. They are nicely decorated and painted with a dark, relaxing color.
The addition of Tyleen is a wonderful one. She is just as great and skilled as Liz. So don’t worry if you can’t get an appt with Liz because Tyleen is the same level of awesomeness. *In fact, she is the one that introduced Liz to eyelash perms! She is super sweet and easy to talk to. I like that she explained the process as someone else had mentioned. She also took the time to explain how I have a lot of baby lashes growing out (Thank you pregnancy and hormones) so it may not catch on the rod as easy. But I was still completely satisfied with the end result, as usual.
Scheduling is so easy online. You can see what is available right away without waiting for a response. She still sends out specials for perms once you see her and get on the mailings list. So don’t wait any longer!

today was my first perm ever! I was looking into eyelash extensions but since I don’t really have a special occasion and since I already am told I have a lot of thick long lashes, I figured a perm might look just as good. I went online to her website and checked availability, I lucked out with an appointment the very next day with Liz.
she sent me an email the day of, with instructions to the studio. I parked in the front of a tax business? in a little lot that looked residential. go up the stairs, there’s signs to reassure you Beautigoddess is within ! it’s easy. once inside the room is calm and pretty.
she was very gentle and friendly without pushing conversation, I’m shy and I’m one of those people that need to concentrate on not moving, I talk with my face haha. the 45 minutes was relaxing but when I think too hard about not moving, I twitch, and I’m sure I messed up something, but it still looks great!
I’ll report back when I see how long my perm lasts before my 2^nd treatment but I’m happy with it as of now ! I’ve seen $ 45 prices at nail salons but I trust Liz not to burn my eyelids off and the peace of mind is worth it.

I got my lashes permed. When I was looking for this place, it was REALLY hard to find. No sign no directions. Basically you park in this small lot that only has like 4 stalls, and you go up the stairs and walk all the way to the back to a door which opens to this place. If the lady didn’t meet me outside of the building, I would not have found this place.
As for the service, I think it was ok. My right eye doesn’t look like it’s been permed though. I think I just have hair that’s hard to perm. I see some people with super nice lashes… but even if I perm my lashes, I won’t get that glamourous look because they are short. At least the lashes are out of my eyes now… kinda.
Would I go back? Meh… it’s expensive and I didn’t really get that DAMN that was good feeling.
