I like to eat the combo(ham pâté and head cheese) and then bbq pork for the road This really is one of the best banh mi in Cali or Hawaii that I have had I love this place every time I come to Oahu !

Small shop. Got the tofu sandwich on a croissant. The croissant was a bit dry. The sandwich was a but bland and would’ve benefitted from more vegetables.

Yummy, fairly quick, Vietnamese French banh-mi sandwich chain. Ordered the BBQ pork banh mi, the Lemongrass chicken banh mi, and the meatball sandwich for the kids. We stopped on our way home from The Bishop Museum at the School Rd location, and we will be back.

I wouldn’t have walked into the place of it wasn’t for Unilocal, but I’m glad I did. In this shopping area there isn’t much for vegetarians. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in helping me make my decision. She gave me some broad choices and helped me narrow it down to what I wanted. I ended up doing the vegetarian stir fry. The fried tofu was my favorite part. I couldn’t taste the carrot soy sauce dressing very well, but I made up for it with the Sriracha and hoisin sauce on the table. The noodles were thin and semi-soft. It wasn’t very filling, but I would still say it was worth the price for what I paid($ 6.81). If I’m in the area again, I will probably stop by. Next time I think I’ll try the eggplant.

Decent banh mi. Spicy pickled daikon, lemongrass chicken was the best, although it was more of a yellow curry chicken sandwich. Meat quality was good, no gristle.

I was back home in Hawaii visiting & everything from the French Bread BBQ pork sandwich, spring rolls, chicken manapua, banana tapioca pudding & rice cakes-they’re all ono! The friendly ladies & awesome customer service completes the whole positive experience.

I loved their Chicken Phở. It hit the spot the other day when I was sick. I even got it to go… they pack the soup separate from all the veggies/chicken. Perfect!

Best Bale on the island, hands down. They’re all really nice, and they’re really fast. I go there so often that they already know my order!

I swear this is the ONLY Bale I will ever eat at! They make the BEST sandwiches ever. When I don’t feel like eating rice, I like to order the Bale Special on croissant and a thai tea. It’s soo good. Hey put the right amount of meat and veggies. I tried the Bale specials in other Bale joints and they DONOT compare. They have a weird meat taste to it. The thai tea in other joints are too strong. I don’t drink tea or cofee. The other places make it waaaay too strong to my liking and put too much ice. This place makes their thai tea milky and not too much ice for maximum enjoyability. Come here and enjoy some vietnamese sandwiches and you will not regret!

The Ba-Le’s chain on Oahu are disappointing to me. I’m spoiled I guess? The Kahului one in the Maui Marketplace was so clean and ran so efficiently. This one is a smaller store tucked into the Kam. Shopping center. I went in and it was empty, maybe a bad sign? So my cousin orders a special Banh Mi(dac biet) and I get an order of summer rolls. We pay and sit down to wait, tables are sticky D; ew! Anyways, it took about 20 minutes for our order to be finished. Maybe because they only had a few people working? But it took longer than expected to make a sandwich & rolls. Also when I enter a Ba-Le’s I normally check the bread case to make sure it’s fresh. It didn’t seem to be the case here. I don’t think they make the bread at this location, like the one on Maui… I didn’t even catch a whiff of Phở :/

I usually order the sandwiches on French roll with extra pickled veggies and it’s consistently good. I’ve tried the plates, but always find myself going back to the sandwiches. The cinnamon walnut bread chips are delicious. The staff of mom(owner) and kids are very nice. It’s a family-owned shop that has a good feel.

I usually get the special sandwich with extra pâté, tuna on croissant, and spring rolls. Staff is always friendly and bread is always up to par! Highly recommended for sandwiches!

Portions getting notably smaller. Spaghetti, phở and chicken salad in particular. Sandwich bread not fresh, particularly notable with the croissant when it’s dry and crunchy! Will only go back if we have a craving…

The sandwiches are pretty tasty. Just stick to them and not the phở. About $ 10 for an adequate bowl of phở just cannot compare to the dozens of other amazing phở places in Honolulu which are cheaper

Banh Mi! I don’t know any places where I can get my banh mi fix other than Bale. I’ve tried the BBQ pork and steamed pork. The BBQ pork was much better. Service was quick and easy. They have some tables so you can eat there but I usually just do take out. You can also substitute the french bread with a croissant. They have a lot of other food but I love Banh Mi so much that I don’t think I’ll ever try them when I come here.

Always see my friends eating Phở, so I had to try it my self! It’s really good! I had the combo with the beef and meat balls. The service is great. I’ll be back!

Our Vietnamese friend introduced us to this place… and well, it’s not that bad. It feels kind of at home, and the people there are kind. Sandwiches are good and the spring rolls are as well! We still need to try the phở… many of our friends say that it’s delish! Hope we can come here again!

I absolutly love it here. I say they have THE best chicken egg rolls compared to the other Bale shops I’ve been to. The restuarant is family owned and they’re all SUPER nice here. There is not one time I have had an upsetting experience coming here. The food’s good here. I love their crossants and phở aside of their bomb chicken egg rolls.

I usually eat bahn mi from Lees back in Cali. So, i was excited to try the one here in Hawaii. Ba-Le is by our house. Small store front. But good sandwiches. I came here several times & i’m never let down. I always order the lemon grass chicken on a croissant. It’s always packed with meat & the croissant is always fresh & crisp. The spring rolls are also yummy & so is the banana tapioca.
