Northstar every time I visit you I feel as though I gain 10 pounds. Its not your fault that you serve such yummy chicarron, longaniza, adobo, guisantes, dinuguan and pinakbet that I can eat endlessly. I feel as though I need to be placed on a restricted amount of visits per month and be fined if I go over my limit. It really sucks that I live right down the street from where you are. I am so sure my cholesterol jumps astronomical proportions after each meal here. But life is short(probably even shorter after eating this food over time) and you shouldn’t go without yummy food for long. This place is also my go to, to get Chicarron to make other Filipino dishes. You can get a pound for about nine dollars. All dishes here seem to also be made fresh daily and served up in crockpots on the service counter. My only complaint about this joint is that the parking situation really sucks. Getting into the spots are easy, on your way out, you get to back out into loads of oncoming traffic on N. King street. People are really douchy and you will have to wait for that rare nice person to let you out. If you’re in the Kalihi area and are looking for a really yummy place for lunch come to Northstar. You may pack on so many calories for lunch that you may not need dinner.

Vineger longanisa excellent, chicharon great, fried pig ears awesome, and the option for kalding a.k.a. goat to go with your beer after work, priceless. I prefer this location over the other two. Parking is limited but if you go at the right time of day no problems.

This is just one of your many friend neighborhood Filipino delis down in the Kalihi on North King St. It is conveniently located right across from Farrington High School and the intersection of N. King and Houghtailing. They have some great Filipino entrees and desserts. The staff and customer service is good. The Titas and Manangs make you feel like home as soon as you step into the deli shop. You have all kinds of Filipino grindz from pancit, adobo, pinakbet, guisantes, and many more. They also have some delicious Pinoy snacks. The lechon kawali is also da bomb. This place is almost like your momma’s homemade cooking by going over here. Of course momma’s cooking will always be number one. There is parking right in the front of the shop for convenience when you are on the go. Unfortunately, they don’t really have any table or seating areas if you want to dine in and eat in the shop. They also have other kinds of Filipino stuff that Pinoys and Pinays would want and need like phone cards, concert tickets to shows, OPM(Original Pinoy Music) CDs, Philippine dramas, etc. It’s worth checking out if you are a true Filipino food lover and seeker!
