History
Established in 1980.
In 1975, I got my first dog, a Siberian Husky named Tess. My initial puppy love soon morphed into complete exasperation. Though I was convinced Tess was untrainable, we enrolled in obedience school. Who would have guessed that she would eventually become a terrific companion and one of the few High in Trial, UD titled huskies in history? Ironically, Tess’s youthful obstinacy launched my career as a dog trainer.
Here’s a synopsis:
* Training companion and show dogs since 1975
* Director of Amiable Dog Training in southeastern Wisconsin since 1980
* Author of 6 books, producer of 3 DVDs, TV and radio host
Weekend workshops from Alaska to Florida
Performs with «Dancing Dogs» at schools, humane societies, festivals, libraries, senior centers and more
* Obedience Trial competition resulting in OTCH titles, High in Trial awards & #1 obedience dog national rankings (Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle Dog, Briard, Flat Coat, Am Staff, Chin, Cocker, Whippet, Tibetan Spaniel, etc
Meet the Business Owner
Amy A.
Business Owner
In 1975, I had a dog I couldn’t control and took her to obedience school. As a result, I developed a circle of friends who were passionate about showing and loving dogs. I traveled the country campaigning my pets and winning awards.
In 1979 (when I was 15), Bob Self, publisher of Front & Finish, asked me to write a column on junior handlers. I continued writing, teaching, boarding & training, and showing.
Amiable Dog Training strategies spread when I was asked to give weekend workshops for dog training instructors and exhibitors nationwide. Regular appearances on TV and radio shows led to hosting DogClassTV, Everything Pet Show and Your Family Pet.
After adopting my first mixed breed, I dabbled in teaching tricks and developed «How To Be a Dogs Best Friend» in which Able the Dancing Chihuahua and I entertain and demonstrate how to be safe around dogs
In 2012, I moved to Honolulu and offer lessons and customized services year round in Hawaii and during the summer in Milwaukee.
