Let see I contacted Achilles because my pups were acting up during outings and jumping up with guest came. At first the trainer seemed awesome. He came assessed my dogs and showed me what his dog could do. He then showed me what I needed to focus on with praising and told us we would need 4 more sessions and charged us about $ 313 or so. After a week of us training them we scheduled for another session. We then met with him on a rain day in a busy parking lot to train our pups. After that very wet and dirty training session we got one text of «hows training going?» then nothing. I haven’t heard from him since. I will be taking my pups to a group training that wont cost me a quarter of what I spent on this trainer.

After two months I just heard back from Achilles K9. Steve apologized for the mistake in communication on when we where to train. He also offered to have a different trainer come out and train our pups but since we are leaving island in the next few weeks it wouldn’t work out. He then offered to refund me the money for the remaining two sessions we didn’t use. Not only did the text message surprise me but the offer to refund was also very appreciated.
I have never felt the need to edit a post but after hearing from Steve I knew I needed to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Let me explain.
In 2010, I was visiting a friend at her home. She was watching her dad’s dog, which she did almost daily. The dog, I’ll call him Cujo, always barked at me, but I didn’t take him seriously. Until he bit my arm. Ever since then, I’ve been terrified of Cujo.
Fast forward to 2013 when I moved in with that same friend. Every time I left the house or came home, Cujo would be there, barking and lunging at the fence, testing the strength of the flimsy barrier that separated us. I cringed in fear as he snarled, baring his sharp teeth.
My friend’s dad chided Cujo when he was around, but he wasn’t always there when I’d leave or come home. My friend told me not to be afraid of Cujo because he fed off fear, but I couldn’t help my basic primal instinct. Their casual attitude made me feel silly, like I was overreacting.
After eight months of living in fear, the last straw came when one day, I was home alone and I sneezed. Cujo ran to the same side of the house that I was on and barked. And barked some more. He didn’t stop barking for two hours and only stopped because my friend came home.
Right then and there I Googled dog training services and obedience schools in Hawaii. Most of the places I researched offered group lessons, which was out of the question because Cujo would not hesitate to maul other dogs and their owners.
Then I came upon Achilles K9 on Unilocal.Since they had a positive review, I decided to check out their website. It was straightforward and seemed legitimate so I filled out the contact form with my information. Within 30 minutes, I received a reply from Steve. He expressed concerned about the situation and offered to come to the house right away.
So we scheduled a free consultation for that afternoon. Steve arrived promptly and was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. His warm and non-​judgmental demeanor put me and my friend at ease right away.
After assessing Cujo, Steve gave us his honest opinion and a variety of options. He reassured me that I wasn’t overreacting and confirmed that Cujo was indeed a real threat to my safety as well as the safety of those living around us.
Later that night, my friend and I went to the pet store to buy a muzzle, as recommended by Steve. We were overwhelmed by the variety of muzzles and the pet store employee was pushy and didn’t seem to know what she was talking about. I contacted Steve and he kindly and patiently helped us choose an appropriate muzzle.
We eventually decided to set up a session for Cujo, partly because of Achilles K9’s reasonable rates and ability to work around our schedules. Even though Cujo was practically foaming at the mouth, Steve used a variety of techniques to calm him down. It was truly amazing. He was even able to take the leash from my friend, walk Cujo up and down the street, AND pet him! It was nothing short of a miracle.
Of course Cujo didn’t change overnight, but Steve gave me something I never thought I’d have again: hope. And because of that hope, I believe that one day I’ll be able to leave the house and come home without fear for my life.

Our story: My family of 5 became 6 with an addition of a Doberman puppy. We moved to a shared space with another family and quickly realized we needed puppy training. Neither my husband or I have experience with training a puppy of the breed and we were not succeeding on our own. The puppy schools offered in pet stores or other outside sources were expensive and seemed too basic and not specialized for what we felt our puppy needed. After some research we found Achilles k9!
Training: We were scheduled to have our first meeting Saturday but when a situation arised Steve (our awesome trainer) agreed to come to our house at 6am the next morning. It didn’t take long to see that the training is exactly what we were looking for. Our puppies behavior improved that day!

* He is available for questions and support
* The price is more than reasonable
* He offers more advanced training.
Cons: In my opinion there are none.
If you want to learn to extract the best from your dog and see value in quality, Steve with Achilles k9 is the one for you. Just be ready to do your homework!
