The customer service is great, he will bring the ramen to your table! It’s cute to watch him walk around trying to find the person who ordered it too! They are very friendly and the ramen is very delicious. I usually get the miso Charsiu ramen!

Excellent food, and excellent owner. He greeted me warmly when I had been looking at the selections, and was very helpful. I ordered the #2, the Kyoto Shoyu ramen. Broth was very flavorful, and not too oily. I would highly recommend this place, I will definitely be back.

Woo hoo! My sister eats here all the time. We love the yuzu shio ramen! The eggs were done perfectly with a nice golden goo center. The ramen boys were super nice! One even got us water and took our bowls for us when we were done! Located inside Shirokiya to the left of the escalator.

This place is awesome, I got a coupon walking into the store for a free gyoza with an order of noodles and decided to check the place out. They were right next to «Godmother» which was another Unilocal!Adventure I had a while ago. The dude running the counter is so cool, he’s like the life of that entire section and his upbeat attitude and happiness is contagious. I ordered my food and was told that it would be bought out to me when it was ready so I sat and waited, meanwhile other people’s orders were coming out and the dude from the counter was hunting the people down in the craziness that is Shiro’s at dinner time. When I was served my food it was a huge bowl, everything was so fresh and flavorful. I recommend giving this place a try if you’re ever in the area, even if you’re sitting in another section your food will find you.

Stumbled across this one by accident. What caught my eye was the Yuzu Shio Ramen that they feature. Unfortunately, they were out of it when I ordered so I went for the Shoyu Tan Tan ramen, which tasted pretty darn good. The broth had a slight bonito flavoring on top of the pork base. Very delicious. I learned they were from Kyoto, where I’ve been a few times and quite honestly, it does taste like a bowl of ramen straight from Japan unlike that stuff you get from Goma Tei. The servers and kitchen staff were very friendly. They even take the finished bowl of ramen to you rather than making you come back to pick yours up. I’m def. going to go back again and try other flavors.

I ordered the shoyu char siu ramen with corn added on last night for dinner. The service was fast and friendly. The server/cook was extremely nice and brought out the ramen to my seat. The char siu was soft, delicious, and had the right amount of fat. Superb! The egg was also perfectly cooked. For me the broth was much too oily. I couldn’t eat the soup, so I ate around it. The noodles were decent. I enjoyed my ramen but was disappointed with the broth. I would definitely eat here again, but I would order the char siu bowls instead or try a different broth.

My favorite ramen place in Shirokiya! The owner, Shota, always remember me and the food is fantastic. Great food, good prices, speedy service and a very friendly staff. I really hope they relocate to the new location in the Ewa Wing.

Worst ramen I’ve had in Hawaii. Maybe it’s my fault I expected it to be decent in a food court. I ordered the yuzu shio special and for $ 14 I got a bowl of noodles stuck together with cold char sui and plain egg and little bit of yuzu on the side which you can’t even taste when you mix it with broth. Honestly this wasn’t any better than instant noodles you can buy at the store.

Fantastic smoky flavor. Light but filling. We had number five and the delicious soft boiled egg was such a surprise. Four hours later and my 11 year old was still talking about it. Definitely going back!

Pros Service: The gentlemen working here were welcoming and it was a bonus when they kindly told me take a seat so they could bring out the ramen and some water for me. Kyoto Shoyu Tan Tan Ramen: Broth was fragrant with a mild kick. Noodles were cooked just right and loved how they offered a whole egg versus half an egg. Morning Special: If you’re an early-bird, take advantage of the morning special where all their ramens are $ 2.00 off each. The morning special occurs daily from 9:30am-11:00am.

The broth was sooooooo yummy! This is one of the best ramen places in Oahu and the best I’ve ever had. I was doing a ramen challenge for Oahu and this made it to the top! Broth, noodle and meat was all excellent!

This place located at Ala Moana Shirokiya food court became one of my favorite Japaneses ramen place. Their soup is not too salt but it’s still tasty. I would get super thirsty if it’s too salty or msg added but I don’t have this feeling with this place. The noodles texture is also well balanced, not too soft or hard. One of their must try is Yuzu Shio Tan Tan noodles. it comes with chicken not pork. Chicken is surprisingly tender, not dry at all! I would suggest to go for the Mild Collagen if you want something light taste, Yuzu Shio would be a good choice if you want something tasty but not heavy.

Located inside Shirokiya food court, this is one of my favorite ramen shop. Yes, there’s no table service but the kind staff will deliver your food to your table. So nice! I usually get their shoyu ramen. My companion ordered shoyu ramen with wonton. They told us it will take 20 minutes. But it was all worth it because they cook them when you order versus already cooked. Wontons were nice and tasty. I also love their thin ramen noodles along with natural looking char siu. That means every char siu looked different. The soup base was just right too. Not too salty or not too oily. If you do eat here, kindly return their ramen bowls and tray back to their counter. Please be careful. Bowls are heavy.

Was ono, nuff said. I got the #9 Kyoto Shoyu Tan Tan Ramen(Medium) and Hubs got the #3 Kyoto Char-Siu Syoyu Ramen. #9 wasn’t too salty or spicy. Hubs liked his and the noodles were different from mine. #3 broth to me light, yet flavorful. Ramen that reminds me Japan. Oishii!!!

The staff are rude as hell. I just flew in from Florida and I only came here because of Unilocal.I ordered a «number 1» oh excuse I’m sorry I don’t pronounce the type of ramen right. They sat there the entire night laughing and making jokes. But wait I speak 5 languages and I’m here for work. So I understand your lingo and language. The ramen is «okay» there are plenty of places you can get ramen for 15 $ bucks and be treated with respect and dignity.

Typical girls night with argument of where the heck should we eat tonight. We’re all picky so rather disagreeing on this and that we go Shirokiya, where there are a lot of options. Of course, we Unilocaled food booths we should go to. We discovered this newly opened ramen placed. Unilocalaholics like us just want to try new places. This ramen joint is located on the left side of the beer garden cashier, where you buy your beers. It’s also right next to a curry food joint. It actually took us a while to find it with all the crowd and such. It’s known for their wavy thin noodles. We ordered the special Kyoto miso ramen, large, $ 14~. The bowl was definitely big. A lot of noodles, 5 pieces of pork char siu, a mount of green onions, bonito flakes and bamboo shoot. The guy who works there told us the soup base is chicken flavored. Holy moly, this noodle soup was hella delicious!!! It wasn’t too salty or oily. The noodles were soft and chewy. The taste was heaven. The worker was really nice. After we ordered we walked away to get other food, forgot to let him know. He carried the tray with the bowl of noodles to look for us. That’s so sweet. I will be back for this amazingly yummy noodles! Yay!!!

Either this specific stall is a Ramen gold mine, or Gifu, Japan must have the best Ramen in the Universe. The previous Ramen shop that occupied this space, called Guratche, had excellent Ramen, and this new place, Akasatana, is even better! This place is located in the Yataimura Beer Garden in Shirokiya. I ordered the Special Kyoto Shoyu Tan Tan Ramen(Large) at $ 14.90, and it had to be one of the best Tan Tan Ramen I’ve ever had. It came with four pieces of sliced char siu, bamboo shoots, scallions, two slices of kamaboko fish cake, and ajitama. Right when this hit the table, I was entranced in the heavenly aroma of the nuttiness from the broth, which really got the olfactory senses going. In addition, the size of the bowl of ramen was huge! The bowl was very wide with the broth filled almost to the brim, and filled with a sizable amount of toppings. The char siu was good quality, tender, well-prepared, and well-cooked. It had the perfect balance between fat and pork, tenderness and firmness, and the meatiness of the pork fused in with flavor of the broth. I loved the ajitama that had the slightly salty egg white with the sweet yolk. The whole egg was super soft and tender, and just melts in your mouth. The mix of sweet and salty blended incredibly well with the flavors of the broth, which made for a very delectable bite. You receive a heaping about of menma, or bamboo shoots, which is definitely many, many times more than other ramen places. The menma here is very mellowed out, so you won’t get a strong pungent, sharp, bitter taste, just a slight one. It is more on the sweet side, and but very tasty and flavorful that adds to the multitude of flavors in the ramen, as well as a crunchy element to the eating experience. You also receive a heaping of fresh sliced scallions. I recommend pushing all of it down into the broth, so it can be cooked a bit to release its flavor and aroma. Lets get onto the most important parts: the ramen noodle and the broth. The ramen noodle was the wavy, curly, thick type. It was very well-prepared as the noodles had the perfect balance of firmness and chewiness that soaked up the broth very well. The broth. The Shoyu Tan Tan broth. I have no idea where to begin! Lets begin with the base. According to the information from the TV at the front of this place, the broth is made from chicken, which is normally more on the lighter side, but when you add in the sesame paste, the broth becomes the perfect balance between light and savory. You can really taste the cleanness and smoothness, and the depth of flavors of the chicken broth, and the sesame paste add the richness and the savory factor into the broth. Also, the fried peanuts added an additional nuttiness and earthiness to the broth, and the togarashi and chili oil added the spiciness. Those toppings had the perfect amount in the broth. When everything is combined, you get the most balanced bowl of ramen you will ever have. It appears simple, yet the flavors were complex and dynamic. It hits every flavor profile with nothing overpowering the other. Each ingredient and topping had the perfect amount. It was simply, one of the best ramen I’ve ever had. My only complaint was the soup spoon was way too small for it to be an effective broth slurping utensil! You don’t really expect any table service when you’re eating at what is essentially a food court. Yet, the head chef at Akasatana not only made and brought over my ramen to my table, but he also brought me a cup of water and refilled it whenever it was empty and periodically asked if everything is okay. He didn’t have to do that since there’s a self-serve water cooler right behind me and… aren’t you busy making ramen in the back too?, but he did anyway. He even took my empty bowl and tray! I wasn’t expecting any of that. That’s top-notch friendly and attentive service! I’d leave tip, but I don’t think that would be a good idea since it’s open seating. Overall, it was a great and memorable experience. One of the best Tan Tan Ramen anywhere with great service. The prices are typical here. The large bowl is probably the largest anywhere with excellent portions and broth to the brim. You will definitely leave full and very satisfied. I really hope this little Ramen shop stays for the long-term. And I believe I need to visit Gifu when I travel to Japan!

Wow this unassuming ramen shop in the corner near the beer garden is my new favorite eatery in Shirokiya! The employees are so friendly and attentive and give great recommendations. Upon reading the five reviews of this place that were on hand, I decided to try the yuzu shio tan tan ramen. Although the pictures show the ramen with an egg, there is no egg unless you order it as a topping($ 1 extra). The employees were so quick and I received my bowl of ramen not long after I sat down. I eagerly sipped the broth and was amazed at the complexity of flavors! There was the savory taste of chicken/pork, a slight spiciness, a hint of sesame flavor from the tan tan, and lastly the citrus-y aftertaste from yuzu. Amazing! The noodles were thinner than I was used too(was it because the noodles were gluten-free?) but the broth was definitely the star. The medium size bowl was $ 10.90. Other toppings in the ramen included a slice of chicken, green onion, nori, bamboo shoots, and fish cake. I ran back to the counter and asked if I could purchase the egg topping for $ 1. I soaked the egg in the broth for a little while, then bit into the soft gooey egg. I was surprised that the egg had so much flavor on its own! The center was perfectly done and jellylike. The outside of the egg was marinated in shoyu so it was even more flavorful. I am in love with this new ramen shop… It definitely tastes like Kyoto-style ramen. Lighter broth, but strong flavors shine through.

Awesome yuzu shio ramen. Add $ 1.50 for a large size(50% extra noodle). The broth is chicken paitan base so it is very light. You can ask for extra chili powder too. $ 12.90 for a big bowl that you can share. They are from Kyoto and their ramen tastes just like the one we had in Kyoto. Great authentic find. We tried a bowl of ramen from 3 different places in the food court and this is our favorite!

When you come to Shirokiya’s food court, you often feel overwhelmed by the selection of food and wish you had a bottomless stomach. Many food stalls are the same old places, but occasionally you’ll get a diamond in the rough as it was on my last visit here. Wanting a change of pace, I found this stand directly to the left of the beer garden and the eager young chef/owner? saw me study his menu. The sign said that it was a pop-up that would last until 5/28th, but I would be gone by 5⁄15th so can’t tell you whether his stay is extended. He kindly recommended that I try the Spicy Kyoto Tantan noodles(medium)( ) for $ 10.80, adding a spicy mayo char siu rice bowl( ) for an additional $ 2.80. The noodles were good, the broth above average, but loved the variety of ingredients in this bowl. He had me with the soft yolk egg halves. Being already full from the ramen, I just took a few bites of the rice which was okay at the time. I ended up eating the rice bowl in my room for dinner that evening. The mayo in the char siu made this a bit rich and it wasn’t all that spicy; the corn made this a lot more colorful. The noodles rate a 3.5, the rice bowl a 3.0, but kick this up a star for the enthusiastic guy who drew me here. If you’re tired of the other places(katsu, sushi, bentos, okonomiyaki, etc.), this is a solid alternative as a change of pace. Call me sentimental but I just like rooting for the underdog especially when they are enthusiastic and anxious to please.
